Alright, I've been meaning to do this a while;
Jamezelle asked me to port his Sense Hero build over to the new installation method a while back but I've been really caught up with my personal build. Now that I'm at a level I'm comfortable with I had some time to do this for James.
Bear in mind this is a cupcake based build, so alot of the new work we've done to tweak android won't work here. But it was good then and it's just as good now
Please don't use the 'orange' launcher on setup. I just realized now after uploading 100MB that I put in a donut launcher that won't work in cupcake. so just use rosie.
I've tweaked it a little, including userinit on boot etc.
It is nandable. Boot up is slow because it isn't odexed however once up and running it runs as good as.. well as good as it did before.. lol

also you dont need to format your card for donut and above. so if you had started out with donut or eclair and didnt format your card thats probably why. cause i had to format my sdcard when i was using cupcake but then i had got a new sdcard and immediately switched to donut but never formatted my sdcard and it worked. just throwing out some possibilities

I love the Hero, thanks so much! I think it's running even faster than the tatoo, but since it's cupcake, all the wifi updates I have for donut and eclair don't work for the cupcake (I tried and with no luck), it would be perfect for daily use if the wifi is working, anyway, appreciate for your work!
Thanks for all the info guys. I love the senseui in this SenseHero build…but I honestly miss Myn's Warm Donut. It is the most fast and reliable build I have tried for the vogue. Even with the Market working in the SenseHero build, it lags to much to me. I will really miss using the mail, sms, album, and calendar widgets that are in this build. Does any one know if I could just take the apk's of the widgets out of the data/apps to insert into the ported Hero theme in Myn's Warm Dount?

Here is a link to the flan gallery apk file for you all. Looks great but for some reason runs super slow on the g1 but if someone can optimize we could get it to work.
http://droidmuff.in/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/gallery_flan.apk
did you install this as a system app? or just install via appmanager or the likes?
Just to clarify, this is for 2.01+ right?
i pushed it to system/app thru adb and im running 2.01
Installed through ADB and runs slow on my G1 as well.
not working for me on 1.6 but it seems some people got it working on 1.6 with different roms ..
what rom are you running turboyo?
I wonder what roms they were using.
http://www.androidauthority.com/ind...ry-application-now-available-for-android-2-0/
That's the ealiest version i've seen it has been released for. Anyone know of a 1.6 release? A backport for this would be great.
the reason its so slow for the g1 is because it doesnt support all the 3d acceleration like the nexus and newer android devices do so it will always be slow, your lucky it ran at all, which is why the 2.0 update for the g1 is taking so long because they have to remove most of the 3d from it so it can work with the hardware.
i tried it both on cm latest and on the super d rom
I installed it on my friends Droid, it wasn't rooted. Just stock 2.1 or 2.0.1 whatever. It works well, semmed maybe a little slow, but probably normal.
But he had 2 gallery apps, but it works well on the Droid.
This App must load every picture on sd as a thumbnail.
Let him create. I wait over half an hour, than my hero gets all pictures as a thumbnail.
Then its really fast. Try it out! If the thumbnails overview is smooth and fast, then your Android has catched all thumbnails.
whenever i leave it to load all the images my phone goes to standby and when i come back it just starts from the beginning again

anybody get this to work on super D's 1.6 rom?
just curious
Seems to NOT work on Eclair_2.1-v1.5...
5 seconds of black screen and then slow, slow, slow, slow... waiting and waiting and waiting....
although the titles of my picture folders tilt and skew in neat ways as I tilt my MT3G!

uuuhhhhmmm... So clarify this for me... You're having to wait 30 minutes for all your thumbnails to load EVERY time you use this? Or was it only like that the first time you opened it?
why do people keep referring to android 2.1 as flan??? its éclair or is this a twig from the flan branch?
Wasn't it already established that it's slow on the G1 because the g1 doesn't have the graphic acceleration/3d Rendering like 2nd gen Android phones?
Like when the first GBC rom came out and it only ran between 0-12 FPS and then we gained hardware acceleration er sumethin'

Just a minor bug fix for the Droid and **** like that for general goal accomplishments of what 2.0 was suppose to be.

What is the best (most painless) way to go from donut to eclair and keep your apps and data?
Do you just have to redownload all of them or is there a way to back them up such that you can access them in the new build?
I know you can't restore data from a backup made in a different version, but is there any other way?

What is the benefit of going to Eclair? I know Eclair on Vogue has the following issues. Correct me, if I'm wrong.
cons of Eclair:
no camera
unstable and slow
battery drain

1. correct, no camera
2. May not be as fast as donut, but it is fast and stable
3. Pretty close to the same battery life for me, good for a couple days with light use
the benefits I see are more eye candy and the facebook integration is pretty cool, along with the slide lock screen and live wallpapers and whatnot
I have mssmison's 2.1 on nand and myn's donut on my ext2, its pretty cool to be able to go back and forth, plus you can show it off to your friends if ya want
all in all 2.1 is catching up as mssmison is doing a great job

Try Myn's warm donut 1.6. The 1.5 (cupcake) your trying is way outdated.

Also you have to enable notifications in the texting app.. You do that by hitting the power button on the top of the phone to bring up the settings and go to the bottom of the settings to enable the notifications.

edit : probably its just my connection, still can't download it.

Thanks, this is great
its so clean without the unnecessary icons and more space for other apps
EDIT: One question, I tried out Flex dialer and i cant seem to get it to work, I just get an "I'm sorry" error when it dials my voice number.

th3lolz said:
Yeah I had the same problem, go to the flex dialer configuration settings, and change the dial pattern from "A,B,2,C#" to "A,p,B,2,C#"
It no longer gives the "I'm sorry" error and works great for outgoing calls
I'll add it to the OP too to make it easier in the future, I thought that it was just me.

This is nice...
I just installed in my vogue, and all work as well.
Camera work fine, with the setting pop-up when i touch the icon, except for zoom function, if i touch it, camera would stop.
With task killer, i see 2 running services that usually not show up in other build.
"android keyboard" and "pl.magot.vet..."
does it took a lot of memory ?
it won't close at all..
EDIT : it's ancal process, can i uninstall it as well as GPS test, because my vogue doesnt have GPS.
Hope would be more performance improvement with next release, and might be some black theme as default...
Btw, eclair + no data plan and app replacement would be nice to have.
Thank you th3lolz for this build,
i think i will keep it run it my vogue untill there's a new release with more light build.
Here's another one, while the screen locked, signal bar would present the actual signal of the phone, when you unlocked it, the signal bar would drop, but looks like it doesnt effect when i making a call.
Is there a way to get Incubus26Jc's Darkstar theme without having to install the his androidinstall.tar? They have all the other theme's androidupdate, but none for the ROM's theme. >.<

You could try to unpack the androidupdate.tar and your android ROM you like, find the different, do some adjustment script, and repackage it again. I think you could use some different theme for your android....

Yes, i already try all the android from all dev;
all incubus android, all myn's android, also dzo and Kallt_Kaffe, and i prefer to choose your build for my daily use.
With incubus' build, it also happen, and all things more slower then your build, and i prefer to choose not using rogue tools for more battery life.
With your build there's no need to use rogue tools.
And more clean from unused apps and more responsive when i push some button ( -menu, dialer, home, etc ... )
Sorry if i ask you too much...
and thanks for your support...
I installed it, it did great, I restored everything from Titanium, rebooted, and now it will never stop booting. Just doing the HTC with the green indicator "with HTC Sense" on the bottom, and it's doing it for 30 minutes. I brought it into recovery and wiped the cache, and the Dalvik, still the same. I cant get it to a home screen to try laying another rom over it. Any ideas?

All I know of is aosp's asopcmmod or cm nightly. There was probably something in titanium backup that messed it up, you can restore most of your downloaded apps, just keep away from restoring any system apps or associated data.

ntsense is what kifno originaly copied anyway, and it was much better before he screwed everything up.
I'm told the "tweak" wasn't included in this rom. However, I'm frowning upon this thread because it is promoting a rom that is no longer supported and a rom that is one of the biggest KANGS ever!
People, stop using Rocksteady!
Ok, I installed the last stable Cyanogen 7.0.3. It works fine, but its force closing messages. I checked the cache, and its clean. Now it will bring up the list of all contacts in the msg screen, but once I choose a contact, it force closes trying to open the msg log for that contact.

Would the fact that this distribution is for a Sprint phone, but mine is an Ntelos? As far as i know Ntelos is pretty much a clone of Sprint, and is a parent company in a few ways over Ntelos.
