go into settings man...there is an option for that... and by the way, def. NOT THE PLACE TO POST...just telling you now because if you dont learn, you will get torn to shreds by other members.

i go in this order to;
settings
locale and text
touch input
then the options are keyboard types, keyboard language, text input, and tutorial. i click text input and it only says prediction, spell correction, word completion, sound, and vibrate . every option is unchecked, but it still automatically capitalizes the first letter of every new line or sentence .

i have my kaiser set to not capitalize but when i txt msg, it automatically captalizes? btw i have the palm txt app.
By default it starts sentences with mixed case lettering. i.e. the first letter is caps, the rest are not.
...unless it's capitalizing every letter, then try hitting the shift key twice so it stays on.
so theres no way to fix that?
well which one is it doing?? Initial caps or all caps?
initial caps,
open the keyboard, then click the arrow next to the keyboard and click Options. On the options tab, uncheck "Capitalize first letter of sentence"

This is what you would believe should happen, but this has never worked for me at all. Not in WM5 and not in WM6.
Does anyone else have the following problem ?:
When you go to the SMS tab, and press the small box to start writing new SMS, if you use the original Diamond keyboard, you can just type a few letters of your contact and it will fully appear. If you use TouchPal (I'm using version 3.5), this feature is disabled, you have to type your entire contact name every time, it doesn't recognize the first few letters and try to find a match. This is SO annoying !
Please tell me there is some workaround...
Could it be that the Diamond's original keyboard stores all the contact information in the Keyboard dictionary ?, if this is true, it means no keyboard apart from Diamond's original will allow quick find of contacts in SMS...
no problem with me..
say for eg you wanna call "home"
just press H O and enter and then it will detect home in my contact.
i suspect the problem may be.. touchpal "store" what you pressed in its own list instead of going up to the SMS directly..
Same problem. Would love to see an solution, but I think there is none...
Wizard,
Do you have the Touchpal keyboard ???
its free for personal use available online..
The contacts don't display when you start typing, but if you only type a few letters and then press send a page appears with all contacts that have the letters you've typed in their names. You can then tap the contact you wish to send to.
I don't find it a problem.

Anyone have this issue to or a fix to it?
Hey All,
I have 4 concerns about SMS that I need anyone to share his/her knowledge with them.
Is there anyway to start sms in an ABC Mode? (Not T9)
Second is there any registry setting that I can change so sms starts in the writing field not the phone number field?
Third, is there a way so I can I always enable CAPS to be always on??
Forth Is there any registry editing that can make the first letter I write in an sms to be a capital letter one? or any letter wrote after a (.) for example to be capital?
Please anyone shares his experience about these concerns.
Thanks.

If you change to T9, or ABC, it should remember next time you write a message

Depends on which keyboard, try pressing CAP button twice

Should happen as default
You need to leave a space so that it puts a capital letter after a punctuation mark.

Shaady: I will try leaving a space after the (.) to capitalize the letter..however, it dont capitalize the first letter I write in the sms dialog.
Thanks dudes,
But how can I check the registry settings of the keyboard are right or not?
Much appreciated.
not sure on reg settings. what ROM are u using?
i use the 'Full QWERTY' keyboard, and tapping on the CAPS/shift key twice changes to caps lock.

I use the original 1.93.737.1 ROM m8.
Maybe bec. u use the Full Qwerty keyboard it saves the T9/ABC mode for the next time you starts it bec. I tried it and It worked.
However, I use Compact Qwerty and it never saves status of the ABC/T9 Mode I use...It always starts with T9.

read here, just did a quick search on that...
to disable auto correction change the following registry key from 1 to 0 and soft reset (this will also disable "i" to "I", "wel" to we'll" and so on)
\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\SuggAutoCorr

still doesn't work (
I like to have word prediction on, so that I can see word suggestions and choose a word if I want to. But it seems to force autocorrect too (when I write a word that it doesn't recognize it puts in the highlightet word in the prediction window when I press space, instead of the word I have written. And I don't want it to autocorrect anything.
Is it possible to keep the word prediction, but without the forced autocorrection?
i don't have the phone right now but you can take a look in the settings>keyboard & languages
Thanks, but I can't seem to figure out what to change. I go to the HTC Sense Input > Advanced where I can turn predictions on and off, but I can't change the autocorrection there. I think..
