I did do a search for this issue and there are other folks having this issue in the Development Forum, but I can't post on that forum.
Used ManualNooter 4.4.27 for 1.2.0 (worked great by the way! Thanks). I can not figure out how to get my google calendar to sync. I have tried the "add account" again procedure, didn't work. Won't accept a dup. account (never had that popup before).
I have tried deleting my gmail acct in the new NC stock email app. and that didn't help.
Went in to Nook Color Tools, to Manage Apps and cleared defaults and data, didn't help.
Anyone have any idea? Oh yeah when I go to gmail, accounts, account settings and click settings for gmail, under Data & synchronization, syn calendar is not listed. Thanks!
I am having the exact same problem and trying to figure out what to do. Anyone else with the same problem?
I know some other folks have posted the same problem on the developer page, but so far have not read any fixes. If you hear of anything pls let me know.
Anyone else having this issue?
When I first setup my phone I enabled auto sync for gmail. It was working fine up until a few days ago when I realized I was not getting my emails. I have to go in an manually refresh to get any emails. Anyone have a fix for this?
I am a total noob to this forum (yes I watched the video), and have not been able to find a thread addressing this. I found a few posted last year about similar problems on other devices, but none for the Droid 3. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Go to the home screen, click the menu button, click Settings, click Accounts, click your Gmail account, make sure Gmail is checked. The Phantom of Android sometimes unchecks things on it's own, don't ask me why, but see if this helps.

Thanks for the response. I tried that, but I still have to manually sync to get my emails. I tried unchecking and rechecking every option for sync and nothing seems to work. Do you think it has anything to do with maildroid? I also use maildroid for my business email, and was wandering if that could possibly interfere with gmail? This is very frustrating.

Since day one I am not able to open my Friends-list in Facebook on my HTC One phone. When clicking on Friends I will get this message: Cannot retrieve friends list. Please try again later. [1/An unknown error occurred]
When checking Settings/Accounts & Sync in Android I will find an red refresh symbol of Facebook and this message: Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.
I did completely remove Facebook, People and Contacts on my tablet, phone and PC. But after re-installing everything, the problem remains.
I am not able to see my friends list and can not tag friends in a post. Also my contacts pictures in Android are not synced with the Facebook profile pictures.
What can I do to solve this annoying problem?

Thanks for helping xineis!
I tried those steps but that didn't help either.
I removed and/or cleared:
PC>Facebook>Account Settings>Apps>every single app
Phone>Accounts & Sync>Facebook
Phone>Accounts & Sync>Google
Phone>Apps>All>Contacts Storage
Phone>Apps>All>Facebook (also uninstalled updates)
Phone>Apps>All>Facebook for HTC Sense
Phone>Apps>All>Google Contacts Sync
Phone>Apps>All>HTC Sync
Phone>Apps>All>People
I also removed all contacts from Google contacts on my PC.
After these steps I open Facebook, and after filling in my credentials I choose Sync all. After a few minutes, when I check the Phone>Accounts & Sync>Facebook option I will find an exclamation mark right next to the refresh symbol within Facebook Contacts.
I tried all kinds of configuration but never have been able to solve this issue. Facebook will simply not sync the contacts.
More suggestions please!
Just tried a full wipe but that also does not change anything. Than I tried another Facebook account and that worked just fine. But when I tried mine, same problem remains. Must be an error on Facebook server.
How can I contact Facebook directly? The help function sucks and it seems they just ignore my messages

You even tried the "change password" step?
humm, I don't have the One (yet), but as any Android device it probably has that reset button (is that the "factory reset"?). I know it's a little harsh but it could (maybe) solve your problem...
Have you tried alternative facebook apps like Fast for Facebook and Haxsync? See if they have are having sync issues as well. Also, is your phone 'authorised' by Facebook? Long shot but worth trying

Ok I had the same problem for ages and one day realised that not all syncs were on - under phone settings yes but apps have individual settings that cannot be overridden by your phone... I'm sure you wouldve tried something so simple but just in case - go into your Facebook app on your phone, under the menu tab select 'app settings' and at the very very bottom of the list there is an option for how to sync contacts i.e. none, all or existing only ...
This is probably something that you've already tried but hey, I was silly enough to not realise!!
I'm sorry if this was not much help, aside from blissful simplicity I am unable to assist.
very useful info
Thanks so much for the useful info ^^^....had this same problem and thought it was the recent kitkat 4.4.2 update. Thanks...am sorted
Ok I've done some digging and can't seem to find anything with my exact problem.
Yes I have looked up duplicated read only contacts BUT everyone seems to have this issue with contacts synced from another app. Mine is no.
Got this baby this past Sunday (found out that I can upgrade 7 days early so of course I did it. Love the phone and think I will be okay without root. Got Helium backup to backup my data. Only thing left is for them to add a Restart in the power menu then I'll be fine with no Root. OH and they need to get Lolipop out ASAP)
But ever since then I've been having this issue. I've been having new contacts made, same name as a contact I have, but with not info (most of the time. Sometimes it has their number in it). Now here is where it gets weird.
They are Google contacts that it says are saved under my Gmail. I go to Gmail, No duplicated contacts there, I try to delete, says they are read only and can only hide, AND it seems like the contacts that are getting duplicated are contacts that I seem to call most often. I have all other apps and their contact sync turned off so I know it's not an issue with them, and since they are saved under Gmail and when I turn off the local Phone contacts they are still there so I know they are not local saved/SIM contacts.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know. I felt like I had this issue loooooong ago with another phone but pretty sure it was back when Facebook synced its contacts and I had to link them.
I'm a savvy guy and know my way around Android.
Thanks
Ok well i ended up getting it myself.
For people with this issue:
Turn off google contact sync. Then go to apps in settings and then look for the contact storage app. Force stoo the act and clean all data. Check contacts to make sure its empty. Then enable google contacts sync.

Contacts in Android are stored in a database, and as they come from multiple sources (synced from Google, Facebook, Whatsapp, LinkedIn and copied from SIM or stored as "local phone" contacts...) it's easy to have multiple instances of same contact with different info or even duplicates. Contacts app let you "join" multiple contacts from different sources so they will appear joined in your contacts list, but they will still be stored inidividually in the database.
Anyway, there are multiple apps that let you manage your contacts at a deeper database level. With MiniContacts https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brapeba.minicontacts you can see all raw contacts one by one showing its original account source (group). And you can delete all contacts from a source (i.e. those coming from LinkedIn, or Facebook) or choosing manually those you don't want. Notice that if you don't disable the syncronization with the source those deleted contacts will reappear again. So, first disable syncronization! If you want to delete the contacts permanently from everywhere instead of just from your Android database, go to the source (LinkedIn, Facebook...) and delete them there.
Hope it helps...

I could kiss you right now. I have been scouring the internet and downloading apps for hours trying to figure out how to fix "read only" and "can't be deleted" contacts on my second replacement dud Turbo 2. Duplicates galore, and they wouldn't go away. Thank you, thank you, thank you! No more Verizon Cloud - that really messed it up both times. Merry Christmas! :good:

The app Simpler Contacts can merge duplicate apps. I've used it on friends' phones to do that.
Of course, Simpler Contacts also would like you to keep using their app and even their backup service, and they have a Dialer app too. But you don't need all that. I just use Simpler Contacts once in a while to check for duplicate contacts.
But this solution above is good too.
I also used Simpler Contacts to export all contacts from a "local" account. Helped to friends do this when they switched from iPhone to Android and the carrier store exported all their iPhone apps to "local" phone account -- which is STUPID. All the contacts need to synced with Google.
Guys, I really need help and at my wits end. I left the android platform for a bit to IPhone X....Needless to say I want to use my Note 8 again. For the life of me, I cannot get gmail to sync anymore. I tried removing my google account, I tried a factory reset, I tried adding my google account to another android device...everything syncs like contacts, calendar etc....but NOT GMAIL.
I am at a total loss here as it still works fine on my IOS device and doesn't matter if I use WIFI or cell data. Any experts here with any clue...I'm dying here.
I would also like to add that I do not think its my device as this issue exists on 2 android devices I tried and I can add a different gmail account to either device with zero issues. Seems like something is specifically blocking my gmail (maybe a security or config setting somewhere) from allowing it to sync on the gmail app.
I am starting to think its not the gmail app itself but rather some setting (or something corrupt) in how sync syncs gmail. The issue must be with sync not my devices and not the gmail app because on the same devices, other gmail accounts work fine and other items sync fine (except gmail), factory resets, removal and re-adding accounts, etc do not work

You would do best to call Google and tell them your issue. I have never had gmail not sync when it is toggled to do so.
@mike3000000,
Have you tried all the recommendations on this page > https://support.google.com/mail/answer/4780745?hl=en
If so, and problems persist, go to the Google Gmail forum and post your issue there > https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/gmail/QGmx0I_lDa8/jZOAbHf5CQAJ

Are you SURE you've gone through ALL the settings in the GMail app? Theres a couple, if not checked, will screw up the sync. Like make sure all your inboxes are set to sync AND notify. Make sure you have it set to sync the last 30 days of mail (or however long you like).
Also go to accounts in settings and make sure all the sync settings are toggled on. Unless Google is having server issues, it's most likely something simple you've missed which is easy to do.
See if it works with Bluetooth turned off. My Gmail app seems to sync immediately (like it's meant to) and also the Google Play app updates complete and install without any delays.
I had this issue some time ago, with my note 8, not as bad as your case, there were some periods when no sync at all, I could verify that the issue was not gmail itself, as I have 3 devices with the same gmail account, the other two always received the emails normally, long story short, I solved the problem using macrodroid to trigger gmail sync every 10 minutes, I know that this is not a real solution, but I have used it for almost a year, as I use macrodroid for a lot of things, I really forgot àbout it untill now when reading your post

How is it obviously still a problem for some people? No one has replied in this thread for 15 months, until you resurrected it just to say you don't have that issue an tell the OP to turn off his Bluetooth.
Who is the OP? He's the Original Poster who started the thread. Who knows if he found a solution, but he obviously hasn't been here in 15 months, so my guess is he either solved it or gave up on it.

Because I am one of those "some people". Obviously. And I do have this problem. Obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be searching for a fix or offering my suggested one.
If resurrecting an old thread bothers you so much why bother replying.

It doesn't bother me at all. I prefer people to search for issues before creating new threads. I didn't realize you were having issues as well, since you never said you were having issues. You actually said you Gmail syncs immediately like it's supposed to, which lead me to believe that you were NOT having an issue. Generally people don't say their phone is behaving as it's meant to, if they're having problems with it.
I thought you were just offering a solution to a very old thread for some reason. I was just letting you know it was an old thread, and the OP, to whom you were offering a solution, had moved on.
Then when you said others were obviously still having issues, I questioned that, as it was not obvious to me. Especially since your post was about how your Gmail syncs immediately and Google Play updates without delay, and your phone is functioning as it's meant to (in your words). Maybe I should've understood you wanted it to function MORE like it's meant to?
Then you asked who the OP was, so I explained that.
And you wanted to know what his solution was, so I explained I didn't know, since he had moved on.
So it didn't bother me. I was merely conversing with whom I believed to be another civilized adult. Sorry I offended you, though.
