Hi,
I recently Installed the latest Cyanogen rom on my N1, and moved the apps to the SD card. I don't know what I may have done wrong, but now I can't open Shopper. I can't uninstall or update it either; sometimes the Market detects it as "update available" and sometimes as "free", but when I try to update or install it I get a warning sign on my notification bar, and the Market says it couldn't install the app.
Is there something I can do to solve the problem?
Thanks!
Do a wipe and start over.
I have tried everything that i know off but my apps come back to hunt me like a ghosts. I've gone to recovery and wipe everything in th list, reformat my SD card, and repartition it. Everytime I wipe and flash a new rom after a couple of minutes all my old apps get load up on my phone with out me doing nothing. I've been having some problems with my phone and i truly want to wipe it. any help will be appreciated.
As of Eclair, your apps are automatically re-installed when you sign-in after flashing a rom. I'm guessing it's the "Back up my data" option under Settings>Privacy settings that's handling the restore.
so if i don't want all my apps to restore on my next wipe & flash i should turn off both "back up my data" and "Automatic Restore"
I'm not entirely sure if that'll work or not because I really like my apps being restored.
Have you tried uninstalling the apps and forcing a google sync?
Hopefully I can be of some help for you, hit me up on gtalk if you need any more help.

I recall there being on-screen instructions during Google login....
Where it asks to backup your settings on Google don't check it.. then it won't backup or restore settings. (Including installed market apps)
I went ahead and uninstall all my apps, also unchecked "back up My data" and "Automatic Restore" and used Factory data Reset under Privacy Settings. Phone said it needed to reboot... it did.. all my apps loaded again
is there any app that does this? it's getting annoying to use astro file manager, checking all the apps i want to install, and then still giving permission to each app to be installed. tried searching, but yielded no relevant results.
I don't know whether you can do it via graphical UI, but surely you can use ADB and simple shell script to install from your PC.
Code:
for APP in `ls *.apk`; do
adb install $APP
done
I think it's possible also from terminal emulator with similar script - replace adb with pm, but I didn't test this one.

Are you restoring apps after a wipe/reset? Try titanium backup, it does backups and every data off every app and just by doing a batch restore everything goes back to how it was previously

Android Commander can do bulk install, just plug in your phone whilst on normal mode, dont activate mass storage, and you can batch install - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597098
Perhaps even this app can achieve the same result - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585085
Droid explorer can do this easily
thanks, everyone! yes, this was because i installed a new froyo rom(chromatic 4.4).
it took awhile, but i got android commander working, and was able to install all my apps using it.
just having a weird issue now;
so, as mentioned, i used android commander to install all my apps. they all seem to have installed on the phone, however, and not on the SD card. i have "allow application moving" checked, and "install location" set to 'automatic'. i am able to move the applications 1-by-1 in settings > manage applications > downloaded, then clicking on the application, and then pressing "move to sd card". why aren't the apps being installed to the sd card? how can i move them all at once? i really don't want to move each app, one at a time. thanks
That's the message I get when trying to install app fm the amazon store.
Change download directory perhaps? I can't find the setting for that . . ..
TIA
Did you check your settings for the one that allows non-Marketplace apps to install?

Yes, you have to enable non-marketplace apps in the settings or else it wont allow any apps other than those downloaded directly from the android app store. Its under Settings - Applications - Unknown sources.
Trying unchecking it and then checking it again. That worked for me when i was on auto-nootered stock.
I was able to get past this message by checking and unchecking Allow Non-Market Apps and rebooting, but I also created a system/app directory on the sd card and put my apks in there, this may or may not be necessary as I am still experimenting. I also made sure USB Debugging, Allow Mock Locations and Auto Mount were checked under the Development panel in NookColor Tools.

Where exactly do you find Settings - Applications - Unknown sources on an autonooted 3.0 Nook Color? If I go into Settings from the stock launcher, there is no tab for Applications. If I go into NookColor Tools I see two panels for Settings - one is for GSM which is all greyed out and one just reproduces the stock settings page. There is also a Manage Applications panel, which just shows installed applications.
update; no love
Thanks for the suggestions, but nothing's worked.
I have checked "Allow Non-Market Apps" under NookColor Tools (it was always checked). Interestingly, I am basically not able to uncheck this setting. I can uncheck it, but when I navigate away (or reboot) and then return to NookColor Tools, the box is checked (even though I unchecked it before).
I also made an /sdcard/system/app directory and confirmed that "USB debugging" and "Allow mock locations" are checked under settings>development.
No luck. When I try to install apps from the amazon store etc., I get the same error message: "Install blocked. Installation of download apks is not supported."
Thanks.

Try unchecking... then checking it again... without navigating away... then reboot (not really necessary)... and try it again.
Could it be that because it's a NC and the Apk is from Amazon?
If i were them, I'd make sure that my major comp didn't get the same love everyone else might get. i could be waaaaay off base tho.
I unchecked, and then immediately rechecked, without exiting NookColor Tools. I then rebooted, since the first time I did this without rebooting, I was still unable to install anything. I also found that I didn't need the dummy system folder on my sd card.

Here's my question to you. Do you have another Android device? If so try instaling it on that, if it doesn't work then you know it's the Apk file. And if it does then it might just be a compatible issue between Amazon and B&N.
Until you try everything, rule nothing out.
Swordsaint, I was expanding on my previous post for LanceNem's benefit.

Brothers,
Need ur help to enable power save for wifi ( hence running wifi make battery drain), also how i can stop automatic update service, each time i uninstall the new market its reinstalled again !! I hate it its so bad, also it take a lot of space of device memory.
with thx
Yea, it automatically updates the market and other google apps. WE can stop app form automatically updating by going to My apps and then choose a app and then deselecting the option Allow Automatic Updates --it can be done while installin apps too-- in description or similar. You can try it for market too. But, I don't think we can stop google from updating its system app.

The option allow automatic upgrading is available while installing an app from market.
Go to My Apps> Select a app> Uncheck Allow automatic updates.
I have attached images files if you want to see. Sorry for the zip file didn't have time to post image here.
It is good if you don't want other app to update automatically. Also, I searched for market but it is not there, think the OS manages system apps upgrade. You can search for if you want --may be you will find it.
All the best
Market app will install the update automaticly, no matter how many times you downgrade this app.
Maybe there is way to that, but i don't know how.
For other app, you can open the market app, then press menu button and select My Apps. Choose any apps that you don't want to automatic update, then uncheck the Allow Automatic Updating option.
Hope it help you out.
