Help!! Nand bad move by me! - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my Nexus I've had Cyan, Desire, and Froyo today my Froyo started acting up so I was going to go back to Cy or Des well so I wouldn't get confused I had changed the name of the top fold to the back to says Cy, Des, and Froyo. Nandroid hates when you do that apparently but because now I get an error of "Error : Run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb!" Ive restored before but it was before I changed the name of the folder. Is there any way to fix my back ups so I can restore them?
The folder order would be Cy -> BDS-20100515-2336 -> then the back up files that nandroid makes

Sorry another case of should have searched before posting I panicked...plugging it into wall charger did the trick as said in other posts

lucky you. i got that EXACT error message so many times, but weak battery did not solve it for me. i had to give up and use a different memory card.

Another method that I saw that I read work is to do another back up and copy and paste them into the new folder it will ask you to overwrite them and you say yes. Its about a 3 min process then restore. I know that doesn't help you now but if it happens again try that.

Please Help phone wont start up

Fisrt let me start by saying hello to one and all great forum.
Right, to my problem i have had my g1 a month now and love it
have not rooted it yet as i have been reading over and over so that when
i do come to do it i wont f**k it up.
I was downloading and installing app from the market and i think i have installed one that is for a rooted phone only(well thats what the discriptive said) i didnt realise this until i had installed it and so i was testing the apps last nite then turned off my phone as usual when i went to bed, Well so turned it on this morning and it wont load past the Android Screen, i tryed to go into bootloader and itsjust a color screen with serial10 on it.
please tell me i havnt bricked my phone i didnt do anything to it
anyone help me please
You did not brick your phone, if worst comes to worst you can go ahead with the rooting steps and download the dreaimg.nbh from your rc package that is meant for your area and boot it through the bootloader
thanks whats happened to it, the serial 10 has now gone and its just the 4 coulours on screen with some text at top, i havnt taken out the battery i thought i might damage it is it ok to remove it
The multi color screen you are describing is the stock bootloader, I prefer people do not pull the battery out if at all possible, your phone is quite similar to a computer, would you unplug your computer when it crashes
no, your right i wouldnt, so really i have not a clue here what should i do now, i actually need this up and running its my only phone thanks
not bieng lazy either dude, trying to search but like i say i dont kow what i have done wrong so dont bnow solution to seach for
Find a thread on rooting your phone, there you can find your rc, and go from there, go ahead and root your phone while you are at it
not bieng funny mate but i dont want to root my phone until i am confident enought to do it, i upgraded this from 1.0 to 1.5 when i got it can i just not do that again with the 1.5 firmware, thanks
Sure, use the steps to downgrade for rooting, then just leave it go and within the next 72 hours you will get the cupcake ota update, so to recap, downgrade, wait for updates
ok, and thanks alot for the advice mate, i will root it but like i said when i understand exactly what i am doing, cheers
No problem, and thank you for taking your time to learn the system and getting familiar with what needs to be done, instead of rushing in and asking common questions
cheers mate, its the only way to learn, thanks again
sorry mate to bother agian, i just tryed to downgrade with 1.0 and white screen comes up it just says "not allowed" really stuck now
Did you do it in the bootloader(tri color screen) did you put the dreaimg.nbh on the root of your sd card and not change it to update.zip
What part of the world are you in so I can make sure you are using the right rc or it is a possiblity that you might have to make a gold card(which is a pain in the ass.....so I hear)
just realised now have to change it to update.zip
I am in Ireland
P.S. just changed the DREAMIMG-RC7.zip to update.zip and it didnt work
do i change the .NBH to update.zip
Nope,do not change it to update.zip, download rc7, extract the .nbh from inside and put it on the root of your sd, then use it through the bootloader
no. did that mate put the nbh on card into bootloader just said "not allowed" sorry for keeping you up man
does it make any difference that i deleted everything of the memory card by the way
i just thought of something this phone was bought in the U.S.A. would this make a difference when i iupdated it
it was with a U.K. 1.5 O/S
Hmmm, is your sdcard formated to fat32, it's the only filesystem that it will read in the bootloader, walk me through what it is doing
yes i formatted it, then copied the files back onto it that i had backed up, then i deleted them all again, so just putting the nbh onto a blank card
then start up the phone and bootloader, white screen comes up with "checking" then comes up "not allowed"
Hmmm....... I wonder why it is not allowing, maybe you are one of the unlucky ones who need a gold card, or maybe we can get a stock cupcake build to work in the recovery since it will be signed by your provider, let me look around a little bit and see if I can dig anything up

Help help help root problem

OK this is the deal, i bought a phone off someone from craigslist. i have no idea what this person has done on the phone it came as stock donut. no root or anything of the sort. and there is no way to contact the person to ask what or if they tried to do anything. i have been trying every which way and yes the search bar is my friend. and nothing. ive done this before MULTIPLE times i am not new to rooting and flashing. Everytime ive tried to load something it always says no signature(#), number sign for random file numbers, i have tried to downgrade everything spl, radio and down to rc29, and trying to figure out if i could downgrade the recovery to the original recovery not the 2 (e). ive stumbled upon the idea that i might be missing files. maybe the otacerts i believe. i searched that also and found someone only saying to reinstall rc29 THATS MY PROBLEM I CANT IT WONT LET ME. Please someone help before i bust my head open on my desk.
and sorry about the punctuation typing super fast and avoiding my boss.
No signature usually means the update isnt signed.... and you probably got the update.zip thats corrupt...
Ive tried 3 different downloads of every file aka different dev for each thing. Anything i try and put as Update or even left as Original such as the .nbh it all comes up no sig. is everything online corrupt?
You don't have a root hence no luck on roms.
.nbh is not flashed thru recovery. Put it on your sd, power down your phone and power up holding power and camera buttons. Phone should find DREAIMG.nbh and restore your device to RC29. From there, secure your root and it's business as usual. Good luck.

[Q] Anyway to restore 100% stock

Please don't say Odin 1 click as it does not go 100% back to stock.
The nv_data.bin and bml3 device are not as stock. I have FFFFFFF where my unlock code used to be and my unlock code no longer works.
Master Clear and then JF6 restore doesn't change these either. I find it hard to believe there is no way to get 100% back to new.
Any ideas?

Well it seems like this Phone is a bit like windows 95 when it comes to wiping and reloading it. Bits and pieces of other installs are left over? Wish I knew how to help you. Perhaps someone out there has a completely stock nandroid they could send you. I know there's one for the Vibrant.

Why did you send it back? I am curious how the /EFS directory gets built - it stores the IMEI related stuff and lock code data, but it doesn't get wiped with a Odin full restore.
I would think that if you put your phone in recovery mode, there should be an option to format the internal sd card. After you do that, just do a factory reset, and then run Odin One-Click back to JF6
Edit: There's not even a need for recovery mode. Go to Settings > SD card and phone storage > and then under Internal SD card you'll see "Format SD card".

Format SD card only formats the ~14GB that acts as an SD card that the user has access to. The 2GB that makes up all the system partitions is not touched. Some of it is rewritten when you do 1 click install - but not all.
With JF6 your NV_data.bin is not created like the original and the IMEI and BT files are dated from June - so the EFS partition is never rewritten. Maybe if you delete it is recreated, but i doubt it.

I bricked mine trying to go to Froyo. They sent it back to me with JH7 so no go :/ Sorry.
did anybody try calling att if you are a att cust they will give you the code for free.
over on the i9000 forum they say when froyo first came out if you left your sim in the phone when you flashed it would relock your phone.
can anybody verify that if they goto froyo with a unlocked captivate without the sim do they still get locked.
if so it might be a measure to prevent people from messing with the beta to much

Actually I did try it. In July, they said wait 60 days. Yesterday they input my IMEI and their system told them that the phone can't be unlocked - due to AT&T exlusivity. i am in the process of escalating, but it is hard to say what will happen.
It certainly appears that it is not as simple as waiting 60 days.

Those guys say what they think, but they make you call central to do certain functions - at least in the past. I guess I could go into a store and check, but I doubt I will do any better.

I'm curious about this too...it seems that once you mod the phone in any way it's never 100% stock again. I wonder if having the SIM in when a mod is done has anything to do with it - does anyone know if the SIM can be written to and, if so, if anything is written to it during a mod?
I've tried everything possible to get this phone 100% stock again in an effort to get Kies Mini to STOP giving me the "unrecognized" error, including cleaning Windows registry and trying on my Windows XP Pro partition - no go. Something, somewhere, is providing information to Kies Mini.
---Edit---
Dumb question about writing to SIM; but question about something being written to it during a mod - if left in - still stands. Anyone?

The SIM can only hold contact data - and very limited amount. I can almost guarantee that nothing is written to the SIM card.
Is Kies not recognizing the phone is plugged in , or refusing to upgrade because it is the wrong type? Unrecognized device by keys is usually due to Samsung drivers and reinstalling them has helped me.
But it seems that the only way to revert to 100% stock is via Samsung repair service.

Reflash HTC Wildfire, 3 Net Locked

Hey Guys, My HTC wildfire is net locked to 3, i have tried several times to install a custom rom via unrevoked 3 tool.
This is the process i went through:
downloaded rom(s) - have tried several
copied to SDcard
ran unrevoked 3
backed up
reset to factory settings + then wiped cache partition
install from SDcard > navigated to zipped rom
installation flashed up for a second then quit, does this everytime on any rom
reboot
checked software name everytime and is only coming up saying 2.1-update 1
any ideas on how i can get either unlocked 2.1 ROM or 2.2 ROM installed? is there anything i am doing wrong / missing
many thanks
w1ngs
You need to first debrand your WF. You do this by creating a Gold card.
I did mine by the Modaco method.
Google debrand wildfire and you'll see.
Good Luck
Ok nevermind, have found it, many thnks, now sitting with my debranded phone, flash time
Hmmh, still the same result when i came to flash the ROM. It opens then quits a second later. I now have a debranded phone.
Any ideas?
Well I can't offer you a solution but I can tell you that my Wildfire works on 3 without any need for the gold card method. Make sure you have added 3 network settings in wireless network settings. Sometimes custom ROMs don't pick this up.
Also, at the risk of sounding insulting, make sure you have paid your bill. I thought I had my bill set to direct debit but either the 3 customer service goons failed at setting this up or my bank wouldn't allow it. So for a couple of days I was thinking that my custom ROM wasn't working but actually it was 3 had cut me off.
just a small point here but a fairly substantial one, i am talking about flashing the wildfire to a different ROM, not having network issues, your comment was unhelpful as perhaps you did not read the original post. Thanks
Can anyone help?

Try reflashing as I had that problem once. And try a different memory card as I have killed 3 mem cards upto now!

[Q] Incorrect Product Code issues.

So, I'm getting really frustrated and reading isn't helping at all. I know there is plenty out there, but I can't seem to find a solution after spending probably 5 hours today on my phone trying to restore the correct product code on my phone so I can use kies mini to put it back to stock 2.2 android. I followed the directions exactly in this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880223 , all to no avail. I am able to pull my efs file from my phone and edit it just fine, but when I try to push the new edited file back to my phone, something doesnt work in the command prompt, and the window disappears before I can read what's going on.
I really don't know where to go from here. I feel stupid, as if I'm not saving the edited file to the correct place or something. anybody have a similar issue?
The reason I NEED to get this figured out is that I got this phone as a replacement and it came stock with 2.2 on it, so I need to get it back to that in order return it again, and it worries me that I can't get the product code switched back. Am I just SOL?
Have you tried super manger in market. Just make shore you mount data read / rewrite (r/rw). Or use root explorer if willing to buy it
