Switching between launchers??? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to just switch betwwen sense ui and the nexus launcher???
eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2Amcaot1Us

MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A

Install a ROM with Sense UI, push the Launcher2.apk from a nonSense build to /system/app. Install Home++, use its "home picker" app to switch

You can go into phone settings, applications and find launcher. Click it and then click "clear defaults" Now when you press the home key it will ask you which home you want. Until you actually pick a default you will be able to choose everytime. I do this sometimes. Yes even with sense ui.

Q: Is it possible?

To add screens (more windows to home screen) aside from the default 3?
I have the latest cyanogen mod and it comes with 5 but I just flashed a cool theme that I want to keep but it only has 3.
So is there a way to do it ? Is there a option to do it that I missed?
PS. I have openhome and that's not what I want.
Your theme prob has the advance laucher if it has a more option when you press the menu button on the main screen, hit that and go into the first option and select amount of screens , exit and reboot to take effect
look up advancedlauncher in the market or install the advanced launcher located in the dev forum
edit: went back and re-read. yeah just hit menu and extended. it already has the advanced launcher. ugh.... too many .9.png's tonight

Hero with stock launcher

Is there a Hero build that also has a non Rosie / Sense UI.
I am looking for the exchange calendar / people / facebook integration client but do not need the Rosie interface it always takes for ever to go back to the home screen when in some of the programs.
Thank you
It doesn't really matter if the ROM has one already, because you can push one in yourself.
Find a theme you like (should be for cupcake) and pull the launcher.apk. You need to push it to /system/app. You can do this using the terminal on your phone. put it on the root of your sdcard and type:
cp /sdcard/Launcher.apk /system/app
Then you should be able to choose the non-touch flo option when you press home. If not go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > TouchFlo > Clear Defaults.
Thank you for the input. Every time I try I get a force close. I guess I will keep looking.
Thank you.
most hero ROMs that are released have the stock launcher in them. Unless noted in the OP of that ROM. You can follow AdrianK's instructions for clearing defaults. once you press home again it should give you an option for touchflo3d or for Launcher. choose launcher.
I've attempted this before too, it results in a force close or bootloop.

Really? I've been running cyrowski's 1.1.1 Sense Hero for the past 3 days with advanced launcher pushed to /system/sd/app_s/ and Rosie removed. No FCs, but rotate is a little slow on the homescreen.

[Q] Hacking Touchwiz

So two part question.
1. Is it possible? And by possible I mean legal and technically possible to hack it.
2. Where would one go about finding a step by step to edit/hack/modify/theme an apk specifically?
What I'm trying to do is change the App drawer links that TW defaults to. I'd love to have GMail instead of Email and Skyfire instead of the stock browser.
Can you not just drag the icons over and replace? I can't verify since I'm using ADW
Nope, I wish it did. I like Launcher Pro but really would like to make TW work. PLus just want the experience of playing with that.
Really?
Press Applications icon
Menu (soft key) -> View Type -> Customizable grid
Menu (soft key) -> Edit
Drag what you want in there
Menu (soft key) -> save
change the grid back to alpha order if you want

I'll be damned. You're right. Thanks guys!!!
cross flash to i9000
So we can customize it then in stock form unrooted ? Cool..
Mac
I wouldn't really call it customizing in the hacking form of it... Sure you can change the dock around and reorder how the app drawer. But that's more of a built in functionality.

ADW Launcher - Can't long press anymore on Home Screen

EDIT: This has been resolved, at the expense of my own ignorance and embarrassment! Thanks for the help, folks.
For whatever reason, all of a sudden, I can't seem to long press on any icons or on the wall itself on my ADW Launcher home screens. So I can't move or delete icons or widgets nor add any new widgets and etc. from that "add" menu. However, I can long press in the app drawer and in folders, and basically anywhere in the phone except for the home screen.
I've tried clearing cache, reverting back to stock launcher (where I can long press fine anywhere), resetting ADW, and rebooting my phone, etc. Nothing seems to fix it. Holding down on an icon will just result in the orange highlight staying on indefinitely.
Clearly it's an issue with ADW, but has anyone experienced this?
did you unlock adw in the menu? you may have locked the desktop.

Download "Home Switcher" from the Market (free). Open it, then hit "Clear Default" on the bottom. It'll bring you to your current launcher's system setting menu, then just hit "Clear defaults" near the bottom. Next time you hit your Home key, it'll ask what launcher you want; pick and choose and choose to make it default or not.
Hope that helps.

[Q] How get back to stock launcher

I have three launchers on my Captivate, original TW, Launcher pro, and ADW. Every time I hit Home button (2nd from left), I get the window to select which one. It has a checkbox at the bottom to select to use the one hit as default from then on.
My question is, once that checkbox is selected (say if I selected ADW), how in the future can I get back to, e.g., TW? I could open Launcherpro or ADW from Apps, (but I would hate to have to go to Apps every time to open it)! But I don't see how to ever get back to TouchWiz since it is not in Apps. ??
Can you make that selection window show again once you have checked a specific default?
Settings, applications, manage, launcher you are using, clear defaults
Use home switcher or go into menu, settings, applications, choose all, find the default launcher, click on it and select clear defaults. From memory but should be close.
after you choose the default, to reset the default:
from homescreen, menu, settings
applications, manage applications
find your current default launcher in the list, click on it
select CLEAR DEFAULTS
hit home and it will ask you what to use
Thanks.
Love this place--it should be named "answers are here!"

I agree...use home switcher. I t makes life a lot easier, especially when you want to try out some launchers without going back and forth to the settings menu.
