Is it possible to tether using Bluetooth with the Vogue using Myn's install?
I'm guessing this has been asked before, but I spent a lot of time searching and couldn't find a concise answer. I'll be adding the info I find out to the FAQ thread.
Also, I use Linux, so PDAnet and EasyTether aren't options (I'm not sure if they support BT, anyway.)
Thank you for any help!!

Not as of yet, there's a problem with the kernel that isn't allowing a netfilter for tethering,

I'd also tried that app and knew about the netfilter thing.
How can we go about fixing that? Is it up to dzo?
It's up to the people who compile the kernels, so yes DZO i believe.
Also PDANET supports bluetooth, but only on eclair and that should work but i haven't been able to try it because the data through my usb port is shot and you have to do first config of pdanet with usb attached

Its not like reverse vnc, its like, uh, vnc.
This website has all the stuff you need to get a vnc server running on your phone:
http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc/
Note: If you just run the fbvncserver, you can get a vnc server in VIEW ONLY mode. To get full interactive VNC, you need to run a kernel with their patch applied -- do not try to boot off their patched kernel, it is for emulator only. If you want to use their kernel patch, you must checkout the source code -- it comes with the patch file. Apply it to the applicable kernel source and boot off that.
I was looking for the same thing for my EVO. I found an app in the Market called "droid VNC Server" by Jose Pereira that allows you to remotely control your Android phone from a PC wirelessly. I tried it over WiFi and it worked flawlessly for me!
Here's a link to it on Market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.onaips.vnc&feature=search_result
(Edit: Sorry, didn't realize this thread was from 2009 until after I hit submit. It was the top Google result for my search for a solution.)
thanks for the info..
it really helps...
some moderator like to lock old thread...if we reply to it..
but it actually helps sometimes..

Anyway to do this or something like this without any internet what so ever? I have no internet and would like to connect phone via USB. Then see screen on computer be able to use Mouse for touch and keyboard to type. Is it possible? Everything I see fails to mention you need to connect to internet to use it either by having DSL cable or tethering for you WiFi data. No internet options for me.
Does the cap have the capabilities to FTP using Bluetooth?
I have a dongle on my pc and I cant seem to connect to it FTp style of looking at all the files and folders of the phone on my PC.
or the other way around...
can this be done without any third party apps or rooting???
Edit:
Whats the difference between DUN and tethering?
Really??? noone?
Am I just asking the wrong questions all the time or in the wrong section???
I barely get any answers...

ES File Explorer has bluetooth file browsing like you're talking about and doesn't require root, but it is a third party app. Unfortunately my bluetooth pc dongle is for a kb/mouse combo and does not support OBEX FTP, but it works great browsing my wife's phone.
DUN & tethering are the same thing in the context of Android.
Thank you so much
Just what I needed to know.
I was wondering if it can be done without a third party app. ^^
TY!
What's with the aversion to third party apps? I saw another post of yours that said "no third party apps". I'm not trying to be rude, just curious.

What's the difference between DUN and tethering
I can browse the folders on my phone via bluetooth without any 3rd party tools. Running Windows 7. I don't know what the bluetooth profile is called but both PC and phone need to support it. So we know the Captivate supports it and Windows 7 supports it.

yeah i do this too all the time with STOCK file explorer on both phone and windows.
sync the devices, not conect, just sync once!
from phone, long press file, share, bluetooth, PC
from pc, right click file, send to... , bluetooth.
in vista and win7 there should be a link in "my computer" now too, to browse phone. just have bt switched "ON" on phone
also, on another bt note... my phone didnt have headset options for the computer UNTIL i connected to the phone as headset from the PC first. now the connect to as headset option is on the phone.

We can always use something lik sharegps and use our bluetooth capability to tether our gps.
But the more options the better if it works on our tablet.
force close here as well on latest tnt-lite. i was hoping this would work so i wouldn't need to connect wifi tether and bluetooth
Yea Bluetooth is working great but would be super awesome to only use 1 app to tether GPS. TetherGPS is not able to connect properly my gtab says "not receiving location"
Hope this can get resolved soon

Ive been using a app called "bluegps" found it from a thread here in the forums, works great with my avlabs gps. I use autopilot for my maps, but once you have tyhe gps tethered, it does not really matter what type of map u use. Just make sure you have "mock locations" enabled in bluegps and all works well.

I'm trying to buy from the Market, but don't see it there. Can't tweak Market enough to be able to purchase...
Personally i see it, ive also heard of others on these forums who cant see things in the market can try to side load it, either buy it from a store or buy it from the market using an android phone and then side load it that way. Seems different market fixs and different roms seem to see different things on the market, try market enabler, saw a post for it here on the forums recently. I tried it and found it worked well. Also try the different market fixs.
I can't seem to get WiFi Tether to work on ICS build 6.16.206 and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.
Thanks
WiFi Tether does not seem to work properly but I am posting this from my Xoom while tethered to D4 using the Mobile Hotspot with the entitlement check removed, so that method does work.
I don't like to use the Mobile Hotspot and prefer the Wifi Tether app, but it looks like it needs tweaking for these builds.
Hmmm. I tried the Mobile Hotspot SQLite hack and that didn't work either. It gets stuck at "Identifying" when I try to connect with my PC. Weird.
Free wifi works using Sqlite
I am using my mobile hotspot to send post this reply. After I watched a video on youtube on how to get wifi on the Bionic using SqLite Editor. I gave it a try and it did work. I don't know what to expect next from Verizon so if you wanna try it TIGHTEN UP YOUR BALLS AND SEAL YOUR BUTT HOLE in case Verizon decides to f* you up or break your balls because I am not responsible for the outcome
HOw to bypass Verizon Mobile Hotspot restriction to use wifi:
1-Purchase and install SqLite Editor over the market
2-Open SqLite, scroll down the list and choose "Settings Storage"(the one with the hammer and wrench)
3-On the next screen select "settings.db"
4-Then choose "settings"
5-Once on the MS-Excel-sheet-looking page, hit the menu button
6-On the pop-up menu select "set filter"
7-In the "Filter value" field type the word "check"
8-Click and hold on the "entitlement_check"
9-"Edit" the value from "1" to "0"
10-Exit the app and reboot
11-Check Mobile Hotspot under your System Settings and you are back onto free wireless tethering
N.B: For those of you, the cheap bastards, please don't try to snatch a refund by trying to uninstall the app within 15 minutes of purchase. Have a bit of decency, will you?!!!
I don't know why this won't work for me. I froze a bunch of stuff with Titanium Backup so I thought one of those may have been the culprit but after unfreezing everything I still can't successfully connect. Grrr.
Maybe that is why. I did it on bone stock. Try to bring everything back to normal then reboot. Once done try the method again.
Wifi Tethering Works Great
I am using the app 'Foxfi' and my Wifi Tethering works absolutely flawlessly.

Tried foxfi already and it didn't work. Also tried open garden and versions 3.1-12/13/14, 3.2-1 of the wifi tether app. I'm afraid of any side affects that might come from using the Verizon hot spot app. /:

I was able to change entitlement_check and now mobile hotspot can be activated, and other devices can connect to the Droid 4, but internet is not shared to this devices. On the previous phones I have to change APN type to "default, dun, supl" in order to enable internet sharing, but I was not able to do this for Droid 4. Any ideas how to fix that?

Ive been cracking my skull trying to figure out where to download the lates null rom for the gear and i can see it says the thread is closed but how can i get it! i want it, i need the internet on the gear! where ese can i get it from?
im using null rom and have internet working via bluetooth.
I am using the gear with my HTC ONE/
I tried Flipboard-with internet via bluetooth/
the main cover page works-but once your feeds updates-all the content is unreadable
to get internet working you enable bluetooth tethering on your phone (of course)
open nova launcher-the main phone like SETTINGS- (not gear settings)
click on BLUETOOTH
Your phone should be listed-click tiny settings icon
next to that
scroll down to PROFILES
enable checkbox "internet access" use for internet access
note: make sure your are paired first-drove e crazy not even seeing these settings before
next page -checkbox
