Is it possible to reprogram a Tmobile G1 to use Verizion? If so can someone point me in the direction of where I can find the firmware/procedure for reprogramming. I got the phone for free just to try this so there is no loss if it gets bricked, I'm willing to try anything that might work. Thanks
Short Answer: No, not possible.
Long Answer: T-Mobile is a GSM network (uses a SIM card) while Verizon is a CDMA network (does not uses a SIM Card). Since the G1 is on a GSM network, you will not be able to get any signal from Verizon.
Just buy a droid or a droid incredible if you want an android phone on Verizon.

I have a question i just got my phone an it rooted first i need to known where is the folder for the bookmarks on the stock browser also where is the folder that has all the ringtones on the phone and where is the folder for the apk files that you download from like the market and ia there any othwr way to unlock your phone other them talking to verzion so you can usw your phone on any network or use any sim card
Your phone is cdma/lte. You cannot unlock it to use sim cards from gsm networks as it lacks a gsm radio. Likewise, you cannot use it on other lte networks as not all "flavors" of lte are the same (ie, different frequencies). At best, you would only be able to use it as a 3G phone on a cdma Carrier such as cricket and even then its functionality would be limited.
The big CDMA boys (i.e. Sprint and Verizon) will not let you move their phones between each other. Sprint will absolutely not allow you to activate a Bionic on their network without you doing illegal stuff. And it wouldn't work anyway because Verizon's 4G phones require a SIM for texts and calls. This SIM is not like the GSM SIMs on AT&T and T-Mobile. The Bionic is locked to Verizon.
You can search for the other stuff. I believe ringtones are in /system/media.
Hi my question is if I flashed the 883 radio image to my xt862 droid 3 will my phone still work on verizon as long as I do not put a gsm sim card in the phone. My phone is sim unlocked so it can work outside us with a sim but I would like for now the option of att prepaid like h2o or straight talk for $45 a month while in us and I have seen many people talking of how to flash 883 and phone works on att but nobody says if it still functions on verizon still. So I guess my main point to the question is if flash the radio image 883 will my phone still work as it does now with verizon but then if I pick up a prepaid sim card and put it in and select gsm for network it will function on the prepaid network till I remove it and then can I put the network settings back. The reason I ask it I still have 1yr and 2month till my contract is up with verizon and I would like to have the phone on att pre paid or straight talk after that to save money I love the phone but hate the cost of verizon and the data limits.
Thank you for any and all imput. Dennis
No but you can flash radios back and forth and change build.prop as needed and it seems to work.
Sent from my XT862 using XDA
883 and verizon
Thank you for the quick response and it is as I feared. Lol I guess all I can do is get all the files and info I will need and wait till my contract is up b4 I do it I am stuck on verizon for another yr and 2 months then I will flash it so I can save money. Again thank you for the clarity on this
Actually, the answer is yes, the XT883 radio can be programmed with QPST using a service programming file with VZW authentication values and PRL and it functions in Global mode with full CDMA/EvDO service and can be switched via the Mobile Networks menu to GSM.
I had my D3 setup like this although it was not activated on VZW at the time.

Is the phone sim unlocked? I don't know how it works with Sprint but that would be the case with GSM providers
If it's Sprint, it's CDMA.AT&T and T-Mobile are the only GSM providers in the US. However, it should work there if you get the SIM unlocked. The SIM unlock code is formulated based on the IMEI, so there are three ways to get it:
From Sprint. Probably the simplest, but tricky if you're not the phone's original owner.
Pay a site or unlocking service with the algorithm that decodes it from the IMEI. Usually runs around $10-$20.
Try the steps in this thread:

You can also try this app, but it only works on rooted phones running the original ROM:

Good luck.
How do i go about unlocking the Sim? I cant get the unlock box where I put in the code to come up!

Bro, A CDMA PHONE CANNOT BE UNLOCKED. IT WON'T EVEN WORK ON ANOTHER CDMA CARRIER LIKE VERIZON. ONLY SPRINT SIMs WILL WORK.
Make sure u buy a GSM phone if u plan 2 use it on another carrier.
But the phone uses GSM! It picks up the network here but I just cant get the unlock box

Then it simply isn't a Sprint handset. CDMA phones can only work on that particular network. The phone is custom-made just for that network
I bought an unlocked Rogers Moto X to use on AT&T's network but after fiddling around with the APN settings I'm still unable to get it to connect to LTE. HSPA works fine.
I called AT&T and they said they were unable to recognize my phone on their network that's why it cannot receive LTE? I'm using their nano sim.
I'm not sure if the previous user had modified the software so I'm attaching the about phone here.
Thanks for everyone's help in advance
It's not the phone, it is the programming on your sim card. You need AT&T to provision it for LTE. If you search you can find a few threads talking about similar problems.

Should I go to AT&T and get a new sim card from them? I called their customer service and technical support, haven't been very helpful, they keep blaming my phone.
Hello, I would like to start off by congratulating all the users and devs for building a nice community around the HTC Desire 510.
I have a Cricket HTC Desire 510 that I have just recently installed recovery and root on.
I have contacted Cricket and acquired the 8-digit Network SIM Unlock PIN, so that I can put my Virgin Mobile SIM Card in the phone and not be stuck on the "Network SIM Lock" page.
This is where I am stuck and need some advice, I would like to get this phone working in Virgin Mobile.
I have the Cricket phone carrier unlocked now with my Virgin Mobile SIM card in the phone, but I am unable to get any signal and when searching for Network Carriers in the mobile data menu, it only shows AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, and Edge Wireless.
Will I need to unlock basebands, flash a new radio, firmware or something else? I am still on Cricket stock rom, kernel, firmware, radio, ect.
I have heard of tools like CDMA Workshop and DFS Tools to flash phones with, but they usually referred to phones without sim cards in those tutorials.
Thank you for your help.
EDIT: It appears that even though I removed my Virgin Mobile SIM card from my previous phone, it still works normally, which may mean that what I am trying to do is not possible, please let me know, thank you.

It's not possible to do what you're trying to do! Virgin Mobile will not accept any phone that's from another carrier trust me I've tried it with a Samsung galaxy and they would not do it!
The MEID from your cricket phone is not in Virgin Mobile's system and they're never going to put it in there either!!
Edit: The SIM card in these types of phone's are only to get you an LTE signal... You can remove the SIM card and you'll still get 3G and be able to fully use the phone just without LTE so really putting the SIM in another phone isn't helping anything.
