You can get those files if you installed the demo or the full game on your PC.
Works good for me. Sometimes laggy when starting up or looking around fast, due to the lack of RAM, but otherwise once things get going, its very playable. Maybe I"ll post a vid tomorrow.

Doesn't work for me. Dumps back to "Start Game" screen when I select a new game.
Vertex Lighting and Low textures on G1 it runs at 5-7Fps. (using Donut by Lazlo ROM and no RAM Hack)
Running latest Super D on my G1 with no ram hack, and all I have to say is this is VERY VERY VERY playable with sounds disabled. I mean this runs better then quake did on some of my older pcs back in the day.
****in Excellent job.
super d 1.9.3 no ram hack. everything on low.. runs sort of decent
Hey guys,
If you have problems with returning back to homescreen after starting the game, just turn off your compcache. Worked for me.
Good luck
Don't use compcache
just a little hint from me as a quake lover try setting r_picmip 9, it disables textures

Thank you for the fast response. But i didn't find it under Astro? Am i looking for it wrong? And when i find it, I just copy it, and then paste it back over after flashing the phone?
astro is is not a root file browser. you will need to use the terminal or get a root file browser.
the save states are stored on the sdcard, they usually end in ss0
You can wipe a million times (using Alt + X) and your saved states will never go away, unless you manually delete them from your SD card.
speaking of saved states, my old saved states from my dash (windows mobile 6.1) don't work on my g1 emulators, meaning they dont load those saved states if they were in the same folder as the rom im running on my g1.
old saved states from other platforms will never work?
or should i try placing old savestates from other platforms into the /data/appdirectory and make sure they have the right name and whatnot? anyone tried that? i want my old ff3 game from my dash

Ie: if the roms are in the folder /sdcard/ROMS
the save states will also be in /sdcard/ROMS

Hi men.
Let's talk here about running Ubuntu on our blackstones.
Right now we can boot Ubuntu arm on our blackstones, based on the 'omnibuntu' files. it seems to work well but screen calibration is still difficult...
you can find useful links on the last pages of the android thread (i'm on my blackstone right now and it's difficult to copy and paste all the links) but let's leave the android thread for android...
let's see how far we can get from now
FIRST I WANT TO SAY BIG THANKS FOR THOSE WHO HAD MADE GREAT WORK TO BUILD BLACKSTONE LINUX KERNEL!
WITHOUT IT THIS TREE IS NOT TO BE POSSIBLE.
Here is lidle howto because make lidle bit sense to boot ubuntu.
1.First you have to make partitions to your memory card.(WARNING!!!!!! IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU MAY LOSE YOUR DATA)
-start ubuntu live cd 9.04 in your pc wich you find here:http://releases.ubuntu.com/9.04/ (I think that everyone can burn iso image to cd, but if not just ask)
-in your blackstone go Start-Settings-Connections-USB to PC and select Disk Drive (If you want use activesync you have to change it back to ActiveSync)
-connect your blackstone to pc and make partitions with those instructions witch found here:http://linuxomnia.sourceforge.net/Howto.pdf
2.Second you have to put ubuntu files write places.
-download attachs (fatfiles.zip) and extract to first partition
-download omniubuntu-rootfs.tar.gz here:http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxomnia/files/ and extract it and put files to second partition
3.Boot.
-in blackstone filemanager go to storage card and start haret
-select run and ubuntu will boot
-as fast as you can, move the keyboard lidle bit down because until you can`t calibrate the screen
-when it seems to stop buuting is time calibrate screen
-tap first up left to screen and move up the cross and let off, next make same up right, down right, down left and middle of the screen
This is how i get it works(First i only tap the screen.Second tap i let and hold stylus on the sceen and move it up the cross. In the same way i do to top right....ec.)
-one more tap and that is it
AND AS USUALLY ALWAYS IT IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Start debian installer
You can run debian install by downloading one iso from:http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/5.0.3/arm/iso-cd/ and extract it to second partition wich is ext2 and put attachs and initrd.gz in first partition wich is fat.Initrrd.gz you will find here:http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/armel/images/daily/versatile/netboot/
Also put vmlinuz in second ext2 partition and after all boot installation with haret.I am not yet finished installation.
You can extract iso file with 7zip.
You have nearly 400 views and only 2 replies. I feel that if you are going to keep this thread alive and vibrant with lots of posts you need to layout exactly what it is you are doing because a large number of people have no idea what this is all about and why they should get involved.
Then give very detailed and straight forward instruction on how to install such software, but make the instruction idiot proof.
Consider a description or screenshots to help people grasp your concept.
Thanks and good luck as whatever it is you are doing sounds interesting.
hi sakkeus.
very interesting, thanks!
a couple of questions:
-which initrd were you using with ubuntu?
-can we use the same ubuntu partitions to run debian?
thanks!

thanks, sakkeus, but when I try to launch ubuntu using your default, haret says 'couldnt find initrd'. when I remove the initrd line from the default, ubuntu boots well (excepting the screen calibration) so I think ext2 files are ok.that's why I asked.

I'm no longer keeping up with NAND on the vogue. So if anyone would like to keep me informed and email me or post me on any changes with NAND, ill be happy to add the news on the first post. The lock up issue with NAND has been fixed!
This is simply for any noobs or others who are having issues with Android and NAND.
IMPORTANT!!!
FOR VOGUE USERS ONLY
I am not responsible for any bricked or messed up devices. By continuing you are agreeing to my simple rule.
MY SIMPLE RULE: I owe you nothing.
I will help you through the way though if you bricked or need any sort of help.
How-to Video up NOW!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gTkJkOc7m4
First off, What is NAND?
To keep it simple...its your phones internal memory. Up untill recently we (Vogue Users) had to run Android off our SD cards using HARET. But thats another story.
What are the benefits of running from NAND? (based on what I have seen)
-Runs faster
-Longer Battery life
-faster boot up
-can be faster to put together.
-Easier to connect your vogue with android to your pc and sync
-Much more convenient.
So how do I start?
STEP1:
The Build
First you need to find a Build that is usable with NAND. Most Hero builds at this moment are not. Here are some links:
Donut 1.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591104
Hero
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603028
Cupcake 1.5
Method 1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593786
DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANYTHING JUST YET! I WILL TELL YOU WHEN A GOOD TIME WOULD BE
You may want to consider reading the rest...
STEP2:
Base Files (Most builds will supply these)
For all builds (Except the Link in Cupcake "instructions are givin in the download.) you will need a basic set of base files. The link below contains the 3 basic empty files for all builds and Systems.
http://cid-e5302e6abd554cb9.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/XDA/Androidstuff.rar
IF
You are using Hero make sure you download hero.user.conf too:
http://cid-e5302e6abd554cb9.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/XDA/hero.user.conf
-create a new folder called conf
-and place hero.user.conf in your new folder.
STEP3:
Rootfs
After you have the Base files you will need a rootfs. Depending on your Build, you may need a different type then the one I am going to supply you. Most builds will supply you with one. This one is DZO's rootfs.
http://cid-e5302e6abd554cb9.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/XDA/rootfs.img
STEP4:
Prepare
-You need to clean out your storage on your SD. Make sure you delete everything.
-Create a file called android on your desktop.
-Download the base files, unzip, open folder, and place all 3 in your android folder
-Download the rootfs and place them in your android folder. Make sure you either download DZO's or the one your Build provides.
-Download a System.img. When you download a System most likely it will have a different name such as system-hero-123.img. You need to rename it system. So it should look like system.img . Then place it in your android folder.
-If you are using Hero place your conf folder in your android folder.
-Depending on your Build (mostly Hero) you may also need a Data file. The build you select should supply one. Download it and place it in your Android Folder
STEP5
Placing
Open up your android folder of all your collected files and select all, copy, and paste into your empty SD card.
STEP6
Unlocking
If you have never flashed a ROM before than you don't have HardSPL installed. So unlock your phone with...
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
Make sure you follow the forums directions.
STEP7
Method
Method1: The way I do it.
Download ROMUpdateUtility.rar
http://cid-e5302e6abd554cb9.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/XDA/ROMUpdateUtility.rar
Extract to a newfolder
Download a kernel with your screen size
http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D
Don't know your screen size...check this out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544906
After you have have gotten the kernel:
rename it to RUU_signed and place it in the ROMUpdateUtility folder you created.
NOW you need to plug your phone into your computer. Establish active sync. And run ROMUpdateUtility.
-Follow the Instructions on the screen.
Method 2 and 3 can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=593786
This also shows my method...but a little less detail. You can also find many other helpful things there.
If you fail OR think your bricked your phone.
You will need to download one of these depending on your carrier...Make sure you download the shipped gps rom. (If you are Verizon skip down)
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=191607
Than you will put your phone in boot mode. Hold the Camera and Power button. While holding both of them...get a pen or something small and hit the little restart button on the bottom of your phone. You may have to hold it for like a second.
-you will see three color bars on your phone
-plug your phone into your computer
-run the backup
After your phone is all back to normal. Make sure you run internet explore on your phone. It will enable you to get data.
For Verizon follow the instructions here.
http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS
That is about it. I'm sure I forgot some stuff and will add on to this. Make sure you donate to the Devs for all their hard work.

great thread. I've run both from nand and sdcard. i have not messed with ext2 on the sdcard.
I agree with 3 for sure. I would also add that there is a deep gratification in wiping win mo off the sdcard
6 is debatable, depends on which conveniences you want. changing lcd.density, changing resolution are all much faster running from the sdcard - no flashing or messing with build.prop, just edit default.txt and reboot (aside - if you have a non-sdhc card you can flash on the fly from the sdcard, but changing lcd.density still requires pulling and pushing files from the system, which is not as easy as changing the default.txt). also more convenient to back-up or revert to a data.img when running from sdcard. definitely booting straight into android is convenient, as is the new mass storage on boot method, as well as having a re-writable system (which you also have using ext2).
1 and 2, I honestly have not noted a significant difference in battery life. With a fast sdcard, I don't think there is a significant difference in speed either - dzo has said this in one of the non-vogue forums as well. i have not tried any sense builds from the sdcard though, and that's where you would notice the greatest difference in speed if there is any.
4 I agree with in general.
I think running from the nand is a huge advance, and great for everyone to try. but, running from the sdcard is still a decent way to use android. choosing between the two comes down to choosing which conveniences suit your usage style the most.
One last thing - please add vilord to your donate links (his google ion on vogue thread), he has been instrumental in developing the ril and advancing android on the vogue. srwalter also deserves mention for his reverse engineering of the libgps.so to bring gps first to cupcake and now to donut as well. jamezelle, plemen, mssmison, zenulator, enatefox, f00bar (no specific order) have all worked hard porting roms and working on things like compcache, swap, modem, etc, which has all been invaluable (zenulator and mssmison deserve special credit for spearheading the porting business). however the gruntwork of porting to the vogue has been done mainly by dzo who brought us the kernel and initial ril and now nand (he's just frickin amazing, he singlehandedly got the first functioning port to the vogue and others helped from there), then vilord who took the ril and really refined it. I guess suffice to say, there have been a lot of people involved along the way, thanks to all of them.

Yes that is correct, as for deleting the files...I would assume you could. But im not sure. Maybe they are still needed on boot. Never hurts to try though.

Wait...NVM you want data to work right?
If you are using donut...try to restart your phone one time. After it boots back up you should see a 3g symbol appear on the notification bar.
If that does not work...go to your apps and open modem. Click once on disconnect and then once more. Then click connect.
Tell me if that works...
Ok so I have been tinkering around for the past few trying to get the Fender Music app on my dream. Well I did it but the app sucks cause it's not FOR my device. And being that I don't know how to make it work right, I decided to go back with the stock app.
Enough rambling, you want the goods...
Backup before doing this cause I take no responsibility.
remove the .zip from the name.
Wouldn't hurt to resign it either...
Put the file in your theme's .zip. In the app folder within the .zip of course.
I don't know how to take screen shots but I will tell you to try it and you will like it. This works on my dream flawlessly. I hope the same for you...
This wasn't really that hard to do. Mostly because I don't know how to modify/make .9's nor these .xml's for that matter. But most of the visuals are what I have modified anyway so I don't see the need...
The one thing I have a problem with is the lack of album art. As soon as I figure that out, things will be nice!
This will be on my theme as soon as I get it out. I have grown to understand how long this takes for you themeer's out there. I thank you all for everything you do. But I would like to thank Binary for helping me understand the basics of things around here!!!
Which brings to my attention, this is based on CM 4.2.13......
screenshot.apk from market...
Thanks much. I was waiting for that actually though.
But that's what I will use when I have everything finished.
Knowing this environment though, I'll never finish...

You can take screenshots even easier with ddms.bat
In revision 4 just go to Device and Screen Capture (or whatever).
Simple.
Ok. Thank you. But I'm still going to wait until I finish my theme before I take screen shots. Until then, you'll just have to dl it to find out what it looks like...
Nice to see you getting so into this. If you want help with .9.pngs, Jairomeo taught me a nice trick that makes it very easy (assuming eclipse is set up).
Eclipse is set up I just don't know how to use it other than to start up a virtual android...
Gonna try it out now. I want to know what it looks like
/edit: here is the signed .apk (Or was it already signed?)
(push to system/app)
ok noob question lol... i downloaded the file but when i try to copy it to system/app folder it says file is read only.. something i missed?

yea. what he said.
This is outdated. I haven't had the time to work on it lately and I apologize for that. My theme hasn't seen any love for a few days either.
But it works and looks better than stock.
Here's how I install it.
Put music.apk in root sdcard folder. Use a file manager like Astro or And Explorer to navigate to it. Click it and install with package installer.
Enjoy!
So i'm wondering how i can make my X1 bootup with android on the start. If that is possible.
Thanks!

Hii QNBT,
Well, there are no flashable android ROMs for x1...the chefs are tryin hard to fix all the issues in ext2 and fat32 androids for x1...once they are done with it, we can expect an Android ROM that u can use as the Primary os for ur X1..

Sounds awesome! Thanks for the reply!
I guess it will be running a lot smother that way as well.
yes, it will run smoother from nand. also updated kernel (2.6.35) speeds things up.
but here's the catch:
nand-flash is pretty useless at the moment, because kernels aren't finished. there are still lot's of driver-bugs present which prevent android from being an every-day system.
sweet, i didn´t think that the chefs where working on nand anymore but this sounds awesome =)
There is also an option to install boot Manager... where u could select winmo/ android to boot.. I think you can find it inside xda site..

Tried it but it didnt work. I put the downloaded folder in /windows and rebooted my phone, it just started like normal.
Did you tried THIS?? Works for me, it will let you choose whether to boot Android or Winmo when your phone start. Any problem about using this app can ask me..

Thank you! Yes I did try this, but I'm unsure if i picked the right version:
I downloaded this: Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.0.6.0 CABs (QVGA|WQVGA|VGA|WVGA)
All i did was extract this to my sdcard and then move it to /windows.
Is there any part that i actually missed?
Yes you downloaded the right version.
1. You no need to extract all into your SD card, you only need Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0-Storage Card.cab this version.
2. After copy Gen.Y DualBOOT WVGA v1.0.6.0-Storage Card.cab into your SD card, you have to install it to \Storage Card, not \Windows.
3. After install, you have to edit your registry (Use total Commander), the location is at [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gen.Y\DualBOOT]
4. Find a registry named "AndroidBootFolder", click it and change the content.
5. If your Haret located at your root of SD Card, just leave the content blank
6. If your Haret located in folder, like example NPKBOOT, you have to put NPKBOOT in the content and Save it.
7. After edit your registry, restart your phone and see whether you got the dual boot option or not, if yes that's mean the software install successfully.
Hopes I helped you and sorry for my grammar..

I will try that when I have some time off, ill report the result after! *thanks*
It works! Thanks!
But the part where you said "leave the content blank", that actually means that i should remove the value, so i got a error message and change it back to "00 00"

worked 100%

Nice tips. Wondering if installing Android this way affects winmo performance ?
For me does not affect the WM speed. Dual boot software help us skipping the step booting into Winmo before entering Android, it was like a 'shortcut'.
