spv m700 "sim missing" after unlocking - P3600 Software Upgrading

i just used chimsinties Newbies guide to unlock my m700, truly excellent, i am running 3.nAr.23016. all seems fine, except my tmobile sim card is not recognised. shortly after boot up, "sim missing" is displayed.
all others i have tried work fine, o2,vodaphone, virgin payg, (which is tmobile)
is it possible that my simcard is so old (about 7 years), it doesn't have some capabilities?
any suggestions greatly recieved. my only option at the moment my wife is going to use it, but doesn't see the point, stating "i only need a phone"
all fantastic work chaps, many thanks

After WM5 upgrade now Unknown SIM status

Anybody else see this message? After upgrading to WM5 I get the message on the phone:
Unknown SIM status.
Only emergency calls.....
To test I put the SIM card in my MPx200 and it works fine so that card should be good.
Any ideas?
Got it figured out. I did the upgrade without the sim card in the device. So, extensive reading helped me come up with the idea of hard reset the device to get to the screen where it ask about kitl, etc. At this point I soft reset the device since I didn't want to loose the data I already had on the device.
Now the sim card is recognized.
This is a looong time after your post, but I wanted to thank you for posting the solution. You just saved me a lot of hair, thank you.
hello
two year ihave this problem (nogsm and error 114radio stackkk) and NO SOLUTION FOR ME
my two 9090 is good pda !!! finish gsm possibilities
My Orange SPV M2000 too ((((((

Won't Start up phone/sim services.

Have tried several different Sim cards from Cingular. So i know it's not my Sim card.
So here's the Story. I bought the phone on ebay, knowing it had some kind of stupid SIM lock on it. I figured no worries, just flash the firmware, and it will go away. So I upgraded to mobile 6 using the Wiki (couldn't do the memory swap unlock thing, since pocket pc 2003 doesn't let you into the OS if it can't use SIM card). So I flashed to mobile 6, everything works great (well.. great, but the clock resets everytime i take the battery out) except it won't let me use the phone, it see's the SIM card (becuase if I take it out, it wines about no SIM), everytime I try to go in the settings for phone or SMS it just says phone is busy wait 15 seconds and try again.
Couple of things I have tried, upgrading Radio... upgrades won't work.
Downgrading back 2003, doesn't work.
Any thoughts?
try buying a new battery. since it is a "second-hand" unit.
i think it's not buffed enough to powerup the phone module.

Thanks for the tip but that didn't help. Got a brand new battery and everything... It's just a little frustrating to have only the PDA functionality but no phone.
i had that kind of problem... i never solved it... but JP did.
it's worth a try...
Click Here and READ the thread... hope it helps...
NightWinggl,
I think you've answered your on question.
If your BA is sim locked to another operator and you didn't manage to unlock it, phone/sim services won't work.
JP
@JP
i thought if the phone is "locked" that would throw an "invalid sim status" not "phone is busy wait 15 seconds and try again"?
@NightWinggl
it wont hurt to try unlocking the phone module as JP said to make sure it's unlocked and accepting your carrier. search for unlock in this forum.
hope that works for you.
Silver,
I'm not sure, but if i remember correclty when i was learning to upgrade my BA and reading the wiki for the first time, i upgraded my BA with Helmi's ROM but didn't SIM unlock it, and i believe the behaviour when using a "locked SIM" was as described by NightWinggl.
No "invalid sim status" or "invalid sim status" or "please insert sim" ... i think.
JP

Please help, put in Sim card, shows 'no service'

Hi
I just got on at&T 8925, I put in sim card and it did not ask for unlock code, so I guess it is unlocked, I put in my sim card (Fido Canada, works in other phone) and it show "no service" can not find phone network signal.
I tried
ATT ROM 1.57.502.2 and
RUU_Kaiser_ROGERS_WWE_1.83.631.4_radio_sign_22.51.88.13_1.27.15.32R_Test.exe
radio 1.27.12.11 and 1.27.15.32
all same problem.
Can anyone help me, are these rom combinations not good? or something wrong with the device?
or anything I need to do?
thank you for your help !
Try another known-good SIM card. If you still cannot get service, then you probably have a hardware issue with the phone.
Sounds stupid, but did you make sure you put the SIM in the right way around.
You wouldn't believe how many people have not done this right.
Sounds like it's not unlocked... when I got mine it wasn't unlocked but it only asked for a code once.... just run the unlocker to be sure...
maybe to hard reset?
Hi thanks for everyone's help.
I think I put the sim card the right way , otherwise it will show 'no sim card'
I am keep trying other rom/radio; still no luck, it either keep searching or say 'no service'
I really hope it is not hardware problem.
hope if anyone has the experience and could help me
it really confuse me.
Thanks

welll this might be a little solution i read in another thread...sum times the phone will not read the sim becuz its not making enough contact to the phone...so maybe a little piece of paper on top of the sim then put it in the phone MIGHT help..if it doesnt then ur phone is jacked up =P
or
when i put my tmobile sim in my unlocked 8925 it worked and then a couple our couldnt get n e service... and i checked my brothers phone and dad and they didnt have service too... so maybe sumtimes the network will nto work for a while. or sumthing
If you go in the phone options and do a manual network search, does it find anything?
Thanks brian_v3ntura:
but I tried paper, same thing, maybe not be contact problem.
Thanks kilrah:
I tried that, it shows " cannot read setting from network, try viewing setting later or disconnect data connection and try again."
I did saw something online that maybe because the Fido sim card maybe old (about 3 years), but it did work with sth. like Samsung blackjack II. maybe Kaiser is more complicated.
just wonding if anyone have experience that old sim card may have problem with new phones.
I will keeping trying...
My SIM card is about 4 years old.
I'd bet your Kaiser has a hardware problem.
Hi, guys
I tried a friend's Fido sim card, it works, I don't what's the difference, but it is just like that, maybe I should go get a new card.
Thanks everyone.
good
as one of the boys ur sim might be damaged/old (power failure issues most likely)

yeah, just what confused me is that the sim card still work with my other phones.
Hey guys,
Long time lurker here... and I'm having the same problem.
I have a foreign (Cyprus CytaMobile Vodaphone) SIM in my Kaiser. A couple times over the last few days I was getting the "no service" but if I reset (turn on/off) the device it was fine. Today I cannot get service on it at all. I tried it in an unlocked 1G iPhone and it didn't seem to work either.
I thought maybe the SIM is dead, however when the device it's in starts up, it asks me for the PIN set on the SIM card. I enter the PIN, and it unlocks the SIM. How could the SIM be dead if the PIN authenticates? However, when I put my regular Canadian Rogers SIM in, it works fine.
Where it usually says "Searching.." on the home screen, I once got "Denied, searching.." but I haven't been able to reproduce it.
Any ideas? The provider doesn't have a local roaming agreement, however for the past year it has always registered on the network and allowed me to check balance and send text messages.
Is it most likely a dead SIM or blocked by Rogers? I'm doubting the blocked part, but the successful PIN entry is what has me baffled...
Thanks!
Chris
Ok different SIM card also from Cyprus Cytamobile in a SE w810 does the same thing. Is Rogers seriously all of a sudden blocking these? There is no local roaming agreement, however I would always get the Rogers welcome text's and even be able to check balances. I've been doing this off and on for 4 years...
Anyone ever heard of something like this?
Thanks,
Chris
P.S. Sorry, getting a bit off topic but I thought the initial problem was related!
EDIT: Ok, I can also see all the SIM contacts and SMS messages stored on the SIM.

I also have the same problem with my tytn, I have a bad feeling it is hardware If you manage to find the problem please let me know. I have tried the paper thing and also all new firmware and OS nothing helps
Try setting it to GSM only (disable 3G) and see what happens.
To do that go to Settings->Personal->Phone->Band->Network Type=GSM.
If it works then, you might want to read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419803

[Q] Does "SIM network unlock PIN" necessarily mean the phone is just locked?

[Q] Does "SIM network unlock PIN" necessarily mean the phone is just locked?
Hi all, so here's the story - I bought a used Samsung Vibrant (at&t galaxy s 1), upgraded to 2.2 to get the unlock code, unlocked it. I then tested it with my GiffGaff (o2 UK simcard) and it worked fine. Then I proceeded to flash CM7.1 on it and just assumed that it remained unlocked and forwarded it onto my friend in Japan.
Now that he recieved it, he put his softbank sim in and he's getting a "SIM network unlock pin" prompt when the phone is turned on. Now, I'm a bit confused as to why that's happening because I had previously unlocked the phone.
My questions are A) could flashing to a new rom have un-done the unlock? I thought not...but I can't seem to remember if I ever read that or just think that B) does "SIM network unlock pin" indeed only point to the fact that the phone is locked? From the various threads here that I've seen that contain the same message, it appears so...but I just want to double check?
The main issue is that there's another message saying 9/10 attempts, so I'm afraid to just give him (show him how to obtain) the lock code again.... if he did try it, and for whatever reason it didn't work, would it be as good as bricked? (I can remember back in the days when I would unlock the old school non-smartphones that once you reached the X or Y tries for entering the lock pin, it would become unusable)
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
update: oh man, I just found out that I sent him the wrong captivate...problem solved....his is indeed locked/etc. sorry!

Verizon Droid 3 XT862 in Peru

Hello. I ordered from Amazon.com a used Droid 3, which used to be on the Verizon network. I am in Peru, and was planning on using the phone with a SIM card on the Movistar network. Powering on the phone with the SIM installed resulted in the phone asking me for "SIM network unlock PIN" I thought it was the SIM PIN, so i tried that a couple times, no no avail. Then, I found online that the default PIN is "000000" or "123456" so I tried those, at which point my phone came up with the message "Phone is subsidy locked" (or something to that effect)
I called Verizon in the US, and the tech support guy said the phone shouldn't be locked, and that the EMEI isn't on any lost/stolen lists. Am I now stuck with a $50 paperweight? Can I unlock it or root it or reflash it in this condition? Right now, I have the SIM out and I can use it on WiFi and download apps and stuff, but it is basically useless as a phone at this point.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Thought I would reply here too, in case someone thinks about trying to help. I replied to your thread on a different site. You have sent phone back, so there is nothing left to try, at the moment.
Thanks for getting back to me. I still have the phone at the moment. I have until Saturday to figure it out, otherwise I'll send it back to the US with my MIL. Please, do tell, what's your secret?
Also, what site did you reply on? I've been all over the Motorola pages for the last week looking for solutions. (I solved the MB508 issue, so I don't have to send those back.)
No secret, and no fix

Oh well. Thanks anyway.
