Getting missing sim card message after installing a custom ROM.
Do I neeed to do anything after installing ROM?
Thanks to XDA-Developers! I am really enjoying my TYTN II experience!
Moved as not ROM Dev.
Shouldn't need to do anything if using the same sim as previous or sim unlocked if different.
Clean the sim and make sure tight in sometimes peeps slide a piece of card behind sim to make tight.
got it to work. thanks a lot.
I thought there was still something to be done or installed.

Hi, I
’ve had a Orange HTC Kaiser for ages (WM6), I got it unlocked by www.imei-check.co.uk and put my O2 sim in and everything worked fine until the phone crashed. Now if I put my O2 sim in the phone just says ‘The SIM card is missing’. I have tried everything I’ve put new rom’s on (I'm now on WM6.1), new radio, asked it nicely and I’ve run the unlocking software I found on this site and that told me the phone as unlocked??! Whatever I try the damn thing WON’T WORK!!!!! I’ve tried everything! Any help much appreciated! Oh and If I put an Orange sim card in the phone works.
Cheers
Crooky.
did you put your O2 sim into another phone to see if it works?
Yes, it's currently in a HTC M3100 working fine.
its probably just a contact problem, just try cleaning the sim, and the contact points on the kaiser or putting a piece of paper behind the sim and insert it
UNBELIVABLE! I can’t tell you how much work I’ve put into sorting this phone and when I read you’re reply I must admit I thought ‘Yeah Right!’ but I looked at the sim and it is slightly curved when it’s out of the phone, I put it in an held the sim on the contacts and it bloody worked!!!!!!! You’re a genius! Thanks for your help!
Hey guys,
I just bought a Tilt and have this 'sim card missing' problem. At times I've been able to get the sim card working but after a reset the problem is there again and no way to fix it.
I've tried putting a piece of paper there and everything but it just doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Using 1.65.24.36 radio and HD_III_Omnia_WWE with a 3.29 SPL....
It's driving me nuts fellas. Please help...
Also a picture of how to place the piece of paper would be appreciated as I have no other solution. Cheers guys
You should have posted this in the older thread.
I'm pretty desperate here mate. All the other threads have a solution which involved putting a piece of paper in there.
I'd like to know where to put the piece of paper(maybe I'm going wrong?) and also whether there are some other possible solutions.
Well then maybe post your question in the thread that has discussed it.
So, some updates.
I've gotten my network to work(which confirms it isn't a hardware issue)...but as soon as I soft-reset it it will say "sim card missing" again....it might be on the 1st reset or on the 3rd etc.
Using L26v12 FULL rom and I've tried 3 radios so far and all have the same problem.
Is it the L26 ROM causing the problem or...?
I don't know if this might help, it's more of a marginal remark to your problem:
When i got my kaiser, stock rom didn't read my sim at all - reason for it was the sim card was older then 2004 (or so).
I got a new one from my provider and it worked perfectly (fairly simple/fast/cheap procedure, at least concerning my provider)
Dunno, but maybe the SIM architecture has issues with different roms, similar to this issue of mine.
Okay, this has been resolved. Today I bought a new SIM card from my provider for $4 and that solved the problem.
You were right brokenlute, it's a compatibility issue between the device and the SIM card. What amazes me though, is why it worked periodically at all?!?!?!
This has been resolved!
I feel much better now

This is why AT&T will make everyone replace their SIM card if they try to do an equipment upgrade with a SIM older then 24 months.
Probably, no AT&T in Australia though
i have a problem with my diamond. It only reads my sim card, wont read any other sim card that is inserted. It was originally using XOR morna rom, done a new flash and still same problem. Re-flashed with a original HTC rom, but still same problem. I some how think its not a software problem as it has been flashed/hard-reset numerous times.
Any one know what problem can be or if anyone has same problem, with solution
thanks
kerim
Mmmm...
When you say it only reads 'your' SIM card, do you mean it's SIM locked. If you're on vodafone for instance, and you put another vodafone SIM in, does it recognise that? Or do you mean it won't allow any other SIM at all... even if the network's the same?
If it's the first option, your device is obviously SIM locked, if it's the second option, have you installed any security software like Ultimate Theft Alert, or similar, which will also block any other SIMs??
its not sim locked, it was an unbranded phone when i first got it. I am on three and have tried 3 different other three sim cards and also a vodaphone simcard, non of them work.
Its like there is no sim card at all. Im starting to thinbk its a hardware problem not software as i have flashed it few times now with different roms
any ideas, i need to get this working urgently
Mmmm...
Definitely sounds like a hardware issue to me. It's probably time to send it away
Hey Kerm when you put the sim cards does it ask you for for the pin??? or what you could do is see if you can try to clean the sim contact in your phone or run a eraser over the sim card contact and see if there is a difference
had a problem with an unreadable sim-card a few months ago as well; A new sim-card solved my problem... But since you are having trouble with 3 different cards, it might be a hardware problem in your case indeed.
doesnt ask for any pins, as soon as the phone starts up with another sim card inserted, it says no sim card. When it starts up with mu simcard inserted, phone function runs as normal, i can see reception bars etc
I had the same problem when i received my diamond. Tried several sim cards but none was recognized.
I received a new phone because it was a hardware failure.
Sounds like mu has a way of making a new kinda sim lock that only works with there phones ,I would digg a lil deeper and make sure its not a sim lock on your phone
what do you mean by MU, couldnt make it out. How can i find out about if its been sim locked

Is the sim card for Orange as well? Could be a case where the phone requires unlocking.
hi thanks for that yes the sim card is for orange as I have an orange phone already which it works ok in
Is the phone brand new, or second hand. Try blowing into the sim tray incase there is any dust on the contacts. Also give the sim a wipe.
go to your orange shop and ask for a new simcard.
have had the same problem here with my phone: after a few weeks, my simcard wasn't recognised any more. Got a new card, and all works fine again...
My devices sometimes cannot read the sim card, and some times it can. No matter what sim I use, what ROM I use, and I've even tried another sim card reader, but the problem seem to be something else.
Anyone experienced this?
I've been looking for a way to emulate a sim card, like a soft sim solution, but it seem this is not easy..
Maybe it's time to let the old m7 retire...
Anyway, thanks to all contributors in this community, it's been awesome. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Maybe the sim card isn't making a good contact when inserted in the tray, A few ppl got a similar issue and used paper to shim the sim card (not recommended since your sim tray can get stuck). I would try another sim first...

Yes, that's a common issue. The first steps was to use a little tape on the sim, second step was to try another sim, third step was to open the device and take out the sim reader, clean it with ethanol, check every pin and so on, then I tried another sim reader, but the problem still remains.
I too have the same problem, of signal on and off. I think the device detected the SIM card as it asked for PIN to unlock. I tried the *#*#4636#*#* to choose WCDMA only / preferred, but still same problem. So, did you retire the beautiful phone of yours?

Since not even replacing the sim reader solved the problem, it can no longer be used as a phone.
And anyway, the battery is getting seriously old, so when my dogs destroyed my remote control, the good old HTC one m7 now have a new life, filled with joy and happiness.
Anymote app is nice, and m7 are now a media control hub in my living room.
Since April 29 2013 this device have improved my life quality, with the good help from this great community on XDA.
