EVDO/Hybrid/1x - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am in an area with no 3G coverage(Rev 0, but not Rev A). With Stock 1.5 I had an option to change between EVDO/Hybrid/1x, but in 2.1 the option is no longer there. I did a nand back to stock so I could download Damages 2.9.1. without waiting all day, but forgot to switch back to 1x. When I went back to the nand of 2.8.1 I was stuck in the EVDO Rev 0, and couldn't receive any calls or messages. I had to nand back to the stock change it back to 1x and then nand forward. All this to ask:
Is there any way manually to switch between signals on Damages 2.9.1, or is there any kind of app i could install that will do it for me?
Thanks
EDIT:
I found a work around. I manually updated the prl to 40060 from Verizon, and now have 3G service....Sweeeeeeet...thanks to travlincablguy for the advice!

my phone always on roaming now.

I am running Fresh Rom 2.1.2, and was on Radio Baseband 2.42.01.04.27. I thought i will update the prl and profile and it said no updates available but soon later it started roaming always.
I haved tried re flashing the rom again with whipping everything and it still did not get me out of roaming.
I went back to 2.32.40.11.09 baseband and then 1.04.01.09.21 baseband. But roaming triangle was still there. If i go into settings and change roaming settings to sprint only then i get no service.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
I had this problem when I upgraded my radio to the newest one. Although, all I had to do was upgrade my profile then PRL and all was fine. Also, I couldn't update the PRL UNTIL my profile was updated.
That's what i read on here u will have to update the profile first to update the prl. I tried that it said no updates for profile then all of a sudden it started roaming after that.
I think I might need to update the profile maunally since it does not do it through the phone and maybe then I can update prl after that.
Anybody know how I can update the prl manunally. I properly need to find msi code for my phone too, to do that. How would go about doing that? Can somebody point me in the right direction.

[Q] Sudden Data Loss on JB Captivate

Hi, I was on HellyBean Rom, opened an account with Net10 BYOP and configured the APN settings, everything seemed to be working fine for a day or so, Then I decided to set a lock pattern on my security settings. after locking the device to try it out, it got stuck, rebooted and got stuck on the boot up animation (dimming on and of), never came out, so I erased everything and re-installed the rom. when i entered the same APN settings i didn´t get the data back, other than that the WiFi and phone seem to be working fine, I upgraded to the lastest HellyBean version, and now switched to the AoCP CP 4 Rom, all with the same results No Data! tried to toggle the airplane mode, verified the imei with the imei behind the battery.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks.
Try flashing a modem again. If that doesn't fix the problem, dial *#*#2263#*#* and make sure all or the required freq bands are selected.

Thanks uhm, i flashed a new modem as suggested, actually thanks for that I got better reception at home, but apparently that dindn´t fix the data network, then i tried to dial *#*#2263#*#* as soon as i dial the las * the whole number dissapears but i dont get any menu.
Any extra help would be appreciated, this is the first time I go into the modem updates/options.
Try flashing a gb stock rom like uckk4 from the master thread and then flash corn kernel tar so that u have cwm recovery too. Then flash the rom you want from cwm recovery menu. You could try data connection in stock rom before flashing another rom.

[HELP][UNSOLVED] No 3G connection

I have a problem with my phone's 3G connection.... It doesn't work! Edge works, and i don't know if LTE works (no support in my area). It happened after some exploring in the service menu (*#197328640#). First i got the message "SIM card Psuedo locked" or something, and now after i restored efs and returned everything to stock i just get "Only emergency calls" when I'm on a 3G network. If i select GSM only, my phone works just fine. If i destroyed something in the service menu, how can i restore it? Is there a way to debug, to se what causes the problem?
Flash stock rom odin.
Hard reset?

[Q] Stuck 1x no data after Gingervolt/Broken Out 2

This was a new out of box phone on zv9. I rooted and wifi tethered my 4g (my only source of internet at home) but latency was high so I though I'd go back to my old decrap v1 froyo rom to see if that fixed my latency issues with this new phone (same make and model as my old one). I couldn't find any working links to the old froyo roms so begins the current problem..
I flashed gingervolt 2.0 and sim card would not activate after many attempts. I assumed this was because it's zv7 which I hadn't noticed.
So I flashed broken out 2.0 which says works with zv9. Unfortunately I didn't go back to my stock back up which I made before flashing gingervolt.
so basically, I went from stock zv9 to gingervolt and then straight to broken out 2.0.
My sim card activates on broken out 2.0 - at least I think - it's showing my phone number / prl version / network verizon in about phone, but also says mobile network state: disconnected. I have 2 bars but no 1x/3/4g symbol and no connectivity or calling ability.
I'm downloading the stock zv7 gb rom right now, but I'm guessing this won't fix it. Am I going to have to use LGNPST? And if so should I use zv8 if going to gingervolt?
I tried searching the forums, but there's 1000's of posts about 1x when the network went down and I'm on dial-up right now so I don't really have the ability to search through multiple threads.

broken out is a zv8 or zv9 rom. gingervolt is for zv7. dont flash gingervolt on zv8/zv9.
what android version does it say on your about phone menu? find out your version, wipe data in clockword recovery, then flash the correct rom.
have you tried rebooting or cycling airplane mode? that works for me sometimes.
your sim card slot or the card itself might be screwed. try shimming it to improve contacts between the pins and the chip.

Well, I went ahead and used LGNPST to flash stock unrooted ZV9 back on it and it's still doing the same thing..
It finds service, but says Mobile Network State: Disconnected in about phone.
WiFi is off, Data is turned on.. I've rebooted/airplaned and messed with the sim card a lot, but I don't think the sim is the problem since it's connecting to the verizon network just not to data.
I have 2 bars as I normally would have, just no 4g or 3g data connectivity.
kyledyr;38918762dont flash gingervolt on zv8/zv9.[/QUOTE said:
Could this be the problem even though I've gone back to zv9 using LGNPST and it still has no data? I know that gingervolt wont work on my zv9 firmware due to improper radio, but now that I'm back on a zv9 rom the radio should be working (which it is just no data) perhaps it's an activation problem or perhaps when loading a zv7 rom on zv9 firmware something has been corrupted? but that should have been fixed with the firmware flash I just did.
I'm gonna try calling verizon and see if they can reactivate my sim card; maybe that is the issue.

Yep, that was the problem.
Apparently, at the same exact time I flashed broken out, verizon had decided to switch my data usage allowance - which deactivated my sim card.
I called and they reverted the data usage allowance, as I hadn't activated a phone on their subsidized pricing, thus I'm not bound to a new contract.
so the good news is I went ahead and used LGNPST to flash zv7 firmware and now I am gingervolted and still have my unlimited data.
good news and happy endings.

[RESOLVED] No Service (Text, Data, Voice), PRL Version 1

My HTC One is with Ting, but before you scoff and turn away, Ting almost totally uses the Sprint network and standard Sprint troubleshooting should work for my phone.
My device cannot get any sort of service: voice, data, nor text. None of it works. I can update profile with no problem because that can be done over Wi-Fi. PRL cannot.
Though, I am a bit beyond what you would consider standard troubleshooting. I have:
Manually programmed by doing ##MYMSL# and I get "Commit failed" upon pressing "Commit modifications"
Attempted to manually update PRL and profile in Settings
I am on the latest OTA (3.05.651.6)
PRL version = 1 (if I do a factory or carrier reset, it is 00000)
Performed a carrier reset (##72786#)
Performed a factory reset (Settings, HBOOT, and recovery)
Performed a reset via ##786#
Attempted to push a PRL through both CDMA Workshop and QPST; both failed
RUU'd to stock and then updated back to latest OTA
It is possible that some NV data got messed up somewhere. Usually I would just get the device replaced, but in this case I can't as there is a minor crack in the top right part of my device's screen.

Looking at the steps above have you tried to RUU the phone back to stock?

Yes, I have. I knew I was missing something in the list. I went all the way back to the original RUU and did each update since then.

Try pushing a sprint PRL to the phone using DFS
check my post here for DFS (Sorry forgot the link)

As odd as it sounds, flashing CM11 fixed it.
