Its very annoying everywhere I turn I hear ipod or iphone as if that is the only mp3 player or cell phone in existance. I turn the tv on to watch news then I hear the pope got a ipod, a next time I heard president obama have a ipod, next time I heard doctors are using ipod for something (cant remember what), next time I heard apple white iphone is delayed and many customers are waiting for it(its just a color), a next time I heard apple app store have a grill thermometer app.
These are some of things that I heard on the news and it makes me wonder if the station is getting paid everytime they mention a apple product. Yesterday im watching the news and a tech commentator came on and was talking about verizon iphone. He said the verizon version internet is a little slower than at&t but atleast you will be able to make calls with verizon version. If apple version was so bad with voice call how come it was so hush hush. My friend iphone always drop calls and he always have excuse like he was on a bridge, he just pass a over pass, he just pass a dead spot but he would not say its the phone. I asked my friend to send me a picture to my cell that he took out with his iphone, he said he would have to wait until he reach home to do it from his mac book because the iphone couldnt send pic. This was couple years ago when the iphone first came out. This is what you call a loyal fanboy.
Apple is doing a very good job with advertisement. People around me never heard of a N1 but then again i didnt buy it because it was the in-thing. Im not afraid to tell a apple fanboy my left soft key on my N1 can be unresponsive and its very annoying. 3 times for the 10 months I own my N1, when I try to take a pic the phone would completely die. I was thinking the flash was consuming too much battery or maybe its my cheap ebay spare battery. It didnt happen that often for me to try to narrow it down.
did I mention im not a fan for any thing apple. awwwww i feel better.
Yah I'm not crazy about the fan boys either. They think there phone is the like the best phone in the world.
I used to be a fanboy and i still have a lot of respect for the iPhone if it wasnt for them google probably wouldnt be making the phones we have now. our operating system might not exist and we wouldnt have this awesome forum to bash steve jobs. but you have to admit its a pretty impressive device a lot smoother and refined than most of the android phones out there. its biggest limitation is that is has a big ugly apple on it. Mac is obsurd with their locking everything up. if they would just open up then maybe theyd be worth half what the android os is
I don't "hate" apple for capitalizing on a fragmented (heh) mobile market. They see consumer electronics as a sector with untapped potential and made an ecosystem off of it. If you think about it, every manufacturer would sell their soul for the success that Apple has been having. Further more, you should appreciate for what Apple is doing, otherwise most of these manufacturers would still be lagging 10yrs behind in development.
While i do agree that all mp3 players are being grouped up as "ipod" and all phones as "iphones" etc, that's more of a fault with the dumb general public for creating the generalization than Apple's own-doing.
People think that we have capable phones thanks to Apple, but that isnt true,
the IPhone has just a new capacitive multitouch screen.
There were nice smartphones before like Palm Treo, and others.
I had a used Nokia 9210i communicator, way older than the Iphone,
it seems to be the first phone sporting installable programs.
For Android we dont have to thank Apple that they put a crippled OSX on their
phones but we have to thank the Linux devs that their OS is free and has a lot of software available.Hacker had patches for a lot of PDAs running this OS for years.
Now we have WP7 that tells us to throw all previous phones into trash, because
it doesnt run our software without a lot of source changes and runs only on overpriced high-end hardware.
This is a real convo I had yesterday ... I explained after wards (Randomly calling him Jim )
Me *Get's out phone and goes on Angry Birds*
Jim "Hey, that's not an iPhone how did you get that!?"
Me "I downloaded it"
Jim "But i though only iPhones could get apps"
Me *facepalm*
It's not the iphone I hate, it's the goddamn fan club I have a problem with.
Its a great piece of hardware. The OS is so simple a child can use it. Much like the mental capacity of its fanbois.

hahahahahahaha what a dumbass. sorry if i'm insulting your friend, but that's just stupid.
Yup apple is sh*t
I plugged the ipod speakers in my Sony Walkman hit the bass button and the sound was like the speakers are farting!
Stopped the bass feature and the sound was still like sh*t.
I plugged my speakers in an ipod and the sound wasn't that good, IDK why they say that the ipod has a clear voice when it sounds like crappy FM radio.
I had a white 3gs and I loved it. But it got damaged at&t screwed me over and apple said oh well. I played with my friends n1 and had to have android in the end I went with the evo only because sprint cut me a better deal than T-Mobile. I went to buy the G2 and it would have cost almost $1000 just for the phone and new 2 yr.

Custy: "You have them new iPhones in stock"
Me: "Yes, we have both the 16GB & 32GB in stock both in 'A' Grade condition"
Custy: "Does that come with that talking cat thingy?"
Me: "Pardon?"
Custy: "Don't play stupid, you know that program/app thingy that the cat talks to you"
Me: "Do you mean 'Talking Tom Cat'?"
Custy: "Thats the one, does it come with it?"
Me: "Its not pre-installed, its a free app you download of apples market place"
Custy: "How much for the app thingy?"
Me: "Ive just said its free"
Custy: "I won't take one of them iPhones unless it has that on it"
Me: "I can put it on there if you like"
Custy: "Yes"
To sum it up, she paid £550 for a 32GB iPhone4 for one free app that she could have gotten on an iPod Touch.

Really? I see more people with Androids/Blackberrys.
Why I like Apple:
1)They do nice designs for their products.
2)Operating system is better for viruses not because there are none, but if they do get in they do less damage than they would on Windows.
3) They have better games for iTouch/iPhone than for Android, I want some more gameloft games, and "lite" games.
Why I don't like Apple:
1) Over priced
2) Lack of customization, and I'm having a harder time jail breaking the free iTouch I received.
3) Lack of game support for their computers
4)Fanboys really ruin the community for Apple because if you mention one con about Apple they eat you like a starving man and a cheesecake.

Same here!! Angry birds and its not an iPhail/iPhuck?
Why is XDA-Developers the anti-Apple site? I just don't get all the Apple hate around this place. They are what they are. I use some Apple products. I'm typing this on a MacBook Pro right now that I *need* for my business because I rely on software that ONLY runs on OS X. I also have a couple of Android phones and a BlackBerry... and while there are things about the iPhone that draw me in, how closed it is puts me off. But it's also a selling point, as it's what allows Apple to create the experience they do.
We have a free market, and we should be GLAD for Apple. And Android. And Windows Phone 7. And even Symbian. The free market is what causes ALL platforms to progress and develop at the rate they do in order to keep up with each other.

1. I hear this argument, and I don't see the truth in it at all. iPhone is priced competitively with high-end Android phones in the same class.
2. This is VERY true, unfortunately.
3. Um, seriously? No. I'd argue consoles are better for games anyways, but Macs run games pretty well. Granted, there aren't a lot of games for Mac OS X but that isn't Apple's fault. And you can run any OS you feel like on your Mac, so dual-boot with Windows if you need Windows games. Unfortunately, I can't run Mac OS X on any generic hardware I want without some hacking, and I rely on programs that are ONLY available for OS X. That seems more a reason to be anti-Apple than the other way around
4. Isn't the whole point of this thread (and it seems much of this site) the ANTI-Apple fanboys? The idiotic fanboys are everywhere (though Verizon seems to have the most - and I must say the Verizon iPhone scares me. Combine Apple's fanboys with Verizon's fanboys and you have the potential for a nuclear explosion of fanboyism in the coming months). Ignore them, they don't change the real merits of a product.
It's marketing. Apple and developers create the product, and then people market them. Apple does not create markets, but they sure as hell know how to expand it. There was a small tablet market before the Ipad, but when the Ipad came and hit, the tablet market blew up. Same thing with smart phones. Smart phones wouldn't have grown and expanded to the general public if apple didn't put out the Iphone.
Also, haven't had an issue jailbreaking. If you have an Iphone before 4.2, jailbreakme.com. If you have newer, redsn0w supports windows and mac. As for games, it's up to the developers, not the OS. Steam and valve have support for OS X, ID games do seeing that they're opengl games, and there are cider wrappers for a lot of games out there.
I wish apple would develop a computer that uses desktop parts and not mobile or workstation parts, since that drives cost up some. But for that, I have osx86. Until Apple makes a machine with complete desktop parts, well osx86 for me.
Just wanting to put a few things in here.
While reading through this thread, it seemed like all i was reading was a large group of teenage douche bags all getting together and talking about something they don't like.
Don't get me wrong, I love android but it doesn't have to be this "I hate apple, I love android" thing, they BOTH have their strengths and weaknesses.
Both OSs have been hacked because there are things people don't like about both, not just Apple. I mean, we are on a forum that is dedicated to IMPROVING the Android OS, obviously because it isn't what we would like it to be and we can make it better.
The iPhone is an amazing phone; if you have a good signal on ATT (which I have always had, never had that whole dropped calls thing over and over like people state they have) then most people don't have complaints becUse it just works. The OS is intuitive, very clean, and very easy to navigate.
When people ask me which to get, I always ask them right away, "are you going to be customizing the phone? How adept are you with computers?" if they aren't, I direct theto iOS because it is better as a STOCK OS.
If we couldn't hack and change android like we can, it might be a little better, but ONLY if you were very into the customization; for the average consumer, IOS is better. That's why it sells.
i*hone is a way over priced over hyped device imo

I admit that I was a formerly proud owner of the first iPhone (2G) but have disliked the gradually cultish nature of iPhone users over the years. I have met a lot of iPhone users nowadays and strangely enough, a lot of them express a particular self-absorption and lack of interest in the well-being of others for some odd reason.
I know that there isn't a scientific reason/explanation for a device affecting the personality of the iPhone owners or the culture of them as a group, but how can such a device have an impact on the lifestyles of these people. So my question is why are such people who are iPhone users tend to be ego-obsessed, yuppie-like, megacapitalist, arrogant, etc. etc. blah blah?
Case in point: I was on a recent date with lady who owned an iPhone and she couldn't keep her eyes off her iPhone all the time. After all, I would be hoping that I would have a word in straightedgewise once in awhile...?
(Btw, I myself am mostly a Palm Pre Plus and Android user mostly. I do use an iPad and iPhone for my art studio work so I am probably guilty of some of these qualities too?)
Anyways, regardless of political orientation, what is the sociological explanation for the cult yuppish nature and type A personalities of the iPhone owners? Feel free to flame on, but I'm actually interested in reasoned explanations of this mystery.
I think yuppie implies some sort of exclusivity or poshness. In an era where every man and his dog has an iphone i see it more as a commoners device
Actually, in my mind i see it as iphone=girls, Android=lads, Blackberry=Business, Anything Nokia=Simpletons, Palm=Non-conformist loners.
Yuppies, aka, hipsters. They are invading my neighborhood, which used to be a nice quiet Polish area.
They don't like anything mainstream (that's why they dress like **** and listen to ****ty music) but LOVE anything apple. They are one of those people that if an Apple worker takes a crap, names it iCrap, they will buy it. I really think there is nothing special about an iPhone, well maybe except ending the call by touching the side of it. There is nothing my G2 can't do that an iPhone can.
Don't get me wrong, I own an iPad, but I barely use it, and I was thinking of using it for my photo biz, and used it for that a few times already. I only bought it because iPad competitors were nowhere to be found, except the Gtab

Most people on this planet are "non-tech-savvy". They don't know the difference between 1080p and 720p, RDP and VNC, what's a "VPN", etc. The folks from Apple perfectly know this - that's why they make the most straightforward devices I've ever seen. Total lack of design (I mean c'mon - a button and a screen?) + an elementary user interface (considered revolutionary) = the iPhone. It's for people who want "high tech" and ""usability"" (notice the doubled quotation marks), who wouldn't probably ever want to know what makes their device tick, or even if it's working correctly, because "they simply won't understand it". That actually makes the iPhone something I would gladly give to my 75-year-old grandpa, whose knowledge of modern computer hardware and software is on about the same level as my cat's. I guess this is the primal reason Apple managed to create an enormous fan base of people, who would buy everything with a bitten apple engraved on it and, of course, Steve Jobs has praised for ~2 hours straight (in their presentations) with hundreds of five-dollar words like "this time we exceeded ourselves" or "it's truly amazing, MAGICAL even". People, who would so fiercely protect Apple's creations, it's scares me.
Its not the device changing the people, its just the type of people and the demographic that actually considers using an iPhone over a different device. The device has not shaped them but the device has changed our perception of the device and who uses it

iphone users are idiots , they pay about 4 times more for the same or less processing power , functions and ease of use that i can get from ebay
I don't think that that's the case unless all the people I see on the buses, subways, streets and schools tend to be "ego-obsessed, yuppie-like, megacapitalist, arrogant, etc. etc. blah blah."
Almost every person I see on a phone outside is on the iPhone 4, of course that's just NYC at the moment.
I always think of that Steve Mobs scene in the Simpsons every time i'm in a room full of people checking their iphone4's.

then you are a troubled man , with a bizarre dilemma to figure out , and need to find yourself
@MODS: I know that there's a condolence thread for Mr Jobs, so I started this one to discuss his legacy, and what people think about him here instead.
#warning: No profanity, no tasteless jokes, minimal snark, no flaming. <- mods help me.
I'll start:
While I disagreed with how he handled iPhone 4 and iOS in general, you can't deny that he did have a tremendous impact on the way smartphone and smartphone OS is designed.
Taking a look at Android's history and you'll realize that as the iPhone got popular, Android phones start to look more and more like an iPhone, but we finally eclipsed both the iPhone an iOS by the Gingerbread era. Without the competition, Android certainly would not have moved in this direction, and so fast. I have said this many times before, and it warrants a repetition; I wished iPhone 5 came out so that Android manufacturers up their game.
Another area is the design aesthetics that Jobs pioneered in Apple. Look around and you'll realize that Dell, Lenovo and Samsung are building laptops that compete with the MacBook Air.
Now, onto the bad part... I hated him for making the Mac a walled garden, and for imposing a "Mac Tax" on all Apple products. Towards the end of his life/career, even Apple got nervous and started to push for litigation instead of innovation.
In the end, I have nothing but respect for the man, and I hope that there will be more innovators like him.
Didn't he half ass run apple into the ground prior to leaving and coming back when the iPod got big?
I don't entirely agree with apples business practices but you have to give them credit for selling their products for much more than their worth while creating a cult following around their products.
He knew how to play on people's love of a pretty UI. Steve Jobs has my respect.

It was the start of the "lets see how much we can rip saps off for" project that apple ran after cancelling it's "lets try and help those in need" projects in 1994.
They found there were a hell of a lot of saps which could be ripped off a hell of a lot, often with the help of other saps which had been ripped off by Apple and apparently grateful for it.
This thing that Apple is suing every freaking mobile companies/manufactures with their (stolen) patents is really a shame. Look at this very last new of ITC banning the importation and selling of certain HTC phone in US. Whoever buys any new Apple products enable the company to become stronger and stronger, unfortunately not in a good way. Apple is trying so hard and at any cost to get rid of the mobile concurrence. This means hijacking the mobile marketing, which will eventually realize the company's dream to capitalize and control the entire mobile markering worldwide. If we are all a little bit clever, we should really open a campaign and let everyone know what the company plans really are, what they are doing, and work something together to stop this shame.
Please share this, have ur say and let everyone know what is going on, what they are really buying today and what consequence their purchase might cause.

Yea thats true.. Although I am sure there's still someone who doesn't know it and would like to stay away from powering up a company that plans to capitalize and get in control of everything.
A clear message needs to be sent...
i really don't know what apple is trying to do, sueing all the world.. maybe next will be eve cause she bit an apple???
by the way, reading everything is good to know HTC, and maybe Google already have a solution for this patent infrigments, so the android user experience will always be better than iphonish one...
I see no reason for either panic or concern. First of all, look at the range of devices affected: v1.6 - v2.2 You can't even purchase new HTC device with Froyo or older OS. Second, HTC already responded that they do have a workaround in the pipeline that would diminish all claims Apple's suit made.
Take a step back and try to look at the bigger picture. Ask yourself, why is Apple suing Samsung, HTC, etc? My theory is very simple; Apple's runaway success ran out of steam and they losing ground to Android quicker then Apple engineers are able to put together a new product. Earlier today Andy Rubin bragged about 700,000 daily activations. Simply put, Apple is scared of competition. Nay, they are scared ****less. Since they can't compete by innovating they choose to fight by litigating.
If there is one thing I have agreed with Jobs on, was his musing that "market will sort everything out". It looks like market already did just that and the new is not good for Apple, hence the lawsuits.

Obviously you don't know what ur talking about (take it as a polite way to call you troll).
What Apple has been doing ever since it joined the IT market back in 1985 is to steal other ideas and projects in a legal manner, then patent them and use them against any company/manufactures.
Btw Apple calls this "REINVENTING". Just like they reinvented the phone, reinvented the way to interact between apps, DLNA, the cloud, the pull down notification bar, and the list goes on on and on..
I think I said pretty much all..
Apple business model will fail not now but in the future. What apple is trying to do is to stall it in a way. They already knew sole proprietary will fail, they almost went under at the start..
Steve jobs started a vendetta againts the android os. This is common knowledge. He got mad that someone in his company said NO left and made a product just as good.
My thing is how and why would apple try to sue something that isnt even their os. Thats like microsoft suing apple for a double click to open a file. Or adobe suing java, its childish.
Or ford suing all car manufacturers for having a break pedal.
Noting was stolen, apple has its own OS and android has theirs.
In my opinion suing for how a devices behaves. Its stupid dumb and im surprised the judges havent said that.

You, obviously, came here to work up hate and anger for Apple. And I do see and read. I see Apple as the victim here. The others are violating Apple and you are "shilling" for the guilty.
Patents are the most rediculus things I have ever seen...
Patents should be used for something totally unique in innovation like design and stuff and not for something that is like a building block of every other phone too...
And buying someone else's patents is bull****...it shows that the company is not innovative and steal others ideas and just keeps on bragging that they have done all the innovations....
Talking about stealing...apple has also stolen other's stuff like the drop down notification bar, siri etc etc...but google and other companies never patent everything they innovate because they know that somethings are crusial for every phone and its very anti innovative to patent those things...
I wonder what will happen when the Patent Office starts accepting patents for things other than technology...then the whole world will start suing each other...and another world war will begin...
And look what Steve Jobs said in his biography that he can even go for a bio nuclear war to stop android....which shows how greedy he is that he can destroy the whole world just for something **** like iPhone...
And people want to move towards open source bacause its very innovative and free too...

Typical. People who hate Apple focus on one tiny little thing they do and ignore the mountain of violations the other companies have been doing against Apple for years.
And Apple owns Siri. They bought the technology from the creator of an Apple app and improved it and made it more perfect. That's what Apple does.

This is the typical Apple fan mode of operation:
Apple Fan: "Apple invented all this stuff!!"
Someone: "Err, no they didn't. There was this, that and the other stuff, which Apple copied."
Apple Fan: "Yeah, well, Apple owns the patents!!"
Suddenly it's not important anymore that Apple hasn't invented anything. And they're completely oblivious how what this does is point to the brokenness of the patent system, as opposed to pointing to the supposed brilliance of Apple.

Ok. One of the points I meant by this WHOLE thread was NOT about how you can improve iOS or iPhone. Frankly there are way too many people who already postulated that on the whole of XDA and the interwebs.
I want to encourage people replying to this thread to put on their thinking caps, and think of what sort of futuristic product they can think of that may very well be a potential innovation from Apple. Not a phone, nor an iPad, nothing about iOS. Break free from that shackle. The point is not that Apple is making losses now. The point was not really about profits. The point was making innovative products that they used to do on a regular basis (iPods, then the iPod nano when they first came) and then the iPhone/iTouch. But now they are just not innovating - either by making cool new products Or improving the existent one.
So, what would u do to give us the "wow" factor from Apple. The resounding wow that everyone said when the iPhone debuted. What would that be?

Steve Jobs when he first started off, was really into making products that "wow" people. He was also very business minded but still he did heavy investment and caused smaller profits because he spent a lot of time, effort and money on innovation. Same thing at the company "Next". I know I can't make Apple make MORE money than it does now, on its current line up. I am not a marketing or business guru...
I think you fail to see the point I make, oh good sir. What I am saying is Apple lost all innovation and is now purely gaining success on past success and marketing things to people.
And I claim I can and probably you can come up with "better" innovations than Apple does.
And so my question remains: What will you do at Apple as a CEO/Chief Designer that makes us WOW.
Because, if you feel "wow-ed" by Apple's current products, you probably have set a very (keyword: "very") low bar.

That doesn't make any sense. You are saying that if you ran this specific corporation you would not be in it for profit but you would basically just have crazy R&D going to "innovate"
You don't need a corporation or a logo or to run someone else's company for that, you just need money.
Your title is misleading, this is basically just "If you had 20 billion dollars in capital, what would you spend it on as far as R&D goes without trying to attain the most profit but just to be 'innovative'?"
In which case I would say Google Glass is basically what I'd be into, like set up a full AR network as picture in the awesome as hell sci fi book 'Daemon" by Daniel Suarez, and integrate that into your cell phone/communications and stuff.
And as to your claim that you can "run Apple better than Apple does" what you're actually saying is "In my opinion if I had all that capital made from not being original except maybe the very first iteration of the iPhone, I would spend it all not on what has made profit for me but on in what my opinion would be more "innovative" than what I consider the latest rendering of the iPhone to be"
It's the most arbitrary and subjective statement ever. I could just as easily say "If I ran McDonald's I would introduce hormone free big beef patties and sugar free buns because that is much better for you and not just about cheap profit like the current management, like the old days when it was about making burgers, not money"
i mean you could say that about any aspect of any company. Bottom line is you would probably run that company into the ground within 2 years.

You are making hasty conclusions and clubbing different sentences of mine out of context! Oh my gawd! How is it difficult for people to understand the following simple point I am making!?
Let me break it down for you, Internet style:
1) Do you think Apple is making the best and most innovative product every year?
A) NO.
2) Why?
A) Clearly there isn't one feature on iPhone 5 that isn't already there elsewhere. They just caught up with others. No innovation, and I am a sad panda.
3) Do you think spending some money in a multibillion dollar company for innovation is a good idea?
A) Yes. It will help differentiate their product and add value to it so people find it worth buying.
4) Do you think that will reduce profits?
A) In the long term definitely not. In the short term, may be but given the size of the company it is clearly worth investing for R&D.
5) Did other companies make interesting innovations THAT APPLE hasn't made?
A) Hell yes.
And (5) is my point people! Stop blindly trying to defend a corporation you like and just hear me out once. All I am saying is, and I bet you will agree, is that Apple didn't improve upon their OS/product in certain aspects thereby leading to not the best of the breed. I agree it is subjective, but still it is probably agreeable to a lot. The whole UI is still the same as before. They use a single button to accomplish 10 different things. Press the button one way and you get the homescreen, another way and you get access to task manager, another way and voice control. that is not particularly a fun thing to do. And then the homescreen is near useless for productivity.
For the first few generations of iOS, they were fine. But as the OS refines, it should try to change some of the ailing aspects of it. But they aren't doing that. And I bet even people like you and me can come up with those things. Most improvements to iOS that were "cool" came from the Jailbreak community (the stuff on the lockscreen giving info about various things - they hired a Jailbreaker to code it into iOS)
So, give me a break when you defend a company. When an ordinary developer on XDA or elsewhere can themselves come up with an idea that seems obvious (I mean, right from day one I was frustrated that my iPod touch did nothing on the homescreen other than just show me a wallpaper) I think I have justified what I mean by even I can do better than Apple.
It is a figure of speech, damnit! Why don't you see that and take it at face value and instead think of me as arrogant. I am just a frustrated ex-iOS user who understands both sides and kinda hates seeing Apple dig its own grave, slowly.... Marketing can take you only so far when people realize that they aren't getting what they want from their phone... and of course, there are iSheep as well... anyway point made. See y'all!
---------------
Side note: So as a consumer, you rather have a company MAKE the MOST profit out of you rather than they innovate? Are you telling me you are a billionaire and you wish for these greedy corporations to take more of your hard-earned money and rip you off more easily? Doesn't sound look good advice to me.

My point is that from a business standpoint with that type of attitude you would run the company into the ground.
From an "innovative" standpoint those are your opinions on iOS, which mirror everyone who doesn't like iOS's opinions. We've heard it a million times from every user on these forums.
You disagree with how Apple is run, that's fine. But this is all arbitrary and subjective. There plenty of "intelligent" people who could provide a good argument for iOS 6 being better than JellyBean, starting with the malware ratio for one.
Every one of your questions/answers is arbitrary. That's why we have choices. Don't like iOS? buy Android. Don't like either? Buy WP8. Don't like one of those 3? Tough ****.
Let's go thru your checklist as an Apple fan would (you can see from my signature which phone I currently love to rock).
1) Yes, they always have the fastest CPU/GPU, the best battery life, the best DPI (except maybe a couple crazy ass Japanese phones), arguably the best camera only to be compared with PureView, and the best form factor.
2) Let's talk features. There was already no competitor for Siri on the 4S. S Voice utterly sucks and doesn't recognize what I say half the time. Google Now is kinda cool but doesn't talk back the same way as Siri does, now with iOS 6 update it takes it to a new level. The form factor is the best. Not cheap Samsung plastic, Aluminum + Glass on the back, squared form factor with a new elongated 4" screen that you can STILL easily hold and type with one hand. The A6 processor out benches even the new exynos quad core.
3) They have an R&D department...
4) If you spend too much on R&D and not enough on other things, then yes, you have to have the perfect balance like Apple.
5) Yes, just like Apple has made innovations that others haven't made. Hence choices...
You see, it can be argued either way.
Your opinion is that Apple isn't "innovative" same as most of the people on XDA, you're not bringing anything new to light. You're just saying you don't think Apple is "innovative"
That's fine, you can have your opinion, but that's all it is, opinion.
side note;
all of your side note is conjecture. You think Bill Gates and Eric Schmidt aren't in it for the money you are insane. But they also want to make cool **** I'm sure, just like Apple does.

Well, it is a ballsy statement to say that one could run Apple better than someone experienced in the industry, especially since it is a multibillion dollar company. I say that smells.
Even I can run that company better and I have never, ever worked in an industry so far (unless you call interning at a company work experience).
It is not hard to see why. They are doing no innovation and 100% litigation. And all I see in their various products is upping the specs and prices and that's it. That is NOT innovation. It may be challenging to squeeze in more pixels in the same area, but guess WHAT. Apple didn't make that! It was hardworking other companies that manufacture better displays, better processors and chips that made that happen. Apple merely puts things together. In the light of this realization, we can clearly see that Apple did zilch, nada, शून्य, zéro, 零, нуль. No matter what language you speak, it will translate to "absolutely nothing". They did not improve the OS, just did minor tweaks or introduced features no one cares about (Siri, iMessages is a failure in implementation, facebook integration that I can do without, more facebook in my life != better life). Oh they added a new row of static and boring icons. If you see the jailbreak community, a good chunk of iOS users hate the interface and still stick with it. Beyond my understanding.
Oh, did I say absolutely nothing? My bad, I meant yes they did something alright - slow down an entire industry via litigation because "they couldn't come up with a new idea, boo-fricking-hoo!" It makes me think of the spoiled brat in the sandbox who fell down and wants to make others fall down too as he got hurt.
Side note: I never really thought Steve Jobs was involved in all the decisions made for the iPhone, but now it looks like he may have spear-headed the iPhone division after all. After he passed away, looks like the hard work he put in and the company he built is gonna die again (sad in some ways but also serves them right for bringing bad karma by suing Android and the Android device manufacturers).

Long story short, I want this thread to be innovative, wacky, weird and funny ideas for the following question:
What would you do differently, if you were the CEO of Apple?
Try to think without fanboy-ism. Imagine you were suddenly given control to this powerful corporation, you need no longer think about Android and all, so let your answer NOT be to destroy iOS and let Android win. Though that would be awesome. I want to see if we can come up with better products AND features in existing ones to warrant the name of this topic (which is we can run Apple better than Apple).
