Tip I found when my BA Battery Level felt down crazily.
So i did a stupid reseach (simple but work!) and thanks god its succeded...
1. You Must Have a * Screwdriver
2. Make sure you donot need any Vibrate on your BA
3. Open the case carefuly and remove the Vibrator (DC Motor)
4. Screw back the case and lets Discharge your Battery to 1-5%
5. Re Charge Battery to 100% and Test it!
Its work on my BA... even the Battery Life take Longer.....
Good Luck

This is just a share-experience, itsn't a new innovation or BA-Hardware Bug.
i'm not sure true or false (im not the expert), i thought the function turn-off (by software), but electronicaly the hardware still connected and consumed battery power either its low or tiny...
tried to a friend who had some problem (battery drained so fast), its success...
that's pretty extreme ...
i bought on ebay 2400mAh extended battery...huge difference compared to stock battery...
i can do continuous internet (wifi) usage plus screen on full brightness for 8 hrs non stop!
usually, i recharge every 2-3 days. i don't use bluetooth but yes, damn bluetooth quickly deplets even this battery.
and this battery cost like 30 bucks...
halo .... mau tanya... trik ini juga berlaku buat universal nggak ??
draining th ebattery completely and fully charging it back up again does give th ebatt a kick again. u don thave to remove the motor.
It's strange, but it's works!
Tomorrow I opened my PDA2K to solve problem with loosing stylus. I've plugged off Vibrator connector. I didn't charge device till this time. About 28 hours has left and I have 70% main battarie power! About 5 minutes of calling and 2 hour of reading, ets..
bisa dipakai di semua product HTC
applicable for all HTC's product (might be this is a bug)
is this really true? I just can't believe it.
There is no need to cripple your phone.
look:
http://www.pdasmart.com/pda-battery-center/battery_QTEK_Qtek-9090_battery_center.htm
The standard battery has 1500mAh, but there are also 2400mAh batteries available. Standard battery goes for US$48, whereas teh extended battery goes for US$ 55. Get yourself one of these for xmas and stop worrying.
To bad those extended batteries are slightly thicker then the standard ones. As a result our BA doesn't fit in the cradle anymore.
So, the extra battery is really only an option if you use the travel cable to sync/charge rather then the cradle
The other thing no one seems to mention is that over tme the batterys naturally degrade alittle, so that just buying a new standard battery will last longer then an old one. Also doing the complete de-charge and recharge thing helps, it's not so bad with the battery types the BA uses but the Ni-Cad batterys where well known for having to be decharged.

Although the BA sits a little bent forward, is fits in my cradle without problem. You may not want to force the usb connector for fear of breaking it, but in my case it is working for months, I am just careful when I place the BA in it.
Buying a travel sync cable is a good option too

I'm not so sure that is correct. That was the standard advice for NiCad based batteries, with had a phenomenum known as "memory effect". Partially recharging the battery and recharging it was bad for them and a "full cycle" charge was an easy way to get some more life out of them.
The phones use L-ion batteries, which supposedly don't have any memory effect. I recall reading once that doing a full discharge is actually bad for them.

I agree with you bro!
My Hima battery is still going strong after 3 years with my habit of topping it to full charge at least 3x a day: in the car, in office PC USB port & at home in the evening.
USB port charging without the adapter connected is highly advisable since it simply "trikle-charge" the battery without the strain of higher current applied by the AC adapter.
I'm applying the same principles to my BA.
Thanks Berat akauts !!! Bener juga setelah gue buka batereinya bisa lebih lama !!!! Thanks Again I'm really appreciate it !!!
Hi to all!!.
Let's see if someone out there can give me a reason or a solution for my problem.
This weekend I went on a long trip and I found that if I use my TomTom while charging the Kaiser (regular car charger) at some point the PDA stopped charging and showed the "low battery" icon. The only way to get it charging again is doing a soft reset (with the device unplugged) and then plugging it again.
This is quite annoying since it's impossible to do this while driving since I need the GPS to get to my destination (this is the reason to have GPS, right!?)
any solutions??? I would be eternally gratefull if someone gets me out of this!
Thanxs in advance.
What is the current rating of the charger? When I used a cheap charger made for the RAZR I couldn't keep a positive charge when using GPS and sometimes it would stop charging and I'd have to disconnect and re-connect it. Didn't have to reset though. I suggest you get a higher current charger made for the Kaiser.
marc
I had this problem too and I simply changed the charger. Also, make sure that you see the "charging" icon with the electrical cord displayed when the device is connected.
I've had similar problems using several different car chargers.
When looking at the charger specs, I saw they all had a 1000mA current maximum. When I found a HTC charger for the TYTNII I immediately looked at the specs, and behold: 2000mA max. current
With the HTC 2000mA charger I haven't had any problems sofar. A week ago I drove 3000km using my TYTNII with tomtom and Charging/navigating went fine.
Yes... that may be the issue, I'm not using a cheap charger, I'm using the cheapest charger I could find!!!! jajajaja
And in fact it was done for the V3 RAZR... so... I'll try not to be so mean and buy a good one!.
I will tell you if this worked!... Many thanxs!!
I thought this was just happening to me as no-one posted about it 'til now!
Mine is from mobilefun, supposedly fine for a Kaiser, but i guess it's not.
There's no details on the product page about what current it can draw, but at £7 i think i may need a better one.
Can anyone point me to a site that quotes the rated mA for their products?
It's definitely the charger. I got 2 cheap ones from overseas for about $1 and I use it to charge up my psp and kaiser. The home adapter can't charge up the psp but only the phone and the car adapter can charge up both at the same time with no problems. And its using the exact same cable as well. So its definitely the adapter.
I agree 100% - I bought a cheap charger from eBay, but it would not charge the phone when using TomTom - and barely hold the charge when playing MP3s. I replaced witha genuine HTC charger and everything is fine
Your mileage with HTC original chargers may vary
The idea of using an original HTC charger for some reason seems popular here. The original charger that came with my 'sealed box' TyTN II lasted 4 charges (about 2 weeks as I'd charged by USB cable the rest of the time) before it made a loud click and the light extinguished for the last time. When I called HTC to ask whether a different model of replacement could be provided I was told I would only receive another charger of the same model. Not wanting to have the possibility of regular failures (and this thing did look cheap and nasty), I bought a different charger for £8.95 and that ones been going fine since. The one I now have is shiny and black (matching the TyTN II casing perfectly) and it came with a set of different interchangable 'prong adapters' so I can use it in the UK, USA, Europe and Australia
For a multiband top of the range phone like the TyTN II, why didn't the manufacturers supply these in the first place. My rating of the original HTC TyTN II charger that came supplied with my UK sourced device in Sep 2007 is 0 out of 10
I bought a 300W inverter from Maplin for £20 and use the three pin plug charger that I use in the house...

Could you let us know where you got this charger? I think I am running 700mA in the car, which is a SLOW charge... Thanks for the help...
I've bought the charger in a local store, but after some googling, i found it HERE
If you click on the picture to enlarge, you can just make out the max current (2A) on the label.
Using HTC part no. 81551 should give you plenty of results
Well mine also just developed this problem. Drove 130 miles in one day a couple of weeks ago (using Tomtom) and my old tytn 1 car charger worked fine. Then a week ago drove 40 miles using same charger and when I got where I as going I found the battery was almost flat and the phone was really hot! So did a search and found this appears to be a common problem with this phone. (Although I can't understand why it worked fine when I did the 130 mile drive!)
Anyway have taken the plunge and bought a genuine HTC car charge. First off, as others have said, I can confirm that it has a 2amp rating (my other one was rated at 1amp). Went out with it for the first time today for a short journey to a shop to test it using Tomtom. After 5 mins it did the same as my old one, the charging light went off and battery stopped charging. However after my shopping (bought something for my kids who have chicken pox currently!) I went for a 15 min drive and it worked ok, actually charging throughout and increased my battery by about 3% (from 74% to 77%).
So the upshot is - I don't know what the heck is going on - could be that my battery or phone got itself into a mess with the first charger and took a while to recognise the new one - or it could be an intermittent problem!
What I do know is that I am shortly doing a 1000mile round trip and I need it to be reliable - so will do more testing over the next few weeks and let you all know how it goes. Its still under guarantee so any more nonsense and it will go back.
In the meantime if anyone has any further info on this please post.
Cheers

I too have had similar problems. Bought a quality Brodit (Active) car holder with charger and it seems to charge for only about 30s-1min. The orange charge light only stays on for a short while and then then battery runs down!
Interestingly the charge indicator on the screen always shows that the device is being charged whilst connected in the car - even though the orange charge light has gone out. I've posted this in the general area for kaiser and also in the ROM area applicable (Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700) in case it may be ROM specific.
Another person reports no issue with the same charger as mine and the same ROM - it's all very annoying because there would seem to be too many complaining about such issues. The output amperage may be the issue but surely the Brodit (which is good quality) charger should be fine?
I will post whan I get this issue solved but I wonder if there is something in the Registry that can cause such issues too - I agree the output limitations are also of relevance (I just cannot believe that this is my issue).
Well I have been using the official HTC charger for a month now without any problems, only thing I would say is that my journeys have all been short (under an hour at most). however using my old charger it would die after a much shorter period so problem does seem to be resolved.
cheers

Temperature
Hi.
I had the same problem, with a different GPS software. Check the temperature of your device ( you can use a software called " Battery Status ". In my kaiser it never showed me a bubble ( like some other ROM ) that it reached 47C and then the phone automatically stops the charge.
The heat is from actual charging + the sun. I have a window mount and the phone was on it when I was charging. Take all into account and you will see that it will over heat quite fast.
I solved the problem by putting the phone in a shaded place when charging it. It also helped if its next to the vent, but don't cool it to much, because if you do then when you use the AC and you go out, some of the connectors of the phone will get corrosion on them ( SIM, USB, SD etc.) .
Good luck.
There are 2 reasons: The first just got mentioned, overheating by the combined effect of the device heating up itself and other factors like the sun. If the battery heats up too much, the safety system will stop charge, and the battery will then be drained until empty. No soft reset needed, but the device has to be cooled to the appropriate temp and the charger disconnected/reconnected. I was also having that issue when using my older Hermes with 3G sharing over wifi and downloading hard, even with the battery cover removed and the keyboard open the device was heating so much on itself it would cause that. The Kaiser seems to heat less when doing the same BTW.
The second is that when using a common charger (not HTC branded), even if it is rated at 2 amps the phone won't be drawing those 2 amps from it but will limit itself to about 500mA.
The reason is simply that it's being charged from a USB port, and a USB device is not allowed to draw more than 500mA from a USB port. HTC chargers have a chip inside and tell the phone that they are official chargers from which the phone may draw more. Without that identification the phone stays in low current mode.
On the Hermes it was even simpler, if you connected a generic charger it would not charge at all. It would only accept charging from an active USB port it was able to have a communication with, or the original charger.
So, use original HTC chargers when current draw is high. The Kaiser with GPS, full backlight and a GPS program running will draw something pretty close to the 500mA.
I used to be cheap on charger too until I used the battery sucker Dell Axim x51v (612mzh, VGA, BT) on my car. The I brought the 2A ecovell usb charger and my problem solve.

Have you seen this thread yet? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343951
Looks like that may be your issue. Saw a chap in the phone shop (in High Wycombe) the other day with a TyTN II with faulty USB port. Must be a common thing around the area but as I don't have a car to put a car charger into, it won't affect me!
Original charger
I had the same charging issue and solved it with an original htc charger, cheapest i could find was on Amazon for £12 delivered:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-HT...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1214645330&sr=1-1
Is anyone else having this problem?
Any work around to having it actually charge the battery up?
it uses electricity faster than its recharging its crap! ive never known any device do this. When im low on battery and have it connected to my computer i have to switch it to the mains for 30 mins. Its terrible, bad design fault
I have the same problem with my Toshiba G900 (WVGA too). Very slow on USB, but normal fast at standard charging or car charging. USB is very bad for this at all.
it really depends on what you're doing with the phone, its unlikely to charge when busy, its a lot faster at charging than my old advantage, im actually impressed!
have you made sure that you've not ticked turn off charging whilst connected to a computer?
charged in under 3hours whilst on connected to ubuntu yesterday.
don't u guys realized how many amperes that a USB socket and your PC (as well as the power supply) allowed compared to a wall socket?
usb chargin usually is never worth it.
I don't understand your disappointment, usb voltage/ampere are the same for all devices, even for my touch when used as modem doesn't supply enough power for charging seriously
Does it even charge at all via USB when the X1 is on idle? If it does, how long does it take from low to full?
I left my X1 idle on USB for 6 hours, it was nearly flat when I put it on and after 6 hours it was still 1 bar below full. Whereas my LG Viewty fully charged in about 2 hours. My Universal only takes about 3 hours
So in my case, comparing the three phones, you can see where my dissapointment originates from.

True tho, point taken.....dissapointment level aleviating.....slightly....
After my phone beeped saying the battery was low, I plugged it into my USB hub (which has a mains supply). An hour later I removed the cable and the phone beeped again.
At least with my P990 I was able to gain some charge, it seems like with the X1 it just stops the battery running down.
Try it after Softreset again. I had this problems with an old ROM on my G900 too. After some time it did not charge. Softreset fixed it.
also yall are forgettin that it's a different kinda battery in the x1 compared to other phones it's ising a li-po compared to a li-ion (which is in most other ppc phones) it charges slower via usb because it's tryin to keep from exploding any extra surge that the usb gets could cause your phone to explain
the li-po is more likely to explain given the way it's built
when you use the wall chargers and car chargers the connection are ment fron rapid rechargin of the device unlike the usb which is for data transfer mainly
when you think about the charge time just think about how long it actually takes for your phone to run out of battery life from what i heard it's close to like 1.5 to 2.5 days compared to normal ppc phones that last probably a day at the most with out recharge
hope this help

Err... this is not true for TP. TP lasts about 2 days on average from normal daily usage and it doesn't have problem charging via USB. Given that the port used is USB 2.0 not 1.1 or below. Took about 2~3 hours from nearly flat to full charge if I remember correctly. I have to try again just to make sure. But definitely not taking 6 hours.
I would've thought that X1 shouldn't have any problem with charging since the battery is only like 150mA more than TP. Also, if it's charging faster from the AC adapter, the same result should be expected when charging from USB port. Doesn't matter the type of battery used. Unless if X1 somehow limits the charging current on purpose when PC USB port is detected. Even though USB 2.0 is actually capable of giving out 1.5A maximum. Try to soft reset it after charging for about 2~3 hours. See if the battery gets fully charged. Some TP users are experiencing this issue as well when the battery meter only updates to fully charged after doing soft reset. Experienced users might want to try and measure the current drawn when charging via USB 2.0 port.
Hope this helps.
On my xperia if i put it in sleep mode, it charges no problem using USB.
the advantage used to charge slower from a usb port, that is until someone found out that the standard ac charger had a short across two of the usb pins, and with a quick mod of a usb cable charged quickly from the usb on a computer
however my x1 charges the same from usb or mains, I use the same cable, but can't see what difference that makes.
there are three conditions that affect charging speeds, whether device is on or not, off charges much faster, whether screen is on or not, screen off charges faster, whether theres good radio signal, if like at home, reception is dodgy it can really draw a lot of juice.
Just for comparison sake, I did a test on my TP just to confirm. Charging via USB 2.0 while it was on idle with screen turned on, from 4% to 100% it took about 2.5 hours and its battery feels warm.
Ok lets clear out some things.
A standard PC USB socket can provide maximum 500mA (milli-Amperes) Current at 5 Volt. Ideally that means that a battery rated at 1500mAh (milli-Amperes-hour) can be charged around 3 hours (minimum). Now, subtract the current that the xperia needs while operating and you will get how many milli-Amperes are left for charging.
Of course in order to know how many current the xperia needs to operate you need to connect an ammeter in series, also keep in mind that current needs change depending on usage (wifi, 3g, bluetooth etc).
So in essence if you USB port is not very good and can't give fully 500mA and the xperia needs a great amount of current to be on, then the charging time can be quite long. A simple formula could be:
xperia_Battery_mAh / (USB_Current - xperia_Current)
Now the mains charger is rated at a greater value than the USBs 500mA. Actually I don't own yet an xperia (waiting patiently to arrive), so I don't know how much current the charger can give. Can someone see what is the rating of the charger?
From other devices I own (that can charge through USB) I've seen that their chargers are rated as high as 2 Amperes. Obviously these devices never draw so much current, it is just a failsafe or it was more cheap for them to bundle a charger like that. But they could draw 800mA of current which the USB port is unable to do so.
Keep in mind that while charging with USB might be longer, generally it can be safer for the battery (longer battery life and more charge/discharge cycles), although I am not so sure about this with excessive charging times in a USB port.
This is probably a dumb question but, I was wondering if the phone gets charged to the fullest while using a usb extender plugged into the htc power outlet and then from that to the original htc usb cord? Also I read that it is ok to use an official motorola wall charger. Will the phone get charged to the fullest with that? Just trying to see how i can make my battery last longer at it usually only lasts from 10am-4pm and i have to use it again.
Mmmm...
Not really sure what you're asking here. If the charge indicator is showing on your device, however you've got it connected, it will charge until the battery is full. You can tell this by the LED 'circle' showing constantly.
I don't know about the Motorola charger. You'll have to check the output. You need DC 5v @ 1A. I would be surprised if there is a vast difference between devices. The voltage is the main issue. If the ampage rating is higher, the battery will still only draw what it needs.
Battery only lasting 10am - 4pm... you must be a heavy user! I occasionally can flatten mine in a day (6am - 8pm), but very rarely. Usually I can get two days out of it.
most i do on the phone is text. do you have a lot of apps installed on your phone?
Yeah...
I think I have a lot... though compared to some probably not! I have about 20 third-party apps on it. I don't do many calls, but I use the apps a lot during the day, especially RSS Hub, Opera, Word and Excel. Nothing major really.
You'll probably get better power management from a custom ROM, if you haven't got one installed already.
yeah roms scare me as you cant find a "hard spl" for the alltel version of my phone. or nobody really talkes about roms on the alltel touch pro
I everyone,
I'm getting a problem in my Kaiser phone when i'm trying to use internet connection.
After i turns on the wifi or 3G connection, i takes 1 minute to my phone turns off.
Then, to turn it on again, i need to connect it to a cable charger.
The battery apparently is good (90% +/-)...so i cant understand what it is happening.
Sometimes, when i making a call, it turns off too at the end or at the middle of the conversation.
There's anyone who have this problem too? Or similar?
Thanks
Sounds like battery as shutting down when increasing the amont of juice usage mA.
yep. battery protection circuits. had same issue with a month old - new battery
Thats what i thought! Thanks to both.
My kaiser have same problem too. I was looking for new battery, but I am not sure which one to chose ... the big one with new back or original?

the big one seems to have the same electronics as the classic size one, which make it not work as it should. You'll have slightly more power with it, but not so much as you would expect from it's specification.
classic size - original would be expensive
fakes are ok, but tends to break. capacity is fine on them. I would buy 3 pcs of fakes. they are like $3 and at least one will make it.
I've got 3 fakes, (in 3 diffderent phones) after 2 months two working good, on the third current sensor got crazy and start shutting it off on wifi or call.
But this would too indicate that there IS current sensor what is a little surprise, as before they didn't have this protection. (just thermo or none)
and get an external batt charger too. I have two of these, works fine:

Thanks! I was thinking abut that, i think i'll go for the biggest mAh (for the original size) and use the external battery charger (maybe the one with docking station for phone).
And I'll use this dead battery only for NAVIGATION (in car with the original HTC car charger)
