Hey XDA,
I've had the G1 for more than a year and a half now, and with all these new phones coming out im really considering a nexus one. But there are allota questions i still have to ask that pertain to people that actually have the phone. I'd appreciate any help.
1. I'm sick and tired of getting the newest "hottest" phone, and then realizing theres so much more just around the corner. With the EVO 4G coming out, the HTC Desire on the horizon, the new Iphone announcement most likely coming in summer - i just want to know if the nexus one is "futureproof". I've been flashing ROMs to my g1 just to keep it as close to the newest and greatest android i can get on it, but i really know now with all these snapdragon processor phones coming out the g1 aint gonna cut it. What do you guys think about the nexus one being futureproof? I'm most likely going to be flashing the latest Cynanogen or the new Desire ROMs on it when I get it. Will cooked ROMs enable me to be on par wiht the competition the Nexus will get in the coming months?
2. How does the Nexus One compare to the HTC Desire? I know they are pretty much the same phone but looking at some reviews, it seems like the Desire is much more highly touted. Since I can get the Desire ROM on my Nexus One when I get it, will the two phones really function that different? Is there a noticable speed boost with that extra about 70MB of RAM the Desire has? I've heard some things about the screen being very responsive - is the screen on the Desire different from the Nexus One? Really, what's so great about the Desire the Nexus One doesn't have?
3. Really. How fast is the Nexus One, stock and with a Cynanogen ROM? Do livewallpapers work flawlessly? Does switching from app to app happen blazing fast?
4. Is the screen that bad to use in the sunlight where its pretty much rendered unusable? I'd like to know from you guys experiencing the phone.
5. About that reception issue the Nexus One is having, is there a really high cahnce the phone I order will have the issue at this point? Is the signal reception issues really bad where I will have that much trouble getting 3g? How bad is it really? I live in NY. So if anyone of u guys live here i'd appreciate your view.

Like I always say, these are all based on my opinion and experience. You or others might think otherwise...
1- IMO the N1 will be a keeper for quiet awhile, although there might be great phones that are out or coming out, they are less likely to have the latest updates since they arent google devices, they alsi wont get as much attention from the devs compared to the N1‚ just like the G1 to Hero/Mytouch.
2- I consider the desire to be an N1 with sense UI, they're very similar, except for a few things like N1’s noise cancellation features which the desire won't have, anything the desire has however, you have the option to have in the N1 when you flash Modaco's Alpha version of the desire. ( I should say its great for being an Alpha version only).
3- I cannot stress how fast this phone is. live wallpaper works flawlessly and you have Cyanogen, Enomther, Kingklicks and other ROMs available that makes it even better.
4-AMOLED isn't as great as SUPER AMOLED, but with the auto brightness tweak that Enom and Cyan and Modaco have in their ROMs make it good enough for me.
5- I never had a problem with my order or my device, and I ordered it January so they probably fixed minor issues by now to avoid returns, still I suggest you give it a few days before unlocking and rooting ur phone just incase... As far as signal goes I think its all about the network you're on, and since the N1 will be available to all carriers if not already, pick the network that suits u best.

1. Nexus one ftw, i just got my nexus one over the HTC desire paying around $260 more for nexus. Reason nexus got many pros n zero cons. Nexus one is one phone gonna live more than 2 years coz its google branded and sold by google and at max only a 1.5 ghz phone can be out in the market and its not gonna happen till mid 2011. Nexus got OC, it is developer friendly it got a big developer support, i know how it feels not to have a good developer backbone. We got all the funky, risk taking deveopers here which is going to unlikely with any other phone. Most G1 developers shifted to N1. For the screen i travel a lot around the worls and nexus has been with me in the brightest SUN. If you make the brightness around 1/2 u can see most stuff on screen, for text reading u need to turn it to full, same was with my Hero, Magic, G1 and Liquid.
For the reception Nexus is the only phone i got which has 2 bars in the basement of my mall which is 2 floor underground.
About EVO, i may have one of the biggest hand but handling HTC HD2 was nothing like holding a monster, its barely gonna look good in ur hand, u will feel awkward n clarity of Nexus will be more due to higher dpi of Nexus. and for EVO on NExus will surely run faster due to the devs we have here. Everything will be ported to nexus. Nexus will have best of both worlds VANILLA (CYANOGEN) and Sense(Paulobrien{Modaco}.
For the speed i currently have more than 413 apps on my phone last i checked n it is still faster than stock nexus one ( U know stock isnt gonna be slow). i get no Lag nothing, NO FC n battery lasts around 14-15 hours ( I use it at full brightness coz i am mostly outside and i got wifi always on, twitter checks every 5 min, 3g always on, Web browsing on the go sites like xda and gizmodo etc, n play my favourite game asphalt(almost finished, was released around 5 days ago n it is a long game), i got no complaints with nexus n i ordered it with a dock coz dock is awesome
About the Build quality- My dad threw my phone in anger on a hard marble floor from around 6 feet and it bounced 3-4 times on floor. no scratch nothing, guess i was lucky (dont try this)

Im having the exact same problem as you... I have the g1 currently and love the roms and all the work that the devs have put into it, but my g1 isn't cutting it anymore and i need an upgrade. I was looking at the HTC desire (im in the UK) which on tmobile will be considerably cheaper than the N1 when it gets released, but I am dubious whether the Desire is going to be right for me. I really want a phone that a lot of the devs will support so it can be as fun as the g1 was for me
Buy one i just got mine two days ago, best android phone, better then the iphone in every sense, if your into complete freedom and customization you will love it....

wrd up man, the g1 was hella fun. but with the nexus one out now, im definitely looking for something better than the g1 - and i want that same fun, flashing different ROMs, customizing the hell out of it, showing it off, it was great. definitely stuck on purchasing the n1 though because its alot of money to invest when there are more phones just around the cornerrr
Im almost positive you guys will love the N1, specially coming from a G1. For me it'll take a lot for the competing phones to pass up the N1, unless they come out with a dual processor phone that looks as pretty as the N1, then its time to switch to a new phone.
okay so I have a g1 right now but I'm going to upgrade and I came down to the nexus or the mytouch slide and I want to pick the right phone because if I make the wrong decision I will have to keep the phone for almost 2 years for my next upgrade. I heard the mytouch looks smooth and the htc sense theme is cool. But the nexus one has a better screen the the mytouch and it can compete with others but its media,contact, and message display is oldschool kind of like the g1 so I'm kind of stuck which one should i get

I don't know what actual hardware improvements are on the Slide other than the keyboard
but it can't be too much since they are releasing the Slide's updated sense on the oringinal MT3G
I say go open source, easily unlockable, completley customizable nexus one!

The new mytouch slide has better specs and a slightly bigger screen, but still well below the nexus one.
I'd go with the nexus one, the hardware keyboard isn't worth it.

Haha, that is almost funny. MT3GS is 10 times the phone of the G1. Either way, this thread should be in General and will get moved or closed very soon. With that said:
I have both, I love both. The N1, hands down, is way better but if you cant stand virtual keyboards, the MT3GS is very nice. Sense is great, the keyboard is layed out very nice and easy to type on. The phone is snappy and responsive, not slow AT ALL! The screen is a little larger then original MT3G/G1 but still a low resolution. They did, however make the OS look very nice on the phone. BUT, if you want to root, hack, modify and play with the phone go for the N1. They will, some day, root the Slide but the N1 will always be the dev's phone of choice. Hope this helps.
P.S. If this is going to be your phone for the next 2 years, I would go for the Nexus, it'll be able to handle whatever they through at it. Eventually the slower processor of the Slide wont be able to keep up.
I think the Nexus is way better. It has a better screen, better processor, more memory and it can run froyo. Also, if you root it, you can run the Sense UI. The only thing the Slide has on it's side is the slide out keyboard. I actually use my nexus to play all the old school snes and gba games and it plays it perfectly.
I own both, and both are awesome! It really comes down to the keyboard. Either way you will be happy. The mytouch has lots of cool features built in that aren't available on the nexus 1. It's bubbly and from what I've seen it actually has a better GPU than the nexus 1.
Personally I prefer the nexus 1 for me and the mytouch slide for my wife. If you don't plan on rooting your phone and flashing roms constantly than the mytouch is probably a better way to go. If you want to be able to customize everything and make sure you always have the latest and greatest, the nexus 1 is a safer bet.

The Slide actually doesn't have a better GPU, its just a lower resolution so it gets better scores.
The Galaxy S is supposedly coming to t-mobile and being announced on the 29th if you wanted to wait another month. It has the best hardware.. but i don't know about the UI.
I would go for the Nexus One! If you truely plan on keeping the phone for two years the Nexus One is a no brainer. The MT3GS hardware will be way behind in two years. The nexus one may be outdated in two years but the specs on the N1 should make it possible to keep up for quite a while.

Motorola actually plans on releasing a 2GHz Android powered phone by the end of the year according to several reputable websites. The Nexus in theory will be outdated by the beginning of next year.. then will come the dual core processors that are also in development.

I have both. Well, mytouch slide is for my wife but I'm in charge of getting it rooted and "played" with. I was very impressed at how fast it is for the specs. It is not slow at all, very fast but in the end, the nexus will keep up longer being it has the better hardware. Mytouch slide is pretty cool though imo. Very fast. Needs root. Root!

I second this.... In fact I'M in the exact same position. Get the nexus because it has a better camera and screen, or get the slide because you love the qwerty and like the simplicity of Sense UI.

I got a MT3GS, and I hated what T-Mo did to the interface. I *may* have done some things to the phone to get a different interface on it.
I suggest you have a read on the Slide forum. The recovery image is not currently writable, so to get into recovery you have to go through this song and and dance every time. Add to that the low resolution screen, and well, I wasn't 100% satisfied. I ordered a nexus one while I'm in the period where I can return the slide. It'll be here tomorrow. I'll post a comparison once I've tried them both out. (I thought I needed a hardware keyboard, but Swype has convinced me otherwise.)
In favor of the slide, it *is* really snappy, a huge upgrade from the G1. It feels to me like what the G1 should have been, not tripping over itself all of the time, and there *are* a lot of people working on ROMs for it. I'm sure in another few months it'll all settle down. The keyboard is not as nice as the G1's. If only I could have a device with the G1's keyboard, and the resolution and power of the Nexus One / iPhone 4. I'd drop $700 on that right now.

I also have had both. My advice would be to get the Nexus One which has wifi tethering no matter how you decide to run it, stock or rooted. Then keep the g1 handy with wifi turned on and minimal apps installed just for writing emails and whatever if you need a keyboard. I hate trying to write a professional message on the N1, but its more doable on a g1. That's it's only flaw.
If you have to use the phone often while driving, the Slide will be safer. But your better off to avoid the phone while driving, except for maps and music of course. And the voice-to-text is unbelievably accurate. So the N1 wins.
I would say what you plan on doing with the device is a big factor. If you want easy rooting, the N1 is the best ATM, but if rooting is a secondary concern, the upcoming Galaxy S series looks to be the top performer at least till the end of the year. The Slide is nice, but I doubt its staying potential, unless android get a lot more optimization; there are a few things I have read that would help though. (a new Dalvik VM called Dalvik turbo is one)
It didn't take long, I returned the slide shortly after getting the nexus one. With swype this phone is fantastic, and I can actually type faster than on the keyboard off the slide. Of course, now the vanguard or whatever it's called her been leaked, so if you really need the hardware keyboard, you could wait for that in September.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a Nexus One for some time now, I'm no stranger to Android, having owned a Droid 2, Droid Incredible, and now a Samsung Captivate that I use with work. I currently also have an iPhone 4 as my personal phone, and I was just given an HTC Surround and Samsung Focus to replace the Captivate with, so I have to decide which I like more. I love Android, I've always been more drawn to it than my iOS devices, although I do love my iPhone. Now that the Nexus One has been out for a year and has its "successor" (depending on who you ask), is it a good buy still? I'm tired of waiting for AT&T to come out with something new that's a real killer phone, I've been hearing whispers of the HTC Desire HD being in testing, and the Moto Olympus being announced at CES. I'd get a Nexus S if I had T-Mobile and it had a microSD slot, but other than a larger screen and NFC capability, I don't see any real upgrade the S brings. What does everyone think, if I get this Nexus One is it a great buy and I'll enjoy it for awhile, or should I save my money and just wait longer?
PS, I know I own too many phones I can't help it! 3 phone lines will do that to ya
I barely got my nexus one so I would give you my own personal feedback.
Cons:
1.battery is some what horrible under medium to heavy use you can always tweak the phone to make last longer but sometimes is a pain in the butt.
2. 512mb of storage is a step back having to always watch what you installed, once again you can tweak it and make it less of an issue.
3. touch screen feedback is not the best like other phones that are out there. also having some multitouch issues on all models but I hardly notice the issue.
4. My personal issue not having a call and end keys is a pain but that just me been picky.
5. another personal opinion camera its not the greatest in my opinion.
Pros:
1. I got the phone for 295 under no contract that's a awesome deal I think.
2. will get gingerbread soon.
3. Having stock android makes things so much better I could of bought many android phones but the lack of updates made think twice of spending 300 plus.
4 this is a big one for me having to tether and having hotspot internet without rooting makes me so happy.
5. Adobe flash I love having flash for the same reason I didn't buy the nokia n8.
I know for a fact next year will be a big year for android if you wanna wait.
I have my nexus a year now, bought it when it just came out. I can agree with josemedina1983. Nexus is mine longest phone because it never got bored, there is always something new to find out, and google bringing the always the new android version makes the N1 up to date. All the new HTC phones are almost like the Nexus, some have more space to install apps on but that's it.
The only thing that bothers me a bit is the touch screen, it works great with apps but soon as you want to play games that require multi touch it's a nightmare.
I like mine N1 it has a great design works great love the trackball (miss it on new models) the dock station is great. i think i wil keep using mine N1 till something really great comes (didn't find a phone to replace it). I don't like the looks of the Nexus s it really feels cheap.
I think N1 is still a good it has it's flaws specially if you want to play games on it.
I've had my N1 for a few months, here's my take:
OS: Froyo with eventual Gingerbread
- Huge community support on the current OS with 'in-view' plans for OTA update to latest OS.
- Lots and lots of ROMs for this puppy, you can hack this baby four ways from Friday.
- Rumors that Gingerbread on latest Nexus S still a little green - will hopefully be ripe when it gets to N1
Phone cons:
- POS multitouch support (doesn't mean it's not responsive to single thumb touch).
- only 512MB of internal memory (but you can root and get Apps2SD to make up for that) [on a side note, isn't 16GB of internal memory on the Nexus S enough!?!]
- Bad design on the power button, will most likely fail after a few months if the design hasn't been fixed (see link in my signature)
- No Gyroscope - but it's not like you don't have other phones to play games on
- No NFC - but how soon are people going to start using that anways?
Phone Pros:
- Been around for a while, huge support community (XDA FTW!).
- Lots of hacks and tweaks for the phone as well.
- Anything wrong with the phone has already been discovered.
- Lots of developers have it, but you don't see it out in the wild that much (unique 'special' factor).
- Still a high end processor for the next few months until the Tegra 2s come out.
- Probably get it cheaper now that the Nexus S is out.
If you can get it cheap without a contract then sure its still a good phone.
But I would not pay full price for it or go on a contract in order to get it at this point.
Its not a bad phone at all but the phone market moves soooo fast its blinding.
I'll be keeping mine another year and then getting whatever is newest once my contract is up.

It's taken me quite some time to track down one that's sub $500 with the AT&T 3G bands, so I'm weighing the options very carefully here. After playing around with the Nexus S for some time a few days ago, I personally didn't find anything on Gingerbread that really stood out to me from Froyo, and I have it running on my Incredible now. It would be really nice to get something that was completely free of any carrier or manufactor influence as far as updates go, and easily hacking other roms onto this thing seems to be really easy. The power button issue I've heard about from other people, but some say it's not too hard to fix, so that isn't too bad for me. Decisions, decisions.

If you own another android phone and still using it i dont see the point of buying another one especially having the incredible its a damn good phone I think the incredible,evo,nexus,hd2,droid x,g2 are the classic android phones of 2010. I would wait alittle bit and stack up those 300 for the next phone. I feel next year windows 7 nokias meego and android tablets i love having alot of OS options.

I have had my Nexus One 6 months and think it is a great phone. IMO one of the best looking phones made. I also have a Desire as my main phone and have used the Nexus to learn about rooting and custom roms. Its copped a hammering from experimenting but it has always come back to life. Google is defiantly your friend here LOL. If you have the spare $ and not to concerned with whats around the corner with the next gen Android its a good buy. But maybe that its 12 months since release a more current phone may be better. Try Nexus S. When it arrives in Australia I surely will get one. Good luck with your decision.

It's a good phone, but I wouldn't buy it now after a year it came out, unless you get it really cheap. With CES happening right now, you should definitely wait and see.
If I need to recommend a phone I would still recommend the N1 provided its cheaper than the NS
Definitely a phone worth getting, more ROMS then you'll ever know what to do with. I've been back and forth between MIUI, cyanogen and enomthers ROMS and have never been.disappointed. battery life is amazing with these ROMS. My nexus at 1.113 Ghz outperformed my friends droid X at 1.465 Ghz and his rooted Evo

Its not the best but the biggest problem I have is axis flipping and the snapping to match the axis of the other finger (Don't know what that's called officially). It's not the best video and neither of these problems really bother me in day to day use. I vote it's a great phone to own and will be for a few years yet. As for the power button i've had mine since last march and still no issues.
I still think you should wait the nexus one AT&T version are pretty rare and they still go for around 50 + bucks, more than the t-mo version.
Comes this february then I officially own a phone that lasts for a year. Lol I used to change phones a lot. I just tried to find the perfect one for me. pam there it is

Amazon.com deal on N1 too good to be true?
Been a long time follower of this forum but only just registered.
Looking to buy a Nexus one. It's going at $298 on Amazon from one of their eSellers. It is listed as new but most of the feedback on this seller refers to refurbished products - and sometimes when the buyer was expecting a new one. So I am really sceptical though it is very tempting to be able to get the phone for <$300.
Anyone here Ble to advise? Any better ideas on where I could look?
There are a lot of killer phones out there but....I like having one of the only phones that has Gingerbread without rooting (2.3.4). Exclusivity; I haven't seen one in the wild. Hotspot and tehering without rooting. Vanilla Android. While the touchscreen is buggy at times, I love my N1. I have had it for a year and never regretted my purchase. This is one of the phones that will be remembered for quite sometime IMO. A classic, as it were.
I have a Nexus One running cm7 theme Inexus and I love this phone. Its in great shape and never thought in my mind I would ever consider selling it. Everything about it since I first got it, does everything I want it to do. Now comes into the question. I'm with T-Mobile and been with them since the begining but I feel it's time to say goodbye to them for couple different reasons. Looks like I'm going to go with cincinnati bell and they told me I could use my Nexus One with them that was great news. When I was at the store I picked up the Galaxy S and felt pretty good.
Whats the pros and cons of Nexus One and the Galaxy S. Or even though the Galaxy S felt good not on same level of N1?

Don't know if it matters. I have had a nexus one. Later, on ATT I picked up a captivate. I personally loved the feel of it, but the gps issues and the lack of a camera flash were game breakers to me. However, the power in screen quality almost made up for it. But here I am, sold my captivate and have an att nexus one and still love it.
Well, honestly, I would never move away from the Nexus One for a Galaxy S at this moment in time... yeah, the phone has great features but lacks the build quality of the Nexus One... the "plastic" finish just doesn't cut it... too many surface scratches too easily!!
This is the input I'm looking for, thanks guys keep them coming. I don't want to regret getting rid of my N1 if the time comes. I wish the N1 speaker sounded just a lil bit better when listening to music. But not complaining cause my N1 has been out standing for me. My girl has a comet and the speaker when listening to music sounds like its coming from a high end stereo ha.
If the AT& -T-Mobile deal goes through, would you eventually be without a 3G signal once AT&T scaps the AWS band frequency? Does Cincinatti Bell roam onto TMO's towers?
Not sure good question. Where I live with T-Mobile I'm just outside the 3g coverage. I use wifi at home. 10mins up the road 3 g kicks in.

They haven't been clear yet on how the merge would affect current phones. But one would assume they would only use the EDGE network. Because of the time it would take to finalize the deal they would most likely be able to keep the network intact till the contract ends and either offer replacements or some sort of compensation for rendering the phones useless on their new network.
Has anybody had a galaxy and a nexus one? Do they run bout the same? I know galaxy Dosnt have a flash on camera. Looking for lil more pros and cons.
Trackball, and Trackball wake
I myself have had ample time to play with both devices as my lil bro has a nexus s and i have a nexus one yes the build quality by HTC is better than the Sammy but with 500 dollar phones you had better have a case on that sucker so the plastic feel would be out the widow there. Now the hardware in the Sammy is not that much better than that in the HTC and does not hold enough gains over my nexus to make me get it. And the ultimate deal breaker for me is and it may make me keep this nexus one until im forced to get rid of it and that is the trackball alerts. There is no way that I would be able to live without my trackball notifications and trackball wake. Just my 2 cents

My younger brother uses the SGS and when comparing the two.. I hate the feeling of the galaxy. Not too comfortable in my hand and the plastic feeling ughh (But its great with the otterbox commuter case) Comparing the two when playing some games (I don't play so I could really care less), sgs definitely runs it faster but no camera flash is terrible. I can't live without the flash, (I almost use the camera everyday! Even in the hospital!) the torch app is so useful too. Some hardware on sgs is better, but it's missing some stuff the nexus has. It's a tough decision between the two. I hope that putting the things in brackets sort of show that it really depends on how you're going to use your phone.
Since I have the nexus and the sgs isn't a major upgrade, I'm just gonna wait it out.
If I had to choose between the two, I would go for the nexus. (To be honest, I wouldn't go for either at the rate phones are coming out right now! Just hold on to your current for a bit more!)

+1 and +1! I always have my eye on the trackball for notifications. I guess I'm gonna have to get used to this soon though Reminds me if games like goldeneye back then.. damn that game. I dunno if it's just me but b/c of it, I play all fps games with the controller settings inverted! Can't get used to that, dunno how I'll get used to no ball!!

Having both, the galaxy s has an amazing screen, amazing! N1 feels. Better in hand. They both run just as fast once rommed.

I keeped the N1. I just love this phone. My girl brought back the huawei phone sucked and got the blaze. She loves it. Just need to root it and rom it ha.
love my n1, but i know sooner or later, probably sooner, i'm going to have to replace her. i was tempted with the ns, but just couldn't bring myself to buy a samsung product.
what specs would you need to retire your n1?
i would like a 4.0" super amoled equivalent screen, little faster processor and more internal memory. that's really it. the big killer is i love having stock android and first up on updates, but i know that will end pretty soon too. i just don't think i'll be able to wait for a n3.
probably galaxy s2 just cause it has quadbands and the reviews are really good. not really liking the sensation death grip so that cross that out

I got the HTC Sensation, don't really get much of a grip issue with the Sensation. Slick device, don't get low memory warnings anymore.

how does the screen on your sensation compare to the nexus?

I'm holding out for the Nexus 3. I won't buy a phone with any sort of third-party interface--I really like vanilla Android. And seeing how slow the phone manufacturers are to update the OS on their phones just reenforces my desire for a Nexus device that gets timely updates from Google. My friend with a G2 doesn't have Gingerbread yet and the phone has already been discontinued.
I'm waiting for a phone that says, "I'm going to be top dog for at least 6 months and relevant for 2 years."
Galaxy S2 would have qualified except it's not available where I live.
So I keep waiting...
1. must be android
2. must be HTC
3. must have full support for years to come
4. dual flash with high-res, amazing quality camera
5. light-up trackball
6. some kind of intense hardcore speakers with nice bass
7. call and end-call buttons (for some reason these dont exist anymore)
8. 3.7-4.1 inch super amoled screen
9. a lot of RAM
10. must have GPS, wifi, radio, bluetooth
11. maybe a qwerty keyboard?
12. 3.5mm headphone jack and accelerometer
13. must have AWS support
14. it must look sexy and turn heads
the n1 already has most of this.. lol
I'm watching the next Nexus as well.
I'm hoping for a 4.5" (or bigger would be nice) screen with monster rez and the quad-core Kal-El.
If Google's next Nexus has that?...You can count on me being one of the 1st in line for it!
Nexus 3 or Galaxy S 2. Can't decide until i play with a Galaxy S 2
Nexus 3. Tried the Sensation, and stock it just doesn't do it for me. I might revisit the phone after the new bootloader's delivered, though.
The HTC 3d looks really nice. I will still hold out until the start of next year when my contract runs out. Can't seem to like any phone enough for me to upgrade. Just hold out many nice phones are on there way. I check GSMarena daily for new phones but still none that I would love to have, yes I'm sad for checking every day.

The awesome HTC Sensation has replaced my N1!
The Sensation does look really nice I was a little tempted. I don't like how apple operate as a whole. So many thing's drive me crazy with apple. I've had a iPhone before promised myself never to get one again. Over priced, locked down, money spinning, flash incompatible, long clearance time for developed apps, the list could go on and on. Sorry rant over with. I'm hoping that the next Google based phone will be hot and powerful, as I like the way it's pure android.
I'm waiting to see how the N3 shapes up. I hope its quad-core.
As of right now, there isn't a phone to replace the N1. The N1 is still the primary Google Developer phone, so until that changes, I'm really not interested in changing phones.
The next developer phone will be the one that gets serious consideration from me. I'm still very much into the 'roll it yourself' tweak phase, so having an active developer community is pretty much a plus.
The SGS2 and the Sensation are both tempting, but aren't compelling enough to warrant an upgrade especially since my N1 is still going strong.
N3 is most likely, because I have a feeling that the sensation isn't going to get updates quickly because it runs sense.
I don't think any new phones are going to get trackballs anymore, and although I do miss my trackpad from my X1, and I love the trackball on my N1, it does take up a lot of screen real estate, which is why phones are going to drop them, and leave them for the "lower end- smaller screen" devices.
If the Sensation ran stock android, I would have bought it already.
Problem is, that I have even more plus with the 5 gig data, and tmo wants to charge me 10 bucks more a month for an identical plan with 3 less gigs of data.
Data isn't important now (only 1 gig a month the last 3 months) but when football season comes around, I will pop the 2 gig limit easily.
