Please know the answer for a fact before answering my question. I did a search for like the last 10 min and cannot find anything answering this?
If I use this method HERE to root my phone, do i have to use a custom rom to have things like, SU, Tether, and all that junk, or can I just add them on?

I searched for this, but couldn't seem to find an answer, so if there is a duplicate thread, I do apologise.
I'm due to receive my Nexus One in just a couple of hours, is it possible to root the device without unlocking the bootloader?
Also when froyo does get released, would you need to actually root the device to utilise the wifi hotspot functionality?
Thanks in advance and I appreciate any responses.

No, you must unlock bootloader to root.
The current testing version of Froyo does not require root to utilize the wifi hotspot functionality. That shouldn't change with the release.
Ah ok, thanks, now the question I have to juggle is, do I want to root my device anyways, for some of the features that can be added. The fact that I will be voiding my warranty by doing such does concern me slightly.
I'd say use it as-is until you actually have a reason you need to root - or at least long enough that you can verify the hardware is functioning as it should.
Hello people!
I have a problem. I can't root my phone.
I tried like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P8RoIT8uDk
and like this:
http://theunlockr.com/2013/01/14/how-to-root-the-lg-optimus-4x-hd/
In both examples when I root my phone it should be installed supersu aplication after rooting, but it doesnt install.
It seem like some sort of protection is keeping him to root (an to install supersu app).
Anybody knows where is the problem?

your 1st way is for 4.1.2 and is working and the 2nd is for 4.0.3 and is working :good:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Also u can try the in forum ways which are the same. if u search for optimus 4x root u will get the old way in search results 1st page and the all in one toolkit in 2nd page.
Another way is to check the frequently asked questions guide , in here , in help section ,which was made by our beloved steppenwolf so people dont need to search...........

SO, I'm on my XT1055 (UsCellular Moto X)
I'm running the stock ROM, rooted, with TWRP.
I keep getting the (very annoying) OTA notification, and I WOULD like to update to 4.4.2 as there are some features that I would like.
It's annoying because it's not just a normal notification, It takes over the whole screen, and happens whenever I regain internet access.
The only thing I really use root for is RootExplorer and Xposed/GravityBox.
My question/problem is this; Can I update without losing root? And how?
I'm sorry, no disrespect intended....
But please, read number one.

I need some help rooting my phone. I dont think I can use PingPong root because I have a base version of G920AUCU2AOF3, and I don't think it's supported yet. I only know of one other way to root and its Here. I cant figure out if I can root and not trip KNOX or anything else. Can I root with this without any repercussions or is there another way to root that is safe?
You need to search the forum, this has been asked many times before.

Well if you wont answer my question, then how do I downgrade from 5.0.2 to 5.0 so I can root?

The answers to all your questions have already been answered. Effective search techniques, which you apparently lack, would find them. But I will spoonfeed you the answer and further clutter the forum, making it more difficult for others to search.
If you are on unrooted OF3 or OF4 on an AT&T device, you cannot root now, and you cannot revert to an older build. You will have to wait for a new root exploit to be found. Or return your device and buy an international one with unlocked bootloader.
I read threads that say you can't but they were older. If a question is asked multiple time, to fix your problem, maybe a stickied thread is needed.... Just a thought.
This is probably a stupid question with an obvious answer, but I have a question.
I want to update my phone to Android Nougat, Oreo (If there's a good ROM. All the ROMs I saw in my quick scan of the ROM forum were Nougat) and eventually P. But I have banking apps that will break if my phone is rooted. So here's what I want to do:
1) Root phone
2) Install new ROM
3) Unroot phone
4) Enjoy a better Android
Is this possible? This feels like a dumb question and I feel like the answer ought to be yes. But I don't want to waste an evening or two rooting if there's zero chance of it actually working.
Of course you can. If you root your phone with magisk, there is also an uninstaller script. There should be something also for superSU. The main problem is that there are no custom roms for p9+, so eventually you'll just get official oreo.
"Eventually"
My phone is carrier-branded to Uplus in Korea. They haven't update the phone in the 1 1/2 years I've had it. I've got little expectation that they're going to start now.
