i really wish we could do more than just report threads. i wish i could delete them myself so people like you get the hint that this is not a n00b tech support site but rather a DEVELOPERS site

i ask alot of newb questions as well but that was by far the funniest thing ive seen in a long time diff gonna bein useing that in as many aspects as i can...

and the font section is in the themes and wallpaper section telling you how to install fonts

i didn't find it myself saw it post elsewhere here on XDA and decided it was fun. i take no credit

Hi there, I have just gotten myself a HTC Dream(Singtel) and I want to upgrade my firmware to Cyanogenmod. May I know how do I go about doing it?
Do I first root my phone first or what?

Its all good though man.. just read up on ROOT, SPLS and Requirements.. if you read the guide on how to root your phone, you SHOULD be up and running the latest cyanogen mod rom within the next half an hour.. be sure to READ the directions carefully.. and if your not sure about something, scroll through some of the posts in the thread.. 9 xs out of 10 someone has asked your question, and has received an answer... if there are too many pages to read, like let's say maybe 40 or more, jus go to google, and search for your problem.. this site plus some others may pop up and offer you some help.. good luck and welcome to the community !

go to youtube in a few days and check out emogamers tag and in a few days or so he'll have my videos of everything but there are alot of things to do already

how do i go about creating a custom rom

what title says....could someone point me towards the right direction...just want to see how it's done etc etc if there is a thread about it could you link it to me please I HAVE searched the forum and that so im not after you guys doing hardwork for me

actually used cyanogen wiki, there's nothing bout making your own homebrew there (unless i overlooked it) and google too ;p come up with links to other roms..

granted, you did not use any question marks, but had you used correct punctuation, there would be.

Consider the parts of a rom you want to change. THEN look for answers or tutorials regarding those individual pieces. There is no one quide for creating a rom, but the tons of threads with tutorials for individual components that make up a rom will ultimately guide you to everything you could want to do.

i can't remember the exact name for it right now, but there was a thread about this a while back about starting to mess around with making roms. also there is a thread about unpacking and re-packing boot images which will probably some system understanding as well. I personally do not know how to go about making a rom from scratch, but i think they may have something about how to compile the source here or here. its worth a read anyways i guess.
people on here are dicks and hate to see someone wanting to learn something. like really hate it, with a passion.
being insulted from the guy that released a rom and didn't even know that it had to be signed (tested how)

It's like saying how do I build my computer from scratch. What do you really want? A how to guide that somehow already knows which type of ROM you want to cook, what you are planning to do with it, and teaches you how to use linux, java, and android all at the same time?

All wrong sectionry aside, you didn't find a thread or a guide because there isn't one.. It's something you'll kind of figure out when you're ready. It sounds like I'm being a total elitist d*ck, but I'm not. Knowing how to create a rom from scratch is a culmination of knowledge and research over a long time. If someone posted a step-by-step guide it still wouldn't tell you what you need to know.

Sorry but this whole section is one big questionmark for me. Ive searched a few pages but im still clueless and im new to this all.
So basicly how do i use themes and change icons?

i came up with a few answers, and more questions lol....
so i know you have to root... theres an easy 1 click deal in the vibrant section(this is the phone im using)... but other than this, im relativly lost as well...
SOMEONE HELP US OUT, with a step by step guide.... i can teach myself how to do things, i just dont know what needs to be done

Important Update, Please Read:
Here is an idea! I'm gonna write a very easy tutorial for you guys to apply these themes and any other themes you find anywhere else on your devices. This way, you can mod your phone in no time with less hassle and you can start making great themes for everyone.And you don't need to wait for me to do the job .
Let's bring competition to table. I Believe Cyanogen rom is brilliant, however, when it comes to theming, it is way behind Miui fancy UI.
I'm sure many of you guys have different taste, ideas, and can improve the look of the rom.
It is not easy to find all the tutorials in one place and not spending hours in XDA website to learn something. I myself have learned a lot from XDA, other Devs and using try and error method.
These tutorials would be super easy even for someone who had never done theming before. I'm gonna start writing the first part of tutorial today and if I find time I include images too. I will open a new thread and put the link here.
Tutorials will teach u how to theme almost every App you have. There are other guides out there and u r welcome to use theme but makes mine different is that details will be covered. Tutorials should be fast and easy. Im myself get tired ot reading long confusing tutorials and still come up with questions.

I'm gonna give u instructions to do it urself and u should be able to theme in less than half hour. I can theme it for you but here is the thing. I dont have your phone and you might end up having so many errors and u finally give up. If u be patient I will finish the first part today and u can theme it in no time
