boot.img 2.3 Mb for Froyo... - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
some people using my ROM get errors while update-script write boot.img.
of course before writing it I format BOOT:
some people reported to me that some boot images could not be written correctly if over 2.2Mb.
but i cannot find 2.2Mb non-OC kernels for froyo...
- modaco is 2.3Mb
- rodriguez is 2.3Mb
- all the others I downloaded are 2.3Mb
any cluse, advice etc please?
thx

Error during flash is
No space left on device
Whats happening?

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App

some times when you compile a kernel, it will say that it is 2.3mb but will actually be like 2.3+. I have even compiled some that were 2.4 (243xxkb) won't flash but say they are 2.3mb.
Maybe that is the problem.

Looks like they unstuck the thread in the Development section that had the link in it since the OP was no longer updating it.

Is that official radio for the nexus one? How do I install it? No instructions anywhere.
i too would like to know how to install the froyo radio. ive had froyo installed since the end of may and getting tired of not having the video codecs. ive tried flashing the radio from the custom recovery and it "verifies" the file then immediately says that it has been installed. when i restart the phone via recovery. it comes up with the droid "hoping" out of the box, not falling out. and then goes back to the recovery menu, i power off then back on and android loads, when i check to see if it has updated, it still says i have 32.19.00.16U_4.02.02.14
trying to update to 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
What am i doing wrong?
according to RoDrIgUeZsTyLe i should install the radio first then the rom i have. im really trying to not have to wipe and start over again.
Please make a Nandroid backup of your current System before install !!!

[ROM] Froyo JP3 Test3! *09/23/2010*

I will be working on this more, as I'm sure Eugene will be too so we can get a working, bug free froyo to hold us off until we get our hands on an official release with a 2.2 kernel. As usual, this is experimental, there are bugs, flash at your own risk. Please do not report any bugs at this time, we are aware of them and are working to get this running smoothly.
WARNING: Some have reported that this wipes the internal sdcard, I personally have not had this happen to me and I've flashed this at least 100 times. None the less, BACKUP you internal before hand just in case!
Download: Vibrant Froyo JP3 Test3
- Flash 10.1 full was hit and miss but now it works flawlessly! You can even watch hulu! ooolala
Download: Vibrant Froyo JP3 Test2
- remapped buttons (menu, home, back, search) EDIT: the home button apparently is also acting as a back button, I will fix today.
Download: Vibrant Froyo JP3 Test1
- Fixed wifi!
Recovery:
1. Recovery Works Perfect, but up & down are reversed
2. When using nand restore, Be-sure to flash a 2.1 Kernel as well. (Nand does not replace the kernel when restoring)
3. ClockworkMod now see's the sdcard from froyo, so Downgrading is fine as long the rom you are flashing has a Kernel that Pre-Flashes / or you flash a 2.1 kernel after switching to another 2.1 Rom coming from Froyo!
4. And YES...you can revert back...I've already done it a few times. Just flash another rom like Eugenes or mine (bionix) and you'll be back to 2.1.
Rom Issue's:
1. Volume Key's are now Fixed, up is up.... ect.
2. 3.5m Headset Jack not working **broken - fix in progress**
3. Home & Back key both acts as the HOME button **FIXED!**
4. Bluetooth **working**
5. Wifi **now working!**
6. GPS **broken - fix in progress**
7. To answer in advance...no...JIT is not working currently.
Credits: Eugene373 - He was the first to upload the JP3 Froyo, I'm just trying to work out the kinks. Thanks Eugene!
Yessss! Thanks Sombionix! We'll give it a go!
Awesome! adding to the bible shortly, do you use odin to flash this?
Working great, using a stock launcher from 2.2 which I have attached to this message. Never would have thought not being able to use back button would be a problem. It is. Gonna get the android keyboard and slap it on her too.
Thanks. I'll download it.

Ok, just to clarify. In order to revert all you have to do is flash another rom on top of this one? No special procedures, no using adb, no reflash via odin?

The Offical Why My Wifi Doesnt Work Thread

so before any of us have to answer this question again please read this thread
so with dzo's port of the newest kernel he started including a wlan.ko compatible with the newer 2.6.32.nbh's into his builds. this left small fragmentation issue with people still using the older kernel
so when you use android on any of the phones in our project your nbh/ zImage is where your kernel is
so you have 2 options for your .nbh/zImage their are
2.6.25 (older kernel)
2.6.32 (newest kernel)
the older 2.6.25 kernels are available on dzo's site (should be a link to it in the first post of this thread) the last one he made was 26-07-2010 (what i use on my touch)
the newest kernels 2.6.32 are avalible for download from the kaiser kernel thread
if using a 2.6.25 kernel you need an update for the wifi this is attached to this post
now those instructions are assuming you have a kaiser if you have a polaris you need the wifi update for it reguardless the one for the 2.6.32 kernel that is also attached
for older polaris kernels i am not sure where the wifi update is for it but a forum search should find it easily if you know what your looking for
and lastly if your on a vogue, wifi will never ever work ever so stop asking
i think that should cover it if i missed anything everybody feel free to chime in (also if this could get stickied that be great)
Good stuff, glad to get that off your chest?
Haha does it show?

perfectly working
This should be stickied tbh. This question is one that pops up the most followed by questions about .nbh's. Such as how do I edit them, how do I use a vogue rom on my kaiser, etc.
Mind awfully if I link this in my mini-faq, since it's definitly a frequently asked question

Thank you for organizing all of the answers in one place.
Sorry for bothering you but i can't install this update.
I just get "failed to extract" message after each attempt.
Hope someone can help me to solve this problem.
I've got kaiser with .25 kernel installed on it, system stored on nand and data on ext2.
Did you open the zip you downloaded or try to. flash it as is, if you flashed it as is that's your problem

Hi,
I am having problems getting any Android ROM to have working Wifi.
I have tried several different ROMs along with the corresponding Kaisimg.nbh generated using the NBH Editor and have tried applying the Wifi update after testing the 'virgin' install. Still no success.
I have an UK O2 Stellar. Could someone tell me a combination of NBH and ROM that has working Wifi (with or without the fix).
edit : just fixed by using the NBH from DZO's site instead of the Editor default.

Sorry for pushing this thread...
I had Fat Free Rom running for some months and now wanted to switch to an newer one. But I can't get WiFi working.
I tried:
Scoot Cyanogenmod RLS6
Thoughtlesskyle's Not So Super Froyo RLS18
New KAISER ROM Valentine 1.0.2
Krazy-Killa's Kernel Release - RLS5.9.1.2 Alpha
I also updated the Radio to
1.70.19.09 and now 1.71.09.01
and suggested or newest Kernels.
Furthermore I tried ALL fixes for WiFi I could find in this forum like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848921
http://www.ziddu.com/downloadlink/13294643/androidupdate-unpack-me.rar (from valentine)
and of course the updated linked here.
What's wrong with my Kaiser? WiFi never worked at first offence in Android and even with FatFree I needed to fix it (forgot how I did ^^, guess with new Kernel)
did you use the update with the Krazy-Killa kernel before posting?
What do you mean? ^^
I downloaded this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980551 and used atools to get "RLS 5.9.1.2 NBH.7z" and "HAReT Kernel Files.tar" into 1 file. Afterwards I flashed it.
im on the cache kernel 2.6.32 and im having problems with wifi. everytime i try to turn it on it says error
wifi worked fine in the super froyo, but it doesnt now that im on the dzo rom. i tryed to install the update from the cache kernel rar file and it failed to exract. its a androidupdate.tar file

[ROM] [STOCK] CUBE / CUBE_lean_v2 (root) | v20g-2.3.3
DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible if anything happens to your phone. Use this at your own risk.
Based on stock v20g, but recovery flashable. Will not update your baseband. Works only on the new baseband.
There are two versions
CUBE - 100% equal to stock.
CUBE_lean - stripped down and rooted.
Important:
Do not upgrade from Froyo to any of these ROM, you won't have GSM/UMTS then.
If you already have the new baseband you can use this.
If you do not have the new baseband you can not use this.
Do not use LGMDP to flash this ROM.
FAQ:
Q: Oh no! Yet another gingerbread ROM?
A: This is not yet another, it is the stock one, just in different packaging.
Q: And why do i need that again if there is a stock ROM already?
A: If you do not want to flash via lgmdp but rather use your already existing clockwork mod recovery.
Q: What's the problem with using lgmdp?
A: It flashes more than you need if you just wanted to downgrade. And it flashes "dangerous" areas of the phone making it more prone to create a brick.
Q: Mobile data is not working after flashing this rom. What now?
A: Go to settings and set the APN manually. Consult google for your operator settings.

Yes. If you already have the original GB, then you have no use for this. If you've gone further and flashed a custom GB rom and now want back again without flashing anything vie lgmdp: this is for you.

No it won't. This won't upgrade your baseband. You need a new baseband already. This ROM is when you don't want to flash the baseband again to get back to stock.

Mik's CM7-6.5.5 is using the old baseband. So you can't.

This is actually pretty useful. I was wanting to go back to the stock GB kernel/ROM (having too many issues with the custom ones), but I didn't want to go through the whole ordeal of using LGMDP again. Thanks for this.
You also need lgmdp to change the baseband, so its ridiculous

I'm curious. Has somebody already used the provided ROM and had success flashing and running it?
I wasn't able to flash via LGMDP, for some reason it kept going into fastboot.
I flashed this and everything is perfect.
All you hating should just shut up. This helped me a lot.
Thank you.
BTW - rooting doesn't work and the APN's and settings and bookmarks and everything are from a different carrier, not mine.
Weird but... whatever.
I just want it rooted. Anyone that can help?
Why would you want to use this?
Install gingerLOL which is rooted and cleaned. Its still slow because its still based on official crap but certainly faster than this.
I think is useful enough...
You have to use lgmdp tool just once ,not again and again to change from v20g to v20c or other downgrades, just flash this rom and then flash any official gb rom you want instead of using lg tool again...
But if you want to flash a froyo rom then you have to use lg tool again....
All these if i understand good,
Or not????

i will buy a used galaxy tab p1000 next week ... i have lg optimus black and it have no support at all . so i guess i will find alot of support here in galaxy tab forum and alot of roms
i cant understand any thing about flashing - roms- recovery - nightly - rc !!! alot of these stuff i found and alot of download links and alot of names so i get confused and these things become complix for me !!
i want to download ics on my galaxy tab the moment i buy it i don want to work on gingerbird
so i want any one here to help me with this problem ... i need to know these basics , how to , stable rom , etc
also can i use ics my daily use ? from ur usage to the galaxy tab working with ics , is it fast as froyo ? is it totally compatible ? can i run all programs and games ? does it lag alot and force close alot of prog ?
I am using AOKP build 40.
Faster than froyo, a lot more available apps in market because it is ICS.

Basically to restock:
Download GB-stock-safe-v5.zip, unzip it and and flash with ODIN according to the guide.
Stop there and you will have Gingerbread JQ1
But since you want ICS, continue reading the guide.
- download ICS (CM9 or AOKP) and gapps-ics and put in external sd card.
- boot to download mode
- you need to use Odin to flash Overcome kerner tar
- once flashed the tab reboots.
- ignore the robotic voice, just force the tab to off
- boot to CWM recover (press vol-up and power )
- flash ICS (CM9 or AOKP)
- after flashing the system will convert your tab to MTD partition, but it will probably bring you to recovery or stuck at boot.
- force reboot to recovery again
- flash ICS again
- immediate after complete, flash gapps
- reboot
You have ICS after a few minutes of booting.
You are here too. Btw thank you for your help last time. Now i want to get cm9 on my tab. I used cubed 3d, it was stable but i really want ics feel. I am currently on froyo and wanting to get cm9 installed. Any help is appreciated.

Hi droidxrooting,
I hope you are comfortable using Heimdall.
The last round you didn't get to use it on linux?
Most of the CDMA guide is using heimdall, some guides on Windows.
The process is similar, you want to flash a kernel that has CWM 5.x and support Ext4 conversion (so called lagfix).
Then flash ICS, the gapps.
there is cyanogenmod wiki too, but I don't know if it is clear or not

flash cyanogenMod 9 Stable version,.
Now I am very comfortable with heimdall. My first experience was horrible because of the drivers on my PC. I used other computers and it worked like a charm. I can not ask for more.
The problem that I was facing with flashing cm9 over cubed 3d is the error I was getting in cwm. Error 7 installation aborted. I tried to flash other ROMs as well with out any luck. Even after master reset and clearing the caches.
Now I am back to stock and rooted. I need the way to get recovery on my tab. If you can help me it would be great.
Once I get the recovery I think I should be able to flash cm with out any problems.
