in manila settings - Data Services - Internet time sync are options for that:
->get time from the internet
->get time from the internet while roaming
though not exactly sure how and if they work
I have such an option on the std WM phone setting applet, it should be a tab like "time zone" (I'm trying to guess the translation, 'cause mine is Italian) with a check box "automatically change time and time zone"

Go to settings for HTC home weather (where you select city) and de-select autoupdate.
This has been covered in other threads.
ok gonna help you out.. here's what you do:
let it update when u click over and then once it's done click on the town name in the top left of the weather tab. It will take you to "Select City" menu. From there click Menu at the bottom right and go to "Weather Options". Once you're in there, uncheck "Download weather data automatically*"
Actually, you'll find the Auto Update is pants anyway.
Maybe it's city based, but London is never updated, so when I click on it always as to connect to update. This is on a Vario III / TMobile version of the Kaiser.
Found this on the TYTN2 as well.
So, just don't click on Weather, and you'll be fine!

I think you will find this is an operator specific problem and nothing to do with the thread question.

Oh, OK - Any more information on this?
Did T-Mobile disable this part of the HTC Menu?
Will installing a HTC Menu cab fix this?
I realise this is a little off topic, and that my answer was a cheeky swipe and not a helpful answer, but a brief come back would be appreciated.
Cheers

If you cant update with your operator, no changing of the SW will fix this. Try updating the weather when you have an active WiFi or Activesync internet connection.

Sorry, I have mis-informed you.
It willl update over GPRS, but whenever I click on the Weather tab, it's blank and says "Attempting to download data..." and then connects (GPRS is already connected) and after 8-12 seconds, updates the weather.
This is despite it being set to Auto Update - hence my comment that Auto Update is "pants", and is not going to use data unless you actually click on the weather tab.........
Any idea on how to fix this are greatly appreciated.
It's not a big thing, but it's annoying.
I think it's just using a different definition of "auto update" - it isn't meant to be updating in the background, which seems to be what you're after. In fact, if it did, I suspect many more would complain!
All "auto update" means is that it will go off and get the latest weather if you click on that tab, and it hasn't been updated in the last x minutes. If you don't have "auto update" on, it won't, and you'll have to specifically ask it to.

As far as I know, that is the normal function of the auto update and thats why the originator of the thread is asking why it tries to connect to his non-active GPRS connection when he clicks on it. Auto update is not some form of regular timed update. This method prevents data access usage when you dont need it (costs money to most!).
Autoupdate updates when you select the weather icon or when you connect to the internet via Activesync, when deselected, you have to tell it to update yourself.
Hope that makes sense.

Oh, I See.
Well I know several TYTN2 / Vario3 owners who feel (like I do) that "Auto Update" should be Automatic, not when you trigger (a manual request) it by opening the tab.
I can see that for non flat rates data tarrifs this could become an issue, but then un-checking "Auto Update" would be a sensible option........
However, if that's how it's supposed to work, so be it.

Do you still have the problem after you uninstalled IGO8, because it can cause your phone to change the time according to your IGO8 settings everytime you launch IGO8.
Hi !
I'm going on holidays in a few days, and I'd like to know how to disconnect everything execpt phone & sms. I don't want my phone to check mails, weather & finance and paid a lot for roaming there things.
Thanx for answer.
Olivier.
I usually do this by switching the default network to ISP or company.
Others use a tool called "nodata", which I never used.
I do it this way:
Go to the Settings (full-settings, not the TF3D).
Connections / Connections / Advanced / Choose Networks
Change the first entry to ISP or Company-Network.
Maybe the wording is slightly different in english, I dont know, because my device is set to German.
regards thorsten
Thanx for helping me Thorsten.
have a nice day.
I did the best search I could without any success. Therefore, I'd really appreciate if anybody can name or send the Manila file(s) that are related with "My Location".
I will try to edit, if I can, so that it will show my city instead of "My Location" after a soft reset.
I am using 28014 ROM with Manila 2.5.1921
Many thanks
Dear Chefs,
any help?
thx
manila should remember your last choice of weather city even you perform soft reset (hard reset is another issue).
If you really dislike my city, try search how to disable my location.
no, it's not that I dislike it, on the contrary, I want the manila to remember the city I select but it does not. It simply goes back to "My Location".
Just to give an example, the manila in Xannytech 1.7 and Miri_28011_Manila25_TEST ROMS does remember the city whereas Flashmore and Lost in Asia V16.1 ROMs don't.

Make sure "Automatic change time zone and clock" is not ticked on in Settings -> Personal -> Phone -> Time Zone.
If that is ticked ON the phone will revert back to My Location after a while and at every soft reset.
Otherwise you can use Dutty's Disable Current Location CAB, you can find it around here.
My Location is designed to work like this. It will "always" update where you are. But sadly, it doesn't work with GSM. You need to turn your wifi on to get it work.
First of all, many thanks to everybody for all their kind comments and replies.

Yes, of course, My Location is enabled. I chose Istanbul in the Weather Tab and removed all other cities. Then I went to the Home Tab and selected Istanbul by pressing on the clock and ticking "Istanbul" option button and thereafter Istanbul shows up right below the clock with all weather animations..etc. However, I have to follow the aforementioned procedure after each soft reset.
I will now check what snapilica2003 suggested above.
@ mcdull: yes, but I am not trying to use My Location so that when I go to another city the current location is updated. All I need is the selected city to show up after each soft reset.
best regards

ok, tested on "BLACKSTONE - PDAVIET ROM WM6.5 (Core 21619) by T2M" but there's NO "Automatic change time zone and clock" setting in this ROM.
Now, will try LIA 16.1 and provide feedback................
snapilica2003, thanks for your advice! All works fine!
OK, snapilica2003's suggestion works on Lost In Asia V 16.1 21616 because there's "Automatic change time zone and clock" option.
Many thanks snapilica2003!
Also works on on LIA 28014 version.

Why is My Location over gprs only working with activated wifi, without beeing conected to any ap though??
For me it seems that the location app is getting the correct data over gprs but needs an activated wifi driver or something like that in order to get the data.
Wouldn't it be possible to write a mortscript or an app that will permanent fake such a wifi driver beeing activated?? For that case we would be able to update our current location over gprs the whole time

Anybody,
Is it possible for you to include an option in the date setting to turn on/off daylight savings adjustment. I live in Jamaica and we do not adjust for daylight savings, so everytime I sync my D2 with Outlook during DST it adjusts my clock forward 1hr.
When I reset the time on my phone all my appointments are thrown off by an hour.
This is driving me CRAZY!
Help please.
Advanced Config 3.3 has a setting to ignore DST as does some other tweak apps.
Try this...
use a reg editor to change the setting...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Clock\HomeDST
HomeDST=0 (disable DST)
HomeDST=1 (enable DST)

Thanks man. Just disabled auto DST switch using Advanced Config. If only I had known it were so easy. Feel a little like a Duh Duh
Well I guess I'll spend the rest of my evening fixing my calendar for the last time now that I got rid of that headache.
Thanks again

This didn't work.
It says it's disabled in Advanced Config but as soon as the phone syncs it advances the time 1hr.
About to try the 2nd suggestion with the reg edit

Your time is syncing with the internet.
You need to go to Settgins Tab\Data Services\Internet Time Sync and uncheck "Get Time From Internet"

That was one of the first things I checked. The box for Get Time from the Internet is not checked.
Well I've tried all 3 suggestions above... none work.
Any more offerings???

I used Registry Editor and did this, set HomeDST to 0 as soon as I connect to the computer to sync it sets it back to 1 (enabled).
What next?
There a registry key to enable/disable automatic DST change :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Clock\AutoDST
AutoDST=0 (disable automatic DST change)
AutoDST=1 (enable automatic DST change)
In fact, Advanced Config toggles this one.
Try and let us know.
No solution
Hello!
I already disabled DST and auto DST from the registry to no avail.Time sync in "UMTS/GSM services" is disabled.Once in 3-4 days my phone switches back to winter time instead of keeping the standard time and screws my morning alarm and my appointments. My desktop is set to standard time so no screwing from that connection via ActiveSync.Despite the season I need to keep the standard time instead of winter time.
Any solutions?

thanks man ... works like magic
DST should automatically handelled by the ROM instead of a switch I think.
I use Photon ROM and never had this issue.
During the DST changeover here the device was good and corrected times automatically. Also the calender events, alarm all invoked at correct time too.
