Hey guys
I'm using the latest Amon_RA recovery. I wanted to flash a rom, so I did a BART backup. I wasn't satisfied with the ROM though, so I decided to restore the backup, but I'm gettin this error all the time
Error : Run bart via console!
How can I run bart via console? And how can i restore my backup?
no one able to answer ? really need some help
I've seen that "run ... from the console" error message trying to do a Nandroid backup on Amon_RA before and the cause was that there wasn't enough free space on my SD card. Once I cleared some room it worked fine.
Might be the same thing in your case. Try moving some some stuff off the SD card and retry the BART restore.

It's getting annoying to have to wipe all data when flashing a rom. I hate backup apps because they're sometimes unreliable. I'd use adb pull but I have a lot of apps >_>
The easiest way to backup and restore your ext is with bart from the recovery console if you are using RA recovery. Other than that the only way to back up EXT with a computer is if you are running Linux.
So I'm running Fresh 2.1 and tried to upgrade to 2.3.3 last night, but it was putting it into an endless reboot. I made sure I wiped the cache and data so the only thing I can think of that's causing the problem is that I'm using apps2sd and didn't wipe my ext3 partition. Reflashed back to my 2.1 backup and things are back to running fine now thankfully. It's brought a few questions up for me, though
Before I go the route of wiping my ext3 partition for apps2sd I want to make sure I can still recover back to the way things were before in case the upgrade to 2.3.3 doesn't work. I use Clockwork ROM Manager with Nandroid to do my backups but when watching the backup take place it looks like it tries to mount the ext3 partition to back it up but fails. Honestly not fully familiar with how apps2sd really works, so I don't know if that failure during the nandroid backup means my apps on the ext3 partition aren't getting backed up. Would that mean that if I wiped the ext3 partition and tried to recover my 2.1 ROM that my apps would not be there?
I thought maybe I could just undo the apps2sd setup, do a backup and then I'd be fine. But I'm having trouble finding clear, up to date instructions for how to undo apps2sd.
If anyone can clarify any of my issues or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Could someone at least point me to some updated instructions for undoing apps2sd on the Sprint Hero?

The instructions you are looking for are here
Normally (at least in the RA recovery) when you go to the backup menu for nandroid, you can choose if you wish to backup normally or with the ext partition included (much bigger file, takes longer). Regardless, if you wipe your ext partition, and you need to nandroid back, the backup will work fine, you will just need to reinstall your applications.
I save myself some time when I need to do this by using "Shootme" (free on the market) and take screen shots of my apps, then I can just refer back to the screenies to find everything I need. Alternatively, you could use the ADB "pull" command and take a copy of your apps directory onto your computer, then push them back if needs be.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply, runngwlf. I guess either the version of Nandroid I have, ClockworkMod Recovery, or my phone doesn't support backing up with the ext. When I go into Nandroid, my only options are Backup, Restore & Advanced Restore. Choosing backup just goes straight into running the backup with no choices. During the backup it gives an error saying it couldn't mount the ext partition.
Thanks for confirming the backup will still work, just without my apps. Guess I'll give it a shot!

Hah! That little tidbit got me going in the right direction. Looking through the ClockworkMod i saw an option to install RA Recovery as an alternative boot recovery. Lo and behold, rebooting into RA Recovery gives me that ext backup option. Thanks again!
My S7 is stock HC 514, just installed CWM 3.2-4.0.1.4 and Superuser7. I did a Nandroid backup to my external sdcard. There were two errors reported at the completion concerning the external sdcard as if it tried to back it up. This might make sense as, how could it backup its content while writting to it at the same time? The backup was created on the external sdcard.
I was considering NVflashing to R2 and then CWM/R to R7. Has anyone tried to restore a Nandroid backup to go back to the original state? Will/should that work?
I have read posts mentioning "nvflash backup" but searching has found nothing on how to create a backup using nvflash.
Hi,
I have a Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE (7320) with Ichi Arlic Rom 4.0.4 for months now and everything run fine.
Today I got a few FC (first time ever with this rom) and I thought, better doing a nandroid backup before sth happens...
Well in the CWR hit the backup button...failed...everytime (even with cach/dalvic wipe) the backup freezed for hours...no way to do a backup.
When I restarted System I got a loop now...so I cannot save my data!
Q1: Is it possible to get usb mass to work?!
In Download Mode my PC recognized the tab, but no mass storage is mounted.
My CWR has v. 5.5.0.4. without a file manager so i even cannot delete my broken nandroid backups and my tab ran full.
Q2: When I reflash an old clear/empty nandroid backup (*.zip) does this delete my internal data?! Cause my Tab dont have an SDCard...
Thx in advance for tipps!!
Greetz, Rob
Re: [Q] Loop - does nandroid restore delete intern data?
To question 2, it will not delete your internal memory. You can use adb to pull info for your first question, but I'm not that familiar on how to use it.

You got something else going on. Restoring a nandriod will not delete data on the internal sd card.
What recovery are you using?

even with the error message the tablet is back alive...booting softly with all data!!
maybe the error occured cause I had no space left in the tab cause of all the broken nandroid backup attempts...
Now I quick do a backup and a clean flash...
Everything fine!
Thx Bro!!
Hi all !
I had OmniRom installed, and after trying to go back to my stock ROM via a CWM backup I had, I cannot restore backups from my external SD card anymore.
Whenever I try to restore a backup (either a newly made one or an old one), I have "error while restoring /data". The WM lock says "can't partition non mmcblk devide /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host/mmc1".
Backing up to the internal card and then restoring works.
I tried to move a backup from the external card to the internal card and then restoring, but it did not work (same error).
Any idea where this might come from ?
How can I solve this ?
Thanks !

Answering my own question : after reflashing boot.img from FXP250, restoring my backup worked ! I thought it was the one I had restored in the first place, but obviously I was wrong !
