RNDIS On Windows Mobile 6

Hi,
I have a basic question on how to use RNDIS interface in my Kaiser.
As per my understanding, as soon as i connect the Kaiser to my PC, i should see NDIS interface in the Network connections. Am i wrong here?
Or How do i use this feature?
Cheers
PS: I dont know if the following are relevant, but FYI:
1. I have had problems with ActiveSync - Retrieving settings screen forever when i connected for the first time, So i unchecked the "Enable advanced network functionality" in Start->Settings->USB to PC screen.
2. When i try Internet Sharing application, it works perfectly fine. If i am connected via Activesync, it first disconnects and then connects me to internet (via Local Area Connection of 10 Mbps speed, Cool, eh?)
Any comment on this??

Internet Sharing with Mac OS?

Cheers,
does anyone know how to use my XDA Diamond as a modem for my MacBook? Applications -> Internet Sharing doesn't seem to work, nothing happens..
Thanks in advance!
same
same problem?
It's very easy and works fine (Only in Bluetooth)
Just follow this steps :
- Activate Bluetooth and make your Diamond Visible
- On MacOS X use "Bluetooth Wizard" to associate your Mac and your Diamond
- Follow the steps of the Bluetooth Wizard
To use your Diamond as Modem :
- Launch Internet Sharing on the Diamond
- Select Bluetooth and Network
- Select "Connect"
- On your Mac select on Bluetooth options "Connnect to Network"
PS : The options can not exactly the same because i use a french version of MacOS X
When you say internet sharing... do you mean ;
1. Using the Mac as the device connected to the internet ?
2. Using the Diamond as the device connected to the internet ?
ie, are you setting up the Diamond as a modem for the Mac or (effectively) the other way round, the Mac as 'modem' for the Diamond ?
PS. Also worth posting this in the wiki
SPFrance:
I presume that you are not using a MacBook Pro? Your instructions are correct and the network is established with mine however when data starts being transmitted I start experiencing bad latency making the connection unbearably slow.
It seems to be an issue with the MacBook Pro but not the 'MacBook'.
Let me know your setup and what speed you are getting across the connection.
Cheers
Aidan

Yes it's right i have a MacBook Pro. When i am in a "3G+ Zone" the download speed is near 1Mbits/s.
Do you know if you have the latest Penryn chipset on your MacBook?
Mac sharing
Ok here is the setup info I used for my Kaiser and powerbook G4. My phone is with AT&T so if your phone is not you must find your login details but the modem script should do the trick.

Internet connection WI-FI vs ActiveSync

Hi ,
I was playing with my Diamond and I have a strange situation ( for me at least) .
Some programs (AppToDate , WeatherWatcher , Windows Messenger ) doesn't get the updates on ActiveSync connection (internet connection seems off for those applications) , but over WI-Fi , yes .
I have check on under USB to PC "Enable advanced network functionality"
Some they work over both (Internet Explorer , Opera.. ).
Probably it's a setup thing , but I cannot figure out what.
Can somebody help me ?
Thanks,
did you enable MMS and internet sharing when you first did the ActivSync setup to the phone? If not, go to Start, then internet sharing, then for PC connection, choose USB. Hope this helps

Yes , they are both enabled , that's why I don't understand why some applications work with ActiveSync and others not. Actually all work with WIFI , but some doesn't with ActiveSync !?
Hi ,
I found the problem , but now I have another issue/question.
Under Settings> Connections > Advanced > Select Networks , I choose "My work Network " for "Programs that automatically connect to internet..."
It seems that all programs work when the USB is connected to PC.
Now the question is : Is the intenet comming through PC or is using the 3G ?
How could I check/see that ?
Thanks,
to be on the safe side, i would disable phone in comm. mang and then you will know it will be uusing the internet. If not, this may not work, turn your speakers on, if you heard sounds coming out of your speakers when your connected, then you are using 3G. it depends on your speakers if they have any interference. for me it does so i know when it is using 3G or not but I disable phone just to be safe.
I did turn off the phone connection and I got internet for my applications with ActiveSync.
It seems to be Ok now. I hope when they are both enabled (3G and ActiveSync connected) the ActiveSync is prioritized over 3G.
Thanks,

Can anyone explain how to get sim card internet access in vista? I have a big data plan, but vista doesn't find the connection. What gives?

I used the internet connection sharing icon in Windows mobile programs folder and left it connected. With that I can browse in vista via the cellular connection.
hmm, I think that my WM doesn't have that. Time to install it, I guess. Anywhere I can grab the cap, do you know?

Oh yeah! Thank you by the way
Immediately after "Liberating" the Shift via the Modaco method http://www.modaco.com/content/windows-mobile-news/266537/liberate-your-htc-shift/
I had it appear in Programs on the WM side.

You don't have to connect to Windows Mobile to access Internet from Win Vista. Make sure your Shag control Center has Data connection enabled.

Can't connect to internet in Vista using SIM
Hi, please help.
I've searched and re-searched but I can't find a simple, direct step-by-step instructions manual that shows how to connect to the internet in Vista /W7 using the SIM 3G internet connection on WM.
I've tried internet sharing but no luck. IE on W7 does not recognize the network or at least I can not see the network in the Network and Sharing Centre.
I tried the Shift Control Centre but the only thing I could find is a check box that says " do no connect via a data connection when roaming". Should this be checked or un checked?. Is this the setting that Saiweb is refering to?
Please help.
I was only able to use my sim card on windows 7, after updating my rom. I'm using IOO's rom, and it seems to work well.
After I turned on internet sharing in windows mobile, I went into network and internet center on windows 7 and enabled the one which showed (connected). It was the cellphone connexion.
Good hope to you.
Caid.
