Hello all,
I just got myself a Touch HD after waiting for a long time. I'm excited to be here and get to know a lot about my device after extensive reading on this forum. Its really well done and very very resourceful. Kudos to all you guys who are making this happen
Now, coming back to my device .. Ive had certain issues with my device and I wanna know from you guys if flashing to another ROM is necessary or not.
ROM Version : 1.18.723.3
Radio Version : 1.09.25.14
Touch Flo 3D version : 1.3.356******
My Concerns at the moment
1. TouchFlo 3D is not smooth at certain times and it gets stuck for a couple of seconds and its annoying.
2. Messaging screen hangs if i try to type my message quickly.
3. Phone takes about 3-4 seconds before it starts ringing.
4. I cannot flip through the mails from the touch flo 3d view.
5. The phone is constantly trying to connect to EDGE network. Even though i turn it off it still happens.
What I've done to correct these after referring the forums.
1. I'm not sure if I can update just the Touch flo 3d to a higher version without updating the ROM. So I havent done anything yet
2. I've tried to tweak the registry and also used HD Tweak to correct the ringing problem but still no good.
What I've installed on fone so far ?
1. I've got S2U2, HD Tweak , and some apps for Windows Market place.
What I really need ?
1. A smooth touch flo 3d version like the one for TP2 Sprint version [Its awesome]
2. Ring without delay
3. Smooth and easy messaging.
Now please suggest if a new ROM will fix these problems or I could just do away with cab files that could fix this problem ?
If a new ROM is required , based on "What i really need" can you suggest something which would get me close to or exactly the same ROM which is running on the TP2 Sprint version.
PS : I typed out a long description , so please excuse me if I went out of track and if somethings are unclear
@ MODS : I just realised that I may have posted in the wrong section. Please move it if necessary.
Hey,
I guess you're using a stock winmo 6.1 ROM. IMHO the stock ROMS are not as fast as some of the cooked ROMS found here. Difference between winmo 6.1 and winmo 6.5 is just personal taste but I prefer the 6.5 because of its finger friendly UI. Drawback is most of the ROMS drain the battery faster compared to 6.1. Maybe you can try a 6.5 ROM and see if you like it. I like Energy and Xannytech Roms, but again, that's personal taste. You can just flash a few and see what u like best.
As for the GPRS problem, some ROMS have cooked in apps for this, but I like WM Longlife as u can customize alot, ranging from completely disabling GPRS to not put it on when roaming. I hope I helped u a bit
Well , it is a stock rom as i just got this device last week. It was shipped from HK.
About flashing ROM's to my device , im still a lil too skeptical as I'm running Windows 7 and most of the flashing guides have reference to either vista or earlier versions of windows.
I also remember reading about a guy trying to flash a cooked rom and he was running Windows 7 and he claims to have bricked the device and it just refuses to turn on.
I'm still going through the wiki and downloading all the necessary tools required to flash my device. Once i'm a confident and comfortable I will go ahead and try out all the ROM's. I'm sure to get addicted to it.
And btw, if i flash the ROM to some cooked ROM and I decide to go back to stock ROM , will pushing the tiny reset button under the battery get my fone back to stock ROM ?
Like you, when I first got my HD, I was a bit concerned of bricking my device if I flash to a custom ROM. But let me tell you, with the stock ROM of yours, you wont see the full potential of your HD...I too experienced those things you mentioned and suffered for a while...if you feel its too early for you to flash, then just check some possible fix for your concern in cabs. I believe the HTC site has a fix for this typing delay bug, not sure about the ring issue.
But if you think its time, then read this Dummies Guide and just a heads up, flashing can be very addictive...so GET READY TO BECOME A FLASH-AHOLIC!

Spot on ! I'm on XDA like all the time - @ work , @ school .. you name it .
I want to learn as much as possible before I try experimenting anything.
I did try all the patches that HTC has offered but , it hasnt fixed it. HD Tweak was really good and to some extent has solved my problems.
Does Windows 7 have anything to do while flashing the ROM , I mean do i need to take care of anything before I go ahead just in case in the future ?

If you use HDSPL to protect your device then you are fine with Windows 7. However, if you use USPL then look <<HERE>>. Once again if you use HDSPL, then skip above drivers and follow <<HERE>>
Wait a second. Have you tried installing some 3D drivers first? And do you realize that Windows Mobile 6.1 is FASTER than 6.5?

I havent installed the 3D Drivers as yet. Does it enhance the performance of TF3D ?
I havent tried the 6.5 yet as i'm still on the stock ROM , but after i saw a video on youtube of Dutty's 3.9x turbo running 6.5 , i really want to try that ROM as it looked really smooth and fast.

Been following this site for weeks and it is getting more popular eacha nd every time someone buys a Diamond phone, so keep up the good work.
I have finally decided to see what I can do with mine by upgrading the ROM and I would appriciate any advice you guys can give me as i am a totally newbie.
Here are the details:
It is on T-Mobile (UK)
Version -
1.37.110.3 WWE
06/20/08
1.00.25.03
Thanks
Hello there!
Not sure what you mean by upgrading the rom? Guess you mean applying a cooked rom?
A cooked rom is one thats been customised and is flashed over the top of your current rom, in your case probably a "stock" or out of the box/factory rom.
First thing to do in your case would be to upgrade the Radio. You may well need to run the HardSPL (I needed developer edition) and then apply the radio upgrade.
From then on, its up to you which cooked rom you run as they all have advantages and disadvantages. For example, im running the Diamond TLR rom as I don't like touchflo (i think its a gimmick that slows things down - drasticaly). Using this rom i'm able to uninstall touchflo and free up significant memory. This suits me down to the ground but not those who want to use touchflo!
Take a look at the wiki (mostly) and the Rom development sub-section of this Diamond section of the forums. As long as you follow the Wiki instructions on HardSPL and then use a rom specifically for a touch diamond, you should be fine.
Be very carefull though and DOUBLE check everything, one wrong flash program and you can destroy your phone.
Have fun!
p.s. Many people think that the factory 1.37.xx roms are the most stable, even more than the later versions. I'm running a TLR based 1.37something and I am very happy with it and never have to reboot my phone.
Got it....Its all here
Hi Lats... I've tried a variety of roms on my Compact IV and I have to say, me and my colleagues at work find that Swiftblades roms are pretty much as good as they come. He's now released version 5.0 and if you're still on the original T-mobile rom, then you'll notice one hell of a difference and improvement in speed and usability.
Go for it and don't worry if your concerned about warranty, there is a stock T-mobile rom floating around on the forum and instructions on how to return your Compact IV back to it's original state.
If you find the whole rom thing confusing, then take a look at this site:- www.modmydiamond.info It'll pretty much tell you everything.
Basically though, you'll find there are 3 phases to upgrading
1) HardSPL - In laymans terms, this pretty much opens the phone up for flashing roms. Most people seem to go for and recommend using Hard-SPL 1.40 Olinex Developers Edition-Unsigned. There are consequences to using an unsigned version, it means you could in theory download and install a dodgy untested Rom, but it's up to you to go for roms on the thread from reputable guys where you can see lots of other people have installed their tried and tested roms.
Once you've done this, you'll not need to do this again.
2) The Radio - This deals with the comms side of the phone, ie phone signal strength etc etc. It's pretty much been agreed by most people that v1.00.25.05 appears to be the best of the bunch.
3) Lastly choose a rom, there are half a dozen really good roms out there and many of them are down to personal choice. Many of them are customised too much for my liking. I chose Swifts as he pretty much keeps his clean and looking like a stock rom.
You'll only have to do the Hard-SPL once and probably the radio once, unless a better radio arrives. So once you've done all this, you can keep trying different roms without the need to do the Hard-SPL and radio all over again.
Hope this clarifies things a bit for you.
Good luck and have fun!
Thanks ever so much guys. I already feel alot more confident about this. Just one question... guide suggests the following:-
Manually enter the Bootloader by pressing the Power button, Camera button and performing a soft reset at the same time
Where is the camera button and it sounds as I need 3 hands to do this!
They're refering to the main round button below your screen in the middle of the 4 buttons, and yes you need 3 hands, but you can just about do it with 2
Let us know which ROM you upgrade to - I'm on the same ROM and radio as you are. Bit nervous about flashing the rom as my last phone (Vario II/Hermes) had to go back a month after I had it due to the screen alignment issues. After the warranty expired, I was flashing daily (lol) and yes, they do make a big difference.
I've got a copy of the UK Tmobile rom from this site, but cant remember the page now or what i typed in to get it... will try again later. It's called "RUU_Victor_TMO_UK_1.37.110.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03_Ship"

That is for last resort methods only...
Ensure you are connnected via activesync when doing any flashing, remembering to hard reset again after every flash,
Yeah, most definetly I will let you know but I think it will be over the weekend now. I had a quick attempt to get bootloader going, but it don't look easy. Phone just resets everytime and just reboots back to normal.
If anyone has any tips on which buttons I need to press first or if there is any easier way of doing this, I'm listening.

If you want to flash any ROM - you dont need to manually enter boot loader to do so...
As I mentioned before.
just make sure you have active-sync running and working and the battery id over %50 charged.
I'll be doing this tonight
The Tmobile stock rom can be found here

Hi all,
for some reason, when i mess around with my phone, and install stuff, the people tabs stops working, and its starting to really bug me.
It seems that when i install stuff it happens, like just now. I had some themes and a font installed, and the phone was running perfect, and now, i just installed something else, and the people tab has died!
Does anybody know of the reason for this? Do i have a faulty phone?

I dont have any problems with this phone what so ever (using Duttys latest 2.5). To me it sounds like your installing faulty applications.
Its nothing that loads of people on here havent installed on their devices!
then you must be doing something wrong because this is the first i've heard of this problem
Actually I have the same problem. For some reason the entries of faforite people dissapear from the people tab. I run a stock Dutch ROM with nothing special...
Anybody know a solution?

Yup thats exactly what happens to me. Do you get an error report and then it goes back to the home screen and says launching touch flo 3d?
I run a stock ROM, and its really bugging me, because the good thing about win mo is that ability to install these kinds of apps, but im afraid to because the chances are it will bring back this errror.
I really don't understand why plp stay with crappy/buggy old roms... just because they are official... you should spend 10 minutes to cook one of the newest roms here around and you'll see how many steps they are forward to "official" ones

Agreed....I hate to say this gents, but the original ROMs that HTC publish are not as good as you think they are
If I were you I would pick a resectable ROM that looks like what you require, set your PDA up and "flash" away all the quirks and bugs that HTC introduce to the device!
I know its not right, but thats life with HTC.......
Official ROMs are fine.... until you find this forum
then you start installing apps... tweaking... uninstalling... it all gets messy.
You baisically try and create what custom ROMs do on top of a 'Official' ROM. Best advice is to Flash a ROM, you can always put it back to 'out of the box condition' by flashing the SPL and Official ROM back (i've had to twice for repairs )
if you are talking about your favorites clearing, that happened to me when i moved the people tab. i bet your favorites are hard coded to that location so moving or altering it messes it up in some way.
Hi Guys,
I'm using touch x ultimate on my xperia and its been amazing, but last night I had to use the soft-reset button because the HTC interface had jammed up, usually takes a few minutes but after the s-e logo showed up, it just went black. Tried for ages to make it work, nothing. I had to load up the boot-loader and update the rom, well 'update' as in re-install the same rom.
Its quite a worrying thing to happen, I lost all my data, loads of important stuff.
Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem, and If not why would it have occured!
Many thanks
Go for a change!
Hey u better go for touch it rom by itje or gtrab's 6.5 roms. Touch x ultimate is no longer updated and supported by the cook. It still has some bugs. I had to soft reset my device atleast twice a day when using touch x rom. It hangs so often. Right now im using gtrabs 6.5 rom. Until now its great. cheers!
Not sure why this occured on your device but.....It is still supported by the creator, he is just not cooking until a stable 6.5 platform comes out....ummm and if you look all (hense the hundreds of posts saying "Great rom...butttt"...lol)of the cooked roms have bugs, so if he is looking for a solution...then ask the creator of the rom...if you are worried about using a cooked rom....then the option to go back to a stock rom is always available.

WC

Hi,
same problem here, using Valkyrie Firestorm 2.1 ROM . Basically a good ROM, but since i can't trust it this will be the reason why i change the ROM again.
I use touch x 10.1 Blue and so far no problems at all. Could it be something you've installed after flashing that's caused it?

I Use Firestorm since Wednesday. First Crash happened without any hint. After a normal Softreset it stuck and after a long time waiting suddenly the setup screen of windows mobile appeared.
The Second Crash was today after installing Fingerkeyboard 2.1 (wvga version) . After the konfig screen appeared the phone freezes and i had to reboot using the stylus, then Hardreset followed (and no, i did not press the two silverbuttons in the middle of the phone in addition)
btw: now, fingerkeyboard runs perfectly. I will wait and see, syncing my data all the time not to loose something.
When the Phone hardresets itself one more time, i must react. Fortunately i have vacation at the moment..
and sorry for my bad english, im from germany

That´s exactly my problems with the Valkyrie 2.1 as well.
All I can say from my experience is this....sometimes when "beta" programs are used with other "beta" software...because in essence all of 6.5 is beta and ported from another device to work with the xperia....you will have random weirdness...things work one day...the next they don't....Yes they may look pretty and may have the latest and greatest so to speak in them, but with too many customizations,tweaks,mods....things are bound to break sooner or later....So this may be something to consider before flashing a cooked rom as opposed to sticking with a stock rom....

Just to inform you guys if there are people out there like me...
I have reverted back to the Standard WM6.0 HK WWE Rom, as I have tried every single ROM availble on this forums, but nothing seemed to work 100% for me, there was always a draw back in every single ROM I have tried, except this one that I been running for the last month.
Yes it is old and outdated, but surprizingly, everything works 100%, no problems, no lock ups, no keyboard lags, battery is lasting longer etc.
So it looks a bit dull and boring, but maybe the more stuff added to the roms the more things can go wrong.
I'll be honest I appreciated everyone's efforts in creating the best ROMS available on this forum, but like I said no rom was working 100% for ME, so I'm not ungreatfull
Hopefully the ROMS made on this forums works 100% for you guys, but just thought I'd share this for the people like me. So dont flame me please
This is my little 2c contribution to the forums.
I have found mine as well: a standard WM6.1 WWE from HTC (the latest shipped rom). And as an addition: Eclair v2.0.1 . These both do almost everything I want them to .
However, I have been swithching a lot to JJblasters work as well: that works beautifull .

and which rom is that cos i wanna try it too....
Never
I liked Josh's Kaiser Rom "21929 Hybrid" I was using it since it was released with NO problems. Wonderfully stable Rom, which is the only reason I waited so long to jump on the 6.5 bandwagon (as of yesterday). Glad you found something you are satisfied with, but I doubt I will ever settle for any one rom permanently.
Going back to 6.0 is not " finding your rom ". it is going back to your old Volkswagen because the new Ferrarris and Lamborghinis are too complicated and hard to drive.
The Rom I have is here : http://www.asia.htc.com/download/RU..._radio_sign_22.51.88.13_1.27.15.32R2_Ship.exe
If everyone is interested, give it a shot
And by the way Denco, I'm hectically in IT, I just need something that works 100% and 100% all the time
Not in the mood to battle with problematic roms.

If you need something that works 100% & 100% of the time, why even bother with flashing non-stock ROMs? I'm in IT as well, and I'm running Eclair 2.01 on top of jjblasters 28014. The issues that crop up don't prevent me from doing my job, and help me be better educated as to what's coming down the road.
Either way, to each their own. Enjoy your boring, bland, feature-less stock ROM and I'll enjoy the cutting edge.
My fav rom running over 1 year, Never need to reboot except if I remove battery or install new cabs.

I've been running stock ROMs forever, or at least since AT&T US released the Tilt 6.1 updates. Work fairly well.
The Android builds work anywhere from not at all to very well. I'm working on Eclair now. Seems very stable. Someone is working on battery life now, seems to be less than 8 hours now, so that might be a problem. Several things don't work, but nothing I can't live without.
If you are starting from the beginning, I suggest getting a couple of Class 6 MicroSD 4GB cards, heading to http://www.androidonhtc.com/kaiser/install, installing 1.5 or 1.6 on the card, and playing with it for awhile. See if you like it. There are ZIP files to download that you unzip and copy to the SD card.
You boot your normal ROM, get to WinMobile, then start up Android from the SD. So it doesn't do anything to your standard phone. It just all of a sudden is running only Android. If you want WinMobile, you just shutdown, and restart to WinMobile. No pain.
After that, you start replacing various files to get to the version of Android that you want. As I said, sometimes you get very unstable, but when that happens, just return to the previous stable version.
It's like getting a free new phone! Or at least one for the prices of some SD cards.

which ROM
well.. I ve tried many ROMS.. but frankly felt shifu's version 4 was good. I dint face any problems with that ROM.
all other were buggy I agree.. and the original shipped ROM has to be good.
Ha, I have the same thoughts. I`ve tried a lot of roms, some of them was quite good but not in 100%. That was boring and if You use seriously your phone with a lot of important files, contacts, calendar appointmets it is hard to keep averything right when changing frequently roms. this is quite nice feature to change os to something You like, but not for serius usage. Somebody compare standard rom to Volkswagen, rebuidled to ferrari. So what that You have ferrari if itis not capable to run ?
pawelpaciorek : That is exactly what I'm talking about, I have tried most 6.5 roms on this forum and to keep on changing my roms and back up my contacts, reinstalling every single app (skype, gps, garmin etc etc etc) was just irretating me coz the ROM wasnt functioning propperly.
Luckily for now I set my phone up on our work's MS exchange server, so restoring contacts etc has become a bit easier.
Coz i once tried like 5 ROMS a day, and just got too irretated, to do all the above.
I believe its because the 6.5 roms are still in Beta, and no matter what, the Chefs cant really turn a Beta product into a full working one.
So its not the Chefs fault, its the fact that the Base of the 6.5 roms aren't completed.
I'm actually looking forward in changing my rom to Android as soon as it becomes available as a stand alone OS (somehow I doubt this will happen for Kaiser) but yeah
I have found my ROM as well.
It's not stock, it's not 6.5. In fact, I hate 6.5 ROMs running on Kaiser.
Everytime I flash a different ROM I go back to my safe ROM in a matter of days. Even recent ROMs made by the same chef are not as fast and stable.
I've a got a 6.1 ROM, memory hacked, fast, and stable.
I'm not telling what ROM it is in this topic though.
I have hated the 6.5.x roms for Kaiser because they have all been buggy, slow, or some cross of the two. But I will say this:
TPC "Stock Like" 23071 is FASTER than the GENUINE At&t 6.1 ROM!!!! And stability is almost flawless... no crashes of any kind.
Only problem I have with stock roms, which is what causes me the headache of flashing to try new roms is the feature set AT&T uses SUCKS and the OS tends to be bogged down with bloatware EVEN when soft resetting just before the customization screen.
The HTC home plugin is ugly, and makes landscape practically unviewable. The settings are horrible in 6.1, and the functionality is mutilated. 6.5 has fantastic functionality at the price of very few stable or even speedy builds.
As I stated, the one I am using is TPC Stock Like 23071 (NOT 28002 which has the sleep death that is to date not curable in the 28002 builds).

BTW, the newer radio (1.71 eMonster) is definitely a necessity!
Moved to Kaiser General as not ROM Development...
Found my ROM
Amen to that

What country are you in? I tried that one and found the GPS fix was nowhere near as fast here in the UK. Maybe it's quick in the countries it's intended for though.... I never tried running my (older) favourite 1.27.12.32 Radio on it and that may have made a difference (if it was fully compatible). I don't rember, does it have a network connection wizard including countries such as the UK because one of the WWE WM 6.0 ROMs I tried only had S.E.A. countries listed and that posed a problem with getting it to work here (it couldn't get all the required settings automatically once I started the phone with its O2 sim). Yes I guess I could have manually installed a cab version of a full wizard but who wants to do that after any hard reset (and I still do those every few months when things start to slow down).
I'm hectically in IT, I just need something that works 100% and 100% all the time

Been there done that (was a computer technician) and I know what you mean. The GUI may be a bit more sluggish and boot times longer but at least you get what you want - in my case the most important thing being brilliant GPS performance.
Wouldn't open up a thread for this question but any custom ROM (RECENT EDITIONS) I've tried (NRGZ's, Sergio's, Ark's, Athine's and some others) for several days now have the "dead aka black" screen issue. Tried to find an answer in the original ROM-threads but haven't got any substancial responses. It seems like only few people have these issues. This would make me think the problem is my hardware (German Generic TP2) but the older ROMs of same chefs then run normal and without the dead screen issues.
Please any ideas, solution suggestions or experience share?
Thanks! Ibster
Edit: confirmed solution method described in post# 10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5934002&postcount=10 . Thank you agent 47 big time for the tool you provided!

Is this the same as the "Sleep of Death" (SOD)? In which the phone won't wake from sleep/suspend state and has to be soft-reset?
If not, what's the symptom exactly?

i also exprence it on my Tilt 2. is there any help out there
It's because chiefs have updated their XIP. Ask them to cook a rom for you with the old XIP from stock HTC WM6.5 Sense 2.1 rom.
Ach, that's just my theory based on my experience. I might be wrong, so keep that in mind.
I have a similar issue, but not exactly the sleep of death
A lot of times when I unlock the phone, Sense would not show up, only the taskbar and occasionally the bottom bar
Everything is responsive, the taskbar notification works, hardware buttons works, but not the sense part in the middle
This usually happens when I'm having an SMS conversation
I run this setup most of the time:
WM 6.5.x
Sense 2.5
HD mini lockscreen with Smartlock 2.0F or Lockdevice 1.6
Same here on the SMS black screen

I just started having this problem with the newest Leo Cell Pro, I have not had it with any NRG or Deep Shinig ROMS though but I do like The cell pro details and the others are not without there faults. I like your screenshots and I can hardly wait for that new white theme to come out. I think it will make my phone so much better outdoors and enhance the Windroid look I am workin on.

Yes....interesting that I've never had this issue on Energy's...my guess is he doesn't cook in the latest HTC SMS client which can be unstable at times
Are you talking about Elcondor's GTX theme? Yes that is a very awesome theme
I couldn't wait until 201x version comes out so I made my own Not as good as GTX but I'm half satisfied now

like i mentioned in the the post#1 I had these problems with almost all recent (last two weeks) custom ROM releases, ROMs of different chefs. Because others or the majority of people don't have any problems with that I thought the reason must be hardware issues. yesterday I saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191 opened by agent_47 where he provides a modified tool:
agent_47 said:
when u flash a rom, you are copying files onto the internal memory (like duh!) but if u repeatadly flash different roms, sometimes files from older version stays behind as when u flash a rom, you just copy and sometimes overwrite files without deleting the older ones. hence at times these older files may create bugs\instability. hardrest donot always fix it.so we use MTTY

Well I used it and have flashed to Sergio's Leo Cell Evo 6 and I can confirm that I haven't had any "sleep of death" issues, well still haven't and hope I won't have this "SOD" issue anymore. And when I tried this same ROM before I wasn't even able to make a proper configuration and set up the phone because the phone always froze or as soon the screen went off I wasn't able to activate it back without soft reset.
So maybe this is a solution and could help others who also are having this issue of "sleep of death".
Please if you try the tool from the mentioned agent_47's thread, let know us here because it will be very useful for the rest of the users to finally figure out "the dark side" of their phone and fix it.
Cheers, Ibster
Solution
I had this just recently. Funny side was that I installed an official new ROM from HTC which I just updated. Somehow the phone just didn't want to turn on and show the screen. So just like you guys said, hard-reset did the thing but just when the screen went off, same thing happened.
So what I did was wipe/clean or any other name. Practically did the installation of the rom again. Now, the device works normally and without any problems.
Maybe this happens because some old files of older ROMS sayed on the device itself and started making problems. Anyways, check this thread too, maybe it will explain something more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191
Or, final explanation. Our Rhodiums have soul inside their little chips and they just simply fu.k with us They tell us they're too tired of so many ROM changes.
I have also had this problem with my two latest official swedish roms (manilla 2.1 and 2.5) cant remember if I had it when I used 6.1. Now I use a cooked rom and still have the issue several times a week. The only thing I had done with my Rhodium before using cooked Rom was flashing hard spl for future use. If its not an inbuilt hardware/software problem from the beginning the only thing I can point at in my case is hard spl?

back with my kaiser you always had to flash back to stock before going to a new ROM no matter what, for just this very reason...
could flashing back to stock be a 'best practice' that we as users should start doing to help with this issue?
I - have had some xperience with the issue in a few ROMS. Im a loyal flasher of Agent 47s masterpieces. And a month or so ago he had like 2 or 3 builds that had this issue. From what I remember he said that he thought it had to do with some sys evrybody was using to cook roms. and after her came out with this diagnosis and "fixed"(i dont know the technical part of what was fixed) this problem it has never happened since. But a good thing I would say to try is in Agents thread about 4 or so pages from the last page(maybe more or less) but close to the last page he posted a .zip file for this mitty fix. and you essentially flash this zip just like a rom then reflash which ever rom you had or a new one and ta da. Ive also heard of people reflashing a stock rom with results from doing so but from what Agent said is flashing a stock rom then back technicaly "shouldnt" do anything and to definately use mitty. But one of the other frequent valkyrie users that I chat with all the time Mcbrian who posted here on the first page has used the stock rom and did have whatever issue he had cured dont remember what that was tho.
UPDATE- Oh I guess that Agent has a thread for Tool29 so you dont have to search through his thread to find it.
I can confirm agent 47 method is working for me. I no longer have the sleep of death. But its only been half a day. I will report back in a few days.

Great! I'm glad to hear your confirmation. I now on my side haven't had a sleep of death for three days on the ROM (Cell Leo V6) that previously, before I used the agent_47's tool, couldn't even start normally at all or had extremely many "sleeps of death". But I also noticed overall improvements even though the speed slows down but there are barely any freezes and stability is much better.
Cheers, Ibster

I did tried agent 47 method at least three times this weekend. I did exactly what agent 47 instructed, flash Energy ROM 23547 with MaxManila = failed to initiated. Flash Tool29 again, reflash Energy ROM 23545 from MicroSD = Failed. Flash Athine OS XTreme = Worked, install MaxManila 3.0 on top of Athine OS Xtreme = Corrupted the manila display. Reflash stock ROM. Flash Deep Shining X.23544 = Worked. Flash Deep Shining X.23547 = Failed.
Look like I can get my phone to work but can't move on from now on! Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I'm not very clear about what you mean by failed. Do you mean you can't flash some of the ROMs or you get screens of death with them?
What I did was this: I took out the SD card. Ran the tool29 modified by agent_47 (see post 10 of this thread). After the tool finished cleaning all internal memory the phone went back on but got stuck in loading. I took the battery out of phone for few seconds and then put it back in. Then I connected the USB cable to the phone and started it in the bootloader mode by quickly pressing and releasing the switch button and then hitting the volume down. On the tricolor screen then it shows USB. Then I just flashed my ROM of choice normally with USB without need to flash from SD. I've done this several time with several ROMs without problems.

Thanks for quick response. Yes. I did exactly what you spelled out in the message. i.e: Remove the memory card, Run Tool29, remove the battery, got into the bootloader mode, then flashed with USB connection. The phone went to the initial setup, I clicked the T-Mobile connection ....etc... then it restart - then stopped at "Launching HTC Sense...." This is = failed for me. i.e: Failed to clean the internal memory!
By the way, if the internal memory is cleaned, shouldn't the Start->Setting->Device Information->Software Information: Incoming Call & Outgoing Call reset to 0?
Thanks

Your steps should be
1. Shutdown tp2..
2. Remove memory card( I also removed sim card).
3. Turn on tp2, connect through the computer through active sync.
4. Run task 29. Let it load flash, whatever it is doing until it actually reboots.
5. At this point, everything should be cleaned, you don't have a rom or radio anymore, so its blank, so you "pull battery out."
6. Put memory card/sim card back in. Flash radio through boot whatever menu. Soft reset it yourself. Pull battery out again.
7. Flash rom this time, and soft reset it again. Now rom should start setting up.
This shouldn't be rocket science.
