OK so i tried to upgrade. All I got was ... "The installation of this application was unsuccessful"
OK, so I deleted all references to facebook and reflashed CM 5.0.6. No change.
Now I can't load the Facebook.apk via the SDCARD and you might as well forget the Market, I just get the same message ... "The installation of this application was unsuccessful" grrr! Clicking on the notification message brings up an "incompatible" message .. huh?
So .. is my Facebook FUBAR? I can do without it .. but it would be nice to have the FB widget back.
I've got the same problem and nobody replied to me in the Facebook app thread >.<.... Just make do without until froyo comes out I guess
You guys use App2SD ??
Re: Facebook is fubar on my N1!
Facebook app sucks anyway. I just use touch.facebook.com it's a lot better
Yeah, it's a fairly ****e app, no chat, the refresh does not work properly, notifications come when they please...

You may have installed a modded version (key mismatch). try
Code:
adb uninstall com.facebook.katana
that did it, thanks

britoso thanks, you may have missed the bit in my post about 'I deleted ALL references to facebook" from the N1. That incuded the katana reference. Made no difference sadly.
I'll try the touch.facebook.com mentioned above, see how that goes.
OK weird!
I really thought I had deleted ALL facebook content from my phone. HOWEVER! When going to Settings > Aplications > Manage Applications - there in the list was a reference to 'com.facebook.katana'!!
The option allowed me to uninstall this reference. Once more to the market download it YET again .. and surprise, surprise, surprise! Facebook now installed successfully! Well damn!!
It's back! HTH someone!

I discovered that Chomp sms under "tools" settings had a "install voice data," so that it can read your sms. I wanted to see how the phone read the sms messages, so I decided to install "voice data/speech" from the Market.
Now every 5 or so seconds I get an error that says "The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I think it was the installment of that application "speech" because I never got that error before.
I tried to remove it by going to tools/apps.. and market but uninstall button is disabled.
I upgraded to cyanongen 4.2.2 to try to fix the problem, but it still comes up.

Update and clearing dalvik-cache also didn't help...
Slowly i become desperate with this problem.
It came when I deleted Ndrive, because i wanted to update to newest version...
Oh, i also can't open the setting option "Data synchronization"...
Last time i have deleted some apps in system/apps with root explorer because i wanted to delete amazon mp3 etc.
Have i delete a important app???
How do i fix it without a complete wipe???
Noone idea what i can do???

RA-Recovery has an option under "Other" called "fix uid mismatch", this is the command you want, same as fix_permissions in cm-recovery. if you cannot type an underscore in RA-recovery console, you should check that thread to see if this bug has been reported, if not you should please report it so it can be fixed. thank you. good luck, just run "fix uid mismatch" under "other" in recovery and let us know if that fixes it...

Can you Log in to Gtalk and Gmail or do you get the same Issues?
I had this In all google apps when I had a google.partner.setup FC. Kept me logged out of my Google account with no way of getting back in (That I could see)
I had to Wipe, Install a previous (older) version, Sign in, and then Reinstall ROM WITHOUT a data wipe. Worked a treat as a work around

OK, thanks for tip borodin1.
Just want to add this in case anyone runs into same thing. I switched from CM to Super D, I used backup for root users and let it restore everything and had this problem. It may confuse your apps so I had to wipe and reload apps a different way. Market works fine now. Just wanted to throw that in.
Just tried CM 5.0.5.3. All is well so far after wiping.
However, when I try to download apps from the market I'm getting market FC's preventing me from downloading. I've tried clearing the cache but nada.
To be more specific "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.
Any ideas...
It seem you are not the first to have the issue. I take it you have Amon_Ra recovery. I tend to think the 1.7.0 is the one that people have when they see it. I don't have a answer just commenting.
Yup, exactly.
I think it may also have something to do with MyBackupPro. Once I restore apps+data, then I get the FC's.

How I Fixed This
I just had the same issue (using SHOstock ROM 1.9.4, Android 2.3.6, kernal 2.6.35.7) and fixed it by clearing the application cache:
- goto settings
- then applications
- then manage applications
- select Google Play Store
- select Clear cache and Clear data
Hope this works for you.
I have the same problem as well. just started happening today.
The clearing cache/data method does work for me to get back into the Google Play Store, but whenever I try to download anything, it then crashes again. I can browse and view applications. But once I click the accept & download button on any application, it then forces Google Play Store to close. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Google Play Foce Close on Polaroid tablet
I've attempted the steps from the previous posters and am running running Android 2.3.4 on a Polaroid PMID701C with the 3.4.7 version of Play Store and I can browse files, download them and as soon as the download completes the "Sorry! ...(process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close" window appears.
I hope someone who understands this OS better than me can help. By the way, this device didn't come with any Market/Store program loaded so I found the apk on the net and downloaded it, if that matters.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Polaroid PMID701C PLAY STORE
I have this tablet and experienced the same issue. I only have a few minutes right now...but this has to do the read write permissions I believe. There are several forums that outline the install procedure and fix, in this case. Google Play/Market install to tablets and look there. If you have no luck I will check later tonight for some solid links. Good luck-
First post for me in a few years ! Same problem here. HTC Desire, Rooted, S-Off, Redux 1.1.2 ROM. Market updated to Google Play Store, loaded OK, I can search apps etc but as soon as I try to download, or update it crashes with the error message.
Once it has crashed it will not load until I clear cache - it then loads OK but the same happens when I try to download or update an app.
Market was built into the Redux ROM so I've now removed that using File Manager and also removed Market update. Still the same. I've spent the last 2 hours googling for an answer without any success. It appears that most people get a cure by deleting the cache (or maybe they think they have but haven't tried to download!)
I deleted downloadproviderUI.apk and downloadprovider.apk and it didnt work because of that , just add them if you thought they were bloatware and deleted them like I did -_- from the custom rom .zip , delete cache , delete play store , download latest , copy it to /system/app and name it to market.apk and should work fine , works fine for me now , downloads and updates
Google had released the new play store apk. The version is 3.5.16. Have a look on it.

Thanks for the advice but it hasn't worked for me. This is so annoying !!
This small tutorial is to get rid of the error android.process.acore which comes again and again on screen and bothers alot!!
For the People who are encountering this error just follow the below steps.
This error usually occurs because you might have forgot to WIPE when installing a NEW ROM. So to avoid that always wipe when the ROM provider has stated so.
There are also other causes which result this error. So try the following methods:
1. Try uninstalling Facebook if that is installed. If this does not fix your problem then try the following.
Do you have your contacts backed up?
2. Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Sync Adapter and press Clear Data, this error usually goes away. If this doesn't work, try clearing the data on Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts or Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Storage.
If problem is fixed, then restore contacts and reinstall Facebook and make sure you don't sync contacts with it.
3. Third and Final solution for me which I really dont like but has worked with me
Boot into Recovery than
1. WIPE DATA
2. WIPE CACHE PARTITION
3. MOUNTS & STORAGE > FORMAT SYSTEM
4.FLASH THE ROM
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. HAS WORKED FOR ME..... PEACE!!

This reminds me that I recently noticed that "Contact Groups" were not properly sync'ed between Google Contacts and the Contacts on my phone. I went into Contacts on my phone and checked "Sync Data". Is that supposed to stay unchecked?
Of course, the Contacts app crashes before I can un-check the box, so I don't know how to fix that now.

Clearing Data for Contact storage worked for me, thanks!
Third step seems to have woked
I did the first 2 with not results the third seems to have worked. My samsung VZW i800 is working quite well now thank you. I have CM11.0 terrenceng... granted I still get the error "unfortunately gmail has stopped" and I'm working on that issue. In the meantime I'm using the email app to handle my Gmail. Thanks again.
I tried deleting Facebook, which worked for several days, but now the Acore Error back with a vengeance !!! I do not have the same hierarchy as listed below, so I cannot use the Method #2. I've already tried Method #3, but obviously that did not work. Oh well ..... so much for upgrading to Buggy KitKat ....
At least I'm getting a new phone tomorrow .... Hopefully it will be more stable, and if I'm lucky might even have JellyBean!!! I had NO problems with JellyBean for over three months. Big mistake upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2.

anyone using this room with skype experienced any problem?
using the latest skype, when try signing out, system will show "android.process.acore" after click ok, message pops up right away. Reboot won't help either. Only way getting rid of message is to clear the contact storage.
Fix the android.process.acore
I had this problem after removing a Google account from my phone that did contacts sync. During the removal, my phone crashed (nice job guys) and it clearly corrupted something..
I DID NOT NEED TO RESET MY PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS OR RE-FLASH ANY FIRMWARE, ETC
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL DELETE ALL LOCALLY STORED CONTACTS FROM YOUR PHONE. BUT DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RESTORE ANY CONTACTS THAT YOU REMOTELY SYNCED WITH AN ACCOUNT (SUCH AS A GOOGLE ACCOUNT).
I fixed my phone by going to:
1. Setting > Application Manager
2. Slide over to the "ALL" tab
3. Select the "Contacts Storage" application
4. Click the "Turn Off" button
5. Click the "Force Stop" button
6. Click the "Clear Cache" button
7. Click the "Clear Data" button
8. Uncheck the "Show Notifications" option
9. Click the "Turn On" button
This should immediately resolve your issue.
IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DISABLED CONTACTS SYNCING FOR ANY OF YOUR "ACCOUNTS", YOU SHOULD RE-ENABLE IT NOW TO GET YOUR CONTACTS BACK ON YOUR PHONE.
If you're using the Facebook app (com.facebook.katana) , especially the "dev" version, try freezing/disabling, then clearing data and cache in it, seems FB doesn't do much contacts sanitizing....

the second solution which is clearing the ''contacts storage'' data fixed it but the problem occurred when i uninstalled facebook actually it happened to me on my other phone ( ''Galaxy Note II'' to be exact ) just by logging out of my account in the facebook app so i had to factory reset the phone
i wonder why ? all my devices have official roms with no root
anyway thanks
I get this problem "Unforunately,android.process.acore has stopped".
I have stock rom. I have Xposed framework installed,is that the source of the problem?
Thanx in advance for helping me.
My device:Samsung Galaxy S Duos2
I used to get that error message many times. With my first Note 3, it finally got so bad that I could not use my Note 3 anymore. Samsung sent me a replacement Note 3, which I still have. I started getting that error again on my second Note 3. Had to do a Factory Reset, which seemed to fix the issue. However, now I'm getting a new error message that just started when I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 >>> Touch Wiz suddenly quits. After about 15-20 seconds starts up again.
Hey all! If none of the above solutions are working for you (like in my case), then please try this solution I found that worked for me:
1. Uninstall the app that is causing the popups (this could be Facebook, OneNote, WhatsApp, Skype, etc...).
2. Disable Goolge+.
3. Reinstall app that was causing the popups (sign in, get it going).
4. Re-enable Google+ (I actually haven't cause I don't use it, but that's up to you).
It looks like 5.1 fix this, so hang in there!
I just got the Lollipop 5.0 Update for my Note 3 about a week ago. So far, seems to be running ok. I have a list of 11 issues with Lollipop, one which a Samsung Tech Support lady helped me fix (after many calls to tech support, with no help). Another issue I discovered the solution by myself (by accident), and one more issue I found the answer online after reading many articles, and watching many videos.
I have not seen this issue "android.process.acore" with the Lollipop 5.0 Update. Hoping to get another update to fix the remaining issues (Screenshot, Battery Drain, WiFi, RAM, Bluetooth, TouchWiz).

Yea, I tried everything else in this forum and on the web> Facebook uninstall, stop all contacts, calendar, google play related apps and clear data, delete google account, etc...
Have now cleared and uninstalled Skype, Airdroid, and mightytext since it seems to be a Google Contacts syncing issue. This still hasn\t helped. Will keep you all posted if I find the culprit.
