I sent an email to LG asking for more information and a possibly ETA. Here is the reply I got this morning.

Thank you for contacting LG Electronics
Hello Chris
Unfortunately at this time there is no upcoming update for the LGP925. It has been announced that only the LGP930/935 will be receiving the ICS update.
Thank you for choosing LG

Enjoy the read.... I know I will never again buy LG. From now on my phones will have to say Google on the back for me to consider it.
Saddest thing I've read all day.
Let's hope this is just a misinformed employee.
Besides, maybe the P925 won't get it, but if the P920 does, than it can be easily ported.

I agree. I'm hoping for some ICS love for this phone even if it is a port.

I dont care if they just rerelease gingerbread, as long as there are no ghost calls. LG GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!!!
I ditched my Thrill almost two weeks ago for a One X. I would of still had it if it wasn't a free upgrade. Anyway, the features of my One X is nice. Only thing I miss about my Thrill is the HDMI port and SD slot. Gave it to my 10 year old son. Ill be taking his upgrade for the next Nexus.

I also ditched the Thrill.. Sold mine on Craigslist for 200 dollars and then dropped another 180 on the Galaxy Nexus... I don't really like Samsung or the way they build phones but after dealing with LG and their runaround bull crap I'm really looking forward to having a phone receiving support straight from Google. Its too bad LG's support sucks so bad because its was a really nice phone aside from the ghost call issue and the lack of updates.

Frankly, G2x should blow Atrix out of the space.
I think it does!! hopefully they remove lg's UI and keep it stock!! either way, its still better than motoblur!!

Nice
A lot of people are speculating that T-Mobile changed the name to G2X to match the other "G" series phones. The same people have inferred that this means te phone will be stock Android. Hopefully this is the case! I will definitely pick it up.
Currently using the Nexus One and MyTouch 4G, I would jump on this new phone in a heart beat. I hope the LG doesn't have that cheap plastic feel, I enjoy a quality built device, good hardware goes a very long way in the way I choose my phones. The Nexus One to date has the best feeling in your hands, I still use it as my daily phone. HTC builds quality phones, I have sent my N1 back to HTC several times for the screen issue, they fixed it, changed the mother board and many other parts. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another device from HTC.
now the question is when is the release date?
I heard later this month. I hope so, I am trading out my Nexus S to get the cash together and will be using an iPhone 4 till its released. :-( I plan on getting it on day one.
how does it take to get the unlock code from the website services?
can anyone give me an estimated time for that?
guyz i ll be in us between 12-18 march, hope it ll be released and get the code in very soon, dont want to buy an atrix

Awesome that TMo is picking up O2X as their next G-series device.
Hope it will be launched with stock Android - porting that ROM to European device will be a piece of cake!
O2X + stock Gingerbread = total win
Some Tmobile reps over at Tmonews have posted that the LG reps have come to their stores to demo the phone and that is stock android, has 4G and it is fast! Also the release date is supposedly April 20th alongside the G-slate. Heh can't wait to get this.

I made summary of current informations about TMo G2X, visit my blog if you wish to read it
http://mobileboard.blogspot.com/2011/03/more-informations-about-tmobile-g2x.html
I spoke to a Tmo rep yesterday...and probably the first guy who was totally knowledgeable about HD2 and its capabilities and such. I've asked several reps about the G2x and none of them seem to be even remotely aware. But after talkin for a while with this guy, I asked him about the G2x...and he said since I know this much, there's no harm confirming the arrival of the G2x...he said the launch shud be with 3-4 weeks after the launch at UK. More than likely, the speculated April 20th seems plausible. Can't wait!!
Is 4g confirmed? Would really suck if this phone had everything but 4g speeds
So after 7 months of being out. Official Verizon support for the LG Revolution is coming to an end.

Nah. Staying right here in a community that I love. I'll upgrade when I'm eligible but I'll still have my Revo.

EOL does not mean end of support from Verizon for this phone. They will continue to support it as long as you have a valid warranty.
EOL does mean that you will not be to walk into the Verizon store and purchase one. Once supplies run out that is it. You will still be able to buy refurb units and will receive them was warranty replacements for defective phones as long as inventory holds, which is a long time. In the Droid Eris community people got warranty refurb replacements over a year after EOL.
This may even drop the price on the unit so Verizon can clear their inventory, enlarging this community.

The Eris received several bug fix updates after EOL as I recall. EOL simply means the phone is no longer going to be for sale. I do agree however you will not see any OS upgrades.
This was also a tip and has of yet to be officially announced by Verizon.
There down to $99.00 on Verizon's website.
Wow, a phone that is obsolete in less than a year!
My last phone ran perfectly for over 4 years. That would be my expectation for the Revo.
You can get one for free through newegg. Verizon has been at me about upgrading recently. They say that my primary line is up for an upgrade. My wife should be up for one before me and she said her's isn't up till April.
Is the Revo a good 4G phone? It looks like it is very similar to my DINC minus the 8MP camera.

I would say it is an average phone. If I were up for renewal I would consider something newer however. Remember when getting your phone that it may need to last you 2 years. While there are many dedicated Revo owners here, you will find many that dumped the phone at first chance as well. I would personally go for a nexus, or one of the new dual core phones from Moto or HTC. While dual core will not serve you much right now... in a year from now, who knows.
In the end though it is what you can afford, like, and feel comfortable with.
From what I've read, ice cream sandwich makes use of multi core CPU's. So having a dual core phone like the Nexus would be advantageous.

So they are planning on releasing a new quad-core 10+ megapixel phone in September?... Bgr reported essentially the same thing. Thats only two months away! I hate to be a spoiler of sorts but this is crazy. I can't believe that weeks after they finally release their new flagship they drop this bomb on us. I'm glad I didn't buy it but at the same time it makes me kind of sad because I really wanted to love an lg phone again. Guess I'll have to wait until September

HEY...that's too cool, honestly I thought I'd never see this kind of 'argumentation' again...but here we are. During the 80's we had this running gag 'Don't buy today, tomorrow it's twice the power for half the money!'
I really advice u to wait. Not until September because I heard a rumor that in December...or perhaps January... Stay tuned!
Quad core Krait S4 Sounds nice but i'll stick to the 4x for now. This won't make it into store till December at least IMHO.

Yes this is a great phone for all matters. 4g is nice but only a concern if your carrier provides it. Only one here in Australia does, and they would not be my first choice of carrier based on previous experience.
On another note: How is LG in regards to rooting and and flashing custom roms? Coming from an older Galaxy S and first generation tab, I would ask for a comparison in regards torooting and flashing Samsung devices. I know how valuable good dev support is.

Easier than Samsung but do not expect development by lg at all. So that's the advice and ask all the lg owners, I got 6 different lg phones non of them lg update released yet, custom roms on every one. Of them or I'll still be in 2 with 1.6, or 2.2 in the others it sucks but is easier than Samsung for sure no counters or any other weird stuff

LG already released an Update for the 4x, it was 2 weeks after i bought this phone.
And they are working on the next Update (V10c).
So i think LG want to make things better, and so far they do!
Alright, everyone.
My Atrix 2 just died on me. Well, didn't die, the screen cracked open, long story.
Basically, I need a new phone.
However, because the Atrix 2 STILL hasn't gotten ICS, I swore to never return to Motorola. Yeah, it's not 100% their fault that it's taking them so long, but seriously? It's become really annoying.
So I promised to ONLY buy Android products that have the word "Nexus" in their title, phones that get DIRECT updates from Google without wait and without alterations.
Problem is, I was gonna hold out on the Galaxy Nexus since I feel like a new one must be on the horizon.
Then I heard of the Atrix HD, which, like the other Atrixes (Atrice? Atrici?) has a very amazing starting price of $100.
And now Motorola mobile is owned by Google, right?
So, the TL;DR version of it is this:
Is this phone likely to see timely and consistent updates from Google? I know it just came out, but you guys are really great at what you do, so I'm wondering what your predictions are. Is this phone likely to see Jelly Bean at all in the near future?
I'd like to buy a phone that is future proof to AT LEAST Jelly Bean.
Thanks
The updates still come from Motorola. The acquisition doesn't mean anything to the updates. But this is probably one of Motorola's flagship phones now, so it'll have to get at least Jelly bean.

according to what i've read, MB models are midrange, XT models are flagship. Regardless of this being the most powerful at the moment, it's mid range. There will be a Droid RAZR HD that will surpass this quickly with an XT model number.

That can't be right. When the Atrix 4G launched it was the top of the line Motorola phone, the first dual core phone and won best of CES 2011. Anyway I'd have to agree with the previous poster it will eventually receive JB.
From my understanding, any device that runs ICS will be able to run JB
Well the only company that has conformed jellybean on there top of the line smartphones is htc!! And they did that yesterday only!! So i will give motorola few more days before hearing about jelly bean upgrade!! And we should understand only phone that has jelly bean is galaxy nexus!! Agreed, coming from a RAZR (yesterday) I'm well aware of Moto's lag time in Android updates. I have to say, though, they did an awesome job with ICS... Took forever, but it's awesome!

I'm pretty happy with ICS, so I'm OK waiting a little while for JB. Motorola will probably release it in 6 months, then AT&T will delay it for 6-9 more...not that it's really OK, I wish updates were faster. They need to cut out the carrier-specific modifications!
My wife just today got the new Motorola Atrix HD. So far I think it is a very nice phone and hope she gets great service from it. I to hope that the Jelly Bean update is pushed out for this phone. Only time will tell.
According to this, the Motorola Defy will get JB and it's reasonable that the newest devices will too...
Jelly Bean for the MyTouch 4G Slide, Desire HD, and Motorola Defy
***EDIT***
Just noticed it's a ROM so I'm assuming this is specially made b/c of it unlocked? But here is another quote...
"These devices are all a little older than some would expect to be receiving ports. But if the HTC HD2 can get it, newer devices should be able to as well."
Motorola Defy is still running on an old modified Froyo kernel, seeing as how they never even got gingerbread.
Quarx ported Jellybean over, however.Motorola has long stopped during about the defy

Your best bet is a to go for a Nexus device it you want something that is close to being future proof. I kind of know what you are going through with waiting for a new nexus phone part of the reason I didn't drop $350 GNex. The best advice I can say is go with the AHD for now, you can even get one for $50 on contract from best buy or amazon as long are you don't mind going with the new tiered plans.

Doesn't BestBuy charge you a Restocking Fee if you decide to return anything, especially a phone? Plus certain electronics only have 15 days instead of 30 days to return an item. If this is still true...save yourself the headache and get it from Costco (at their store or online with free shipping) and they give you free accessories (see my post about Costco just a few days ago).
If BestBuy has changed their policy, good but I can't tell you how long it's been since I've stepped foot in their store because of this. It's maybe part of the reason why they're struggling with their stores and trying to hang on to their mobile wireless departments.

OK.. so this thread turned from a JB discussion to Best Buy? LOL. I'm about to pull the trigger on either the AHD or GS3 and am having a tough time deciding due to the JB issue and a few others. From the sounds of most of the comments here, it doesn't appear likely that Moto will offer the JB update, or am I missing something? The GS3 is a nice phone, but the screen on the AHD is far superior and the build quality of the Moto phone seems solid. What do you guys in this forum think? AT&T will sell me either phone for 50% off, no activation fee and a credit back to my account for the CA sales tax too

You strike me as someone who intends on modding ur phone, running roms and other mods or apps that require root so that makes the decision very easy, the GS3. It comes with an unlocked bootloader, root was gained before the phone was even released, the dev support is massive, aftermarket support is amazing, and JB is coming soon! Dont like the battery life? You can use a higher capacity battery if you choose. The camera is lovely! Especially since you're gonna be getting it for half off, that makes it a no brainer!

Gadgetz.... thanks.. Actually your assumption is a little off base and that's due to me having been an iOS person for the past 4 years. And it's also the reason I'm drawn to Android, and even moreso after having watched the various vids about JB and Google Now.. simply amazing new version of Android.
So if I understand what you're saying, you're recommending I go with the GS3 for various reasons, regardless of me not liking the blue tint on AMOLED screens. And I can understand this to some degree. Also, when you install Nova I thought it only changed the look of the home pages and icons. Are you saying that it completely changes the UI including the notification bar where you can toggle on/off for Bluetooth, GPS, Wifi, etc? Sorry, but I'm a noob. I do like the new garnet red color on the GS3 but all of them are fingerprint magnets as you know. What case and screen protector do you recommend? Already found a high end, class 10 32mb microSD for $35 on eBay.
In the midst of fighting with verizon over getting a working revo i jumped ship and bought a Moto RAZR on craigstlist for cheap. I appreciate all the help y'all have given over the last year and how hard everyone(especially mtmichaelson) has fought to make the revo a damn good phone. Thanks again guys, and good luck on keeping the revo at least moderately caught up in the wake of all the new JB and ICS phones on the market!
I'm almost about ready to do the same. It's weird how this phone is a little over a year old and already obsolete.

I'm looking at jumping ship as well and buying a Droid 4. I know it uses a microsim and ours uses a full sim card. Do I need to do anything other than cut it down to micro size or will it just work when I stick it in the new phone? Do I need to contact Verizon for activation or anything? Thanks.

Micro is a completely different size and card. You would have to contact Verizon. You can go into a corporate store also. They have extras they can activate for you. Last I knew they were free with a sales pitch for an add a line our upgrade lol.

Haha, yeah. I'm sure there would be a sales pitch. lol Definitely.
Thanks for your answer but are you sure about the card? I've read that as long as you keep the circuitry and contact points intact cutting a sim down to a micro sim will still function. Or is there yet another kind of card I'm getting this confused with?
I recall seeing a how-to cut down the SIM card quite a few months ago. A video even. I'm certain Google would point you to something useful.

I got a new Rezound on ebay for around $300 and sold the Revo for a $100 and I could not be happier once I got ICS on the Rezound
You'd spend more time watching the video and doctoring your card than you would spend at a Verizon store getting a free replacement of the correct type....just sayin'....

I completely agree. I would go with free over cutting based off of a YouTube video.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will just go into Verizon for the freebie card as suggested.

I just switched to a galaxy nexus, which uses a micro sim and they just switched it out for me at the Verizon store; no sales pitch.

In the midst of fighting with verizon over getting a working revo i jumped ship and bought a Moto RAZR on craigstlist for cheap. I did the same thing. Picked up a galaxy nexus off of craigslist for pretty cheap. After owning the original droid I'm happy to be back to vanilla android (ICS this time). My revo had become way to slow for my liking, even with mtmichaelson's rom (which made it way better than stock).
I destroyed verizon. Revo out. Samsung Galaxy S3 to replace. for free.
This is my wife's phone and we've had it for about 6-7 months. I rooted it, ROM'd it (1st Gingervolt, then Broken Out). I'm on the latest firmware update, and again rooted and flashed Broken Out. All throughout, there were issues with bluetooth, Vibe of Death, screen freezes.
I complained just the other day - hey it was Sunday on Labor Day weekend and I had a moment. 1st Verizon rep was willing to send a replacement Revo. I told her that was unacceptable, that all the forums I've read detail that the defects I've cited are baked into the phone, it is a lemon and should be recalled and that sending me the same lemony phone was unacceptable. I urged her to elevate my claim. I was insistent and was really quite angry that she was not getting it.
I then spoke with a really great rep - technical support - to whom I mentioned all I had done (except for rooting and flashing a rom) and truthfully told her that I had upgraded to latest firmware and still had screen freezes and bluetooth problems. I told her about what I read on the forums and how the phone is just fatally flawed. I also mentioned 20 years as a Verizon cell phone customer, my family plan with 5 phones, all with data, and that what I was asking for - a different model replacement phone - was neither outrageous nor unexpected.
She asked what phone would I prefer. I first said a Razr, but said the Galaxy S3 would be great, but I doubt they'd substitute. Without a moment of delay, she said I could have the Galaxy S3 and what color, blue or white... It was shipped immediately and we are awaiting it.
So pretty soon, on ebay, you are going to see our used LG Revolution...
The moral of this story is get past the first level of customer support and stand your ground. insist on a replacement. Tell them that the Revolution is a huge disappointment and does not provide the basic functions a phone should.
Man...i wish my experience with trying to get different phones was better... I did the same thing, insisted that i would rather go to another service than get a revo back... They didnt give a rats ass... The only reason i'm still with verizon is due to the razr i found for dirt cheap. ICS is so nice in comparison!

I didn't know it at the time, but we have to send our Revo back. Still, getting a S3 for the Revo is a home run.

This phone was obsolete when it was released honestly. The Droid Charge came out before it and was a better phone for the most part. The only reason I bought it was for the unlocked bootloader but I guess none of the Android developers did because we only had limited development (not a knock against the people who did develop, but for all the developers who complained about locked bootloaders and then didn't jump on one that was unlocked)
