I noticed that Stk.apk is listed in system/app. If I'm not mistaken, isn't that for dual sim cards? Or am I wrong? Can it removed or does it serve a purpose?

I'm not sure but what I do when I have a question like that is first nandroid. Next remove it and reboot. Then go through the quick motions of testing everything out to see if everything that I use is still working (mms, internet, music...etc). Maybe not the answer your looking for but it's something
i removed it. its still going strong since the rom was released.

Guys,
My girlfriend has the Nexus S and I noticed on her phone in MMS she has a picture set for herself and its viewable.
On my Nexus One when I text the icon for me is always grey.
Is this only an issue for me and is there a fix for it?
An example of what I mean is attached.
EDIT:
Fixed!! Thanks to andrew2511 and baseballfanz

You need to put your SIM in a phone that has the ability edit the 'My Number' entry. Apparently iPhones can do it. I used an oldish Sony Ericsson for mine, think it was a K550i.
Is there a reason no one has written an app to do this yet? Does Android not have the ability to manage the data stored on the sim card for some reason?

Do what Andrew said. It works on stock or any rom.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
How can it work on stock when it's a Cyanogen feature? Also it doesn't edit the number on the SIM (as I understand it) so you can't flash CM, make the change and revert to stock.

Thanks Andrew it worked!! Fixed OP with your instructions.
EDIT:
Can anybody confirm that it works on stock?
It worked on CM7 for me.
No it doesn't work on stock, it's a CM enhancement.

That only worked because your SIM had your number correctly set up, if it doesn't (like the OPs) then the contact wont be picked up.
You can tell where the problem is from the icon, if it's a solid grey square, then it's the SIM, if it's an empty contact card, then your solution applies.
I know this sounds silly, and almost pointless. But i have a Samsung Behold 2 that i use for mp3 player, and i was wondering if it is possible to remove.. all the phone functionality? like the "no sim card" notification on the lock screen.. the dialer, etc..
Can this be done without breaking Android?
As far as I know yes.
Gonna look more into this.. Android phones come a dime a dozen now, an older model phone like the behold makes a great music player / wifi device .. Removing the phone stuff would just make it more official. Thanks
Best way is to remove those apps through Titanium Back up. Make sure you back it up first just in case. Then when you know you really do not need the apps, then you can delete those backup files.
Yeah i could remove the apps.. like the dialer, contacts, etc.. but what about that damn "no sim card" notification..i hate that lol

Do you happens to have an old (not used) SIM? That will works too. I, myself, have a few lying around the house from the old services that I no longer have.
So put in a prepaid sim with no money on it.

Could someone please link me to a mod which allows me to completely remove mobile data services from my phone since switching off data still allows some apps to turn in on. Lost all of my credit (had a lot of it) thanks to this new phone i bought.
Running stock 4.4

I've not used lgup or uppercut to that extent. have you tried installing through ADB or replacing it with the google dialer?

Can you help with and install that app with adb, I don't know how to do it.
Not the same device and somebody else may have a better source but these guys gave me some info I wasn't aware of (plus is the first one I could come up with

I pulled the phone app off mine and replaced it with drupe to set if there was lost functionality. So far works pretty well, like the app had never used it before. I think my wife has the straight Google dialer for nougat on her n5, up pull it off there and give it a run. I never really used those other features so they never meant anything to me just duplication. If I want to message I message etc..
Teu downloading that file and the program win - zip says it will open those files. Haven't gotten inside it yet myself but I would think that being a regular apk if it is still slow you to install it the normal way
I had the same problem, AT&T is my carrier. I had to insert a T-Mobile SIM, open the contacts app and hot swap the SIM back to AT&T, at which point the phone rebooted and all was well.
There is probably another way to do this, as it seems to be related to video calling.
I Uninstalled my lg dailer to see if I could duplicate the issue. Got rid of that app and replaced it with drupe. Really like the way that app works but it seems that you can't use the dailer codes to access the hidden service menu without it. I don't use the video value so that means nothing to me, but those codes could be useful.
I've got a tgz file that I sent you but can't seem to open it up to extract that apk.
All you did was switch out SIM cards? That sounds odd to me, but I did notice that once the call is placed the LG dealer /call interface shows up but as soon s you end the call away goes the dialer
You know what all ths phone dialer exist in? I searched. For phone.apk found nothing?
you can take it by yourseld...extract the kdz of you model smartphone take the system img and open it with ext2explore, then explore the system image save it on you computer explore system image saved and take all your apk you need..save in your microsd and install..
Is that app no longer a thing? I just upgraded to the S10 and I'm on the latest security patch, and I'm not finding that app in the system apps anywhere. I always disable/clear that app ASAP once I get a new Android device on Verizon, and every previous android Verizon device has had it... Did it change names again or did they actually get rid of it?
I thought the last Galaxy that had it was the S8. I could be wrong though. LOL, maybe they hid it better or just changed the name.

I had a S10 on Verizon briefly when it came out so I'm 99% sure it had it at one point, but maybe I'm dreaming...
I've disabled it.. S10 - Verizon
I wonder if I have to have my Verizon sim card in the phone... I don't currently... will try shortly.
Putting my sim card in clearly "activated" it as the usual crap games starting showing up. However, I'm still not seeing it in my app list (and yes I have system apps showing). Very odd... really want to get this thing turned off. Wondering if they buried it deeper.
Does CCSWE see it or have you tried that app?

Try verizon app manager. Seems to be the new name.

Yep, that's there, and I think you're right. The APK contains "Digital Turbine" and "IgniteService" - the original app was called DT Ignite.
Good find, thank you.
Confirmed that was definitely it. An update must've changed the name, and my device must've started on an update later than the one that changed it. As soon as I disabled it, it restored it back to the "factory" version and the name changed back to Mobile Services Manager.
Thanks again, Briermatch.
