Have you considered the possibility that this may be related to your ISP? Tethering works, and the components used for tethering in the phone don't care if you are receiving an HTML file or a PNG image -- data is data.
My ISP is Tmobile USA. I'm on the east coast

I also have Tmo, and notice this too. The strange thing is that the image will load in the phone browser, but not in my computer browser when tethered.

Since you mentioned it might be ISP related, I decided to provide the name of my ISP in hope of someone posting a way to circumvent the problem.
Rather than mentioning it (which is useless), you need to TEST it and post RESULTS.

How would I prove that. I believe all http data comes in the same port. I can't view pictures while they're integrated into webpages, but if I type in the URL of the jpg it would load by iteself.

I have the newest AT&T 6.1 ROM on my Tilt. I've noticed that via WIFI, I can view information on the web through IE, that I can't via the 3G network.
I have a securities practice test site that I enter to study for exams. If I jump into WIFI (home or Starbucks, etc.), I can view the practice test questions. If I'm NOT on WIFI, the test questions don't load...
Can anyone tell me why this happens? And, is there a way around it?
****Skyfire has NO problem at all with OR without WIFI. But I don't like the way the zoom feature with Skyfire shows the material, and I have to adjust it each page. Painfully frustrating. Opera, like IE, does NOT allow the viewing of the test questions either. ONLY Skyfire loads the entire page when NOT on WIFI.
Thanks for your help...
It sounds to me that it is likely a javascript problem. I'm not so sure PIE handles javascript at all.
If the page has javascript it may not display correctly, or possibly not at all.

Thanks for the reply. Here's the thing. It'll work FINE if I'm using the WIFI on my Tilt. It's ONLY when I use the phone (H, 3G) to access the web. It seems that the WIFI connections have something that my H or 3G connection via the phone doesn't. But thanks for the input.
Seems that this is a hard one to figure out. But I appreciate your stab at it with me.

How about coverage? But seriously, have you tried it in other areas?
think U will nid this..
something abt hidden proxy for PIE...
I had the same problem few days back after flashing a rom..
no problems when using opera mini.. only PIE giving problems.
Could be the carrier proxy being used through IE. Naturally via WiFi you cannot use the ATT proxy . Skyfire uses its own proxy thus the issue at hand.
Noticed this issue too on some sites. You could report it to the carrier but dont count on immediate resolution.

Thanks for the reply. I think you guys have cured the IE problem!!!! I JUST loaded the removehiddenproxy cab and the information came up in IE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Now, Opera STILL doesn't show the information (I would rather use Opera), so if there was a way to do the SAME thing for Opera, that would be COOL! But the cab sure cured the IE problem. Anyone know if there's a "removehiddenproxy" cab that works for Opera?

This makes PERFECT sense!!! Thank you for your help. This means that Opera 9.5 Beta probably has the "hidden proxy" as well! Know how I can remove that other than contacting Opera developers (I don't know HOW I would do that...)?

I am certain I am having issues with my phones basic connectivity, i.e messaging/phonecalls etc. Is there any constant ping almost I can do to test my connection in various places?
I am not bothered about speed, I can test my 3G speed etc, I basically would ideally want an app that constantly pings the server (or something similar) and advises when messages/phonecalls could not be sent/made and when they could?
Thanks in advance.

ping will only help with data - voice/messaging doesn't have a server that you can ping.
this might help? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antispycell.connmonitor

*edit* OK, that was easy. On the second tab there's a start box. Looks like it runs for 24 hours and will record all of your app connections to data. Nothing for voice and messages. Probably won't help you much unless you have an app that get's updates every 5 minutes.
What makes you think you have a connection problem anyway?
I happened to look at the Chromecast app since it updated yesterday and there was another CC showing but needed setup. Considering problems some have had with WiFi reception including myself, I find this odd that I'm seeing one of my neighbor's CC.

Not odd at all...
It might appear as if it needs setting up but that is really only indicating that it is not on your local WiFi but could be connected to another.
Doesn't mean you couldn't hijack it if you wanted to however.

Yeah but as long as there is nothing to interfere with the radio signal you can see lots of things...Connecting to them may be problematical but seeing them is almost always possible even as far away as a Quarter mile in an area that doesn't have a lot of RF signals floating around.

Check if it's your CC by unplugging it and scanning again. One of mine once booted up in a mode where it was simultaneously connected to my network and broadcasting its setup AP. It was the weirdest thing and hasn't happen since, but my Chromecasts pretty much never reboot unless I tell them to.

What makes you think it shouldn't be able to? If it is ready for setup then you should be able to....
What may be happening is the router to which that belongs to is off or they are using a mobile hotspot for their internet in which case when the router leaves the CCast goes into setup.

I'm assuming that it just shows ready to setup because it's not setup on my network.
Presently it's showing up again so I tried to set it up and got "Could not connect to your Chromecast. Make sure your Chromecast is nearby".
EDIT
Wait a minute! Yesterday, I think, I tried and got the "Do you see this number", have to try a few more times.

Actually I'm not entirely sure on this (Have not tested it)
But I'm pretty certain that it says "ready to set up" even when connected to an AP when it is not connected to the same AP as you!
And it makes sense that it does just in case the Ccast somehow connects to the wrong AP or an Open one that isn't yours.
So the App sees the CCast and can set it up. You may not be able to connect to it via the WiFi in AP mode, but you probably can still send it a setup command if it is in range via the App.
Not much different than telling it to load an App really.

No, you can't see a Chromecast that is connected to a different AP from what you're connected to, at least not when everything is working as it should...
Not configured, Not connected
Chromecast goes into setup mode as an open wireless access point named Chromecast#### (some 4-digit number)
Not configured, Connected
This should not be possible. Really.
Configured, Not connected
Chromecast goes into setup mode as an open wireless access point named Chromecast#### (some 4-digit number)
Configured, Connected
Chromecast is in normal mode as a wireless client
However, as I noted, I did have one instance where Chromecast was configured, and was connected, but still broadcasted its setup AP. I really should have investigated more, but I was freaked out and rebooted it - and things were normal after that.
I tried a few more times and once I had a popup stating that I was trying to connect to another router not mine. I know by the default name that it's another AT&T Uverse RG as the name is always 2WIRExxxx. I even tried going back to the previous version of the Chromecast app version but nothing changed. I'm using WiFi Fixer app and tried disabling it as well thinking that it may interfere some how.
One try locked my tablet up.

When I switch to mobile data network on AT&T it downloads just fine. This is ridiculous, I've never had restrictions on this ISP before. I'm about to call cox right now. I have, for years. They block high profile irc networks dns by redireting it to their own server (which then auto joins your user to a channel and tries to run a lot of botnet commands to uninstall a botnet client in the event you are compromised). I used to have to deal with this a lot years ago when I was on irc frequently. They will deny it, but they have been doing stuff like that for years.
Then again, it could be some sort of dns issue that will work itself out.

It just strange that this is happening and I'm reading reports where people other than me seem to be having the same issue. I guess I was hoping for some direction or trouble shooting suggestions from XDA forums as I honestly wouldn't know of a better place to search for assistance. Is there any suggestions that might help me back track the issue. I've honestly tried everything I know. I purposely side loaded two third party apps and those installed flawlessly. It's only the xposed framework application and it's modules I'm having trouble with... timing out and not installing. The modules I have pre existing on my SD installed fine, it's only when trying trying to download from within the Xposed framework that doesn't install. I show an update available for one of my existing modules and it won't even update.... same thing, it just times out. Again, any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
This seems to be a network related issue, rather than a problem with the repo. I have updated several modules over a couple of days with no issues and this problem only seems to be affecting a small amount of people.
Are you using the same internet provider as others in the thread? I can only think they blocked it as GermainZ said earlier. Perhaps a visit to the support forum of your provider might help, even to check if anyone else reported this issue.

Hello everyone I was wondering if it were possible to be blocked from tethering. I've tried unrooting and relocking the phone then rerooting it. I've tried stock rooted and chroma custom ROM. Any help is appreciated

so ive seen youve used your tethering allotment. every tmobile "contract" comes with tethering included to them, besides for prepaid. its unlimited tethering for the limited plans, and 3.5gb tethering for the unlimited high speed data option. nothing like what you have done will do anything. i use the tether router app, as tmobile doesnt see me tethering when i use it. theres also an option for a build.ptop edit that will help as well.
That's what I'm saying. I've done that to where they saw me as using my data and not my tethering. For me now it doesn't work anymore. The build prop edit nor the app nor the sqlite settings.db route
Maybe they're getting clever. In the uk they use deep packet analysis to find out where the packets are coming from.

Yes they did and I've tried unrooting and rerooting try to fix the problem. I've even used the WiFi tether router app by Fabio Grasso, currently he's trying to help me get it to work. I've been reading around that this is happening to T-Mobile customers though. Haven't really seen any other carriers with this problem.

I wonder how they are checking for tethering and if they are using deep packets as another member suggested. I'm hoping someone will find a work around because after all this is why we have android phones.
Just got off the phone with T-Mobile. It is confirmed that the methods around the tether limit do not work. Once you reach your limit they block you. As for neither method works anymore.
