So I'm attempting to buy an iPad to use it to show clients photos, instead of printing portfolios. So I turn to good ol' craigslist. Got 2 scam replies. I see they are getting more clever. lol.
#1:
Hey, sorry for the delayed response, but someone already bought the iPad and
picked it up. You might want to try and buy one where I bought mine at. It's
an auction site kind of like ebay that has quite a few iPads.
I am usually able to pick them up there between $130 and $160, I think it's so
cheap because the site is newer and there aren't many bidders yet. Anyways,
I'd recommend you shop there if your still in need of an iPad. The site is
called BIDSAROO.com. I just checked and it looks like they have one
ending soon and the bid is at $53 so far.
When I signed up they gave me this coupon to give to friends, but I haven't used
it yet. Your more than welcome to use it, but I think it expires tomorrow. It's
good for placing some free bids on any auction. The coupon is: free3042
Hope this helps you!
-Chad
P.S. Here is a little secret I'll pass on to you. Right now there is a glitch/hack
on the site that will allow you to block other people from bidding on the item.
When you place a bid, hold down the enter key until the auction counts down to 0.
This should allow you to win any auction instantly. But I'm not sure how long it
last, I'm sure the site is working on fixing the glitch/hack.

Hi, I am getting back to you regarding the 64GB 3G iPad from Craigslist
My name is Arianna and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
I am selling the ipad for $450 USD. I have attached some pics with it to this email.
The ipad is still available and I hope you are still interested. The ipad was bought brand new from Apple a few weeks ago.
About the ipad I can say it's in perfect shape, as I used it only for a few weeks. Included in the $450 price is everything that came with the ipad.
The ipad is here with me.
I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.
Please get back to me and let me know if you like the ipad if you're really interested in buying it.
Thanks,
Arianna

"Included in the $450 price is everything that came with the ipad"
Your $450 gets you *only* what came with the iPad, not the iPad itself.
"the ipad is here with me"
They're just hoping you'll skim over that since it doesn't really make any sense, not until you get the first part anyway...
Deception is fraud, so even though it doesn't say you're actually buying an iPad what they're doing is against the law.
Well also I am in nyc so how would she sell it to me if she's in England?

gotta disagree on that, many user on xda for example put USD and EURO even tho they are in the UK. i do that on Ebay also.
Not being able to do it in person is generally a red flag for me that it's a scam. I couldn't care less if the message comes from the Queen of England.

Whats weird about the picture lol of the Nexus 4?
I hope no one buys this device from retailers. If anything, retailers sell it for the same price as google will. I'll be purchasing the N4 in the next few months because i feel like they will pull another nexus 7 move and release a 32GB version in the next few months for the price of the 16GB Version. Im still sad about it.
Don't mind the thread. Just a little fun until the device releases.
EDIT: the joke is.. why is there a big *** blue samsung sticker above the phone? And hey, they will sell you a replacement battery for the nexus for since removing the battery is noob friendly for an additional 60$. Whose stoked to buy?

The consumer is likely an idiot if he pays that price for it too...

Hm... that retailer ships worldwide. That is probably why the price is high? ( some countries are not able to buy devices from google play store and people are willing to pay more? )
Ebay users that ship worldwide are selling it for $500+ too. ( before shipping )

Great retailer...
Samsung LG...Copied + Pasted info from Google Play (notice how it is incorrectly formatted and doesn't fit in the page's margins)...Massively Overpriced...need say more?
The Samsung logo is there on purpose to confuse consumer, people only know two brands, Apple and Samsung, most never even heard the name Android and can't grasp a concept of what an operating system is. So LG and Nexus are not enough buzzwords but a Samsung is. This retailer has horrible ethic.
Hey they're on Devon Ave in Chicago the Indian street...lol. Yeah I wouldn't trust this retailer. All of the electronic stores in that area are pretty fishy...only if you're desperate.
Hahaha SAMSUNG LG GOOGLE
Hope no one buys it
Hey, it has free shipping anyway
But dang, just take a look at the other phones they offer and their prices. I know a iPhone 5 might be a bit pricey, but I'm pretty sure a 16GB model isn't worth $1,099.99 lol; and even a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (which is a bit dated) is worth the same price...
smh
Come on, Nexus 4 official price is listed as 299$ and 349$, yet people are all charging up to double that price! Google should do something about it, it hinders Nexus 4´s sales. I understand them the first few weeks, where everyone is all crazy about the latest and greatest, but it has been over 2 weeks now...
I know, they can sell it at whatever price they please, but the Play Store should at least limit the volume sales. I know, me whining won´t change anything at all. Just wanted to get my frustration out.
Most of the resellers on eBay bought 3 to 5.
I would probably do the same thing in two years when a new phone comes out.
It's really profitable if Google screws up again.

What do you think they can do, exactly?
Someone in Istanbul bought 2 in the US, is using one he bought, and selling the other (8Gb) for $800.
Yeah NO THANKS.
I'm sure there are some people who were planning on keeping their device but in the face of a little profit decided to throw their item up for sale. That's what I did to both my Nexus 4 8GB. The are up to $500 on Ebay so I was content on waiting whatever amount of weeks that it takes for them to restock.

Ordered, thanks man.
That's gotta be a windup.
It'd be cheaper for the buyer to get a flight to the UK/US whichever is nearer and buy one from a shop..
Well... If you checked ebay sold nexus 4 history, some people do buy it up to $1,100.... So this guy is rightfully trying his luck
I never thought people would actually bought it for 3x msrp though.
31 people purchased a phone for 649/749... either he sold out and instead of cancelling the auction he jacked up the price to something WAY out of reach, either it's someone who hijacked an account and is collecting funds as fast as possible.
***Edit*** What's sad is he's selling the 8GB version for 549... + 100$ shipping to Canada. The US has free shipping, 19.99 Fed ex 2 days and 59.99 1 day...
lol, so some dickhead purchases 33 N4s and sells them with a $300+ markup.. so that's where all the stock went

I don't understand how people complain like this. Someone bought a good that was in short supply with high demand. They then resold it for market price. The person that bought it clearly thought it was worth what they paid for it. So big deal, why the hate?
I like my Nexus 4, but jeebers. Maybe I should sell it if people are really paying $750 for these phones. I could live with my Galaxy Nexus another month if needed.

That's it, I've decided - there are too many suckers out there with money to burn, so when the next most wanted mobile comes out (aka iCrap 5s/6) I'm going to re-mortgage my house and buy as many possible then flog them on ebay. (Then pay off my mortgage!)

I don't think so, these people are the scum of the earth, they don't create/produce anything of value, only parasitizing, I wouldn't mind if this type of activity was punished by pouring the hot oil in their angus through horn, like in the old days.
The average price of the sold units is ~$649, so nobody is buying them at the currently listed price. They probably jacked it up just to get attention and are preying someone buys at that ridiculous price.

Motorola also indicated that they will not support devices purchased from Google with MotoCare. They will only support direct Motorola.com purchases, which I think is rather ****ty since when I placed my order I did not know they were going to offer it direct.
