I used to have cyanogen until 2.2 came out, then I downloaded some .zip and it gave me 2.2 which somehow seems to have gotten rid of cyanogen! Does this mean I will get OTA alerts and they will work? It says I'm running FRF50 at the moment.
Probably

Just receive notification for an update for flash player. I am running rooted 2.2 stock from rom. Manager. Does updating broke anything?
Depends on how you are rooted the flash/others update breaks some of the root methods
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
From what I have been seeing it breaks the "1 click" type roots you got from installing an app. You can get root back but until a new exploit is found you will have to do it the "hard" way (push custom recovery and then root via update.zip)
This update also enables Exchange Policies, allowing your Exchange server to be set as a Device Admin and force policies down. It is a non-event if you do not link to a corporate email system.
Thanks for the info. But is there any way to stop it poping up every other minute.?
Ok i have a droid1 and the x...this morning i received this notification in mu droid1 so i didn't install..my question is maybe is dumb question but i will ask it... is there official froyo for droid1 cause i using froyo but i install leaked version a while ago...so is there is better than the leaked one..???? Go into settings about and see what version you have latest is frg01b I believe ... of you have anything else you can grab the latest version from rom manager . Search for it in market.

How are people feeling about the .7 update now that its rooted...
Guess I don't really want to go through ruu'ing my phone to get .7 and really re root if its not significantly better...
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
how do you root it?! I have it, sadly... and I've been without my froyo for days! its killing me.
Wow guys....run the RUU from How to root your Sprint Hero thread, go back to .5, root, and be done with it.
I am running a cutom rom would there be advatage to running the .7 and then rerooting and reinstalling the custom rom. I guess i just don't really understand the whole processes, but im trying

First of all...upgrading to 7 only to revert 5 makes no sense at all....and secondly, all I'm wondering if its worth updating to 7 and re rooting considering everything is fine the way it is...
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
theres a new root method that works with .7 that you do not have to go back to .5

Right, I get that...what I am wondering is if its worth doing all that extra work to have the .7 version

Links to the stock ROMS .6 & .7 Rooted
Its a little snappier and the dialer lag has been fixed, a few bugs worked out & i believe the lockscreen has changed. Thats about it. if you want to try it out here is a link to the .6 & .7 Rooted stock with wifi tethering installed.

Good Luck
Thanks..I think I will just go with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" point of view...
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
.7 update is the best update htc/sprint have given the hero. its fast, responsive.
That's basically what I was wondering....if the difference in 'snappiness' is worth running the ruu and re rooting.....perhaps never having had .6 I would notice the difference even more so?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Big question, did they fix the ring lag?
why would you do the .7 official update, to have to find a way to re-root when you can just use this rom that keeps root, has the update built in, and many extras that you would want in the first place.

Cricket finally went ota with 2.2
http://www.mycricket.com/ZIO
Can someone confirm that ota is identical to the leaked upgrade?
I'm at work so I can't compare myself.

I will be doing a factory reset before trying to update with the OTA. Website says about 30 to 60 minutes. We'll see if anything is different with the "official" release.

Finally, now maybe some of these "man, Cricket ripped us off dude!" people will shut the hell up.
I have the zclusive update. The kyocera updater says no update available. No further information is given. Anyone have any ideas on downgrading. As I heard it, there isn't a dump of 1.6. Factory reset doesn't erase system software. Correct me if I'm wrong...
I have tried to run the update after a factory reset, well I was not able to download the OTA it just checks the version and says no update.
I noticed after factory resetting I could no longer download apps from the market. I ended up formatting my SD card and then running the updater again. So with that being said if yilou have already updated the OTA will not be available, and also confirms that the leak is the official update.

I'm interested in finding out if the ota has swype and the 3g bar graph.
Could someone who's done the upgrade ota report findings please ?
Sent from my Zio using XDA App
Also, if there are any changes that cricket made independently of the leaked update, all we'd need to do is get the ota system image and flash that to our phones
Sent from my Zio using XDA App
As far as I can see they are the same. The kernel, and build versions are the same. (I borrowed this guy's at school who did OTA today.) Everythings else looks the same, no swype, same 3g.

You can try this:

As far as I know, the leaked version and the official version are one in the same.
Has anyone found out how to root the official release from ATT without having to flash? Before I upgraded I had my phone rooted by simply dropping a ZIP file in the sd file root and reinstalling all packages thus installing it. Is there a way similar to this for the new release?

No worries. I just did the linked modified 3e recovery last night & it worked like a charm. Try SuperOneClick for rooting, as that worked perfectly the 1st time for me as well (running stock, rooted KB1): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Good luck!
I tried that but couldn't get it to work but I think its because I have no internet for my computer..

Like most people, I jumped at the chance to have Google Now w/ voice on my HTC Vivid running ICS. Worked well until the newer version came out which was JB only. I got tired of the 'newer version is available' nag so I removed Google Now using StockGoogleSearch.zip but apparently it left behind voicesearch.apk version 3.0.1 which would force close. I downloaded version 2.1.4, replaced it in the system/app folder and changed the permissions to be the same (rw user, r system) and it works well until I reboot. When I reboot it re-installs version 3.0.1 and I have to install 2.1.4 and it works again. I know I'm missing something obviously but I don't know what. Any ideas?
Just reflash your ROM without wiping should remove whatever Google now added

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you have to run an RUU
You know you could have just swiped away the card notifying you of the new version, and it wouldn't have nagged you anymore. As far as removing it, you should have made a backup before flashing it, as is advised multiple times in the OP of the Google Now for ICS thread... just flashing whatever ROM you're running should get you back, but you may end up having to full wipe/reflash
