Enter bootloader, although it's obviously bricked? - HTC Breeze

Hello there,
I messed up my just acquired used HTC Breeze. Isn't too bad, as it wasn't so expensive and it had SIM lock anyway. So hadn't I done anything, then I wouldn't have been able to used it as well.
My question: The info 2 - command returned "HTCSF kEØ(HTCE", so as far as I understand the bootloader has been bricked. But why can I still get to the three-color-screen? I always thought, this is only possible, if the bootloader is not bricked. I'm very sure I read about that regarding a HTC Canary.Or isn't that the case anymore with never devices?
In case anyone's interested, the whole story:
I tried the Hermes unlocker-method, but couldn't get it to work. The first problem was, that SSPL didn't work, because my phone was app-locked. Well removing the app-lock wasn't that hard.
I eventually managed to find out, how exactly this SSPL-stuff works. However, I still couldn't use the Hermes-unlocker. Flashing with SD-card wouldn't work - and using the RUU would only cause the phone to reboot, hence leaving the SPPL and being stuck with the normal bootloader, which wasn't unlocked (sorry if that sounded too untechnical - you probably know, what I mean).
So my last hope was the thread "Application UNLOCK/SSPL/HARDSPL" . First I upgraded to SPL 1.09 (might have been a bad choice, as I didn't think it through). Phone would still work then. Then I tried RUU_MTeoR_1.34.251.1_1.38.00.10_HTCEUR_SHIP , which is where I probably broke my bootloader, as it wouldn't start the OS after successfully flashing. (although it was IPL 1.00 and SPL 1.09, if I remember correctly).
Then I flashed RUU_BREE100_1.13.251.2_1.06.00.10_QtekEUR_Ship_R3 via SD-Card, cause it's said to have SPL 2.05. With that I wanted to do the final step in the said posting - flashing hardspl, so that I'd get SPL 7.77 anytime, without SSPL. I thought, the Hermes unlocker might work then. Only it was a dead end. After flashing to RUU_BREE100_1.13.251.2_1.06.00.10_QtekEUR_Ship_R3, I couldn't get anything to work anymore. And now I'm stuck with IPL 0.90 and SPL 1.09. End of the Story

If you can see three color screen (bootloader) that's mean it's ok Try flash with shipped ROM from the bootloader mode. I can upload it to you, but I have to know your device brand (CID lock)...

Cannot Flash Original Rom

First off, anyone on this forum who has contributed anything, I am have the deepest respect for, and my favorites will get donations as soon as I have money. Ok enough a$$ kissing.
So here is my problem:
I flashed it's right's TNT 6.1 19919 after hardspling. After many problems, like pseudo-hard resetting (turning off, losing all but 6% battery, and changing the date back to what it was originally i.e. 1/27/06) while in a phone call and doing the same while using the wifi, i hard reset and still the same problems occurred. so I undid the hardspl, so now i am back to 2.25.001 in the bootloader but when i connect it to the computer (winxp) to flash the original rom (cingular 2.25) it freezes at 91%. If anyone has had this problem occur or knows the solution as to get ANY rom back on it, IT would be greatly appreciated.
Also after doing some reading I tried to flash wizard love 2.26 to it and that freezes at about 50-60%. so I am stuck and it is really annoying.
Full 8 hour charge, restart computer, different usb port. Same happens: Error 302 Update Error
Hum... maybe when you reCID locked it, you put a CID that's not for that official ROM you're trying to flash. The misbehavior of the phone is due to the ROM you had, not the CID Unlock. If I'm not mistaken, you can hardSPL it again, from bootloader. Then you can try and flash any other ROM you wish. Give my ROM (WM5SE rev5 - if your phone can handle 240MHz - or rev4) a go, after you have CID Unlocked your phone.
My phone can take up to 273 but, all the roms i flashed were g4 safe.... because the ipl spl never changed and i checked them in shell tool . it gives me a update error 302 which wizard love documentation says that the "phone needs a new rom code" which implies that it needs to be taken to cingular, and i dont think i can lie that well. how would one "accidentally" put their phone into bootloader?

You have posted present IPL/SPL 2.25.001,is it 2.25.001 or .0001 ?
As you removed 'HardSPL',did you reflash the appropriate IPL/SPL regarding your phones official bootloader IPL/SPL...?
You shud do the 'HardSPL' again and either do the removal of HardSPL again correctly as instructed in the sticky ' How to remove HardSPL' or Flash any other Rom to recover.
Cheers!
no it was 2.25.001 just a typo. i think i will try these suggestions when i get home and i will post my findings.

8125 bootloader stuck

ok, im inbetween a newb and a full out destructive force to any type of moddable device and im having a little bit of trouble with my cingular 8125. ive had this phone for a few months and i am having the hardest time dealing with the rom on the phone now. ill give a quick breifing on it:
got it with original cingular rom, not sure what spl or ipl on it but the first thing i did was unlock it by myself, cid and sim unlocked, and then updated to a jaguar wm 6.1 rom which worked fine. decided i was going to unfortunately sell this phone so i decided to upgrade it one more time to see if i really wanted to sell it, i then bought the upgrade to go past my 2.21 ipl and spl. i got my unlocker and followed my instructions and got a brick. but not a full brick. its stuck in the bootloader screen. after reading countless threads, i learned that i should be able to just still update a rom to the phone with no problems which actually works, but as soon as a rom completes it goes right back to my bootloader screen so help me! please cuz now thats its a challenge again, i want the phone! plus all my info is on the phone still back up
Flash the official stock ROM first, then use Button's ROM to downgrade your IPL and SPL before unlocking CID.
post the present IPL/SPL it displays now.Which rom you are trying to flash now ?
ok when i try to put the most current 8125 rom on my phone (2.25.blah) it tells me that its not the same phone which is weird but thats preventing me from putting the original rom on the phone. however if i try and put the buton rom on the phone now, it will go through completely and say it put it on the phone, but when it restart, its right back to the bootload screen...
and im running IPL 2.21.0001 and SPL 2.21 with a previous installation of a jaguar rom, dont know exactly which one, but i know it was a jaguar rom. but right before i tried to upgrade the updater, i went back to my default WM5 rom so i guess it was te basic 2.21 rom on the phone with WM5

WEIRD !
You got mixed Bootloaders of G3 And G4,IPL 2.21.0001 is G4 and SPL 2.21 is G3,as you posted, well, can't say which was original, only you can tell, but some how its mixed Bootloaders,in this situation no Rom will flash, its a 'Brick'.
If as Zabardast says its bricked then you have three options:
1. Get a new Wizard
2. Get a new Wizard Motherboard
3. Get a Wizard with broken LCD from eBay and replace its LCD with your current one and Enjoy!!! (Cheapest)
lol this is tough! but no worries, ill be back with some other pda at some point and time and then ill try and take this phone apart! but the weird thing about my wizard is that this only happened when i tried to update the phone with the CID unlock program that you have to pay for!
lol it was perfectly fine until i tried to do it! oh well, back to my crappy p168!
May be that CID Unlock program was not meant to be for a G3 and you were updating a G3 so it mixed you IPL/SPL and caused a kinda BRICK. So please be careful before doing flashing things because if you dont be carefull then your PPC may become a heavy paper weight, and a costy one too. LOL. TC

Cingular 8125 problems
Ok guys i am really pissed i have been looking for three days and cant find it, first off my IPL is at 1.01 and the SPL is at 2.25 and i cant fix it i wanted to install the original 2.25 again and start from scratch but can not find the damn thing so if anyone has it can u just upload it fo me and give me a link that i can get it at please i am sick and tired of waitnin i really like this phone and i dont want to risk bricking it thanks.
Ok, grimgod, aggression is reaaaallly ugly and no freakin one will help with that sh!t attitude (pardon the language, mods). The senior members do everything they can to help the noobs. Have you tried reading the flashing guide, wiki, or tutorial? I'd bet even money you haven't. Have you CID unlocked? Did you flash the button rom twice ( as the guide suggested to get ipl/spl both 2.xx)? Did you flash the official tmo rom (found im the flashing guide)? Have you done anything other than sit on your hands and wait for it to be handed to you? READ AND SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831 <HERE!!!!!!!!!! Should I flash your device, too?
Similar issue... need some Wizard Expertise
I picked up a coworkers old Cingular 8125 that he'd had in a drawer for about a year. Battery was right dead so the phone wouldn't boot. I charged the battery on an external charger for a few minutes, put it back into the phone, and plugged it in to the charger until the LED went green indicating a full charge.
When I power up I see the T-Mobile splash screen (light gray background, some square dots, and the "T-Mobile" logo). And there it stays indefinitely.
Tried a hard reset (Comm Mgr + Voice Cmd + Soft Reset), and it said "Press Send to restore factory default". Pressed the green dialer key (I assume that's send), and it says Format FAT partition, FAT partition complete, and then returns to the same T-Mobile splash screen and hangs there.
So then I tried putting it into Boot Loader manually (Power On + Camera). No problem, shows IPL 2.26 and SPL 2.26. Plug it into the computer USB port (running XP Pro), and then the USB connection shows on the phone. Attempted to flash the Wizard Love ROM to get this thing back to square-one. Error 260. Attempted to flash the T-Mobile stock ROM. Error 260.
Between each flash attempt, I'm pulling the battery out and starting fresh. I think I've followed all the steps I'm finding in multiple threads. But for some reason I'm not able to get this thing to communicate via USB. All RUU's give an Error 260. Am I missing something?
Forgot to mention I'm following the steps outlined in this thread from Dr P. To the letter!
Also did a little reading up on using the MTTY method in this thread by Drug_Store. Thought maybe the existing ROM might be intact, and I might be able get it to a 256MB MiniSD, then write the backup ROM from SD in boot loader. Well, for some reason I don't even see the USB connection option when I use the MTTY - can't ever get to a point where I can issue commands. Again, I think I'm following the instruction. But still no juice.
Nudge, nudge. I'd donate for a solution that works... otherwise I have to keep letting my 10 year old play The Quest on my phone.

Unable to flash

Hi,
I've recently upgraded to the latest radio ROM, no problems there (but it did cause a hard-reset). Now I'm trying to flash FInixNOver's latest ROM. The problem: I run ROMUpdateUtility, the device enteres bootloader mode and... nothing! No flashing, no errors, no nothing. The upgrade fails and I'm stuck in bootloader mode. The weird thing is... soft reset works and I can boot the (already installed) ROM just fine.
Any ideas...?
Thanks!
In which phase are you stuck? some bootloaders leave my trinity with the screen with the colored bands, and then refuse to continue. I launch them again (with some anxiety) and everything continues correctly. I had this probably 20 times and never a problem - but i don't understand why. It is probably a timing matter....
I'm stuck in the three-colour screen. A soft reset boots up the device properly, but it does not flash. However, I've successfully managed to flash by using the SD card method.
i always get stuck, as i was saying, in the three color screen. The windows bootloader complains it cannot continue, i simply relaunch the windows bootloader without doing anything on the trinity. Actually, i doubt it has some relation with the bepe's kitchen, since it didn't happen with NetDrg french rom....but i have exactly the same problem with the present (great) tnyynt roms...good anyway you had solved your problem somehow. it also could depend on the Hard-SPL version you are using.
Yeah, I thought the SPL could be the cause.
However, knowing that the SD card method works is reassuring.
Thanks.
my hard-spl comes from olipro:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299659
Regards,
I had the exact same issue, i re-installed my Olipro Hard SPL v3.2 (if you are running a 3600i be sure to get the specific version).
Tried flash once again, all was fine!
Other thought, it has happened to me, when it is in the bootloader, tri-colour, just run the upgrade again. i had that with some ROMs.
I tried that many times, it didn't work.
Thanks for the reply, though.

'No GSM' after numerous radio version flashes

I tripped over my usb cable while flashing an official orange rom + radio version a few months ago, and bricked my trinity. Left it on a shelf for ages & decided to try to revive it a few days ago.
The problem was that the thing kept hanging after the splash screen, all the backlights would go on and it would hang. I managed to splxploit it to get hardspl back on there (olipro 1.3) & successfully flashed a few OS roms from here but it still hung on the (now different) splash screen. Realised that the 'No GSM' thing was a killer, so tried reflashing a few radio versions, and that worked fine as far as the flash was concerned through USB / HSPL.
However, it still says 'No GSM' and hangs at boot. Any ideas? I've run all the tasks from mtty with spl-1.30lipro, the CID shows the HTC SuperCID(hex) etc successfuly, and it formats the OS portion successfuly. Task 2a, like with others, just returns a new prompt after a second or so.
I've got radio 1.56.70.11 on there apparently. It still says 'No GSM', although this goes away a lot quicker now, whereas before it would hang with that on the screen...
Help?? Should I throw it in the bin?
Thanks a lot, any help is much appreciated...
Nik
you've killed the radio BL in that case, bad timing on your part, sadly it's unrecoverable.
the only fix is desoldering the radio chip and soldering a new one in.
Have you tried whith the version 1.20? The version 1.30 gives some trouble flashing the radio
same problem...no way for me in this moment!
do you solve?
flash with hard-spl 1.20 ou crash'n'proof... then try again... it works with me

Definately, don't throw it away. It's still worth $$$. A lot of people can use it for parts if you don't get it working. Offer it up for sale on here if that's the case.

hi you know radio bl? any schematic to know.. im curios whats does it look like,?

I can't tell if I have successfully Hard SPL'ed

Hi
I am having some problems when trying to upgrade my Orange SPV M700 to Hard SPL. I have followed the instructions given in "TrinityGuides.info" but I am not convinced the Hard SPL has actually worked okay. This is what happens:
1) I follow the initial instructions (run ROMUpdateUtility.exe) and click on the various screens ("I understand" "I completed") etc
2) I get to the point where the screen says "You are now ready to update your ROM image. This operation takes approximately 10 minutes"
3) I then click on "Next", the progress bar screen appears and I get the message on my SPV about running programs - I select 'yes' on the SPV.
4) Immediately I hear the Windows XP 'dum-dum' noise letting me know that a USB device has been disconnected. Also my ActiveSync is gone. I have not done anything to cause this though - the connection just goes down.
5) I then get a message telling me that the device is not connected and I have to exit the Hard SPL routine.
6) After reading the FAQs on TrinityGuides.info I re-run the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" and get to the progress bar screen again. This time I see the grey screen on the SPV, with progress bar rapidly completing on both the SPV and my Desktop screen progress bar.
7) After literally a few seconds I get a screen telling me "Congratulations! Your ROM update is now complete etc"
Even though I see the congratulations message I am not convinced it has successfully installed Hard SPL.
Firstly, whereas the messages suggest it can take up to ten minutes to do the Hard SPL mine only takes a few seconds. Secondly, when I follow the TrinityGuides.info instructions on how to check the Hard SPL (by pressing power, camera and soft reset) I see this:
On my tri-colour screen this is displayed:
IPL-0.50
SPL 1.07.0000
The "TrinityGuides.info" instructions say that I should see this:
TRIN100
IPL-0.50 (your device may show IPL-1.00)
TRIN100 MFG
SPL-1.20.Olipro
I have tried both the "Hard SPL 1.20.Olipro" and "Des' Crash-Proof SPL" but nothing makes any difference to the display I see.
Can anyone help me? I am concerned that if I don't have the Hard SPL correctly installed I am going to risk bricking my SPV if I try upgrading the ROM, unlocking the SIM etc (which is what I want to do). Is there any other way I can tell whether Hard SPL is installed correctly?
Thanks in anticipation!
Spivvy
If i remember correctly hard SPL is a quick process, it's the ROM flashing that takes ten minutes or so. As to why it's not working i can't offer any help, sorry.
Hi DeeDee
Thanks for taking the time to reply. If, as you say, the Hard SPL does happen very quickly (in my case it seems a second or so) then that's good to hear as I was sure something had gone wrong.
Does anyone know if what I see on my tri-colour screen is correct? (i.e. IPL-0.50, SPL 1.07.0000) as before I proceed with any more drastic updates I'd like to make sure my SPV is protected against bricking.
Thanks again
Spivvy
UPDATE.....
I spotted this person's solution to what seemed to be a similar problem to mine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382246&highlight=ActiveSync+disconnects
I decided to try his fix. I used Olipro 1.20 Hard SPL.
The Hard SPL procedure did continue in a more convincing manner than my previous attempts, and the progress bar took a bit longer to complete, and I also received a message telling me that the operation was successful. I then did a soft reset and felt that maybe this time it had worked.
In a rare moment of feverish optimism I pressed the buttons to check the SPL version now on my Orange SPV (power, camera and soft reset). However, it is still telling me this:
IPL-0.50
SPL 1.07.0000
i.e. nothing seems to have changed. No sign of Olipro's SPL again.
In a word, I am flummoxed.
In two words, I am very flummoxed.
So, I am still putting out an appeal to you clever bods as to how I establish if I have a safe Hard SPL on my Orange SPV, or is it still looking a bit iffy (a technical term for "not very good")
Thanks
Spivvy
i am seeing the latter version with OliPro SPL, OK it's v1.2 but it's still different from yours.
Are you trying this on Vista or XP, personally i have always used XP for flashing. Whether that's going to make any difference i don't know.
I have a question along similar lines, although not identical. I'm completely unable to get from the triband screen to the bootloader screen. I'm trying to flash from my mini-SD card, but one it gets into that SSPL triband screen, it doesn't do a thing. I'm running vista on my PC, and can't seem to get any useful action trying to flash from there. Getting a little frustrated, cause I haven't even been able to SIM unlock my phone so far... Considering going the IMEI route, although that won't do anything for bootloader and upgrapding ROM later on... Any advice, or should I just use IMEI and go the easy way?
Dan
Hi DeeDee
I am using Windows XP, which I think is the preferred OS for this type of operation. Very puzzling.
Thanks
Spivvy
Hmmmm.....
It's looking like I am not going to resolve this problem as no one has posted an actual solution. I am not sure what to do now - my gut feeling is that my SPV M700 has not been Hard SPLed (based on what it displays as described earlier).
All I know is that I have followed the TrinityGuides instructions (and other postings with information about this type of thing) accurately. I have done it several times (using both Olipro 1.2 and Des Crash Proof) - but, for some inexplicable reason, my SPV M700 would appear to refuse to accept the Hard SPL.
As no one has said otherwise I have to assume that the tri-colour screen information I see in bootloader mode does mean that I have not successfully SPLed?
I can't understand why some (in fact most) people seem to get the Hard SPL flashing performed okay and yet mine refuses. I know from searching the postings that there are a few unlucky souls like me who have not been able to do it successfully.
If anyone does have any suggestions I really would be grateful to hear them, but for now it looks like I have drawn a blank. Pity.
I have run out of ideas - could it be some other program I have installed is interferring with the process? Is it my version of ActiveSync (4.5.0)? Is it some setting I have got on the SPV M700 that is preventing the Hard SPL? There surely has to be a reason why the Hard SPL is not working?
Still hanging on, hoping that some shaft of light might shine on my SPV M700 one day...
Ho hum...

Hey u are not alone, my Trinity ( Dopod D810 variant ) just simply refuses to flash to any hard spl as well, same problem as yours, i am using windows xp to flash so i doubt its the driver problem.
I found a solution to this problem though, i use SSPL to flash cooked rom to my device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
Just paste the .exe onto your trinity and open it using file explorer, it should enter bootloader with a "by des" behind the bootloader number, it should be safe to flash then.
I tested flashing WM 6.5 by savesaint, Finix's 6.1 with no problem
ADDons: Anyway the reason i suspect is because my one has been flashed with HTC P3600 rom, yes, by HTC without dopod branding, hence the problem
Hi there - thanks for that tip. I will try that link you suggested, and have a go with the file. I'll get back to let you know how it all went.
Many thanks for taking the time to post your suggestion.
Cheers

Hi
I thought I would report back as to the progress (or lack of it) regarding the failure to Hard SPL my Orange SPV-M700. There's not much to report I'm afraid, which may be largely to do with my lack of confidence etc.
I checked out the link suggested above by "/b/-TarD" (using SSPL to flash cooked rom to device - as described at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
However, when I read the various posts and experiences I still felt that this might not be the solution I was looking for. I am not very technical with all this ROM flashing but the original Hard SPL method seemed to me to give me some insurance against bricking my SPV-M700. This SSPL does not seem to leave you with a Hard SPLed device (I am not exactly sure what it does to be honest), and in fact some people seem to have had quite difficult problems after using it.
Call me a cowardly old geezer but I have backed away from trying the suggested solution at the moment (but still very grateful to user "/b/-TarD" for his suggestion).
My aim was to:
1) Get the basic HARD SPL on my SPV-M700 - Olipro or Des, but having followed all the Trinity guides faithfully, it would appear that my device doesn't wanna play ball with me — very frustrating.
2) Re-instate/upgrade the GPS radio thingy (which I believe you lose after you Hard SPL)
3) Unlock my Orange SPV-M700 so that I can use any SIM card in it
4) Then, finally, consider upgrading the ROM to one of the newer WM6 versions, or a better WM5 version.
But, at the moment, it would seem that it's not to be.
Ho hum....
