As the title says, im wondering if there's any way for me to increase my maximum mms message size. Right now i think its at 300k, so is there any way to make it bigger so it doesnt compress every pic i try to send? Thank you

I want to find out as well. I have a rooted HTC Aria and it is agravating to not be able to send anything over 300K. The limit used to be 600K, but after I rooted and installed Android 2.2 ROM for the Gratia, the size decreased to 300K. I like to send videos out viam MMS, that was one of the features I was sold on when I had the iPhone. I have this Android now that I would like to be able to send decent pics and videos on, but can't, can anybody help?

I can't believe that the limit for sending MMS messages on the MDA is only 5 seconds! My girl friend has a 100 dollar el-cheapo and she can send 20 seconds. Is there a way to increase the file size that you can send for MMS messages?
I'm not sure, but I'd guess the limit is based on the 100kB size limit for MMS messages. Have you tried reducing the quality of the video recording to make the file smaller?

Solution to the :05 Second Video Messaging Limit?
Has anyone got around the 80KB limit on Video messaging on the MDA? I have a frined with a Motorola v360 and she sent me a file that was 584 KB!!! I also called T-Mobile and they told me that It was the phones limitations and not any limit that they had set. Do any of you have a hack for this yet? Thanks, Vern.

Have a look here I thought my friends send long video to me so wanted to change MMS video limit.
It worked but all I can send on Orange is 100k so it was pointless..

A guy going under the name Jonazen sent me a reply to this question at Howardforums.com saying that I should try the following in order to increase the Video messaging feature on the MDA, but it's way above anything that I'm conftorable trying. Have any of you with more experience tried anything like this or are any of you capable of sending me the step by step procedure to trying this out? Thanks.
Well...if you're in an experimenting kinda mood... I just took a quick scan of the registry on my MDA, and found a key that appears to be related to this issue. It, and the associated values stored under it, currently look like the following:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\SizeLimit]
"SendCount"=dword:00000001
"SendLimit1"=dword:000493E0
"SendLimit2"=dword:00032000
"SendLimit3"=dword:0003E800
If you convert the hex in SendLimit1 to decimal, you'll find that is comes to 300,000, which is very close to 292k (1024 x 292 equals 299,008 bytes).
SendLimit2 is hex for 204,800 decimal, and SendLimit3 is hex for 256,000 decimal.
Not sure what the Limit2 and Limit3 refer to, but I'd guess that SendLimit1 is the one that you see reflected in the MMS config, and may well be the value that is limiting your MMS size. On the other hand, it would be pretty sloppy of MS and T-Mobile to make it that easy for you to change the limit. It's possible that, while SendLimit1 shows you the size limit, it may NOT in fact be something that you can modify to change the limit. It may be read from another part of storage somewhere. Might be worth a try, though, if you're feeling adventurous.
hello
i edited the registry settings that you identified and to begin with i only had 100kb limit when sending mms but i then doubled the values in decimal and the option changed to 200kb limit.
i did change all 3 valus and have just sent a 9 secs mms video and it sent it without any problems.
i also tried a 30 sec audio track and it worked!!
hope it helps

i have the vario on t-mob and have successfully sent mms over 100kb limit... i don't know why the settings are set to 100k....
i've sent 200kb files no probs
Beautiful
I'll have to try and do this because that limitation is killing me. Thank You, very much everyone. Peace, Vern.
SendLimit1,2 & 3 are the 3 values you get in the Limit dropdown in MMS settings.
However, whenever I select the MMS Video option on the camera, it only seems to let me record about 3-6 seconds (looks like a 75K limit on the camera, even though it's saving to SD). Any ideas how to extend this?

i remember seeing an optopn in the camera settings allowing a 'limit' on the recording time. is this limit enabled for you??
MMS video length is limited by Size, not time. Do a search around the forums, there's plenty of threads on the topic. Here is one that contains the registry key to increase the size lmit. BUt just keep in mind that some MMS providers might not allow MMS bigger than 100k, so you might send it, but the receiver may not receive it.

Still couldn't figure this one out. Can anybody help?
How do you change the Attachment size setting under MMS/SMS options? I used to be able to take and send large video files via MMS/SMS or I could simply go to my video folder and select menu and send whatever video I wanted and it would load it in to the MMS and I could send it. Now, if I send anything over 5 seconds, I get the file attachment too large blah blah, etc.
Is there a way to change this setting to say 5mb or at least like 1mb? In case you are wondering or may not know me (I'm new), I do not post questions haphazardly. I spent approximately 16 hours Wednesday and Thursday looking for a fix. I have installed the ATT MMS settings cab, the ATT Media v2 settings cab. I have changed everything I can think of and still, that damn 300k size setting is keeping me from sending anything over that size. I know it was larger before. It’s got to be something so easy that I am overlooking or I am just making it more complicated than it has to be.
If there is a post which CORRECTLY addresses this, please let me know.

Here's a Reg Hack to make it work.
MMS size to 1MB
Thanks to over2land
\HKLM\Software\ARcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\ Config\UI\Size Limit
change this size limit to 1024000
now you should be able to send up to 1MB over MMS.

Now I personally found a bunch of Send Keys.... Like 6 if i remember. I just changed them all. Copy/Paste is your friend.
Missed it by THAT much
You're RIGHT!! I'm not sure how I missed it.
You know. You go and go and go sometimes and then go some more and then when you're tired and worn out from the process, you discover a bomb of a resource, cutting the time in half and increasing efficiency and you go some more. It is these types of finds that can rejuvenate a person and coupled with a newfound revelation, most humans will set off yet once again incorporating what they've learned from the previous process. I am realizing that it may very well be this way until you reach some form of continuity and understanding with whatever you start. Back and fourth-trial and error-
Literally, after I posted, I found the Google search for XDA and it is the Bentley of searches where this forum is concerned. BOO-YA!
THANKS!!!!!

Just remember it doesn't matter how big a file you can send if the recepient can't receive such a large file!
Also I believe the AT$T network limit is 600K so yeah if you do the Reg Hack you can put it over 600K but I doubt it will do any good.

Changing that registry wont work. MMS is still limited to 600kb
You also need to change the size in
\HKLM\Software\ARcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\ Config\mm1\MMSCsetting\samplemmsc
to 1024000
Once you've done that, you can attach pics, audio up to 1mb.
The reg hack allows you to attach up to 1mb and attempt to send it. The problem is ATT's network wont allow you to send such large MMS. You get a notification "Request Entity Too Large"
Disappointing. I installed the cab that changed the Resize limit on MMS, but its really pointless because the network still limits how much you can send.
Wish there was a way around it. Whats the use of using a higher resolution when you cant send the pics/videos?
I have installed the cab files on my unlocked Fuze. For some reason, my settings are limited to 1 kb. Hae tried to change, but there are no options to choose for send limits. Is anyone else having this problem too??

I have a Fuze with 'EnergyRom' 'Phoenix 2' "Standard" I was having the same trouble. I tried the 2 Reg edits on this thread and they didn't work alone. I also had to:
change "SendDefalut" to 1024000 as well as "Configurable" to 102400 on:
\HKLM\Software\ARcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\ Config\mm1\MMSCsetting\samplemmsc
worked perfect even on my tilt 2 thanks again
When I receive a mms picture message, the picture always comes out extra small then it should be. Is there anyway to fix the dimension size and get the MMS picture view in full size?

I think it must depend on the size of the picture you've been sent - as mine have always been full screen. Bear in mind that the Diamond has a VGA (640x480) screen and most phones send MMS pics at a lesser resolution.
The way to view full screen is to open the MMS pic, click 'Contents' which will then let you see text01.txt and Image001.jpg (or similar) which are the parts of the message. If you hold your finger / stylus on Image001.jpg then you get an option to Save. If you save the file then it gets saved in My Pictures and is viewable in the TouchFlo Photos and Videos... which means you can zoom in using the scrollwheel.
Your operator can also cut down the size to save traffic. It's done on the mmsc server, I believe.
I am also experiencing this problem, The Pics are only coming in at 4k, and when saved as suggested by p3eps It won't let me zoom in. Pics are about the size of a finger nail on the screen which just isn't good enough!
I am going to phone o2 to see if they are restricting something but I am on a unlimited data package so I don't see why they would.
If anyone else has any thoughts would appreciat it!

I've experienced the same problem with my original Orange ROM.
Since I've flashed my Diamond with the original HTC ROM I am able again to receive MMS picture in their original size and not in thumbnail mode !!!
But I've experienced this problem with other HTC models. I think it's a problem with the ROM install. A hard reset could fix the problem. Perhaps.
O2 in the UK do this, if the network doesn't recognise your phone it automatically downsizes the picture. I had this problem with my htc s710. I had to edit some registry setting to make the o2 network think my phone was an xda and it worked.
I cant find the post i found it in, but in sure if was under the networking folder on this forum.

Top Man thats sounds like the problem!!! Only thing is I have no Idea when it comes to registry editing!
Hello, Ihave had several phones, all be it Windows, that I was able to change the Maximum Size Limit from the puny 300K to about 1MB (1024). Is there a wa to do that on the g1, so that when the pics are sent they dont get resized, thus losing quality? Thanks in advance.
Hey guys,
I am hoping to find a quick and easy answer here, as im sure im just a fool and can't figure this out...
How do I send a MMS Message with Audio and Picture attached? With my 9700 I could send a picture and attach audio to it. If I could do it with that DingleBerry, then their has to be a way on N1?
Thanks,
Blaine
Hmmm I even just tried with handcent to attach a pic AND some audio, and it wouldn't work. Guess its not possible. Though I never tried this on any of my Nokia phones so I DON'T know the difference. Pretty cool that blackberry could do it.

Ok, I figured a little something out..If anyone gives a rats patooey. You can go to attach when you are composing a message and click "slideshow" It lets you attach a picture, and a ringtone. However I can not attach certain ringtones and I can not figure out why. I thought maybe file size/type might have had something to do with it, but apparently it does not?
Can anyone mess with the "slideshow" option and maybe enlighten me on why it will let me attach some ringtones, and not others? On Handcent I have max mms size set to 600kb, but the pic and ringtones I am trying to combine are not larger than that. Any help guys?
Thanks as always,
Blaine
