No sound when recording video - Touch 3G ROM Development

Hello!
I am using ironeagle's Jade_Leancut_Flame_WM6_5_CE_OS_21889_OEM_2_33_7_2_ 1_1 WWE on HTC Touch 3G.
Although I am very happy with it, I have the following problem:
I've tried to record a video, but the recorded file had no sound. In camera settings "Record with audio" is enabled. I tried recording in both mpeg4 and H.263 formats and the results were the same.
The microphone is working, since I am able to use the phone.
When trying to play the recorded video with Windows MediaPlayer, the following message is returned: "The source filter for this file could not be loaded."
The same file is played by CorePlayer, I can see image but there is no sound. On desktop the file is played without sound.
It seems to me that the camera is recording only video, without sound.
Any ideas how to overcome this?
Many thanks!

im having the exact same problem.
I am using energy rom.
please help!

Try PDAVIET V29. Same build, recording with sound. No footprints and quite loaded though.

Thanks tropical cactus for your reply.
I wonder if I can do something less radical than reflashing.
I kind of like this ROM, except for this bug...

Well, there's a bug somewhere in all cooked roms. It just depends on your needs. I've just found a bug in V29 when forwarding emails... they come up empty at the other end. Don't know if it's the rom or hotmail. But everything else seems to be in working order. I've got to the point where I won't consider reflashing until I've read the reviews (complaints) of a new rom. It really isn't worth the effort, since I usually customize my phone up to the neck.
Edit: Oops, I've just found out email forwarding ok from another recipient. It really is a reliable rom. Try it.

Yes, reading everything about a ROM before flashing is a "MUST".
It's just the fact that only few noticed this issue in several ROMs, and nobody found this bug in the ROM that I'm using.
PS: I've noticed that often ROMs with Manila stripped out tend to have this problem.
Best regards!
I'll keep searching for a solution though...
Or perhaps I'll flash the ROM you advised. How is battery life?

Video taken is blank

After flashing the ROM (L26 WM 6.1 Professional WWE V6a with
R 1.58.26.20) everything works fine, but videos taken with the camera show only as a green screen. The sound is there, just the picture is missing. When I transfer the .MP4 file to the PC and play it - the result is the same. The PC has the K-Lite codeck pack, so it is not a codec issue.
I searched this forum and couldn't find anything about this problem. Any ideas?
You gotta take the lens cap off!
Ha ha! couldn't resist.
I've had a similar problem with taking pictures a few times and never figured out what it was. It was in a high light situation, with the resolution set to highest and superfine and the pictures taken were just solid black, while pictures taken immediately in a different lighting situation were fine. I dropped the resolution down a notch and it worked fine.
Weird.

Actually it's been a fairly recent discovery I think. Probably related to the release of the new CPUs (MSM7201) that are suppose to circumvent some patent infringement or something. Anyway, you can follow the progress of this issue here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387057
and if you want, you can test out the Hyperdragon ROM, but then updating it with the original file posted in that thread. (I'm too lazy to do this and I already have my rom set up the way I want it haha).
Hyperdragon ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386519
Then load the original CIF dll (CIF_314.zip) from page 5 of the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387057
And post your results there to let us know if this fixed the camera Thanks
Yes, you were right. It was the new CPU on my Tilt. The funny thing is I tried several ROMS and all of them were recognizing it as 7200. I finally installed the NoThrills ROM and it recognized it as QUALCOMM(R) 7201 and the camera started taking videos. This ROM also runs everytning faster... at least until I started installing things.

Full-screen video malarky

Hi all,
I've been lurking here for ages, thought I'd better register. So erm, "Hi"
I'm enjoying my Kaiser. Not for particular reason, it just feels more polished than its Hermesean predecessor. Faster, swisher, not quite so annoying!
However, one thing that is *very* annoying is that I can't play any videos in WMP. They're fine in normal mode, but as soon as I try to maximise them, the screen goes black. Sound continues, no video. I can tap out back to the normal view but the video will still be missing (in minimised view) until WMP is restarted.
Anyone else encountered this problem? The first thing I'll try once I've got Ububtu sync working is installing another video player - TCMCP seems a popular choice. But if this video problem persists, I'm in trouble!
If that happens, I'll just go blame it on HTC's "you don't need drivers" attitude and start shouting at them
To fix this:
Get KaiserTweak from the sticky at the top of this forum. It has a setting for WMP in fullscreen.
Fullscreen working fine with WMP on my WM6.0 Tilt
Sweet - I'll give that a go. Chainfire's app is one of the first things I've got planned to install - I didn't see it had a fix for this also...
Thanks!

Question for all chefs: AudioBooster versus SRS WOW HD

Is there any reason why there is AudioBooster preferred over SRS WOW HD (in fact I cannot see any ROM with this included)?
I am using SRS WOW HD without any issues and like it much more than AudioBooster, in fact AudioBooster is making the sound really crappy, like those old equalizers in radios and walkmans from 20 years ago whereas SRS WOW HD has a much better sound and much more functions to configure.
It's just a question to know if chefs know about that option or if there's any particular reason
Thanks.
What version of SRS are you using? Didn't it give you problems when installing on your blackstone?
Attached. Works perfect for me
Do you happen to know if it works with WM6.5?
Of course it does
I'm using Miri's WM6.5 Premium V19 and have no issues with SRS WOW HD at all. In fact, I haven't had any before, too.
Thanks! will try to install now. Wish me luck!
Install, soft reset, then go to Programs - Settings - System and you will find it there. Enjoy.
I have installed successfully but it doesn't seem to make any difference when I change the modes. Like WOWRock to WOWClassical or even to Normal. Also the Volume doesn't seem to change. Even if I put the volume to 0% it is still playing. Could this be because of the software?
Have you selected headphones under the "enable" checkbox in WOW HD Settings?
yes I did. I'm not sure why it doesn't change. Do you have an idea? I've been wanting to use this sofware for a long time.
Have you soft reset your device? Do you have AudioBooster disabled? What player do you use?
Yes I did softreset. I have not enabled audiobooster. I use WMP. It also disabled the volume changer on my phone. I put volume on WMP and on the system to 0 and it doesn't change it is still playing with the same level of volume. you are not experiencing this?

Alright.. you convinced me. It does sound better than HTC's Audiobooster. We cook it in cause it comes with every stock ROM outthere. It's more an issue of... why we dont take it out then putting it IN.
Anyway, I'll cook the cab you provided in my ROM from now on
I definately agree that SRS WOW HD sounds much better than Audiobooster. I've been using it in a few devices and many ROMs without any problem. I also install it through SASHIMI with my personalised reg settings. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SRS\WOWXT\WaveDev]

I am using CorePlayer and have no issues at all. I will try WMP and will let you know, but so far I have no idea why it does these things to you..
Edit: Seems like WMP is not working with this. HTC Player in Manila works fine.
WoW
Hi Mate.
Nice one.
Last time I tried wow on HD it didn't work, and I miss it.
Hey why don't you tell Miri about this?
Anyway, I can use it myself.
Thank you
I know there is a version flowing on internet which is older than mine (but higher rank in web searchers), I think 1.2.09 or so.
That version is buggy and doesn't work well, the one I have attached works just fine.
Does this cab break master volume as well as WMP?
No, this cab will not affect master volume changes, I have found only WMP not working with this.
Great find my friend, thank you.

[Q] CM7: no audio for the videos uploaded to youtube or picasaweb!

Just flashed the CM7 stable build on my hero. While everything seems smooth (Great job and tons of THANKS to the CM developers..darchstar you rock!), there is one feature that seems broken still (I've tried with all the CM7 RCs). The audio for the videos taken with the phone get messed up when uploaded to youtube or picasaweb (I haven't tried other sites though). I use this feature quite a bit to share videos with my friends and family. It works flawlessly on CM6.1-rc1 so I keep going back to my backed-up froyo rom. But I really like to be on CM7! Is it possible to fix this issue? Or is there is a workaround for this?
I compared the properties of the videos taken by CM6 and CM7 and found that the audio frequency of the video recordings by CM7 were 16KHz vs 8KHz with CM6. That might be a cause of the problem when the video is compressed and uploaded to youtube...not sure though!
Anyways, I would greatly appreciate if this issue is fixed or if there is a settings that I can tweak to get this resolved and/or any workaround! Thanks in advance!
I do not know about the video/audio issue BUT, you said you were nandroiding back to 6.1 "RC1" .... If that's correct, you may as well flashover 6.1 FINAL, it was way better than RC1, here's a link to it:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/7060-cyanogenmod-61-for-hero-cdma-v610-12072010/
Thanks for the tip. I'll try it out if I don't get any solution to the cm7 problem. Can you tell what's different in the FINAL vs the RC1 ? Is it performance?

[Q] Audio missing from end of YouTube videos

Hi,
I've got a problem with the last few seconds of audio missing at the end of YouTube videos.
I'm using Flash version 11.1.111.43, the last one available for CM7.2. The CM7 is edowar's from a while back, with kernel 2.6.32.9.
The audio is missing during the first playback of the video. But if I then rewind the video and play the last few seconds again, the audio plays as normal.
It happens with all the browsers I've tried, including Dolphin, Opera Mobile, and the stock browser.
Please could someone provide a solution. I'd rather not upgrade to CM10 as I'm happy with the setup on this phone. But I watch YouTube videos a lot, and having to rewind the last few seconds each time is becoming tedious, so if I have to upgrade to CM10, I will. Ideally, I would just like to alter Flash in some way.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Jacko
If anyone is still using edowar's CM7.2, or indeed any CM7.2, please could you check a short YouTube video in your web browser, using a desktop user agent, and let me know if there is audio all the way to end?
This would help me to know whether or not there is something wrong with my setup.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Jacko
Well, at least I've learned that I'm the only one still watching YouTube on CM7.2.
I hope the gains from CM10 have been worth it for those of you who have upgraded, such as it being faster, more stable, and perhaps even that the FM radio and HDMI work.
Personally, I have always doubted that this phone could handle anything heavier than CM7 (which it only just manages to do with selective use of Autorun Manager, or something similar).
Or, I could just be in the wrong forum. But asking either Google or Adobe about a non-supported operating system running on an old, unpopular device, just doesn't seem worthwhile.
Anyway, I'm off now to kill this browser process and clear the various caches, before I crank up Aqua Mail to wade through some spam.
See you all later,
Jacko
Your not the only one using cm7.2 as am also a big fan. Most of us don't come here often, hence the delay in replying.
Well currently am using cm7.2 blackace by gundul which is ultra stable n fast with efficient multitasking capabilities.
It was also ported from edowar I think cos it came with his kernel as default.
You could give it a try, I can guarantee you that that Rom is the best in this forum so far.
Also u could try abens cm7.2 kernel to over come sod. Also CKs new kernel rocks this Rom really well.
Hope you find all these info useful.
Thanks for the reply. Whilst I appreciate it, my question was about YouTube and the Flash plugin cutting off the the last few seconds of audio on CM7, rather than which other CM7 ROMs I could change to.
Are you saying that audio does not stop early at the end of YouTube videos on your CM7 ROM?
If audio plays all the way to the end for you, which version of the Flash plugin are you using? You can find this out at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
Your post on other CM7 ROMs may still be useful if I do have to change my ROM. But I would rather not go to the trouble unless I was sure that it would solve my YouTube audio problem.
Regards,
Jacko
many of my friends love this rom, so I made another improvement

If anyone else wishes to ignore my original question and instead talk about different CM7 ROMs, then go for it.
But I would rather talk about audio with the Flash plugin and YouTube on CM7, if you don't mind.
Thanks,
Jacko

All I wanted was for someone to confirm whether or not the audio plays all the way to the end of YouTube videos in CM7.
Can someone with CM7 please try a YouTube video and tell me if the audio plays all the way to the end, or if it stops a few seconds early?
You don't have to tell me how to fix it, but PLEASE can you just test ONE YouTube video.
Thanks,
Jacko
