How do you know if its necessary to update the radio?
Do you have bad signal?
I always like to have the latest and greatest. I figure Google have made some improvements in the newer radios they release. I have heard, but not sure I believe, that in some instances and locations, people have had better performance with older radios. I have always noticed and improvement or no change at all.
I am currently using 4.06.00.12_7 and it has the best reception and performance for me so far.
Thanks for the help. My reception isn't bad but, looking at the coverage maps in my area, I think it should be better. I think I'll just stick with the radio I have though. One last question. When google starts with the OTA Froyo update, will the radio then also be updated?
Thanks again
Yeah most probably. The Froyo's that are circulating around has the radio while some are custom and gives you the option to install radio on the side. But most probably it will have a new radio.

I am using radio version 1.46.00.11 (Indigo lite and other ROM's). I have sometimes poor cellular reception, sometimes I am not available at all.
I am thinking that changing my radio version, might help in this.
I am asking the Europian buddies here (900/1800 GSM networks) what is the best/optimized radio version at your own knowledge/experience?
I believe the American optimized version is different since Americans are using the 950/1900 GSM networks.

Have tried the shipped radio version and my current 1.46.30.11. The performance is the same, meaning relatively speaking bad indoor (low or no signal sometimes). Outdoor good.
same for me
I was told bt someone that I might be using a bit incompatible radio version, so I'm trying to investigate.
I update my radio to 1.46.30.11 from 1.38... and and the big differens is that gps performes much faster and everything seems to be just better with this radio. seems that my batterie is last a little bit longer than before too,
so Im very happy with this update.
I had 1.46.30.11 but went back to 1.46.00.11 and its much better !!
No more dropped calls for me
Dunno why but I think for Europe 1.46.00.11 is better ...
Kind regards,
I returned to... 1.38 which seems a bit better than 1.46.xxx
Using 1.46.00.11 in the Netherlands without problems, but the original was radio was fine also. Basically, could not detect any differences so far for me but will skip flashing to 1.46.30.11 since the numerous bad experiences with it.
Where can i find the 1.38.00.11 radio? only radio
in XDA's FTP site.
Ok I've been searching the forums for a while now to find answers to my questions and I've answered a few of them but I think I need a little more advice.
I'm using the HTC Touch Diamond and the Model NO shows DIAM500 on the back I've got MP6950, ROM version is 1.22.557.1, Radio Version 1.03.06F. I'm a CDMA user (Pretty sure anyway) and my carrier is Cellular South.
I love my Diamond it's just my carrier that seems to be a problem. I live out in the boonies so my reception is virtually non-existant at home. Not a major problem but an annoying one. It's not just with the Diamond it's with every cell phone I've ever had. Also the battery life could be better I think, I get about 4 hours with pretty moderate use while I have signal (at work). Haven't really done any tweaking YET but I've started messing around today.
Now this brings me to the reason I'm posting. I was looking into updating my ROM but was not able to download the latest from the HTC site (I figured out why). So as far as ROM's go I'm a little confused with all the custom ROMS posted here, I don't really know which would be best for me and if they will work at all and not screw up my phone. Can anyone offer some advice on what ROM is should use?
And I also want to play around with different Radios because I'm under the impression that it could help my reception issue, and then again it probably won't since I've always had this issue. So has anyone had luck with a certain radio helping poor reception? Is there one that would be better for me than the others?
I'm sure these are fairly regular and annoying questions but I just want to make sure I don't throw away the purchase I just made by updating the ROM and radio.
Most of XDA Forum is not for CDMA.
You can always find custom ROMs. Each ROM is different from the others (included applications and options which affect memory usage and performance). So there really isnt a "best ROM." You can check out the thread for CDMA ROMs and make sure you know how to install new ROMs and that you have the needed applications (HardSPL for GSM I dont know if its the same for CDMA). If you have what it takes you can try several ROMs and radios to find the most suitable one for you. Normally this shouldnt harm your phone unless you dont read well before attempting.
Hope this helps.

I believe the latest version is Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 found in the Wildpuzzle thread among others.
and that radio works well with cyanogen roms???do you recomende to intall?
I can say it fixed my navi prob in cm 7 #17
Radio's are universal. Not confined to any particular ROM. The latest one is said to improve signal strength at the cost of battery life.
so if i dont have signal problems better stay with mine? how much difference of battery usage are we talking?
I personally have stuck to my old version (15.31), because, for me, Signal reception is fine, and, I dont use GPS at all, so, CM7's non functioning GPS is a Non-Issue for me.
The battery difference will be minimal. It's tough to put a figure here though. :/
how do u flash a new radio???
@3xeno... can i possibly help my prob of datanetwork??
Just wanted your opinions on what would be the best radio for jellybean.. am currently using lacoste rom with 19m radio...but the reception sucked so shifted to 24m radio.. thought would test that for a while and if not satisfied switch to the 11m
any thoughts would be appreciated!

I had good reception and call quality with gingerbread radios.. was wondering if its possible to flash gingerbread radio with a jellybean rom..the ICS radios work fine but will gingerbread radios?
I have the best experience with the 19_M.
If I am right, that is also the one HTC ships with it's ICS RUU.
I am currently on Szeszo's CM10 testing ROM and first thought that the 11_M radio was the best. But with that radio, I had very erratic behavior while in calls. Most of the time, the calling volume was very loud, even at the lowest setting. As if I was always on speakerphone.
With 19_m, reception is just as good but without the erratic call volume.

11_M was the one that shipped with ICS. And you really need to test it out your self. Different radios will work better in some places while other radios will work better in other places. That being said, I was using 19_M and I had slightly lower signal than with 11_M but for me theyre pretty consistent most of the time.
Been on xda for a while, and have gone through a few phones, but have never really had the need to flash a radio. Saw there have been updated radios recently, and figured I'd give it a go. Curious which one I should use. I'm on AT&T, but don't know if I should flash the most recent ATT or Google Edition 4.3 radio from HERE. If it matters I'm running CM 10.2 (4.3.)
Thanks!

There's a collection of flashable radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
As for which one is best, you will have to experiment yourself; each user has different experiences with different radios, because it depends not only on your carrier but also location, etc.
Just make a note which version you're using now, and you can always go back if you choose.

I am aware, but I was looking from advice from an AT&T user as to which one to go with.
I've used both GE edition and AT&T's newest. I don't really see much of a difference, but my area has good lte coverage.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've used both the most recent ATT and GE radios and I seem to find a little better reception out of the GE radios. It seems to give me about an extra bar at my house where reception isn't the greatest.
