Gmail and K9 Question - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been using k9 for my email since I have multiple gmail accounts, but today since I can use multiple accounts in gmail now, I set up gmail. I have found that emails that have embedded pictures do not show the pictures even if I click on show pictures. Any idea on how to fix this?
This has me considering going back to K9, but if I do does anyone know of a way to get messages to completely delete from the server instead of moving to Imap/Trash? I have it set to delete from server, but did not know if there was anything else I could set in K9 to do this. Thanks for any ideas.

The only 2.1 ROM that has pictures showing up in Gmail (so far) is DarchLegend v4.1.

[Q] Multiple email notifications?

So I'm getting multiple notifications for my Hotmail account. Basically, I'll get an email, read/delete it, then it shows back up in my inbox 20-30 minutes later (sometimes up to an hour), complete with a new notification. Also, possibly related, but it also doesn't really delete the emails from the account, so when I access the account on a computer, I have a ton of "unread" emails. Any way to get rid of the notifications and actually delete the messages from the account?
Anyone/anything?
What rom are u using ???
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
CM6.1 currently, but it did the same thing when I was running DC 2.09.1, and when I moved to CM6. I don't remember if it did it when I was using the stock ROM, that was a long time ago.
yeah i have this too with live acct, same as hotmail. i read somewhere that hotmail/live don't have the same permissions as yahoo/gmail, and there is not a fix. i did get a little better results after deleting the acct and reinstalling it after i switched to 6.1.
I don't think they will delete off the hotmail server will they. I don't use hotmail personally, but my wife has issues with hers on an iPod Touch. We figured it out, and it was something in the settings online. I tried to get to to just switch to gmail exclusively, but nada as of yet. closest I have come is talking her into an Android when she is eligible for an upgrade from Sprint in Feb
Check your hotmail settings on the web possibly?

[Q] Native email problem

I am using the standard email application and am syncing 2 btinternet accounts and 1 gmail.
The problem i have is that on one of the btinternet accounts it keeps syncing old emails and notifying me that i have a 'new' email. If i they mark the email as read or delete it then when the app next syncs it brings up another old email and notifies me i have a 'new' email.
The other issue (and possibly why im getting this problem) is that it only shows the last 25 emails. If i click the load more then it does load more of them but it seems that after a couple of times syncing that i am them back with just the last 25.
Anyone know how to get over this or what the problem might be?
I know there are other apps available but actually i like the simplicity of the standard app. I have tried aqua mail etc but had different sync errors with that .

Gmail has been very buggy and not reliable. I've had issues where I link all my e-mail accounts or try to move emails and it does not work. If you have several email accounts under gmail, and you are trying to do an action while under the "all inboxes", switch to your individual e-mail account where it says "inbox" and then try deleting it. Gmail does not work reliably under the "all inboxes" feature.
The app could use a lot of improvement, imo.

Nexus 6 Best email app?

Hi,
I'm looking for a good email app for my Nexus 6. I basically only use a personal outlook/hotmail account. I want to sync emails manually only, not push nor auto sync after a few minutes. With the gmail app, when I delete an email in my outlook IMAP account, it comes back and i have to delete it again. it annoys me. I've tried removing and re-adding my account as well. So Gmail is a no go unless this problem is fixed. I've tried many apps from the Play store including aquamail, cloudmagic, K9-mail, bluemail, WeMail, Air Mail-email, Solmail, Outlook app and Email Typemail mail. I'm not satisfied with any of these apps because either 1. no manual sync option (only push) 2. interface isn't that nice, 3. takes too much time to load emails. I've tried Nine which is perfect for me, but I'm looking for a free app. Currently, I'm using Boxer but still not totally satisfied as it takes time to refresh my emails. Any suggestions of free third party apps will be appreciated or maybe testes stock email apps of other phones?
Thanks!
You've mentioned that you have to delete the email twice. I'm assuming you're deleting the email in GMail, then having to enter your Outlook account and delete it there, if I'm understanding you correctly. If that is the case, then the problem is with your email setup. IMAP by design leaves messages on the server, since with IMAP only a copy is downloaded to a client, with the original remaining on the server. Since Outlook is your server, you have to access Outlook to permanently delete the message. If that behavior is not what you want, check in the settings for your Outlook account and see if you can send messages using POP3 instead of IMAP.
If you can make the switch to POP, the GMail app should then function as you expect it to, deleting the messages off both server and client.

k9mail is best option.
And I suspect that complaint of "only push" is targeting k9mail (since the rest of your complaints definitely don't apply), so I will say that you CAN set it to be exclusively manual. Its in Account Settings --> Fetching Mail --> Push folders, set it to "none". Also so it NEVER checks unless you tell it to, set Poll folders also to "none".
Edit: This should give you a hint;
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159420
Seems that MS does NOT implement the "Trash" directory in their IMAP structure. That means that any attempt to delete a message via an IMAP client will perform the deletion locally, then issue a MOVE command to move the message from INBOX to Trash on the server, and since the "Trash" directory doesn't exist, the MOVE fails on the server and the message remains in the INBOX.
Solution: in k9mail account settings --> folders, scroll down to "Trash folder", and select "Deleted Items".

Actually, I meant deleting it twice from the Gmail app. So for instance, I get an email and delete it in Gmail by swiping. After several seconds, I'll get a notification or receiving that same email. And then I have to delete it again in the Gmail app.
Even so, IMAP could very easily cause this, for the reasons stated. But thanks for the clarification.

No. IMAP *can't* cause this unless there is either a protocol failure OR a configuration error.
How do you resolve the OP's problem then?

I've actually setup my account with exchange activesync on the Gmail app. Entered the manual settings for setting up the Exchange account and now the Gmail app seems okay. Although, it's sending emails only from my outlook alias and not the orignal email ID, but that's not an issue at the moment.

Gmail/Settings issue?

I'm trying to use multiple Gmail accounts on my Note 9 like I have with other phones, but for some reason when I go to add a second Gmail account, another window comes up saying Checking Info... And then settings has stopped working. Anyone else have this issue?
I have 3 separate gmail accounts. I use outlook for android and dont have any issues. I also have 4 other email accounts.
Did you setup your gmail accounts on your phone first before going forward with the email setup?
What email app are you using?
Do you have any power save settings ? This can affect background settings.
The BEST email app I have ever used for multiple emails is K9.
