The Best Rhodium Rom - Rating system - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi all.
I wondered if we could start some sort of Rating system for the Cooked ROMs out there for who's got the fastest most stable ROM to date.
It is almost impossible to keep track and flash continuously to all the ROMs and ROM updates that chefs provide, only to find out that some bugs are still active or the ROM you already had was actually better and you have to start deploying the whole lot again, customize, apply cabs etc. and unless you have that ROM disorder, it's tough.
And yes, don't give me any old story about all ROMs are equal, because they are not, I tried almost all of the ROMs on my TYTN II, and Alex, Dutty were great chefs on 6.1, but along came sleuth255 and created a champion ROM, the fastest most stable ROM I have ever had and several times I had to go back to that after upgrading to older builds of 6.5 until TPC produced a really good 6.5 ROM, that worked well after a bit of tweaking.
So my point is, could have a sticky tracking the best, fastest and most stable ROMs out there? Maybe we could have different categories like light and full ROMs, maybe it is a particular combination of a Radio ROM and Some other ROM. Maybe this can be a sticky to highlight the best a stable ROMs, maybe it could be a Wiki entry.
I also think it could help new and less experienced chefs to use the kitchens of those ROMs that are declared the best and thus get an even higher quality and even improve a great ROM to be world class.
well, it's an idea, like it or not - maybe it's already been suggested, if so well maybe that's the trigger that I we are onto something

As stated many times before there is no such "best ROM"
What is best for me could not be for you.
You can add a poll to your post and let´s see what members think, but this is like discussing about politics or soccer, who is the best team or best president?
You´ll never get any concrete results.

[Q] Cooked roms v shipped roms

'I am a flasher and proud of it!' oops that it wasn't meant to come out like that.
I have always flashed my HTC devices with cooked roms, the reason is the great chefs iron out bugs that the official HTC devs maybe didn't have time (or the ability?) to do. This makes them generally more stable and faster, however i have never been with a device at the beginning, meaning when the cooking first starts.
So far with the HD i have been underwhelmed by the current crop of cooked roms, this considering we have such amazing chefs on here such as Dutty and Laurentius to name 2. I have found all of them unstable slow and unresponsive so much so that i have re-flashed the shipped rom.
i want to know is this just because we are at the beginning with this device or is it that maybe it was an optimised rom in the first place?
I don't want to insult any of the chefs, these are the very people who have sorted and made so many of my phones fantastic. Furthermore i have nothing but respect for anyone willing to share their work with a stranger, this is a genuinely honest question.
have you tried all the ROMs available
i had the same impressions as you about stability
or my phone just did not like them
but then i tried "a Touch of HD" by kwbr
awesome clean fast and stable ROM,
it doesn't need to be updated every few days because of bugs,
because it doesn't throw everything in (a ton of 3rd party apps), but it's also NOT anemic (very close to stock).
anyway i'm happy but the point is maybe try a few other ROMs
to find the one that suits you and your phone

i will try that rom next time i have time to re flash. The main problem i have and i'm sure many other people have is my phone is a busy phone and i just don't have the time to keep trying roms. Your advice is good specific advice which is hard to find when sifting through massive rom threads!
A question, do you think that the cooked roms have improved the performance of the HD?

I am very critical mate and I felt the same tried most which I found better than the shipped ROM I had from Orange for various reasons but speed seemed average until I tried Davideuck V3 - it feels so darn responsive I thought I had a new phone! Of course that is my view and others may say different but hey.
Hard reset after flashing (woops that can sound a little dodgy too depends how twisted your mind is...)

I tried that rom and found it a little sluggish, ie missed calls because of lack of responsiveness, i also had trouble installing Igo8. That rom is was the first that made me think the cooked roms where getting somewhere but then it still felt too buggy?
I need it to be stable.

Im still using duttys 1.5, before that tried few but i found this most stable and fast. I wouldnt swap back to stock anymore.
So faaast this is :> waiting 1.8 version to come if theres some new shiny things. 1.6 and 1.7 werent so high priority so didnt update to those.

My first cooked rom was Duttys 1.7 and i found it no faster, more buggy and less stable than my original rom.
Have flashed touch of HD this morning and really hope that i can tell the difference. SO far i am still not convinced!

I respect your point of view but, from my point of view I can't think that there's no difference between cooked and shipped roms. Before starting to cook my rom, I've tried the dutty one too, and the difference with the official one is consistent. And I think this is the same for all cooked roms here. Obviusly some are much stable, others not, but you can simply try them and chose the best for you.
After this, excuse me, but what version of IGO8 are you using??
I've IGO v8.3.2.64029 and works perfect on mine device, and I think I'm not the only one, other people have wrote that IGO runs well on mine rom.
Then, you could simply post in my thread and even you would have gotten useful suggestions

Sorry mate, i agree with you totaly should have posted this on your thread and will do now. I did think your rom was the best i'd tried actually, really liked the look of the rom as well. I have IGO8 8.1 something something. It wouldn't install, it started then just ended. I had this problem on another rom as well.
My point is that hte cooked roms are good, and some i've tried like yours are very good. Just i've noticed in alot of the cooked roms have issues with stability, sluggishness unresponsiveness etc which were't in the shipped rom.
My feeling on it are that the shipped rom was a pretty good starting point and unlike (for example) the Kaiser, the HD as an End user device is pretty much there (video isuues beside).
Just to reiterate this isnt in any way an insult to any of the cooks that grace XDA devs. You really are doing superb stuff!!
Always remember to hard reset after flashing, that could have some effect.
No idea how you cant see it but every game, touchflo, movies work waay better with proper custom roms like duttys and laurentius.
Couldnt watch some movies properly before flashing now every movie and video clip work smooth and not dropping frames or lagging sound.
I must admit that flashing cooked rom for Diamond seem to have more advancement in feature/speed/stability compared to the HD at this moment.
I'm currently flashing HD back to the stock rom from Dutty's 1.7. Dutty's rom wasn't bad, just it seems that the stock rom isn't shabby enough to make the change as of today.

You may be forgetting something important.. The Diamond has less memory to start with in the first place, so making a cleaner ROM for it can fix this problem by removing unimportant stuff. As for the HD, if I get 30-something percent of occupied memory when it WM is fully loaded - there's much less to be fixed...
At first with the Kaiser, the cooked roms were only a small improvement on the stock. But over time they just kept getting better and better as more problems were solved and more features added.
The HD is still quite new, but some great features like Flash in IE & opera, are starting to make a big difference between the stock & cooked roms.
I'm sure with more time the cooked roms will get incrementally better an better.
Shame a chef can't cook in a hardware keyboard for the HD!

Yeah the HD is really new, the cooks and helpers are often getting ideas and apps from the Diamond forum. We'll catch up in time.
Cooking a hard keyboard into the ROM would be nice, but it sounds like black magic cooking!

This is what i really wanted to know, i didn't get the kaiser until it had been out for 4-5 months.
I have been using the touch of HD rom for the last couple of days, it does seem smoother and is definatly stable. Got some time now so will put it through its paces.

my experience: with the trinity and the wizard, the limitations of the hardware were so stringent (ROM, CPU, drivers, GPS!) that tuning introduced very significant improvements. For example, my stock ROM was hiding the GPS, that appeared through cooked ROMs!!!!
The touch HD has a much more mature hardware, and it is born with the same windows mobile version we are all using. So, it is not surprising that available cooked rom, few months after its commercial release, are not so different in performances from the stock rom. In particular, REMOVING applications has a much less effect on the touch HD, since finally memory is not on the critical path...
Said this, i do feel that some cooked roms are faster than others, and some other ROMs are better tweaked but essentially stock roms. I can speak about my ROM: I changed the theme and tuned some settings, but it is essentially a stock ROM (latest release, but stock touch HD ROM). Other cooks have been able to introduce and experiment new features (drivers, pagepool) and, in my opinion, did a visible job in improving the basic performances. In this moment, i have to admit i am happily running DavideUck V3 and i have no problem in recognizing it is faster than the stock ROM 1.14 delivered with my HD.
Concerning stability, i have absolutely no issues with it. And yes - don't confuse radio roms with OS: radio ROM do introduce visible benefits also - but they are never cooked YET...
well i think all the chefs try and out do each other to a degree. (i mean no disrespect and some competition is good keeps them on there feet) they all want to cook the latest apps, radios and o/s builds and release first this means that they dont always get tested as well as they used to (hence slow buggy etc as theve being rushed and released for the hell of it). I and others had all these problems with the athena at the begining the 1st cooked rom for the device had obvious bugs like no sms ability or no incoming calls. and this was from a respected member of this community. i know excitement gets the better of all of us and id rather have some crap roms than no choice at all but with the current hardware i think its best to cook your own roms with a known stable rom as the base and cook in what you need or taken progs out.
Saying that ive not got around to cooking yet, I'm too lazy, but deffo ther best way forward
TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH
Cooking your own rom is indeed advantageous but i really haven't got the time. The chefs know what to take out and what to leave from experience learned over time i guess.
I do agree there is a tendancy to upload cooked roms before testing which i suppose is the point, let the people test and suggest! What we need is a thread which post 'finished' or 'perfected' rom series's then score each on multimedia, business, lite, heavy, speedy, stable etc, people who've used the roms can then mark each point out of 5. This will give a better picture of what each rom is about.
It can be an absolute night mare sifting through rom threads to get a flavour of the rom.
There is a 'rom of the month thread' which is irrelevant for many as it depends on what you like on your rom, says nothing for the roms specifics and character.
Might look into creating such a beast, any points you think should a rom should be marked on maybe you could list?
Hope this made sense

My translation: (sorry for my poor English)
I personally feel that the publication of Roms is trap in a strange circle, anyone notice?
Now new roms are flooded in the forum. Every time there is a new build, all cookers are working hard with the new build rom and then publicize it. Then People flash the new rom. After the freshness of the new Rom is gone, bugs are the offspring. However, a newer rom is out, then People do it again until the next more newer rom, and then on and on.
What is the meaning of getting the new rom? Is there any significant improve between a earlier and later build?
I believe that a really cooker should focus on one build, such as the Chinese Simple Build 20769, until a perfect rom is born. But not translate the rom into Chinese and add some new features then rush to publicize the so called product, which cause the old bugs are not solved but new bugs keep coming out.
What impress people is the perfectly perfect, not the newest.
to be honest, i don't think cookers just rush to the newer build. i have tried many ROMs and see many cookers struggling with fixing bugs like miri, onkolog, duttys, they all try to fix all the bugs they can. but most of these bugs has to do with manila or MS, so its out of their hand.
IMO, i don't think perfectly perfect is what i want, cuz i will get bored with perfectly perfect. i like a mix of decently perfect and newest
I agree with some of the stuff. The choice of which ROM you wish to flash is entirely up to you. If you're even slightly interested in picking a good ROM, then surely you know that installing the latest "state-of-the-art" ROM unavoidably includes some compromises (read: Bugs. Bunch of them. Bugsville!).
The biggest step forward in Blackstone ROM's have been Dutty 1.8. After that we have had 1.9, and then a whole flood of latest Topaz and Rhodium ROMs. That first one was a bug fest, but the second version was already close to perfection. The third was even better.
In terms of "freshness" these are now not new ROMs, but the advantage over the latest ones are:
- bugs have been brought to minimum
- any possible issues have been covered in length
- workarounds, hacks and stuff like that is usually also available in detail
So, to say that chefs should stick to just one ROM is silly. You're fighting progress here, and in a scene such as XDA expecting chefs to stick with just one ROM and polish it to perfection is not very realistic.
Chefs do what they do. They cook up stuff and offer it to the community. The community then tastes the new stuff, tears it apart to bits an pieces, usually finds ways to improve it, and then the cycle starts over.
It's just how it is.
If you want reliability, pick a ROM that's say 1-2 months old. Or even better - stick with the default one.
Good point but...
I have found a perfect rom... and every time the cooker comes out with an other new it is even better and nicer... It's the theme I'm facing to follow the upgrades as it's becoming more an more nicer in temes of icons splash screens etc...
So for me is ok when they go ahead.
If you don't like to flash all the time... just have a look for your perfect rom and stay with it...
Have a nice day
Roman
..nobody is obliged in flashing the newest ROM with the latest arrivals! a new ROM is simply an offer, it is up to you to decide your own policy. Some cooks go for reliability and bugs fixing, some cooks for the latest features: the same should be for users. While HTC has to support all users independently of their knowlegde (and in this respect Apple does a much better job...they are even able to support dummies and old ladies! ), i assume that people navigating here is an intelligent and aware user, capable of picking up what's best for him, based on the feedback of the other people.
In my opinion, the Cooked ROMs are Waaaaaaaaaaaay better in stability, performance and have much better features integrated than the Stock ROMs. So, if not for this community and the Cooked ROMs, I would be changing devices instead of the ROMs. So, I am happy (stike that) rather glad to be using Cooked ROMs and testing them.
It' a game. And I hope for all of us that nobody is really addicted to flash again and again.
So, I can only speak for myself and I am old enough to know what I do and why I flash a new version of my rom. I have reasons for and flash not every versions. I check before if it has improvements for me and only flash it in this case, then check it and when it has fewer issues, I let it stay.
But you are right, some comments in the forum are strange and it seems to be, that some users here flash only because there is a "newer" rom. Most of them doesn't know exectly what they are doing and when something goes wrong (in most of the cases) they overflow the forum whith their questions.
1. for me it's that the stock rom is filled with buggs, but tweakable.
2. I try cooked roms with some bugs, better tweaked.
3. with their updates less bugs, max tweaked.
4. one day you find your perfect rom without any bugs, maximum speed & satisfaction.
5. but I'm getting bored.
6. so I'm getting interested in new stuff (at the moment it's windows 6.5, new manila) and I find myself in flashing new roms with bugs.
7. goto 1.
well, it's just fun
No offence but is it absolutely necassary to start a new thread for every little thing that comes to mind?
What we have to remember here is the cooks and developers that are bringing us custom ROM's do it because they realize the short-fall of official ROM's and possibly they enjoy it, plus there's always hope of reward.
If you think you can do a better job then stop criticizing put on your Apron and start cooking, believe me its not as easy as it looks, at least not so easy to solve bugs, the process is very time consuming.

I am now with Dutty's 1.7 which is the stablest one before all the topaz/rhodium ROMs.
I've tried Dutty's 2.1 and had a lot of bugs, I've tried L26 v.8 and v.9 but still to many bugs (espcially with camera and album rotation).
for my experince i think the topaz is more stable. I like the new contact manager and new dialer and some others like the calculator and Calendar tab.
I don't like the new rhodium program menu since HTC coverd all tracks of WM (for better or for worse)
Please advise me which ROM (that has the features that I've mentioned) is the most stable and bug free...(best if you mention versions from Dutty, L26, Daviduek or other known cookers). best if as close to a stable HTC diamond 2/pro2 that is out there already.
I think the perfect rom is a myth and doesn't exist. Tweaks and fixes will always need to be applied to roms. I don't think cookers will rush to newer builds. I have tried many ROMs and seen many cookers struggling with fixing bugs. No cooker wants their rom full of bugs. Why would they? No one would use their rom! They all try to fix all the bugs they can, but most of these bugs has to do with manila or MS, so its out of their hands.
If we had the perfect rom, would we not get bored? Isn't it the tweaking and fixing that we are addicted to?
The choice of which ROM you wish to flash is entirely up to you. Everyone whats the latest, the newest. Its part of human culture. But with new comes the unknown, i.e. unknown bugs. As Rozenthal said, their is a compromise!
Dutty has released countless new versions to his Rhodium rom to solve bugs and because of this bugs have been brought to minimum.
I tryed only 3 cooked rom for HD, because reading the opinions of people that try it before me, I have learned that this 3 were without problems. I haven't yet tryed one with manila V3 because I'm waiting one that works well and because I use PDA and want phone that in the need moment not crashs or has some bugs. So, who use phone every day I think that he uses a rom without bugs, who has more time to spend can also try new roms and reports bugs.
I totaly agree with the originator of this blog.
I've tried roms from dutty, hellonasty, lavrentius, davideuck, maglite (russian guy), neos2007. And I noticed that the roms that I liked the most were developed from the shipped HTC WWE 1.19.831 rom (os build 20764, 20769, 21015, 21018), not the latest one from topaz or rhodium. And I do believe this rom was for Hong-Kong devices.
may be it is my visual perception .

Original vs cooked roms

Hi there
I'm a newbie and wondering how much I'm missing out on by sticking with the stock ROM my HD came with. Could I be experiencing better, faster performance, improved features, etc, etc with a cooked ROM, or are the differences actually pretty marginal and just for those who really enjoy modifying and customising their device?
I know I will lose my ability to call up HTC and complain if something goes wrong with my HD whilst I keep the original ROM, so I'm just trying to gauge whether the benefits of changing to a cooked ROM are worth it. I don't see myself changing ROMs a lot, but I'd love better performance and there are quite a few features of original software that bother me.
Thanks for any advice!

In my experience cooked roms are cooked so they are better, more stable, have less issues & bugs, have faster performances & improved features. Thats the whole point, plus you can always revert back to stock rom anytime you want as all are available to download from the wiki
cooked roms are alot better imho, obviously depends which 1 you go for, a lite 1 will make your phone alot faster, some are feature-packed and so on.
I am currently using a cooked rom but if ever i needed to return to HTC i will put original rom on it.
Cooked is definitely the way to go. Especially if you run one of the many roms available from our own great chefs here at XDA. They are always more stable and way faster than stock roms. Plus, if you are worried about warranty and such, it is always completely reversible
You have to at least try one! If you need information on how to do it look at the guide in my signature or read the wiki. Cheers!
A long time ago a galaxy far far away, I too was a purist always stuck with stock ROM but one day I woke up and smelled the coffee and jumped ship since then I have never looked back! cooked rom is the way to go!. yes you may get one rotten apple but that doesnt mean the rest are bad far from it! I have been flashing rom's back and forth since my TyTN days and I can tell you this much, HTC or any other OEM could a learn a thing or two from the fine Chefs that have graced their presence in XDA over the last couple of years!!
As they say "don't be shy give it try or you will never know"!!!
Well, I'm convinced. Thanks for the opinions, and here goes....!
well this is only one way only once you flashed the cooked ROM then you have to continuously flash it as long as it is continued, means you will be addicted and you have to flash each new ROM that comes out, so your device will become the lab for testing new ROMs , any how you will like it that way.

The reason I have put off flashing my ROM is because there are so many I really have no idea where to start?
I just want a good ROM which makes my device faster, more stable, and look better. Any ideas?

I only have experience with duttys 2.x and Miri's roms since 5.x
Dutty has wm6.1, miri wm6.5 as the base, I personally like to have the newest stuff...
Dutty has a lot of stuff packed together which is also quite nice, but.. like I said, I rather go with the newer stuff. Miri's rom is not too barebones (hasn't ripped everything possible away, which could cause instability), the ROM has not crashed once - I like the miri 10.0 premium running on my HD at the moment.
Oh yes, I also had problems with dutty's data connections, for some reason it kept cutting my irc session in a couple of minutes. It was a pity, because the selection of already included apps was nice. And has gotten nicer all the time.
Well, others can tell about the other ROMs, I don't have *that* much interest in just toying around with all possible ROMs.
The decision to try miri's rom as my first wm6.5 was based solely on the fact that his thread on the forum had at most postings :-D

Yes, it will probably be some time yet before device manufacturers begin rolling it out with their hardware...

For me memory management is very important i have tested all the roms and flashed all the new roms till now Miri's rom is the best for me it is fast and hardly you reach to 50% of memory usage with tons of software installed, i know lots of people likes duty's rom but for me when i load it easily it reached above 50% of memory then after using gps and other heavy applications it reaches up to 90% that makes the device unstable, that was my opinion

In my experience cooked roms are cooked so they are better, more stable, have less issues & bugs, have faster performances & improved features. Thats the whole point, plus you can always revert back to stock rom anytime you want as all are available to download from the wiki

Cooked ROM Vs Stock ROM:
Faster: Agree
Improved features: Agree
Better: Depends on the quality of the cooked ROM
More Stable: Not for most of the time
Less Issues and Bugs: Not really the case
But flashing cooked ROM is really fun and addictive. However, I usually end up flashing back to a tweaked stocked ROM for daily use.
Well, I just installed Dutty's 3.3 ROM, and I have to say that so far it is so much better than the stock one. He's fixed a bunch of things that had been giving me the sh1ts about the original one.
Now I'm tempted to see what Miri's 10 is also like...damn, I'm hooked!

Advice for good roms with Leo Interface

Ok,
All my time with the Touch HD, I always used roms from Dutty, never tried from others. I like them cause there's few bugs on them, are always very stable and specially cause Dutty keeps and update almost every default in-built software that comes with the original roms.
But now, I'm a little disappointed with Dutty's roms, in particularity the roms with Leo interface, ie. manila 2.5, that are pledged with some bugs and in particularly don't even have Videocalls.
Can anyone give me an advise to an alternative to Dutty rom's ?
I would like to know what are the best roms with Leo interface and more importantly, that keep the default built-in programs (but always updated), for other words, are not stripped down (like the ones from Dutty)
Any hint would be great.
try miris ROM. one of them has manilla 2.6 running on windows mobile 6.1 and is supposed to be much faster.
think the thread is going to be closed as it is something personal
i can only say look at my signature what im using
I'm not asking anything personal, I'm asking a good rom with Leo interface and most important, to have all or most of the default in-build apps like the official roms.
Does Miri's rom have all or most of the default in-build apps (updated of course) like the official roms?
youre asking a good leobased rom that is for everyone different there for oure asking an opinion based question and yes miri has that
try to look at the first pages most of them have written down what they have in there rom
basically, there is no right answer, just what people like. this might aswell be a "whats your favourite ROM" thread which does little more than clutter the forum.
back to the topic though, i suggest you try them all (there are only 3 or so). could probably test them all in half an hour.
get miri 7.1
I've tested a couple of the latest Leo roms and the only thing you have to take into consideration is to REMEMBER that they are all in beta.
From my perspective they ALL run like crap for daily use. They are interesting to try out, but they are also more frustrating and slow to use and not worth the sleek new interfaces. Using any 6.1 rom is going to run much better
muhahahhahhahha...great thread here really awesome contribution and totally original question.
Hi onesolo, after been using almost all of Dutty's Rom's, when I moved to 6.5, the R2 was giving me some problems, and then decided to try PDAVIET. For now I'm pleased but still get the same problem as Dutty's with the SMS question, not sure if it's the same problem for everyone, but as you know here (PT) we can send an 160 caract. sms, and with this new 6.5 Rom I can't get out of the UNICODE and the lenght of the sms just passed to 70 caract.
But nevertheless I think it's stable and worth a big try.
Ok, ok, I can see another anoying thing, that is the memory use, if you have two or more programs open it may reach 70%.
With the good old Dutty's, would be hard to get there,
Ciao, até logo.
Jo
Plnety of roms out there with your requests. You just need to search. As stated above everyone has there own opinions on which roms best suit them as well as their own personal favourite chef, so would normally nominate them.
Best advice would be read title of each rom thread, research 1st post of each thread, see how others like this rom and then try it to make your own conclusion

What is the most stable / bugfree ROM available

I use my phone constantly and find even the AT&T stock ROM is not stable. I reboot nearly every day which in itself wouldn't be a problem if I could just reboot in the morning and forget it. However, randomly the ROM gets very very slow and I have to reboot and nearly always just when I need it. I don't need a lot of flash or extras though a little speed boost would be nice. I can install the few extra applications that I need. What I really need is a good, stable ROM.
Any suggestions?
There are lots of good ROMs here. But everyone uses their phone differently. Try one out and see how it goes for you.

Mod seem to close these questions very quickly.
But I like to say that I have tried them all and seem to always revert back to Josh's 1.7 (with Sense 2.1) which can be found here....
http://f1ip.net/Downloads/RhodiumFiles/Roms/Joshkoss/1.7_Full_Final.7z
Thanks but ...
I appreciate your input steviewevie but I am doing something not everyone here does ... actually looking for some opinions.
Josh 1.7 Or Jackos OldSchool
I've tried pretty much every GSM ROM out there for my TP2. The most stable with the most available RAM and fastest speed goes out to Jackos Old School 1.1 ROM without a doubt.
I think there should be a new monthly thread poll open for the 1st week of every month with this exact question.
I can understand how the veterans get sick of this and clutter up things.
On the other hand, I can appreciate having the information available. It is frustrating to search and only find locked threads.
Please mods, take me up on this idea, or at least some version of it.
I wish I had time to flash 10 different ROMs to see which is most stable and fits my needs. Let's leave that up to the people that have time, and allow them to summarize their findings via a regular poll.
Thank you
I find my ROM to be quite stable.
I should release it one of these days.
Would you like to be my exclusive BETA tester?
Deep Shining very good.. Ive tried them all
Deep shining is a very good ROM.. I've tried em all .
I have tried just about every cook and i would have to say eras2r makes the most stable ROM for the rhodium.

This is the only ROM that i have flashed that never crashes or freezes EVER. i have been using bug free windows mobile for almost a year now
Personally, I find EnergyROM to be my favourite. I know you don't want loads of extras but EnergyROM is very very smooth and looks very nice and then you have those extras to play around with when you get bored!
I have been using Energy with Cookie HomeTab 28th May 2010 verison, and works very well.
Very fast rom, even loads and runs Copilot8 without issues, which is more than the HTC 6.5 rom did.
I agree. Mods, why not put up a mini site with a list of ROMs available - such as a "marketplace" and then let users rank and comment with feedback. I've spent a week searching through all of this trying to figure out which way to go. I can't just flash a ROM, get it all customized, then 2 weeks later do it again. I actually have to use the phone to work. At the very least this would allow people to rule out certain ROMs based on their needs.
Ranking a ROM is so objective... Some users expect features, others speed and all the all business users a reliable ROM is a must. Maybe there should be a "stars-voting" system that allows the user to vote for speed, stability, futures, eye-candy etc.?
Anyway I think that a pinned thread with a ROM index would be enough. Just a basic info + developers comment.

I'm not sure that would help, each entry would be the same:
Content: "list of contents"
Comment: "Best ROM out there - ever"
The contents would change, but the comments wouldn't!
Yeah, because people are too cocksure. I would never call my rom "better" or even "the best". I thought about the chief description as a short note what are goals for each rom.
Ach, and one screenshot would be nice too.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek, but honestly, wouldn't you want the Chef of your ROM to be working on having the absolute best ROM out there? Otherwise he/she would not have very much motivation. Think about it:
"Yup, my ROM is OK, but not the best"
Not a ROM I would try...
So make sure you never try my roms
I think that a rom is a personal combination of programs/skins that fit the chief. But that's just my thought
I saw a guy that said something like that: "Asking on xda what's the best rom is like going to a bar and asking with beer is the best". Different persons, different ROM experiences All about taste.
