Some noob questions.

Hey friends.
I have some questions which i can't seem to find the answer to.
1. what's all that deal with SPL? what exactly is that and why do i need to flash it before flashing the radio version? what do i have to watch out from in order to not bricking my phone?
2. I wanted to flash a radio version from ERE36B that was posted on modaco site.
I downloaded the zip, copied to the sdcard, flashed it using the amonra 1.7 recovery. it said that it was successfully flashed but the radio version hadn't changed. what did i do wrong? I wanted to flash using fastboot but there were no .img files posted. only after extracting the zip files there is an img file inside along with some other files that may be important.
3. why are there different versions of superboot for each build? I mean, after I used superboot once and rooted my phone - I won't have to use it ever again.

1. SPL stands for Second Program Loader. but you wont have to worry about it on the Nexus One. Its a different story for the G1.
2. If flashing the radio is successful then your baseband should be 4.04.00.03_2. And you might already had that radio if you just recently bought your phone.
3. Superboot version is not different. As long as you flash a rooted version of the rom then you will still retain root. But if you flash back to a stock rom, then you'll lose root. So always use nandroid to backup.

2.2 downgrade question

help....i have installed the 2.2 pre rooted with the radio i guess now i want to try out the CYANOGEN MOD 5.7 n1 rom now what is my steps can i just wipe then install like normal do i need to fastboot if so can u just write a quick guide please please
i have the old orignal nan backup can i just restore it???

just restore your nandroid and install CM... i suggest you downgrade the radio also. Don't use the froyo radio on a non froyo build.

how to i downgrade the radio i flash it or go into fast boot and how do i push it??? please help

if your on tmobile it shouldnt be a problem, im running fine on 2.1 after downgrading from 2.2 and i didnt flash the old radio back

After you flash the radio, reboot and wait until it boots back into recovery, then flash the ROM. Enjoy. Oh, remember to wipe everything first before u start flashing stuff

k i used the ere27 radio now i flashed it then wpe then installed cyanogen rom 5.7 seems to be working great??? thanks alot!!!!!!
if i decide to use 2.2 without radion update i can just flash it by wiping and then flashing it right???

@christian5277... try renaming the epf21b zip to PASSIMG.zip and reboot into recovery... the phone should pick up that and let you install it... else follow the steps here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850) with the epf21b rom...

[Q] How to Reflash ROM?

Lately I've been experiencing some problems with Overcome Kratos, so I was wondering how to reflash it. Do I need to go back to stock firmware and then flash Kratos, or can I just install it normally?
P.S. I've been hearing positive feedback for ROM's like BOCA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235813&highlight=boca) and MIUI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1224147&highlight=miui); how are these compared to Overcome?

if u got the "wipe" version then yeah just re-flash it from CWM , or if u hv "no wipe" just wipe everything and then flash it
