Better Android Keyboard - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Hey everybody.
Big fan of this site, rooted my Hero and have a great new ROM on it.
However there is one thing I am wondering about.
The basic Android Keyboard is not quite full filling my needs when it comes to sensitivity and accuracy however with some updates I am able to get the Icelandic letters I need for my work.
Þ Ð Æ Ö
This is however not possible with the Touch Sense keyboard!
I have googled the Better Android Keyboard some and enabled the market so I could actually buy it. However I am wondering to all you out there if the letters Þ Ð Æ Ö þ ð æ ö are avaliable in that keyboard and if it resembles the Touch Sense keyboards any?
Hope for good response

Noone that has the Better Keyboard and can check this for me?

why don't you just ask the owner of the app. you can send mail in the market

typing on the device

Hello,
I am really thinking of getting the HTC touch diamond2. I currently have HTC tilt (or tytn II). I use it mostly for messaging. Anyways, my question is: how easy is it to type on the device? Is it as good as an iphone (better or worse)? Can you use your finger tips or do you have to use the stylus? Is there a video I can watch someone typing on it?
Thank you
I have moved from the Touch Pro (with keyboard) like yourself I used it for texts and emails, I thought I would hate the new keyboard but its pretty good, its got heptic feedback on the keys and they are nicely spaced out. Its very responsive to use, the best HTC keyboard I have used and I dont make many mistakes and dont have to use stylus.
new keyboard is great for typing...holding it in two hands a writing with both fingers without any mistake...
That is indeed good news. Can't wait until I get mine. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow. I also type a lot on it and I am hoping that will be a pleasant experience.
Personally I have gone from an AT&T Tilt (Full HW Keyboard) to the TD2 and also thought I would hate the lack of hardware keyboard, but it has really grown on me, and with no problems at all with typing I might stick with the TD2 instead of going onto the TP2. It just works for me, though lack of 3g sucks for me here in the states... lol
I'm thinking of maybe getting the UK version, cause the device is delayed here in Norway.
Question is: Is it difficult to access special symbols (letters) like Æ Ø Å on the UK keyboard?
I've never owned an HTC device so don't know how one normally access them. They are however crucial, and used quite frequently.

This is a very interesting question, I have refrained from UK version till now, waiting for the french version only to get a soft keyboard with french layout (including é, ç, à, ...). I do not care having the OS localized in english (in fact, i would even choose english over french for the OS), but the qwerty layout is a deal breaker.
Is it possible to change the keyboard layout? Or even better, add different keyboard layout and T9 dictionaries so they appear simultaneously in the WinMo entry switcher? I would love to just switch among the different keyboard installed if needed (having a french one and a non-western thai one would be great, adding japanese would be even better )
I ordered mine from Expansys and they told me, after having talked to HTC, that it would be possible to update the device to include different keyboard layouts. I hope this is correct, because I cannot be without Swedish characters. Otherwise, could Fingerkeyboard solve the issue?
Hi!
Originally I got the 20th of April as a dispatch date form KlartSvar (the reseller used by my employer), but as you say the device is delayed. I talked to a representative from Brightpoint this morning regarding the delay, and he said that the new delivery date to resellers is the 5th of May. Hopefully this is correct, I will wait until then before deciding if I have to look around for a WWE edition somewhere.
If someone could give some information about if it's possible to write accent characters on the WWE xT9 keyboards, I would appreciate the feedback.
I guess that cabs for all languages for EzInput2 (topaz HTC keyboards) will eventually be available anyway, when localized devices start hitting resellers in different countries.
Regards,
PK

Are you using the default EzInput? And in landscape mode or portrait? I have a Diamond and had to give up on the Full QWERTY as well as the Compact QWERTY because I hated one-handed typing (and it was too small to type with both hands).
I am currently using SpB Keyboard on my Diamond, with the landscape fullscreen keyboard, and so far that has helped a lot. I can type really fast with two thumbs now.
Special characters are available with the WWE version using the HTC full qwerty keyboard. They aren't visible on the keyboard, but if you press and hold for example the a key a popup character selector appears giving access to
eight different variations of accent including the Æ and Å (I'm typing this on a MAC and don't know how to access these characters on it so can only copy and paste)
You can also used the standard WM keyboard and get at them by pressing the symbol key, but its really only usable with the stylus.
I've got a Diamond, so my question is how is the qwerty keyboard in portrait mode? The reason I ask is because I read a review that said the screen width has not changed between the Diamond and Diamond2. That doesn't seem right. Can anyone comment on both the screen width and typing in portrait mode?
Hi!
Thanks for the feedback! What about the xT9 dictionary then, is it possible to switch to a different languages in the WWE edition? If so, which languages?

Its locked to english, but there may have been an option to select a different language at setup time, to be honest I can't remember and don't want to hard reset to find out. Perhaps someone else will know? If its English only that shouldn't really be a problem, just flash a ROM in your own language when its available.
Got my D2 today. Very happy. But there is no language option as far as the keyboard goes. Have not tried fingerkeyboard yet.

æ ø å in full qwerty keyboard

Hello.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to get æ ø å in the full qwerty keyboard. Im using Gen Y R4.4 and I believe it is Nikoan89 Rhodium Keyboard and Ezinput 2.1.
What annoys me is that the T9 dictionary dosen't suggest words like på, nå and small words with æ ø å and I have to hold a or o down to select the letters manually and then it suggests them. I've tried adding it to et9mywords but nothing changes.
So it would save me alot of time writing if I had the æ ø å on the actual keyboard and not having to press down a or o.
Thanks to all people contributing at xda and making it a great site. A late merry christmas folks and a pleasent new year

the sip phonepad got t9 with full danish word guessing
try doing a search and trying it out
Thanks for your reply.
I have been using the phone keypad for a while but recently changed to full qwerty because it seemed logical when surfing and writing alt of url's.
It's way easier for passwords and email than phone keypad but the T9 just seems to use the dictionary in another way when using full qwerty. And from what i've read it is a bug in the whole keyboard package which has not yet been fixed. That's why the easier solution seemed to be getting æ ø å in the actual keyboard layout then it wouldn't be a problem.
I've been searching alot and I know that at some point it was able to have a nordic layout og the keyboard but those tricks dosen't apply to the new ezinput from Nikoan89.

Search "wnn" in the Market....
Great Navygino!
I just dloaded openwnn, but there is another one too I'd like to test...
And switch to Jpn keyboard is even faster than iPhone since on Appele you got to cicle through all the enabled keybs, here you just long press a key and voilà!
I'm so happy now!!
keyboard layout
it's a bit off topic but didn't seem worth opening a new thread.
i'm putting it here as it's kind of related i think.
I'm also using openwnn for japanese input. looks pretty good.
once i'll get used to type on a screen
however, what is bothering me, is the qwerty layout.
is there anyway to switch the z and y keys?
also being able to write ä ü ö would be a nice...
Hello,
There are at least 3 Japanese keyborads for Android"
Open Wnn
Open Wnn Plus
and Simeji
I personally like the fist one most - because it has the easiest method to input emoji.
ä ü ö can also be input via special chars table.

[Q] Scandinavian letters on the QWERTY keyboard on milestone?

Dear XDA-Developers.
A friend of mine just dropped by flashing his new Motorola Milestone. They dont sell it in Norway, he might have gotten a european version. But were not sure.
Anyway. an app for the touch keyboard with Norwegian letters was easy to find (æ,ø,å) But for his QWERTY keyboard.. Is there anyway he can get the letters on there?
Ofcourse it would be a lot to ask to change the whole keyboard to show the letters, but if reprogramming of the keyboard is possible, it should do the trick.

[Q] T9 Predictive keyboard for 2.3 Gingerbread?

I've always been used to the T9 predictive text of the symbian phones but I just can't find anything that works just as well. The closest I've got is 'Black Bolts' but it is very laggy and doesn't seem to use the inbuilt dictionary. I cannot get 'better keyboard' to work on gingerbread and I can't use the swype type keyboards. Can anyone suggest anything?
Regards
Steve
Try Swiftkey Keyboard. I found it great. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
search for "htc ime" - it's a port of the htc keyboard and works perfect.
Swiftkey FTW.
