How to tell if Rogers Htc Dream is rootable!! - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all I just got a refurb HTC dream, how do I tell if I can root and install the latest cyanogen on it?
Baseband: 62.52S.20.18U_3.22.20.17
Build: 1.85.631.5 146733 CL#33863 release-keys
THank you!

I think 1.85 was rootable via the flashrec method. Check out the One Click Root thread found in the Development section.

I have the same question.
my baseband version is 62.59S.20.23U_3.22.26.17
Build number is 1.89.631.1 146733 CL#94714 release-keys
If someone can help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance

FYI, you do not need to root this, as you should update it to Gingerbread first, but if you must, just install Z4root app and you will get root or you want to update it...just follow this guide you can do everything
Check this out! Links to useful Guides and " Banned " Documentaries
You can just flash SpeedMod kernel and your Froyo 2.2 will have root and CWM recovery. Simply follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444308
All the download links are there and working.
Gingerbread is indeed better OS but if you like 2.2 just do like in the guide.
