I go to Settings>Wireless & Networks.
Then I enable "Internet tethering"
But I have no signal on my computer.
The over all goal is to tether my phone to my computer then bridge it to my xbox. Thanks

So my laptops internal wireless card gave out, and while I don't mind using 3g.. wifi is a little faster, so is there a way to use that instead of 3g? I do not see it as an option in the internet sharing app.
thanks
hmm, i think ICS could do that.......... connect via wifi then connect ICS with USB or bluetooth..... hmm, i was thinking wmwifirouter could do it but i am not sure
already tried that. I think that wmwifirouter is for sharing 3g over wireless
simple..I do that all the time.
Turn off Data Connection
Turn On WiFi
Turn On Internet Sharing
..wah-la !
i tried that but under network connection wifi does not appear and it tries to connect to 3g?
I know we can simply connect my HTC via my wireless connection,
but is there a way, presumeably if we want to connect our phone
to the internet via PC. anyone care to share the tricks? thx.
Hi
I want to use my Tilt as a wifi router, but I don't have a data plan. Is this possible?
I want to connect it to my laptop which is connected to the internet using ethernet cable and use internet on my work laptop.
Thanks.
the app WMWiFiRouter does just that
Thanks. I will give it a go.
On the website of that program, it says that you need both a data connection and internet connection.
Is that true? I don't have data.
I have Barnacle on my Vibrant. When enabled, it functions as a wireless router, but only in the ad-hoc mode. I use it successfuly with my Windows 7 laptop, but I found no way on the NC to enable ad-hoc mode.
Any ideas? Are there any apps that convert a phone into a regular wireless router I could use?

Barnacle works awesome! Thanks for the heads up of this app!
Wifi Tether app supports infrastructure mode for a true wireless access point (not ad-hoc) so long as your phone's chip is capable of doing it.

Click to collapse
The better answer is to install the MobileAP on the Vibrant (if on Eclair), or go ahead and upgrade to a ROM based on a leaked Froyo. This will create an infrastructure mode WiFi network, which the nook will then be able to connect to.

Cyanogen 7 Tethering Does Not Work. Need 3G Tether. Able to connect, but says "no network access." The USB tether does work. Any apps or recommendations for a wireless 3g tether?
Works fine for me...
I was wondering if there is a way to use the phone as DUN modem to tether... this is not the same as the usb tether option. my old blackberry and flip phones were able to do so. the difference is that when using DUN the device connected to the phone is receiving the t-mobile IP address as opposed to a private ip address tether gives.. i want to be able to use the device as a backup for my home internet connection and dont want a double NAT situation.. also my router doesnt play well with the tether mode
