hi, im new to these forums but i can allready see that most people are helpful and i was wondering if you could help me with a few problems.
i have recently tried to use my tytn 2 (o2 stella) as a makeshift mp3 player since mines broke and iv came across a few problems, the first being that i cant get the wired remote to work, iv looked in the users manual and it says "install the driver" but not were from, can anyone link me to the driver?
secondly this may simply be a n00bish mistake but im fairly new to pocket p.cs, i cannot lock the phone while the windows player is up simply because i cannot get back the the "desktop" where the lock icon is
any help would be greatly appreicated
thanks

As a fellow Stellar user I just plugged in my Wired headset and went. Pressing "Play" Launches HTC Media Player (Don't know if that is in the standard ROM, but works in all the cooked ones).
Also, look for S2U2 and S2P in the "Development and Hacking Forum", a great locking program and MP3 player.

If your not using a New ROM, read-up and flash one.
Never had to play with the drivers at all.

read the wiki on roms and rom flashing.
tried and failed, got to the "red green white and blue" screen and it just stays like that :/
On January 4th, my beloved P3600 cracked in my pocket while in Dubai. So I bought an iMate Ultimate 6150 -- a terrible decision.
My iMate was stolen last week, and I need my Trinity to tether to AT&T'd 3G network. I was able to get it working by installing SOTI's Pocket Controller, and forcing a Bluetooth tether connection. It works fine.
But I'd like to still upgrade the darned thing. I'm going to order a new screen but they supposedly take 15 days from Hong Kong, and I'll be lazy in the install time.
Has anyone upgraded the ROM on a Trinity with a cracked screen?

Don't think you can do that, once the new rom installed you won't be able to bypass the align screen page.
Try MyMobiler at http://www.mymobiler.com/ . I believe once you get to that align screen, activesync is already working for the phone. That's all you need for this program.

My Mobiler is an Awesome program, but I just tried it for Align Screen, and it does not work. The screen needs to be physically touched... For a second there, I thought you had figured it out for him..
Update: I could not even get My Mobiler to run in a new Flash. Just tried it. Activesync did not connect that early on. Are you able to get the screen to accept ANY input? Maybe you could tap your way past the Align Screen, even if not tapped correctly, then use My Mobiler to run it from there... ??
There's a registry edit somewhere that toggles what occurs on first startup, such as password setup, align screen, etc. Look around for it, I forgot exactly where it is. Try disabling the align screen then.

But he's trying to get past it on a NEW Flash. It would not be capable of starting a registry editor at that point.
Yes, but it is possible to modify a rom's registry before flashing. Or else what would be the point of these regedits as they're only for the first run?

Great Tip! Hope it works for him.
So anyways, I got my Tilt to boot.
Unfortunately, I'm on an HARD SPL that's so slow on my Tilt -- 6.1 Windows, etc.
Well anyways, I'm just having a problem and that is when I rebooted my phone, it went into the new 6.1 Windows. However, it says insert SIM card and when I did that, the whole thing went back to bootloading mode and I don't know why. I need help with this.
I'm trying to take pictures of the city here so I can go back to college and the only camera I use is my phone. Thanks for the help, guys!
Ok, what SPL and ROM are you using.
3.29 is the one I used.
Wait, I got my Tilt working and it's on 3.51 now for the WM6.1.
However, I have problems having the phone connect to the Windows Mobile Device Center. So, can anyone give me a head's up with that? Thanks a bunch.
I've been using a Wizard (T-Mobile MDA) for awhile, but I recently acquired an old, used Kaiser (AT&T Tilt) and would love to use it, as it's much faster than my Wizard. However the USB port on the Kaiser is broken (It charges fine, just doesn't connect to ActiveSync) and I was wondering if there was a way for me to install a ROM on the Kaiser without connecting to USB. Or if there's a known way to fix the issue (although I doubt that since it seems like just a broken hardware problem and not a software issue).
What I had in mind was installing from a MicroSD card, because I can put the MicroSD in my Wizard (I have a MicroSD to SD adaptor) and use ActiveSync to get the ROM on there, and then install. I have no idea if this is possible at *all* but if it is, it'd be great to know.
If there's another way, that's cool too.
Thanks in advance!

Try very carefully wiggling the usb plug around, or even squeezing it in a little.
If you look around there should even be guides on how to bend the connectors so it will work again.
You probably figured out already that a faulty usb port is quite common with the kkaiser.
But if that doesn't work, you can always flash from a SD Card, wich doesn't need a work around with active sync, just writing the correct files to the sd card using a card reader works fine too, there should be a guide somewhere in the ROM sub-forums.
Well the bizarre thing is that it still *charges* via USB... that wouldn't happen if the pins were bent would it? (I dunno, I'm kinda slow. I'll take a look under better light when I post this.
Also I've looked all over for a guide or thread for it... It's probably hiding in plain sight... Anyone here know how to do it? I'm not new to ROMs (Got Button's ROM on my Wizard and Dutty's on the Kaiser) so I don't need super-detailed instructions... Just basic info and any not-obvious tips on anti-brick prevention.
Well it appears I'm stupid...
Little inspection showed the pins were bent a tad... little effort repaired this issue.
Little glue will ensure that it's permanent...
Assuming I have the balls to use super glue in there... (I don't)
Same problem, but can't figure it out. The inner connector seems to be ok, I've even tried various cables, but each of them charged only ..
well, a little searching wouldve shown that you can throw any *.nbh file on the root of the sdcard (renamed to KAISIMG.NBH) and hold the camera button during boot, if you've hardSPL'd it should work fine, will prompt you on the screen to continue.

Well, I have HardSPL on the phone, but it does not properly work for me. It works only for some stock ROMs. In other cases the phone just hangs at the "Loading..." screen.
Then just follow the steps to upgrade your hardspl by SD card method. Upgrading the spl should allow flashing of more roms.
Is it possible to flash in JumpSPL mode from a MicroSD card? It seems that I have no other option, because of the connection between my PC and the phone that seized to work.

Well, actually this is something I was thinking of ..
hello all.
no matter what the wifi doesn't want to come on in the comm manager. Even if it's clear storage booted. And gps as well doesn't work. what do I need to change/replace/repair?
any help appreciated
mines is doin the same exact thing but i can get wifi just no gps
You tried changing the rom or radio?
thats my next stop im shoppin for a good one now
I found quickGPS stopped working (continually failed to update and said it had never been run) after I updated the installed version of TomTom Navigator from 6 to 7 recently. In the end a hard reset and reinstall of TTN 7 fixed that. It was a simple process for me as my setup is standard other than the addition of TTN. If you want to resolve it by fiddling around with registry entries and cabs etc, then we need to know what changes were made immediately before the problems arose.
I think it may be a hardware issue more than software.
also kaiser tweak installs about 50% of the time when doing a hard reset. it can't find 1~temp file or so..
I think i'll just deal with and move to the X10/android. Windows doesn't care anymore and i'll never buy an apple product so android it is..
BTW, where can I buy a mainboard for the tytnII?

If you've got the money to splash out on a new phone then that's one option but why not save yourself some cash and try to get what you have working properly by spending as little money as possible first?

There you are keen to spend loads of money again. If it's just a mainboard that's required then you're best bet is to find a TyTN II which has failed through some cause other than the motherboard and use it for parts. By all means check prices with your HTC repair centre but it won't be cheap new.
Now, this is something I should have mentioned from the word go, in order to provide any sort of meaningful assistance, we need to know what ROM/Radio and SPL is on the device now and have any changes to these occurred? If you don't know how to find this out, check the xda-wiki for further info and may the force be with you. You mention wifi and quickGPS in the subject yet GPS (ie the navigation application itself) in the content, which is it?
I just have the ATT software that came with the tilt. I don't have a backup phone and have no experience with Romming so i've put it off. Maybe I should look into and give it a go...maybe that will fix my wifi/no quickGPS connection.
I think I do want to get the X10 because of the rez and screen and keep the Tilt as a backup.
thanks for the help.
Time to call AT&T if reading the wiki and hard resetting fails

You haven't mentioned what network you're connected through but if it's not AT&T (ie someone has unlocked the phone), then you will have some problems with the default ROM. If you do use it with AT&T then if you've already read all the relevant xda-wiki pages here related to the Tilt (it has its own page and you should definitly read it) and are still getting the problems you've described even after a hard reset (try the D Pad button method), why not see what AT&T have to say about things? I suspect a hard reset will fix it though if there have been no changes to the ROM/Radio or the SPL and you're with AT&T.
Internal GPS problems
I have also problems with the internal GPS of my TyTn II.
I changed the housing of my TyTn II because the old one was pretty trashed.
Now when I have new housing, the GPS doesn't work anymore.
Everything else is working just fine except that damn internal GPS.
I've tried three different navigation software which I have in my phone's storage card, TomTom 7, Garmin and McGuider. No hope, the GPS is not working.
McGuider can find the internal GPS automatically but none of those navigation programs are able to get GPS fix. I've tried Quick GPS and HTC GPS Tool. Nope, doesn't work...
OK, what should I try next? Hard reset? Or just accept the fact and get another TyTn II?
Well, maybe my TyTn II would still work with external GPS but I wouldn't like to a) purchase it and b) carry it with me.
