my guess is he eats microSDHC cards for breakfast...
Just an educated guess tho
I think itje do more job in one week, than all microsoft team (who creates windows mobile) in one month
A big respect for him.
LOL if I remember seeing correctly, itje had to take the rom down because of MS copyright or just complaints...Still looking forward to it tho man
No offence, but I'd rather Itje perfected Touch-IT Landscape v4.0 first.
Once that's been tweaked to his satisfaction, and he's had time to catch up with his life, THEN it may be worth asking him if he'll do a ROM based on WM6.5. Personally, I think I'll be happier with a streamlined TouchFlo3D interface than the honeycomb and today screen WM6.5 uses.
I am NOT working on a release to any 6.5 at this rom at the moment.
My only priority now is v4...
I did cook it for personal review, but it is still not worth the effort on posting it.
I will neither respond to any PM or email from ppl wanting to test it.
itje....close this post. And the users of this forum will not confuse...

so u saying it makes not sence to try it yet?
That's exactly what he's saying.
Right now, everyone is using unofficial beta releases of WM6.5 to try it out and it isn't exactly ready for everyday use YET. That's also why MS has been asking XDA-Dev to close threads relating to WM6.5 ROMs.
If you hold fire for a few months, you may find that HTC and other manufacturers may update their phone's ROMs towards the end of the year.

The rom of 6.5 for the Blackstone is very stable and fast for everyday use
as i started to cook my Xperia Xion for the X1, my main concern was speed and stability.
now when looking back on my pm and thread i get the feeling its one of the fastest around and the most stable.
so now i have a question to all in this forum!
DO YOU NEED ANOTHER COOK FOR X1 IN WWE?
more cookers -> more options
everyone has his own preferences, more cookers con be fit more preferences by each users... it's a matter of choice. And after all, 10 heads works better then 1 for solving issue, debugging, support ecc
There can't be enough cookers for the Xperia. More cookers is better support and faster bug fixes and solutions
Can they be better dan Itje?
You must be getting pretty conceited to think that all anyone needs is your ROM's and that no one else needs to cook WWE ROM's since you have the "best".
Or maybe you are after more money - no other WWE Cookers means more donations to you for your ROM's
I appologize for being blunt and by no means am I saying that any of these above statements are true of you; however, posting this question to the forum may lead people to think these of you. Most people like having variety and options so the more people cooking ROM's or developing applications etc... the better.
Edit: taking into consideration recent events where many cooks felt that one cook was being greedy etc... caused a lot of problems on this forum
just to clear things up NOW!
THE QUESTION RAISED IS NOT THAT MY ROMS ARE THE BEST..
the thing is that from beginning i ONLY COOKED IN SWEDISH, but after alot of pm, asking me to cook in WWE, i started to think about it, and as I ANSWERD ALL MY PM, -TRY ITJES; JACKS OR ANYONE ELSES, personaly i prefer itjes and jacks as i think there are the best cookers. that was my answer to all pm, and even in my threds, see for yourself.
so back t reason why i started this thred, i think there enough Roms that are very very good, and they are WWE, but after being asked several times, i had to see what people on this forum wants. do we need moore roms or not, are there so many alredy that its hard to choose?
and one last thing - i dont think my roms are suppirior. that is up to the user, everyone experiance different, or else everyone would eat the same thing, drive the same brand of car etc...
hope this is clear to everyone.
More cooks = More developement and more options.
The question is stupid IMO, would not matter if we would have hundred cooks here getting few more would still not have a downside.
I would say "why not?" since no rom can fit everybody. More rom = more choice = more option.
By no mean I say we are not sharing (in fact, Itje is very generous to offer helps), I want to see knowledge sharing among cooks since we got less support than HD from SE/HTC and we really have a tougher road to go to get X1 works better. Many goodies from HD (TF3D2, Camera, new dialer, notification system) are still very buggie or not working at all and I wish all X1 cooks could work together (seperate thread instead on their own rom thread maybe) to resolve them.
No more WWE cookers pleas... But private cookers (cooking on demand) are welcome

I didn't know this about you - cooking in Swedish only - I believe that if you chose to cook in WWE that many people would be grateful for the contributions you make - as most people are saying, the more choices people have the better. I now understand better why you are asking this question - do you want to take the time to cook another WWE Rom when there are already some available - will people use your work - is it worth your time to cook a WWE ROM - I believe that people will likely try your ROM's from the responses in this thread (except for one).
Much respect to you for considering sharing your work and talent in multiple languages.
Hi Smaberg - how about cooking the new 6.5 rom for the xperia? there has been a later build discovered ????69 - i think its all over the xda site - Da-g seems to be the main cooker on this even itje has been playing with it, but no one seems to be cooking it for xperia yet ? i'm a bit bored of touch flo & would like to sample the next official os.
here's hoping you'll take this challenge.
why not? Keep it coming
I think it is easy for us users, not cooks to get carried away with all the progress and development that gets made here. Where functions and usability that could only be dreamt about are fulfilled regularly. And obviously we get eager for more.
However if you look at the sacrifices that cooks lite dutty, itje, smaberg etc make, posting ROMs before going to work in the morning and at 3am in the morning, taking time away from family etc. Then perhaps the essence of smabergs question might be is the benefit to sacrifice ratio worth it. Obviously more cooks means quicker better work but to what personal sacrifice.
Just my personal thoughts
WWE in THE language. All fixes, all programs are made first on WWE. So wwe software will have quickest fix, better support, brand new upgrades, better compatibility (think even about directories names... "program files/programmi/programme and so on) etc... also xda forum is a wwe forum and all people on xda should have at least a basic knowledge of english language, more then sufficient for a phone
imho cooking in other languages is a waste of time
need more cooks in general, xperia is a powerful device but we seriously lack action here i wish i could code/cook but my concentration is bad lol... i visited the blackstone forum and my god, loads of stuff released for eg manila on 6.5. which i found quite pretty.
The more the merrier!
I'd definitely welcome more WWE Chiefs for the X1 - those who are here are doing a great job, but more can be done with more chiefs working on issues together, and making roms that suit different people.
Looking forward to trying your WWE roms Smaberg ;-)
yes we always need more cooked WWE rom (and also for any other language)
more rom = more FUN!!!!!
I dont even own xperia
just like jack said..More rom = more choice = more option

The best is for you to read and follow forum guidelines, all you noobs never bother to use initiative I guess its just typical of this lazy generation!
After 35 posts you should know better, just look at pages 2-3-4-5 and see how many similar threads like this one (that are closed). The Angel may not have fallen yet but rest assured he shall put an end to this useless thread.

@ mezolezo - As stated previously opinionated threads are frowned upon in XDA as they create endless long threads with no resolution. Everyone has different tates, likes & dislikes, so what you like, I may not. This is why threads like this one is closed.
Also, if you had used the search function (and read the forum rules) you would have relaised that this question or similar question had been asked countless times bfore with same result

Dear folks:
How many us are really looking for cooking our own rom. Information are scattered here and there and the process is not straight forward. It can be as simple as adding cabs and as complicated as perhaps changing hardware, porting roms to other devices, etc...
I think the reason why there is no tutorial for cooking the rom is because well it's difficult for one to develop that kind of tutorial, let alone his/her experience and best practices in various areas.
Ok so how to solve it? I suggest that all great cooking people out there, share to build that tutorial led by the moderator.
For example, one person could be in charge of explaining how to add CAB, another person in doing sys, another in porting, another in compiling, etc..
Clearly there will be multiple sections in that thread and it would be owesome and well organized. Even better, some topics can be jointly developed by more then one person sharing the experience and the best tricks and tips between them.
Somebody has to start this initiative, at least in defining the blocks, who is going to take the first shot and entice others to cooperate?
Samer.
sounds like a good idea i'd definitely like to know!!! im always looking for ways to build up my skills.
There's plenty of tutorials floating around... But if you want one done JUST for the TP2, I can help with that...
Im down...if not make my own, maybe help someone else. I personally think there are too many to choose from, and there needs to be a streamlined process to ensure that the ones that work, continue to get the support to make them better.
As NRG said, there are already a lot of threads and tutorials. Making a ROM is not just a Rhodium thing, it is very generic to start. Then making it Rhodium compliant might take some extra work. In any case, I am also looking to start my own kitchen so any efforts in this direction are apprciated.
I would greatly appreciate this. I am currently trying to cook my own ROM. I got the Visual Kitchen, dumped the HTC WWE 6.5 ROM and downloaded the 23518 rollup from Da_G.
I used Dump Sorter to sort the rollup and put it in the SYS folder. I moved the MSXIPKernel into ROM\Shared\23518. I selected 23518 for XIP and SYS build and left ETX at 21854. The ROM won't build. I try to make it but the file in RHODIUM_Release is only 8MB.
In the build log it says
"Executing: platformrebuilder.exe.....
platformrebuilder.exe Executed successfull!!!"
Platformrebuilder does not do anything where as if I left everything at 21854 there is a LOT of stuff that platformrebuilder.exe does.
Also in ROM\Shared\21854 there is a file xip.bin that I don't have in 23518.
Help cooking sense2.5
My problem is when trying to cook Leo sense2.5(EXT package). ( I could produce sense2.1 without any problem) . BUT ran into issues like: (see photo) or if the ROM is complete. I can't get past the installation screen, just hung there and not giving me the Today Screen. So any help would be greatly appreciative.
ps.. I did check Real WM 6.5, but ROM still won't boot.

Yes, I am interested obviously in TP2, although from the moment I got my hands on it, I never tried anything but EnergyRom (do you know who does them?) but it's just that I wish I can combine the latest official WM6.5 with arabic keyboard and Sense 2.5 and perhaps some cool stuff.
Indeed there are plenty of tutorials out there but maybe they are not clear enough to me, or maybe I didnt' search very well or maybe I dont know how and where to start. so yes ur input are highly welcome just like your presence.

I'd love to see one! Not that I'm not grateful to the cooks for their ROMs, I'd like to know how it's done and maybe add a few programs of my own to a ROM.
Oh, and I think it'd be best to start right at the beginning so that everyone is at the same level eventually.
Thanks!
I started cockin roms a couple years ago and said the exact same thing how the information is scattered.. i'm in, just let me know what you need and i'll help with what i can.
I also see some tutorials in many sub-forums, but having to look at 4 different pages just to do one step in cooking a ROM is a little troublesome and confusing. So here's what I think should happen:
I think there should be a sticky thread that has clear steps (a guide) on how to cook ROMs.
Then there should also be a sticky thread that has all kitchens from chefs that want to release them. (Similar to the Radio Collection Thread.)
That would help a lot of people! I want to cook ROMs when I have the time (over summer) and if (hopefully when) this happens, it would be easier for many people like me to cook ROMs.
BesFen made a solid tutorial for using Visual kitchen in the Opal forum, and I helped with that one. I think this is an excellent idea and I'd love to help with it in whatever capacity I can.
Link: Installing & Using Ervius Visual Kitchen V1.8.1 For OPAL
edit: Just read the poll results. Whoever said no is obviously not XDA material.
i dont mind helping with this
Thanks for starting this thread.. Been using excellent ROMs from NRGZ & b16b, but want to do my own thing for my Rhodium. Hopefully, this will get me to appreciate the efforts of these 2 fine cooks and use the facilities provided by XDA better..
I've been trying to wrap my head around the info provided by Da_G in this super thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445
It is taking a while for a newbie like me..
When I had my XV6800(AKA Titan) after a while of modding I started cooking my own roms. I usually removed the garbage I would never use to shrink the Rom size. I then left for a BB in Nov. 2008. Well my senses have come around and I will be back to WinMo with a TP2 on Wed. So I would like to see a kitchen to cooking rom Tutorial assuming it is different. I know that of course CDMA vs GSM will be with because of the carrier CAB. This go around I am leaving VZW to T-Mobile.
So, what's happened with this and this thread? Has it all turned out to be a p**s take?
I would love to see a cohesive tutorial on how to cook a ROM.
I've poked around in the kitchen threads but have gotten kind of lost and overwhelmed. It seems like information is so scattered around.
I've been looking for a project to do for awhile and have thought that ROM cooking might be kinda fun. Initially, I'd just like to make something with the features I want but who knows where it might go. I think I've tried every TP2 ROM on XDA-Developers now and, while I've found some excellent ones, nothing that quite screams "this is EXACTLY what I want".
So...yeah...a good "how-to" would be excellent and I'd be forever grateful.
FWIW, I'd be happy to do some trade-work in exchange for this. I've got a pretty decent technical skill set...just not one involving ROM cooking.
Same here.. I'm stuck on getting a build to use.. Looking for a good NAM build : Tilt2 stock or something for Tilt2 will be a good start..
My first attempt is with the Eruvius Visual kitchen. I think I got all the required files. There were multiple download links in the original thread. I'm guessing that I get the older version and replace the latest kitchen .exe on top.
I'd love to try to cook my own ROM. I agree that the information seems sparse and kinda scattered. My cursory browsing very much gives the vibe that information for Touch Pro 2 ROM Development has an unspoken understanding that you've made ROMs before. Not me.
I'd love a simple step-by-step tutorial (for rhodium), cause I'd like to build a simple ROM based on the latest 5.5.3/5, without manila...
Hey guys,
I can see this "Touch HD ROM Development" forum is messy with 6.1 and 6.5 ROMs together so its time to make a new Sub-Forums for 6.1 and 6.5 ROM separate... What do you guys think?
Actually I think its a great idea, Android too.

As a user of 6.1, I would really dig the addition of dedicated subforums.
Hope that can be done very soon, will be great and easy for everyone! get Moderator / Owner of this forum to do it?

ok, first off the title to each rom thread should already tell you whether or not its wm6.1 or wm6.5, plus if we break it into sub-forums for this, were does it stop, i.e. new sub forums for sense/manila, different build versions, Android etc etc
People just have to learn to search, simple as!!
I'll mention this in the mods/admin section but I'm not sure it would go any further for reasons I've already mentioned, plus svetius/admin have enough on their plate as it already is

Disregard message
errr why, hardly any chef creates WM6.1 any more which is a shame.
even if they did they would probably have multiple offerings, ie a WM6.5 vers, WM6.5.5 and WM6.1 possibly.
Most people seem to title there threads pretty well these days, ie.[WM6.1]
I agree with Spartan
I have to agree with the Spartan.
The titles pretty much tell you what version of OS is installed. You just need to read, search, etc.
We also need to remember that most of the mods have day jobs too and volunteer their time to keep this place running. They do a pretty good job and I don't usually see any thanks sent their way for their efforts.
Just my 2 cents worth
great idea
I think it's a great idea!
1- wm 6.1 roms
2- wm 6.5 roms
3- wm 6.5.X roms
4- android development
would be great !
I agree that the title tells you but with sooo many roms still being cooked it would be nice to split it a bit.
A dedicated Android area would make that a bit easier to follow as there is a few things going on and they get very lost in the WM roms...
As to 6.1/6.5 maybe all we need is a ROMS only sub forum. leave the top level for discussing radio's and comparison roms. Also any other developments then the sub forum has ONLY the roms and nothing else.
Since there is no official HTC ROM for Touch HD on WM 6.5 or Android, I have to agree with Fallen Spartan.
Even if there is, such division would make tracking ROMs more difficult.
And if you spot ROM you like, there's always "Subscribe thread" option...
I agree too with subforums for WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 and even WM 7 and don't forget ANDROID or Linux subforum !!!
i don't think that this is a good idea, BUT...
would it be possible to creat a "filter", so that we can filter threads out or only view threads wich are in our interests.
And every Thread-creator marks a few options do define is thread.
This would be much better to search for special things like wm6.5, tf3d 2.5, or only wm6.5.x, wm6.5.x+tf3d2.5....

As it stands users who create threads can tag his/her threads with 'code words' which help for filtering when using the 'search option'
All we need is for people who create threads to use this option.....it already exists!!!!!
Hm... i thougt we couldn't search for things with only 3 letters.
Or is that possible with the "[]"s?
Cool, than it would be greate if all people would mark their threads with the right [...]s *gg*

I for one was out of the game for a while and came back to see 6.5 everywhere. I'm not particularly impressed and prefer a tweaked version of my original 6.1 ROM. I use the search function extensively for some tools and such that I used to use, but the problem is so many things from 6.1 carry to 6.5. Keywords and the like don't really change that much in the evolution of operating systems, so while I did find what I was looking for from several months back, it took an awful long time. Subforums would make things easier to find, and potentially cut back on useless posts because the information wouldn't be as chaotic. I understand it wouldn't be as easy as snapping fingers to make it happen, but with the various groups who follow the Blackstone, subforums would make information more accessible. Just my nickel's worth.
Bit of info for everyone
I've recommended that the Blackstone rom development forums be split into 2 sub forums
Android development & WM development
Think this should be enough at present to help de-clutter the forum. I still don't see a need for further sub-forums. People just need to learn to search!!!!!
Understand, this is only a recommendation and if may not be granted
EDIT - FLar has created a new thread with a poll to enable you to vote for the rom development forum to be split into Android development & WM development
