HD2 Music Dock - HD2 Accessories

Is there anyone that has an alternative for the 100000 iPod/iPhone music docking systems?
It would be nice if some firms could make mayba a transfer piece between the iPod connection and the HD2, sou we could all use these radio/clocks...

Actually nobody ???
Too bad, I guess it is just one of those things that companies don't do if they are not sure so sell an amount like the iPhone/iPod.
How many iPhones/iPods are sold any way untill now? And how many HD2's ??

There's a docking station for HD2 with 3.5mm in/out.
So in theory you could buy a decent speaker set and just stack the docking station on top. Won't look 'apple', but it will certainly sound better than the ipod music docks.

That works as a normal music player, but it will not be able to function as wake-up device I think because the USB just recharges and the 3.5mm just outputs music...

If 3.5mm is plugged in then every sound goes via it, so it would play alarms etc via speaker.
It won't work autonomously, if that's what you mean.
To solve that you could buy a 'normal' music system and have HD2 connected via Auxiliary in.

Yes, but the thing is that if my HD2 wakes up to output an alarm, it won't start my stereo and put it in AUX mode. Unless my stereo stays on all night which is not so green ...

Would love one too...
Btw Birger,
As you are from belgium, you should check Mobile Vikings (www.mobilevikings.com)
15 € each month for
- 1000 free SMS
- 1 Gb DATA (EDGE, soon 3G)
- And the 15 € to phone everywhere you want
Also, you don't have to reload each month to get the promotion as with Mobistar
Once you reload, you got promotion for a month, then if you don't reload for 2 months, when you reload again you get directly the 1000 free SMS & 1 Gb DATA ^^
See you

just for music i have a antec lansing soundblade, it connects via bluetooth and sounds pretty good. it can also run on batteries so is somewhat portable.
So while not really a DOCK it is certainly a pretty cool piece of kit.
Got mine brand new from ebay £25 delivered

It is a sollution to play music, but not as a clock, because I don't think my HD2 will play an alarm, and send it automatic via BT to the Antec that wakes from its sleep does it?

Why is T-MO's BlueTooth so difficult to use?

The one thing I truly hate about my T-Mo MDA after 6 months is the difficulty using BlueTooth. I had an HP6315 (also T-Mo) which, despite all its other problems (like crashing everyday) had a far more sensible BlueTooth tool.
I don't have an issue with changing the stack--once I'm connected to a device I'm pretty much good, but the connection process is a serious pain in the patoot.
Before the impatient pros tell me "why don't you do a search before you post?" let me say that I have, and nobody I've found addresses this.
It's a really simple thing: every other device I own or have owned that uses B/T peripherals has a "Connect" choice. It doesn't matter if it was my 6315 Ipaq, my laptop computers, a Motorola cell phone or Samsung D-820/T-809 cell phones. All have the ability to force the connection. But the MDA doesn't, as far as I can tell. It either connects automatically, or you (frequently) have to delete the device and initiate a new search for it.
Am I missing something? Is this just the way the MDA is? Is there a piece of software or a registry hack that allows you to force it to connect?
I'm also curious as to why a regular telephone headset won't play back from Windows Media or BetaPlayer. It would very nicely on the 6315 Ipaq and still functioned as a phone. Any ideas? And, the reason I like to do that is I have a long commute and like to listen to Pimsleur language CDs (ripped to MP3) in the car. They work through the wired headset, but I can't stand wired headsets. I can imagine books on CD would also be enjoyable that way.
Thanks!

You can do this. Get BTAudio.
Its not tmobile it the windows bluetooth stack. i have no problems but most people like the widcomm stack because its simple and easy. you should also try a bluetooth stereo headset its good thing to buy if you dont like wired headsets but advise to buy when having extra cash or look for a low price. prices are going down for some reason where i live
I DO have B/T stereo headphones, a pair of Jensens and a pair of IO gear. The latter list for around $150 or more, but a friend bought 2 pair (accidentally) off the 'net for about $35/per. That's what I gave him. The Jensens cost a little more but not much. Both make the HPs look like junk and are far more comfortable.
The problem is in my state it is VERY illegal to wear headphones while you drive. You can wear them on one ear, but not both.
Next, if you use them (not while driving) you are forced to use them as either stereo OR as a mono telephone headset--check the B/T settings.
It never fails to amaze me how if M/S has 5 or 10 choices, they will ALWAYS choose the most difficult to use (and idiosyncratic), the least useful, and the least reliable.

Niki and In Car Bluetooth

Hi Folks
I'm in the market for a new head unit. I'm wondering what your experiences are of the different BT kits and their handling of Telephony and Audio Streaming.
I'm down to 2 different HUs, does anyone have any experience of these with the Niki?
http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/cd_receivers/KDC-W7541U/details/
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/25/121/DEH-P700BT/media.html
How well does the Niki work with in car BT (especially with the above if poss)?
I would love to be able to use 2 simultaneous BT devices, is it possible?
What is your experience/advice?
tia

I use the Sony MEX-BT2500 - it's brilliant, no problems at all. Pick one up on ebay for around £80, you'll be amazed. They did have them in Halfords a while ago too. You wont have any issues with either unit you've mentioned.
I also have a Holux GPS GR-239 for SatNav, and this pairs up fine at the same time, as does other devices I've tried, so no worries for you, I'm sure.
Well, I went with the Kenwood, http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk...7541U/details/
Great unit, and the HF function is fine. It will not stream audio though
Still, 4GB USB stick is well good enough for what I need
Motorola t 505 - Google it. I bought this a couple of months ago and it is the best FM Transmitter I have ever used. The signal is so strong that I hardley ever hear any static, even if I am streaming to a live radio station. I use mine every day as I am always on the road for my job - average 5 hours a day connected through bluetooth and streaming music from my phone to my stereo using the FM transmitter and only have to charge the thing once a week. This is the best one I have found so far and I have tried dozens of different ones.
Also - No interferance from the phone when you get a call unlike many of the other FM Transmitters I have tried - (NO Buzzing at all like you can sometimes get when phone call comes through when your phone is near a speaker or using a cheap fm transmitter) I use mine with my HTC Touch and Love it.
This would be strictly for your car though so if you are looking for headset to use out of the car as well, I guess this won't help.
I jsut realized you were talking head unit but you still might be interested in this product as it may save you money rather then buying a new stereo - Unless your current stereo really sucks, then happy shopping and I hope you find what you are looking for.
Before I bought mine, I was able to test it and make sure it worked well with my phone - Which it did - If you are able to convince them to let you pair it with your device and test how well it works, I would suggest you do just to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase.

Thanks chap, but my old stereo really sucked and needed an update.
I don't need to stream from the phone now I can use USB sticks and the HF phone works great.

Xenta media player for connecting HD2 to your TV for £20

Bought one of these for watching/listening to digital media on my TV and thought i'd see what happened when i plugged my HD2 into it.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/175291
Well it works
When you attach your HD2 if you choose disk drive mode on the device you can browse the filesystem of the microsd by choosing file from the menu (pic 2)
One nice touch is if you want to listen to music as you scroll the track automatically starts. If you have loads of videos they play in the thumbnail so when sifting through video001, video002, video003 etc you don't have to remember what each video is of which makes it great for watching your videos recorded on the device.
It also previews your pictures too.
Currently watching a 700mb film from the hd2 through it and it works without stutter so file size seems no problem either.
You can still receive calls texts etc without interuption to the media playback too.
Oh and it's getting a charge from it at the same time
Only downside is that the range on the remote seems a bit pants so i've put the box on the mantlepiece above the fireplace as opposed to in the corner of the room with sky box. It seems 10 foot is ok but 12 foot isn't
Also the menus aren't too pretty but they are only menus after all.
Worth noting i bought mine from ebuyers ebay account as it had free postage and the ebuyer website didn't.
i use my phone the same way on the WD TV Live, which supports hd videos

Well, my cars have the typical RCA input jacks. I just bought a 3.5mm to RCA cable, and all sounds great! Found mine at radio shack

what kind of connection are you trying to make? BT, wired....

I'm trying to get a fm transmitter.
I used a Venturi Mini with my HD2. It also works perfectly with the HD7. Bluetooth from the phone to the Venturi, FM from the Venturi to Car-radio.
The phone sits in a Brodit holder, adapted to have a USB connector, which takes power from the Venturi. The holder also works well for both the HD2 and the HD7.

Google --> Walmart, and then search "Scosche FM Transmitter" grab the $10 one, sounds amazing for $10!!! Used double sided tape and taped it to my phone mount in my car and it works beautifully.
In my car I have a 3.5mm input jack. I have a 3.5 mm to 3.5mm cable that I have used for the last 2 years on my Windows Mobile HTC Touch Cruise device (WM 6.1). Now when I plug the cable in my HTC HD7 the music plays as expected but at the same time the volume on my HTC HD7 goes down from 30 to 0 in just a couple of seconds. Do I need to buy a new cable or some kind of converter or is there something wrong with my device?

That sounds like a hardware issue, I could be wrong tho. Do you have a case on the phone? How are you holding the phone when you plug it in?
I have a Pioneer touchscreen nav in my car (U310BT) and it has a USB input, but it doesn't recognize my HD7 Unless someone finds a solution, I'm stuck using the auxiliary jack. The biggest downside is that a single plug can no longer double as audio/charger.

I have the same issue but it only seems to do it randomly. I normally have the stereo off before plugging it in but I noticed today it happened twice on the same car ride. I have the skin on the phone that T-Mobile sells so i guess it could be the culprit. Have you found out anything further?

The phone cannot be used as a usb storage device (at least not without hacking and then only on the computer it is synced to). So, there is no way currently to usb it to the car stereo.

I just looked this up. It sold out on line but you can find it in stores. (I hate waiting for things in the mail,UPS, etc) Thats not a bad product for the price. I have the Belkin FM transmitter ($50) that plugs in through the A/C and can charge your Ipod/mp3 player, etc using the USB cable that came with your phone, Ipod, etc. I had it for over 3 years. I needed something when I got my car since the radio didnt have a CD player. After I got the FM transmitter my wife bought me a new head unit (radio) during BF two years ago and I installed the radio in my driveway and it came with Ipod/mp3, phone hook up through USB. Now I use the FM transmitter as a phone charger.

I understand it can't be used as a storage device. However, when my car recognizes any other USB-based media players (ipod, iphone, zune, sansa), it should recognize my HD7 as well :[
Mine is a ford myconnection. Works perfect with bluetooth.

Wow, that thing looks like trouble. Could you imagine having that thing in your car with a mic attached and set to the most popular morning drive station. You could really freak out people as you drive to work on congested highways.

Speaker dock

Can anyone suggest a dock (like you get for iphones) that works well with this phone. It would need a 3.5mm jack or bt and charging capabilities and good speakers, for loud indoor use. I use a bt sterio in my car.

Well this isn't a perfect solution and since I am waiting for mine to arrive in the post today, it isn't tested but should work in theory.
Sonos S5 Media Player
LG Multimedia Stand
Samba App for Android
Sonos Controller App
As long as both the Media player and the phone are connected to the same network, the player should be able to see the Samba share on the phone and play the music stored on it. You can control what gets played using the Sonos app on your phone.
If the media player is not on the same network as the phone, then you can connect the phone direct using a 3.5mm male/male cable.
my friend has one of these on loan, he controlls it via his iphone and WM HD2. problem is its expensive

the lg multimedia stand is it just a charge stand? without any special function?
Correct, the stand is just a stand. As the phone really needs to be on charge, I just thought it looked better that way.
The setup works really well, the player connects to the phone without any trouble and the sound quality is excellent. It was expensive, but if you like your music it is worth it.
BT sounds great in my car.... think what i need is a BT capable, mini/hifisystem thing... nit much cheap there also. Is there a BT connector you can add to an aux in. would rather do this than via FM transmitter
I use a BT device on my hi-fi system and I just have to connect the phone to it and start playing the music (works with all the phone I have tested so far: iPhone 3GS, HTC Magic, Google Nexus One and SE X10).
The device uses RCA cables to transmit the sound to the hi-fi system and it works great !
What's it called

Here is the device I use but you can find other models. Some of them are able to remote control your phone (next/previous music, play/pause).
Belkin - F8Z492cw (reference name, I'm still not allowed to post external link in my comments)
Check on Google many devices are available on market
gone for this

I use an FM tranmitter. I made this usb only dock from an ipod/iphone dock from poundland.
https://picasaweb.google.com/stevvie/LGOptimus2XStand?authkey=Gv1sRgCPDbvJa0vc64IQ#
And then attatch my fm transmitter (that I got from hong kong) which works for about 0.5 of a mile (but eats batteries, luckily it take 1 AA and last for about 4-5 hours on 1 rechargable) and then tune what ever radio I want to the transmitter. I can even listen to it in the shower with a cheap battery radio thats water proof.
