Weird WiFi problems!? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
I hope you can help me as my Xperia suddenly started to show a very strange behaviour:
If I try to turn on WiFi in Comm Manager, the "waiting cursor" appears for about a second - then it says "WiFi on", but the "antenna icon" does not show up!
It's impossible to establish a connection over WiFi...
I've tried several things:
- I've re-flashed the newest radio ==> no change
- I've changed my ROM ==> no change
Now comes the weird part:
My new ROM (Xkan's Topaz V3.5) includes HTC Sense which also cares about WiFi settings etc. - the "connection tab" shows all the hotspots around me while Windows Mobile itself doesn't recognize anything...!?
By chance, I also found out that if I change something manually, e. g. my phone's IP address or the DNS server, WiFi is suddenly detected by WinMo and everything works normally...!?
Is there anybody out there who can confirm such a behaviour or has a solution for it?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
David

Wireless LAN Setup

The WiFi functionality of my AT&T Tilt was working then suddenly it couldn't connect to my home network. It displays the network as available but when it tries to connect, the icon turns to unavailable.
The home network is protected with WEP, but even if I remove the security, the phone will not connect.
I restored the phone to a very early Sprite backup when everything was working correctly and it still would not connect.
Is there something I could to (besides 'clear storage' that would reset WiFi?
perhaps it would help, if you go to:
start -> setting -> connections -> wlan -> energy-mode and set to optimized for performance
at me this gives a bit more speed at loading webpages, perhaps you will get a better connection
(perhaps this differs to you, cause i have a german rom and the workthrough above is translated in my mind )
bye andré
Thanks - I have done that and still cannot get a connection. It seems as if the HTC does not like something with my router (but that was not always the case).
Bill
deleting profile under wifi and resetup also won't work?
i run on wpa2 / psk security with no problems, perhaps an problem with wep?! but if you tried without security, this shouldn't be the problem
do you have the chance, to try your kaiser t another wlan at a friend or at work? to see if the problem is not your home-network
Thanks - will try another network just in case however I have 2 laptops currently running on the network with no problem.

WI-FI Problems

Hi everyone,
I heard about this forum and hope you can help me to overcome my wi-fi issues.
I have TYTN II with WM6.0.
I have unsecure wireless connection at home and secure access point connection with certificate at work. For both of these networks, i can see the available network when i click wi-fi and when i click the available network and click connect, connecting appears on the screen and then it become available or unavailable instead of connected. However, i could connect a few times but the connection had gone in a fes minutes.
I tried to connect same AP's with my labtop, and i did.
Do you have any idea about my device's issues ?
Help me pls.
Thanks in advance.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
The first thing to try is this:
Start up your Communication Manager application
Tap on Settings > Wireless LAN
On the settings page, tap on the 'Power Mode' tab and make sure that the slider is all the way to the left ('Best Performance').
Close the settings page
Close Communication Manager
Try connecting again.
This worked for me!
Good luck.

Problems with GPRS connection

Hello All,
I have problems on my Kaiser with the internet connection via GPRS (here is no 3G network available).
When I want to update the weather forecast in the Home plugin, sometimes is working, sometimes not. Errormessage is then "server connection lost".
Same story in the Internet Exporer, I can open a web page, then when I click on a link or other page, "connection lost".
According to the status window connection is established and running.
Has anybody an idea here?
I tried already the disable hidden proxy and also the cache of the PIE on the handset. I tried also the advised settings in the tool "kaiser tweaks".
For the connection settings, I have only to put the access point name, my network is assigning all other data automatically.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx,
g-fall
I would say re-check your providers gprs settings.
thank you for the reply.
sorry, i forgot to mention that befor the Kaiser I had the Artemis and it was always working without problems.
btw, the problems with regular email checks was solved by disabling the auto time update and disabling the taskmanager from the today screen. So I hoped that there is something what I missed until now...
Thank you

Wifi troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I have a question concerning the Wifi.
Although I can connect to my Wifi router, I can't go on internet using Opera.
Is there a special option to activate ? Because I tried almost everything on the phone but nothing works.
Thanks for your help.
I changed my rom (unfortunatly, I don't know which one I have, a friend did it for me) but I don't think it matters since I can connect to my router.

Wifi, try this: Settings->Connections->wlan->powermode: turn it to best performance
How to know which rom you have: At the bootscreen the bottom text OR Settings->System->Device Information: ExtRom version: **
If you are sure WiFi is working (for example you could try to connect your PC with Total Commander) check:
Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Select Networks -> Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
I have: "My work network" here and Opera utilizes this connection with no problems.
Good luck.

Wifi problems

I am unable to get Wifi to connect to any network! The device shows me the available network and everything, but it says it's connecting to them and then it just says they're available. It was working fine for 2 weeks on this rom Ultimate-X2.V9 and just stopped yesterday. Its a Kaiser
Any solutions? Suggestions?
if they are not your wifi router networks they could have added mac filtering to keep you out
otherwise maybe their firmware require an update or they just need a restart all the connects handheld devices make often confuse the dhcp in the router
I've got the same problem, but they are my networks, and they've all been restarted.
One network especially doesn't have mac filtering applied, but has SSID hidden, which is fine, but it still won't connect.
I have been dicking about with changing Roms recently, but am back on the stock HTC rom, so wondering if something could've messed up the Wifi abilities.
Thanks,
Hi,
I have the same problem on my kaiser, with every rom I've tried.
On a previous rom, I found a reg key which prevented wifi to connect, and it resolved the problem, but now I can't remember what the key is...
Wifi APs are detected, identification is sent, PPC asks for the wep/wpa key, identification seems to succeed, sometimes I even get the right IP, but nothing happens, and the PPC stops the connection to the AP after a few seconds...
Very annoying
I should add, all routers in use are fully up-to-date with their firmwares, and recently I've been receiving a message saying "Shell32.exe" issue.
I get the option to send the report to M$, however the ironic problem with that is I need the network to use it!
I've just flashed my phone back to the original Orange ROM, so I'll see how that goes now, but when I did manage to connect to my home network, it would connect, allow me to even refresh my IP, but not allow me to access any websites, use any installed applications etc.
same problem
but it happend after i installed moorhunn.
Little better after i uninstalled it but my kaiser still drop the connection in a few seconds and want to turn on the 3g connection instead...
I getting an error message that says"no active programs is started".
