Hi,
I have been considering buying the N1 for quite some time now. If I wait until the Froyo release will Google sell the phone with 2.2 immediately? Or is there no point in waiting and just pull the trigger now ?
Thanks.
There is no guarantee that new Nexus One's will be sold with 2.2 once it's released. It makes no sense to delay buying it - even if you buy it now, you will receive the update over-the-air.
thanks for the quick reply. love this forum
Agreed. But you can get froyo now easily. I have a rooted n1 with froyo and its great.

Technically, h3ckman, it's a test release, not final froyo

Coming from Sprint and HTC we had leaks galore surrounding the release of 2.1 By the time it was released we had been running it for a couple of months. Is Sammy and the Death Star better at containing leaks or have there just not been that many releases?
IF a leak hits it will probably be from samsung-firmwares. They already posted one 2.1 captivate leak and I am sure that as soon as they got a hold of 2.2 they will release it.
If Samsung can actually meet its deadline 2.2 will be out next month. I have also noticed that some of the fimwares leaked from samsung contain the carrier software. If Samsung is doing the carrier modifications for them it should be much quicker to ship than the typical vendor to carrier setup.
thanks. I'm getting the itch. This thing's running stock firmware with Unhelpful's kernel and no bloat.

Sprint coverage here sucks. I don't have 4G and don't want to pay extra for a service I can't use, so here I is.
I switched last month to AT&T for the exact same reason. I actually gave up two SERO plans. But I was wondering the same thing. On my WinMo I was constanly finding new ROM builds almost weekly. Now using a non-HTC phone and android does seem to take some getting used to.
Looking forward to 2.2 when it is availible!

I had SERO too. I miss that 30 dollar a month Plan My wife still has hers though.
I was wondering if Gingerbread will drop for the N1 tomorrow because the Nexus S is also releasing tomorrow. I mean like when the iPhone 3G released the updates for the iPhone 2G could be downloaded from iTunes. I know the N1 and NS are different, but we've already seen N1's on Gingerbread from Google leaked...

It's possible. But I'm guessing probably not. They need to keep gingerbread a selling point of the nexus s for a bit longer.

I'd give it a 50/50 shot of being pushed this weekend at some point. I doubt we'll have to wait another week for it to start trickling out.
We'll get it once the AOSP gets dropped. Don't even need to wait for a push.

Traditionally, we get the OTA a few weeks before the AOSP gets dropped. I have seen rumors that AOSP will happen sometime this weekend, but we've heard a lot of rumors concerning Gingerbread so far.
Hopefully it gets released this weekend. I would love to have Gingerbread on my Nexus One since I'm waiting a bit longer to get my S.

The N1 is discontinued and never sold a lot anyway. I don't think it having Gingerbread will have a noticeable impact on NS sales.
Maybe or maybe not released this weekend...Hopefully sooner than later

Yea, but having GB on our N1 might stop some making a switch to the NS.
IDK
WTF
BBQ
I doubt that many people will abandon the N1 and move to the NS *solely* because it already has Gingerbread. If they make a switch, it will likely be to take advantage of new hardware. Or something.
The OS shouldn't really be that much of a selling point (versus an N1) since we know that our devices will get the update sooner rather than later.
Well some of you may have read my thread about me swapping for a T-Mo HD2 and then upgrading sometime Q3-4 to a new phone as a "birthday present"
I've just been thinking.....since the SGS looks like its getting some official gingerbread cookies soon (don't like CM7 or MIUI as my phones a 1008, larger risk of me bricking it :/ and its too buggy for daily use for me right now IMO) in a month or two. and darky's bound to base a ROM around it and someones bound to port it over to the captivate.
I'm thinking of not trading for a HD2, but instead after my exams next year, sometime around Feb-April, get a brand new tablet instead......
and then just use my phone for tethering since I'm getting "unlimited" data next month for a very cheap price.....
any thoughts? or should I stick to my previous plan of trading a HD2 and grabbing a new phone Q3-Q4 instead?
thanks

think nvidia would be on time in Q3 to see some action in tablets?
No. No company has actually been on time for anything it says.

oh well, we can always hope
I'm switching back to my captivate because it has the gingerbread 2.3.5 rom and it works 10 times better than my thrill which makes no sence but yeah I can't wait till I get my different phone

Its not LG's fault why gb is late. Blame majority of it on at&t. Its 100% LG's fault for releasing it with 2.2 only to justify the dual processor, dual channel and dual memory.
How does your Captivate work better?
This is what I don't get it...
And don't get me wrong, I want updates just as much as everyone else
And it'd be cool if we were on 4.0 right now. But my Thrill works pretty dandy. Much better than my Captivate.
I can't even keep the damn thing from randomly shutting down. And I went through 8 of them with the same issues.
My thrill over heats and has issues my captivate is faster because it has a like stock 2.3.5 gb rom; on it it by far works better than my thrill

Yes its LG's fault for releasing it with 2.2 and it is at&t's fault why we don't have 2.3

I have a cap and thrill and have had all the same frustrations.
HOWEVER the CM7 Build for thrill is freaking awesome. Reflash your baseband back to stock and load it up. No HDMI, not 3d, but a solid awesome phone while we wait for AT&T to release ginger, or something else to happen.

Yeah fo sho. Although I'd never use the physical keyboard. I think I've just decided to wait until the middle to late part of 2012 and see what's out. I have two other upgrades ready to go on my account as it is so I could pop into a new phone right now. But with the crazy quad core new battery and screen technology coming out in Q2 and Q3 of 2012, I think it'd just be better to wait.
Actually, honestly, I wish I could transfer my unlimited data to a tablet and then get a 'dumb' phone.
I was talking to Trekfan the other day about brands. I might give Sony a try on my next upgrade. Their x10 is pretty sexy looking and they should have some really nice stuff out come middle 2012.

Thank you for contacting LG Electronics
Hello Chris
Unfortunately at this time there is no upcoming update for the LGP925. It has been announced that only the LGP930/935 will be receiving the ICS update.
Thank you for choosing LG

Enjoy the read.... I know I will never again buy LG. From now on my phones will have to say Google on the back for me to consider it.
Saddest thing I've read all day.
Let's hope this is just a misinformed employee.
Besides, maybe the P925 won't get it, but if the P920 does, than it can be easily ported.

I agree. I'm hoping for some ICS love for this phone even if it is a port.

I dont care if they just rerelease gingerbread, as long as there are no ghost calls. LG GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!!!
I ditched my Thrill almost two weeks ago for a One X. I would of still had it if it wasn't a free upgrade. Anyway, the features of my One X is nice. Only thing I miss about my Thrill is the HDMI port and SD slot. Gave it to my 10 year old son. Ill be taking his upgrade for the next Nexus.

I also ditched the Thrill.. Sold mine on Craigslist for 200 dollars and then dropped another 180 on the Galaxy Nexus... I don't really like Samsung or the way they build phones but after dealing with LG and their runaround bull crap I'm really looking forward to having a phone receiving support straight from Google. Its too bad LG's support sucks so bad because its was a really nice phone aside from the ghost call issue and the lack of updates.
