I agree, it seems hard to find a way how to upgrade your windows software to 6.5 or even the new 7.
I find it very difficult to get android yet everyone talks about... there is not website for it..its all hunting which is stupid. Not even torrents have them.

There is an excellent thread in the ROM forum giving step by step instructions. Its a bit daunting flashing the first ROM but after you have done it once or twice its easy
only problem is there are too many ROMs to choose from
... and those pesky chefs keep bringing out updates

I have just got a HTC Diamond, this is my first WM phone (had IPAQ –non hone in the past). I have spent the last few days reading many threads, on many subjects. I am now familiar the language used here i.e. cooked ROM etc.
My question is really can someone supply in a simple thread a quick 1-2-3 guide on how to start loading and trying different ROMS. i.e. Tools\Software required, how to backup original manufactures ROM, How to install new ROMs etc etc.
I have used the search button and found lots of info, much of which is not related to Diamond so not sure if it is relevant.
I may get shot don for this; however I am sure there are many people in the same situation as me, and with the popularity of the Diamond more to come.
Any positive feedback welcomed

1. Flash with HardSPL(IMO)
2. Flash with new ROM (Panoshas IMO)
3. Enjoy!! Beware fast moving Jewels after ROM update can cause injury

once you have a hardspl installed on your device you can flash any rom you like to try. (flashing hardspl causes your device to reset just like it is a new device.)
From this point you just need to read and learn from the link above.

I just have an issue when I am trying to upgrade my ROM
I download WM6.1 from the HTC.com and upgrade my older wm6.0
After that I want to change that ROM with a new one (cooked/normal) but every time I try to do this the setup failed and gives me an error message
So I can’t change the ROM at all
Ii have tried diff ROM but in vain
I don’t know what to do i am new in this field plz give me a hand
You need to be alot more specific
1. did you use jumpSPL---HardSPL what version
2. What phone are you using, If a Tilt then the htc rom wont work unless you have done step 1.
3. Did you read how to do this (custom roms)
4. Why didnt you post in the correct section, you should not have even posted a new thread because your answers are in the rom section in the stickys.
Im not trying to sound like a jerk, but you need to read. If you just don't know what your doing then don't.

and i read how to setup custom ROM and done exactly what i have read

of course it can, and most of us actually do, there is an entire forum section dedicated to that topic, called "BlueAngel Mobile 6"
There you can find several threads starting with the word [Release] and some stating wm6.5 build XXXXX, those are the threads with the roms.
for instructions, make sure to read the wiki first, there is a wizard (step by step guide, not the device ) on how to upgrade, to be found -=here=-.
you click you are coming from wm2003, want to go to WM6, and then select your pc's operating system, and then it tells you what to do, please make sure to read all the steps at least once, before you begin the actual process and make sure not to skip anything, even if it seems unrelated, it is all essential to the process.
i say that, because many people start posting here, once they have a problem, and nearly all of them forgot or skipped something.

I dont know if iam posting in the right area, this thread may be posted but i couldnt find it! I'm a noob user to X1 someone plz help me to with upgrading WM 6.1 to WM 6.5 so i can get "Touch-IT_BT_23541_2.1" on my phone. I have been tried to flash this rom to my phone for like 2 days now but it keep getting stuck at the loading screen (the screen after the tricolour screen)!

hardSPL will make yoou able to flash a wm6.5 ROM.

I did it like this:
1. Install Hard_SPL.
2. Download a different rom, unrar it and run the RUU (RomUpdateUtility).

I started ROM Update Utility... next..next...then shows my image version (2.03.414.2).. Update To 1.40.OliNex..next.....next....then starts update.. 0% .. and ERROR The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone....

It's Vital that you READ the guides on XDA for flashing your phone.
All your problems are answered in the forum so you really didn't need to post this. Upgrading your phone from a WM5 to 6.5 is a big leap and Don't expect it to magically fix any issues you may already have with the current version of WM.
You will need to learn how to MTTY if you plan on flashing your phone after a 6.5 rom upgrade because it's not as easy as it used to be.
There is a helpful serach function on the forum I suggest you use it before anyone else wastes their breath.

You should have used Olinex SPL before even thinking about flashing your phone
Thinking about it now... you should have bought the diamond unlocker as it's a better solution.
You have to use the MTTY method before flashing with a 6.5 rom as your memory space can be changed to acommodate more/less modules for the ROM. If you don't use MTTY then your phone will fail.
