I downloaded a theme (blackice) in cyanmod updater and applied it. I have the kang o rama mod pack installed. the launcher 2 app keeps fc now and i cant get into my phone. is there a way to reinstall the launcher over everything from recovery or will i have to flash the kangorama zip again to get it right please hit me back im gettin frustrated
If you havent done so yet, just reboot into recovery and re flash your ROM or if you had done a nandroid backup restore from there. TO get sppecific help on your force close post a logcat of it in action.
Forgot to mention, a wipe to factory reset should be done if installing a fresh rom, just to make sure the problem goes away

So I decided to root my phone, following everything here (I am completely noob at this):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572
I did screw up on step 10 where instead of doing a "Flash zip from sdcard" I did a reboot and it booted into the original system. So I went through the process again from step one and did everything right this time.
I don't know if that broke the root or not, but I cannot flash anything on the phone, mainly new ROM.
When I try to wipe it will give me this error:
"error wipe dalvik via adb"
"error wipe ext via adb"
If I go and flash the ROM anyway, it will get stuck at the splash screen forever...
Fresh Rom 2.3.3 will give me the endless droid dance
Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 Test 4 For Hero CDMA will be stuck at the "X" animation
I can pull out the battery stuff and it still doesn't work. I am able to just restore my nandroid backup and the phone will work then.
Does anyone knows what did wrong? Or how I can get this to work?
PS: I have the "Superuser Permission" ninja is my apptray so I assume I rooted it correctly...
Make sure your battery its charged when flashing. Re-download whatever files you want to flash, sometimes they get corrupted during download. Which recovery are you using?
Sent from my Hero CDMA using XDA App
also if when your in the recovery image for the first time or you have been in there for awhile i get those errors but usually a shut down and the boot back into recovery works for me
I managed to get this working with Rom Manager after restoring the nandroid to the Sprint ROM. Running on Fresh 2.3.3 now, thanks for the reply!
My question is...
I have Cyanogen mod 7 on my phone atm and I want to experiment with other roms. I'm going to try MIUI
Do I have to Re flash my phone if I already have open recovery and nandroid on my phone or can i just get the Miui rom throw it on the SD card , then go to open Recovery wipe everything and install the miui and reboot the phone?
And do I also have to apply the Google apps update as well (i'd assume i have to just like cyanogen 7)
Thanks for the help!

From ROM to ROM, all you need to do is place the ROM itself on your SD Card in OpenRecovery/updates and do a FULL WIPE (both caches and data).
For Gingerbread ROMs you need the GB Google Apps(Gapps). For Froyo ROMs (with the exception of FroyoMOD) you need to flash the Froyo Gapps.
Reboot into recovery and apply update, go from there.

when u do a nandroid backup u dnt backup only ur settings .. do a full backup n when u restore ur phone will back to the same state when u backed it up ..
u don't have to setup your phone again as all your settings (Google Account, Facebook, Twitter) and your personalised fonts, ringtone, wallpaper, widgets.... all get restored back.
u shud even do apps2ext ..

Someone answered this, but I wanted to help be really clear. When you do a nandroid backup, it backs up the ROM, your data (save for the SDCard) and the cache. Basically, if you hork your device (which I do a lot), you can restore from the nandroid backup right from recovery (hold down the X key while powering on).
The nice thing is that you really can't mess up. Make sure to take a backup before you play, and if you don't like what you see a few hours later, you can safely fully restore and be right back where you were on the old ROM with your old data.
Cheers!

correct ..
Scenario where Nandroid backup comes in handy
Ok, so now you are on Miui ROM ver.1.5.27. You have gone thru the trouble of setting up your Google account, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
You have personalised it with your own ringtone, fonts, widgets and wallpaper.
Then u found out Miui ROM got new update today to ver.1.6.5 and you are eager to go flash it now until you forget to make Nandroid backup...thinking what could go wrong.
So u go ahead and flash this new Miui ROM ver.1.6.5 but then you found out that it drains battery life crazy or maybe this is the Chinese version.
So u decided to go back to Miui ROM ver.1.5.27.
But because you forgotten to make a Nandroid backup, you have to go thru the whole process of flashing the zip file, the Gapps and then setting up your Google account, Facebook, Twitter, etc and also setting up your personalised ringtone, wallpaper, fonts, widgets, etc.
Now... had u done a Nandroid backup of Miui ROM ver.1.5.27 before you flash a newer version, then your life would be easier because all you need to do is restore back the Nandroid backup of Miui ROM ver.1.5.27 and u don't have to setup your phone again as all your settings (Google Account, Facebook, Twitter) and your personalised fonts, ringtone, wallpaper, widgets.... all get restored back.
My phone was bricked yesterday. Then I used SMF to recover, so I turned back to v10a. (from smart flash tool)
Installed Rom manager rooted and installed marvel rom.
Then I tried miui 2.1 rom.
Then i tried to restore my backup(marvel) what i did with rom manager. Phone bricked again.(Blue screen on android)
Then I used SMF to recover again. --> v10a.
Now in rom manager pressin flash cwm button in menu but nothing happens. I rooted phone. Root is workin well in other programs like Titanum. Tried reboot into recovery causes factory reset bcs of cwm i think.
Any way to solve this problem? Or can I install zipaligned rom like marvel, zeus without cwm? Like S/E tool. Power + volumeUp...
Did you do all the wipes before flashing the rom?
Didn't you missed any step?
I cant see even recovery menu. To wipe data/dalvik.
I coulnt flas cwm, so when Im trying to do reboot into recovery via Rom Manager, skips that menu(controlled with volume and power buttons dont know the name) and v10 is booting with factory reset.
Do you have an internet connection when trying to flash cwm?
Trolling in the deep
Just root it again, reboot, install busybox, reboot, install cwm and all should work just fine

Yes I had internet. I installed Rom Manager from market.
I will follow this link. It gives you offical 20o Rom rooted and touch version of cwm. Hope it will work for me.
And I realized that I really missed LG's UI.

You probably forgot "wiping" before restoring your nandroid. Any this shall be a lesson. From now on you won't forget.
had the same problem before, i always had a bug installing CWM, caused factory reset everytime , but when i downloaded it again it works well..

I've never wiped before restoring a nandroid, and believe me I've flashed my OB a lot while i was debuting my Lezo mod.

I solved the problem. Now I have offical 20o ROM offical and rooted. Happy with that. Until stable CM7 or MIUI release I will stop trying ROMS.
So today my phone was on and everything was fine, then while I was charging it, went away from it a few minutes then came back it was on the boot menu. It now can not get past the boot menu ever.
I have ClockWork Mod recovery installed, and CM7.1 stable.
I did a "backup" via the ClockWork Mod Recovery of the system.
I am also quite tempted to get the CM9 RC2 installed. But screw it if it any kind of unstable. CM7.1 stable is unstable enough.
What should I do? I would prefer it if I did not lose all my stuff (like app notes etc).
Can I like just put my phone into Download Mode, place the CM9 RC2 on the root folder, then do the good old
cyanogenmodWiki Full Update Guide method via recovery
without losing anything?

If you have done a "backup" from CWM before the failure just restore that.
From CWM menu try to do a dalvic and cache clean up. also clear init.d and nstool settings and try to reboot
If you want to be more adventurus and loose your contacts, sms, settings...and other stuff from CWM do full wipe and cache and dalvic and then install your favorite rom.
I tried to installthe Gnexus port rom jr03l 4.1.1 rc 10. I was on TAJB'S Jellybean rom with devil kernel. I tried to install the rom as per the instructions given. I did a nandroid backup of the current rom before attempting to do so. The flash failed as the phone rebooted into recovery after a few minutes. I tried to restore from my nandroid backup. That failed too and it came up with a message of "no free space". I rebooted the phone and the phone automatically tried to flash the gnexus port rom again. It failed rebooted and got stuck on the devil kernel screen.
After about 20 mins, i took the battery out and rebooted into recovery. I really dont know where to go from here. I need to backup my efs folder too somehow.
I have a flash zip of the gnexus port rom, the tajb rom and a cm9 nightly in my internal sd card. I also have a nandroid backup of my cm9 rom.
Any help will be greatlyy appreciated!!!
Please help me.

hi all, i made an xda account because i really cant understand whats going on with my phone
HTC One M8 running Android 6.0 (rooted)
so after rooting my phone, i proceeded to install xposed.
i flashed the zip - no problem
i installed the apk, and after choosing 4/5 modules that i wanted, i went ahead and enabled them all and rebooted to activate them.
this is where the problems started. my phone booted, however it kept on flashing a screen with the deafult One M8 wallpaper at me. after a few seconds, it came up with an error "com.android.systemui has stopped"
not sure what was going on, i went to twrp and directly restored my nandroid backup, but after waiting for 15 mins, i realised my phone was in bootloop, so i went back to twrp and did a factory reset and restored my nandroid. but again, it went into bootloop. i tried factory resetting and restoring 3 times before giving up.
my phone isnt connecting to my laptop anymore either, but if i need to flash anything i can do it with my sd card.
im not a complete noob but im still learning and ive never not been able to restore my nandroid.
thanks in advance for any help i can get

*. Flash xposed uninstaller zip and try booting your device. Link here - http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/uninstaller/
-->> use thisĀ» make a full wipe from recovery, then restore nandroid backup.
*.While restoring nand. from recovery, make a full wipe like wipe system etc.. Then restore your nand. Then you're good to go.
thanks a ton for your reply
i already tried flashing the uninstaller - didnt work
but ill try your second method. thanks once again

Hey, the 1st one won't works, Cuz you'd already did a factory data reset, so that's gonna be won't work. And you'd tried restoring nandroid over that, so that's failed.
I hope second one will works.

Deym!!
So, look at the One m8 forums, you'll get the workarounds.
I've found one here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...k-twrp-t3086860?_e_pi_=7,PAGE_ID10,5801529172
@chaitra26, either DL any custom ROMs and flash it via custom recovery [Twrp].
Look here for custom ROMs - https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development?
Regarding that '' no OS installed'' error, that's common when you try to reboot your device from twrp without installing any system images /ROMs.
FYI - when you full wipe your device and tries to power up you'll get the same warning.
