Yesterday I took my battery out of my phone to remove the dust from inside the phone. When i replaced the battery back into the phone, it booted up into the tri-color screen and has been there ever since. I haven't modified the phone since receiving it from AT&T at all. When i actually noticed the problem I tried to reset the phone through the hole on the bottom of the phone. At first, it booted up normally but was out of batteries since it had been running on a bright screen for a couple of hours. Thus it turned off immediately. I have tried to reset it again but it seems to do nothing. Since then when I put the battery back in and I turn the phone on it returns to the tri-colored screen and it says SERIAL in the bottom white area. When plugged into my computer it says USB in the white area. On the top of the tri colored screen, in the red area, it says:

SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8
I thought about downloading the newest ROM update from HTC but my phone wont sync with my computer, and the tutorial says it needs to in order to install properly. If anyone could help, please let me know!
Update!
I put the battery back into the phone and it booted up just fine....it was a little slow and worked normally for a couple of minutes. Soon it started to act up. When i plugged the phone into my computer it automatically started to freeze, when i unplugged it from the computer it would work just fine! I then turned my phone off again and now it is back to the tri-color screen again!
try hard-resetting the phone.
To do this, hold down the two soft keys at the front while pushing the stylus into the reset hole. Just make sure to back up any data you want, as it will delete it all (files, contacts, etc.)
Tried a Hard Reset
When I finished it, it just went back to that tri-colored screen. Now the phone will turn on every 10th time i try and work for a couple of minutes. When the screen turns off it wont turn back on when i push the power button. The green light still blinks though.
I have been having this exact same problem for a little while now, any help would be more than appreciated.
EDIT: Everything about the phone was AT&T stock ROM from Oct. '07.

hi all once again.i was using my kaiser yesterday then my phone went into tri screen.tried hard reset soft reset.phone reboots in tri screen.im using Duttys Official WM6.1 Rom 5.2.19716 UC.
ihave kais130 mfg /spl 1-0.0lipof /cpld-8 on screen.
if there is a solution to this i would appreciate help in resolving.thanks in advance
Another sad update!
Well as of this second my phone works okay...slower than usual....but in an hour or so the screen will turn off and the phone will stop working, i will take the battery out.....wait about 45 minutes and hope that it boots up normally. No one has any idea why this is happening to multiple people? I have had this phone for maybe 3-4 months. Is the failure rate that broad and fast on these phones???

This phone is ridiculous. Now if I keep the phone plugged into my computer so the screen wont time off, the phone works just as normal. The moment I unplug the phone from charging it decides to die on me after an hour or so!
this happened to me last nite.
spent hours and hours trying to fix.
ended up reflashing orig att rom..
everything is fine..
proceeded on to a cooked rom and all is well..
added some apps ..
so far -- awesome
Good News!
Magically my phone started syncing with my computer randomly. Thus it allowed me to flash the rom with the original ATT rom and so far my phone is back to normal working great!
tri screen sorted
i bought my kaiser off ebay..i couldnt sort tri screen.i had various roms on at various times .i had no warranty. on pay as you go.decided to take to local o2 shop.got it back today fully working for free.took them 8 days.

I started plugging the charger in and soft reset and it would work until i could find a new OS for it, Rom or RUU I think, I am not sure if it works, but now I can't get it off Tri-Screen to run it..
Any help anyone please?

trying to flash my rom and have now killed my second one
first time only read then instruction quckley and done it all wrong and the phone died. sent it back and go another one, tryed again and same problem.
this time i tryed to install hardspl but kept getting a white screen so look up how to get around that and got jumpspl on and then hardspl. all going fine so far, then i removed the simlock all went fine. then i installed nukespl-2.47 that started off fine then froze i left it a while to see if it would carry on, i soft reset it and that where it all went wrong and now i remember that was the same program i was using last time. now all my phone does is show a green light after i remove the battrie and power on, nothing on the screen and no lights on the keypad. i hope some one can help dont think i will get another one lol.

if this was your phone would you quit that easily?
Well, if you can still get into bootloader mode your fine. I'd reflash to the original htc rom and use a different spl, something safe like hard spl ver.1.1, never heard of anyone using nuke spl
Yes, confirm if you can get into bootloader by holding down the camera button while pushing the stylus in the reset hole. If done correctly, you should be at a tri-colored screen. Now, just flash back the original ROM and you should be set
What is NukeSPL? Never heard of it. It sounds bad. I never remember running a NukeSPL to HardSPL my Kaiser.
Never seen a Nukespl anywhere, and apparently Google either. Where did you get that from?
I don't even know the definition of "brick". Everyone (not everyone but most people) say they bricked their phone when they are simply stuck in bootloader. l
In my eyes a bricked device is one that doesn't turn on because you fried the board, resistors, capacitors, or whatever within...
sorry nuespl not nuke from this site.and no cant get into bootloder or anything just a green led on top of phone.
Just to confirm, you have a blank screen upon booting with a green light, that means it's still "alive". Getting into bootloader mode is done by holding the camera button and the power button then clicking the soft reset button on the bottom of the device, that should give you a tri colored sceen, from there, plug in the usb to your laptop or desktop and flash the official htc rom...and Never use Nuke spl Ever again, sounds like a poorly coded spl or even malware

If it was my phone, I would have thoroughly read all the pages before I tried it.....
no all that happens when i press the camrea power and reset it is the green light goes out.

You need to quickly learn that something meant for the TITAN will brick your KAISER!! If you look the thread is for Titan ppc so if you ran that on a Kaiser it will and did brick the phone.
Only use stuff that is developed for your particular PPC. You need to do much more reading before doing anything that can damaged your hardware.
umm from the site you showed it seems that it was meant for the Titan.. at least thats what i got from looking at the pictures and posts..
arr i have the tytn 2 thought they were the same phone. how dumb of me, so its total dead then. will have to do more reading then and wait for the 3rd phone to turn up. 3rd time lucky lol.
I had a similar experience with my Kaiser a week ago and thought it was dead, just keep trying to get it into tri colored bootloader mode by holding the power and camera buttons then holding the soft reset button, it didn't work for me the first or even tenth time before it shut down, but once I got it into bootloader and reflashed, It's alive
will try that got till monday before i can send it back.
I just want to remind people that Camera button should be fully depressed. It have two stages of pressed, Half-Press and Full-Press
Hey, I have been given a phone off a friend to fix but it wont turn on. Booting normally, I get a vibration and then the backlight comes on but i cannot see anything. When i try to boot into the bootloader by holding the camera button and powering it on, the backlight comes on but nothing else. I cannot see the bootloader. Under both circumstances, I cannot turn the phone off. I have to pull the battery to turn it off.
Does anyone have any suggestions about a possible fix? Thanks
Havie you tried send when trying to enter bootloader? If it resets then you can still get to bootloader. If not, your friend has soft bricked and only way is to JTAG which takes strong hardware knowledge and steady hands.

ok im having the exact same problem. actually i thought it was a battery problem so i spent 77$ on a 3700 mAh new batter i guess tripple life... and got it yesterday booted gave same problems. black screen where T-Mobile should be yet the rom loads with scribble screen meaning u see part but it looks like the pixels are messed up. so actually decided to resort to what someone told me a Factory Reset so Pressing Camera + Power i got a Black Backlight screen yet wont show... and I cant turn it off without Taking out the Battery this has become a issue after installing cyanogen 5.0.7 T5... since then i Re-rom'd to superbad 1.2.5 same problem screen scribbles and stops im thinking did I fry it i dont even know how to google my problem because its pretty unique it isnt a battery issue its something in the hardware ... or am I wrong please send us some feedback... ill keep this thread in mind
Sorry, what do you mean by 'send'. I am a complete noob when it comes to G1's. I have worked out i can shut off the phone by holding call + menu + end but thats it. I still cannot see anything at all on the screen. I still only get a vibration on boot. How would I know if the boot has been sucessful but i simply cannot see?
Could the flex ribbon cable be nackered?

I'm writting this help in Frustration, i'm trying to solve my lil bro problem. He has Sony Experia X1 running Windows mobile 6.1.
The problem is when it get's to the windows mobile 6.1 logo screen after boot up it freeze's! and i don't know where to go from here.
I've tried to sync it to the PC and nothing!
I've tried removing battery, holding down volume down button + power button, reinserting battering will on charge via wall and PC for 15min's, and removing batter and reinserting and booting again, and NOTHING!!!
i can't make any sence from it please help? What is the next step? Throw at the Wall?

any details on what action lead to the problem? those normally don't come out of thin air...and maybe that helps finding a solution
what might otherwise help (but will erase customizations and personal data stored on the device) is a hard reset

Ok just found out he was trying to delete something a program, and he can't remember what program! About to try a hard reset now!!!
Also just found out, you/I can't even power it down/off!!! WTF?
Hard reset! Not working just the same thing, tried holding all button in with battery out then reinserted, and the screen went all funny like snow reception on tv?
And one time it come up with 4 colours on the screen, green, blue, red and white!
also when trying to connect to computer usb port it try's to load up but said the phone is locked???

strange, not sure about the snow like screen
the four color screen is the bootloader, you can that when the phone is off and you restart it while holding volume button down for some seconds
there is a quite helpful thread about hard resetting X1, listing different means to do so
have a look, maybe you find something you didn't try yet and it helps

OK wierdiest thing ever!!!
after coming back to the phone a day later, the battery went flat, OK! charged mobile while it was in bootloader mode screen for 15 min's
Went to try hard reset and magic!!! It finally come up with this screen allowing me to reset by pressing R on the keypad, so i did then, it told me to press space.... waited, waited and waited. It got the better of me, took battery out, and reinserted...
It got further then before, but once again on further it hung there, so i took the battery out and reinserted and did this about 3 more times.
And now magic it works!!! I don't know whats going on i tried all these steps i've mentioned above and nothing had came of it, but now it works!!!
I'm backing the battery is the main issue, it got a lil hot but not to hot to handle, well im no expert i'll leave it with you's

So I used to have a G1 until last year, then I gave it to my friend. My friend returned it in broken. Seems like she dropped it a lot. [typical drunk college freshman ]
Anyways, I had an engineering SPL, recovery flashed, and biffmod or superd [wow brings back memories] on the phone.
The phone won't even boot. I press the power button, no LED backlight. I plug it in, no charging LED. I changed batteries, nothing. Can't get into bootloader/fastboot/adb/recovery.
Is this a brick that can be repaired or am I SOL?

Like I said, I am unable to boot into fastboot/recovery/normal boot. I don't even see the G1 logo. The LED back light doesn't even turn on.
I thought with a brick you're still able to see the G1 splash screen, so I don't know what to call this.
Looks like you have a black screen. Since you said that your friend drop it constantly it must have broken a wire or something that cause the screen to go black.
Bleh. So much for practicing cooking ROMs with that phone :[ thanks for your help!

well what im saying is maybe the battery is completely dead... did you try booting while plugged into a charger? lol stupid question mayb but im jus trying to cover all fields before we assume you have a brick
Lol. Like I said, I changed batteries. As in I replaced it with another one.
And yes, I did try booting with it charging, which is why I noticed there's no charging USB
