I'm running the DamageControl 2.09.01 ROM currently. I installed the Wifi tether this morning and when I tried to run it I just get the black screen for the SU app but no prompt at all.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this without wiping and reapplying the ROM? I've got most things just he way I like them and would prefer not to have to do it all over again.
Make sure USB debugging is turned on. Settings > Applications > Development.
Well that was simple enough. I didn't know that needed to be on for the prompts to show up. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

Hi
I have installe the Cynagogen 4.0.4 on my G1.

The g-force doenst work also, so seems like the thingy that's sense my movevs dosent work anymore..
Any quick fiks to get it going again ore do i need to put the rom in all over again, Ive used the whole day to set up my pone the way I like it, and bought programs so hope I dont need to install the cynagogen again?
...Trouble?
double post. borked internet connection sorry
ripped straight from the FAQ on cyanogen's page
20. My auto-rotate/accelerometer isn't working!
Not really the fault of the ROM, but here's how to fix it: Go into recovery, drop to console, "mount /data", then "rm /data/misc/akmd* /data/misc/rild*" and reboot.
I been searching for threads but cant seem to find anyone with the same problem.
running stock 1.5 and wanted to use the auto rooter in fresh kitchen I disabled htc sync like it asked it pass the test on the help screen except powershell and sendkeys but that said it was ok. but the phone status never updates it just stuck there so I cant root I can do anything and it a real pain in the butt trying to find anything to figure out what going on. Why isnt the phone picking up in fresh kitchen ?
Any suggestions or help would be appericated.

Make sure that you have the drivers from HTC Sync on your PC and also make sure that usb debugging is turned on.
Not sure if that will help, but I just used fresh kitchen to root a friends phone and it worked perfect.

htc sync installed and debugging on , the pretest on the help page seems to pass and says that it sees a valid adb device, other programs can see the phone and access it with out trouble. Not sure what exactly is going on might be I am in a virtual pc enviroment and attached the andriod phone device in the virtual pc enviroment I just flashed a friends to 2.1 offical did not have a problem with it but I am just not sure about what to do now.
Ok I'm having some issues.
So Last night, ADB was working perfect. it detect my device and everything. Then I was testing the webtop hack and i flashed unleashed 1.3 and it was still working. I got the webtop hack working on it.
So now i wanted to see if i could get it on a liberty alpha build. Everything went smoothly, and then on liberty when i try to get my device in adb it detected it but said it was offline, So i was unable to do what i needed.
So this morning I thought maybe something i messed up. So I FXZ my Bionic. i uninstalled the drivers and installed them back, I reinstalled adb.
I tried it unrooted still didn't work but didn't give the offline device something different ill explain soon.
So i rooted and tried same as when i wasn't rooted,
So i installed unleashed 1.3 again and it does this see picture below.
It detects it before i go into adb shell. but after im in adb shell. nothing. I'm still unable to do what i need.Started to do this after FXZ, on unrooted, rooted, unleashed.
EDIT: I GOT IT SAYING DEVICE IS OFFLINE AGAIN :/
Any help with this would be really appreciated.
Thanks guys
Aaron
Well I will start by saying generally you want to post this kind of question in the Q&A section and not the Development section. Anyhow, this may sound like an insulting question but you do have USB Debugging on correct? Usually ADB will say a device is "offline" when it knows a device is connected but there is a setting on the phones end preventing it from connecting. Once you say yes or no to USB debugging we can continue to diagnose.
Eh, I didn't think about that sorry.
and yes i have usb debugging on. i have tryed it on and off.
hi
clearly this wasn't as simple as the unrevoked method for my last phone,
I ran the script 'root many phone' and it cracked on whilst moaning about permissions and by the time it had finished the phone restarted a bit broken.
It had not play store, none of the previous apps on, wasn't actually rooted at all.
I managed to get play back on there but installing via adb.exe from the command line, and its almost like when I install something, that was on there before, it still has all the settings, so not quite sure what has gone on.
can anyone offer some advice, is it simplest to somehow get myself back to stock and start agin.
maybe I didnt run the root script from the right place. - phone was on and plugged in , usb debugging enabled.
any help much appreicated
I don't know of starting fresh is the 'best' option, but if you haven't done anything that you can't miss our can't do again it's never a wrong try.
Some people also reported that you need allow test locations on. And allow installation of external apps must also be set.
You can always try re rooting without reinstalling.
If you want to reinstall you're best of using Sony update service. Googling is fastest way to find it (not Sony pc companion)
Good luck,

hi
yes that was what I tried
do I need anything more than that script? (eg those ftf files i keep reading about?)
does the phone need to be on, or in the volume down on boot state
it appears I need 'test locations' and 'external apps' set
anything else I need?
i will try again today at some point
thanks
sure I am being a spanner, but I cant even find the test locations or external apps setting anywhere?
where might that be?
unless test locations is 'mock locations' (guess so)
stilll not finding the external apps option, thought it would be in apps setting somewhere..?
ok found that too in security > unknown sources.
ignore me
That root script didn't work for me either; it kept asking me to connect my device with USB-debugging enabled even though I had already done that.
I would suggest getting back to stock and trying again, BUT use FlashTool instead. It worked perfectly for me in mere seconds.

I downloaded version 0.9.0.0 version, but no XperiaT in the list when I plug it in..
which phone did you pick?
presume the steps are
1. download flashtool
2. Install it on your PC
3. Run the Flashtool and connect your phone (enable USB debugging first)
4. Hit the Root button (second in row)
5. When you see "waiting for restore to finish" open your phone and run Backup&Restore app and restore RootMe.tar file.
6. Wait until Flashtool do the rest of work
thanks

If you mean in the adb drivers list, select Xperia TX. That was the only time I had to select a device.
OK finally success
although using the initial method.
maybe the problem was created by reading the 'root many phones' thread and where it says there is a special case for Xperia T/S etc I took that to mean when running the tool, to pick option '2) special case Xperia S tablet etc' - which didn't work
ran it again picked option '1) Normal' which did work
thanks for all your help

Not necessarily relevant to the OP's problem but I thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else out...
When I tried rooting using Bin4ry's method I kept getting a adb server out of date error and the root failed.
I eventually traced this to having DROID explorer installed which was forcing an old version of adb to be running and stopped the newer version from starting up.
Once I uninstalled the old version I was able to runMe and root the phone.
Whenever i try to turn on usb debugging, it turns off automatically when i leave the settings page.
Im using the original USB cable, running stock 4.4.4 with root.
Already tried another cable and another PC, didnt work.
Any way that i can fix this?
In developer options, you check it and after you go back its unchecked again?
Just checking if that's what you mean, cause I'm not sure what the cable has to do with it? ?

Yeah, thats whats happens. I have a gif of it, but cant post here because im a new member, :b
Yeah, i dont know why i talked about the cable, lol.
Are you rooted? Have you froze or uninstalled apps you aren't exactly sure what they are? Something connected to USB debugging could be frozen, or missing.
Other than that, I've never had that issue personally... And had a peek around and couldn't find anything similar either really.
You may need to consider a factory reset... Though I'm thinking that won't do it. Or flashing your stock firmware again. 4.4.4 again, if it's available.... Cause downgrading not a good option, without likely bricking.
That's all I can think of.
Do you have anything checked under settings-> security-> device administrators? I had something once on another phone that had an app with administrator access that blocked some things.

You've only just created this thread. I'd give it a bit and see if other ideas come along. ?

Try unchecking one then rebooting. If that doesn't help, try the other one. Not sure if it will work though, but it's worth a try.
You can also try it in safe mode, that should disable any third party apps that might be interfering.
to reboot into safe mode long press the Power Off option that pops up when you hold down the power button.

OK well spitballing some ideas....
- I assume you're not trying this while connected to computer. if you are, then try it while disconnected. you could also try updating the drivers.
- right after USB debugging toggle there's an option to revoke USB debugging authorization. you could try that then plug it to a computer and reauthorize (maybe without leaving settings).
- you say you're rooted. try turning off root temporarily, see if that's causing some complications. or try re-rooting.
- lastly you could try clearing data for the settings app. this will reset some stuff that you'll have to manually reorganize. preview of what will happen see here: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ata-for-the-settings-app-com-android-settings

Revoked USB debugging authorization, nope.
Removed root from SUPERsu, nope.
Cleared settings data, nope.
Original firmware may be the way to go, :/
its the admin app settings
Please just go into your Cerebus app, tap on settings in the upper left corner of your screen, scroll down to where it says "prevent USB debugging (this requires a background service) and uncheck the option. no need to save or reboot, but you might anyway. Your problem will be solved.

same thing happened to me. I was getting pissed off because I hate fishy stuff going on in the background. I'm kind of a control freak when it comes to processes and stuff running on my device. Glad I could help.
