MMS on FRF83 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

anyone notice MMS messages taking abnormally long to send since pushing FRF83?

Not for me. I was able to send a picture to a friend and get a response within 20 seconds.

hmmmm, maybe i will have to toy with my APN and 4636 menu.

ok so I set my phone to every different prl and set my apn back to default, I also tried it on the voicestream default apn and when I send an mms, even to t-Mobilers, all it says is sending and then on their ends they get a message stating "generic network failure" what the hell....

Have you tried the HTC connection setup app on the marketplace?
that won't help as it uses the settings sent out from the network, giffgaff you have to manually set them and as per the Anyone managed to send an MMS yet thread there are no manual setting entry points
hey,
just got it all working, used HTC Connection setup again, making sure i selected giffgaff and all works, i have sent and received mms with no probs!! didnt even have to reset the phone!
Did you unlock your phone, or is it still locked to O2 using giffgaff? I only ask as I'm on giffgaff, and while the connection setup tool has internet data working fine, I can't send or receive mms, just says "cannot send, try again?" whenever I try.
I've been able to get it now receiving MMS it would appear, but still says can't send message whenever I try to send one. Just thought, do you need credit (other than a goodybag) in your account to send it - would it say cannot send if there was no credit and so the network refused?
Right ignore me (I think I'm gabbling to myself anyway!) it was because I had a goodybag but no actual credit, and since MMS are not included in goodybags, it wouldn't send. Just topped up some credit and went through no problem

Anyone managed to send an MMS yet

Just tried but didn't work.
Called O2 looks like there is only provisioning for data networks not MMS APNs
When you try to add an APN you get three fields
APN :
User name:
Password:
Tried putting the O2 settings in with O2 second line support and nope can't be done as no server address etc is available .
Anyone else managed to send an MMS ? Apparently some people on O2 cant even send texts due to software problems with this phone .
i've recieved an mms, not tried sending one though.
Can confirm that MMS is both receiving and sending as well as SMS

looks like giffgaff uses could be stuffed as it works here too, though doesn't sending a text saying 'Settings' to 2020 on giffgaff get the settings sent to the phone?
or could try the htc connection setup from the market that may get the settings for you
MMS & text working fine for me.
the op should try the HTC Setup App from the hub, select the giffgaff settings ok it all and then powercycle the phone, hopefully that should work.
Can someone please give me their or tell me what settings they have at the bottom under edit or add APN in the |Network setup as I've tried both hard reset used GiGaf and O2 Pre and Post pay settings
Thanks
Hey,
I can confirm all is working now, i am able to send and receive mms on my giffgaff sim, some reason i just had to use the htc connection setup again, selecting giffgaff and it worked fine. Didnt even have to reset the phone!!
Ok , Hard reset the phone twice and now its working .
Seems something is not quite right here but it works now

Cann't get to the internet

Ok I have a T-Mobile HTC Windows phone 8x that is unlocked. When I try to get to the internet it keeps going to the address androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html . I can receive MMS messages but can't send picture messages. I have the right apn settings in the phone. I have tried help on a form that they answer that they need to take this offline and sends me a private message to call and then when I called I spent an hour on the phone with a Tech support person (being nice) has me delete my apn settings and put the same ones right back in and still now internet or picture messages. Then I let that person talk me into resetting the phone to factory settings which did nothing. Then he had me put my sim card into my sons phone which is a T-Mobile Nokia 521 with Windows phone 8 and it does not work in that phone either. By the way my sons phone has the same apn settings and can get to the internet. so after all that, that person calls T-Mobile and they decide that it has to be my phone. Which it is not. The apn setting s that I have in my phone is:
apn: wap.tracfone user name and password BLANK Proxy server (url) 216.155.165.40 Proxy Port 8080 IP type IPv4v6. Is there anybody out there that can help me out with this. I do not want to bye another phone since I have only had this one since March 2013.
OK I went back on with the chat support and the guy on there (to be unnamed) tells me that he can't help me and that I have to call the toll free number Tech Support again.
PLEASE someone help me.
Thanks

Messages not sent

I seem to be having an issue with hangouts not sending my texts. I'll type out my text, hit send and put the phone down. Look at it a few minutes later and it says message not sent, touch to resend. It doesn't do this on every message, but most.
I use hangouts for texts because I do a combo of SMS and hangout messages throughout the day. Not worth using two apps when one does it. Never had this issue on my nexus 5, so I'm not sure if its a version issue or what.
You have APN Issues
Any suggestions on settings? I have what T-Mobile suggests on their site as my settings except I changed to IPv4/IPv6 from IPv4 in the APN Protocol. Can't imagine that would be all.

MMS and 5.1.1

Ever since hopping on 5.1.1 MMS has been sporadic for me.
I can receive fine, but sending is the problem. And doesn't matter if wifi calling is on or not.
T-Mobile says that they don't see attempts for MMS and filed a ticket to no avail.
It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?
I am rooted fyi.
On COF8
TWISTED SIXX rom (also happened on looper 5.1.1)
Google Messenger doesn't work
Stock Messaging shows sent but no one receives it.
this is really driving me crazy, i updated the mms port to 80 in apn settings to no avail.
If anyone got advice, would be appreciated.
i havent had any issues until tonight.. now my phone wont send them all the sudden.
I read that MMS were being disabled by one carrier due to that new Android vulnerability.. maybe that's why
I just figured out it was Google messaging... They updated the app today and lots of people are reporting it broke theirs too. Now I have to go back to the stock app which turns on the fricking screen for every text. I'll never understand that feature. Drives me insane.

For me it's texting as a whole that dies. My data still works otherwise, but SMS/MMS fail to send. Whenever it happens I clear cache/dalvik, reconnect to my wifi and it seems to fix it. Doesn't work every time though.
As far as I've noticed it happens randomly. I'll try to send a text and maybe 5-10 mins later I get a send failed receipt. If I just try to send it again without fiddling with my data it'll just hang again and fail.
Happens with stock and chompsms. I had the issue where my phone would say it had sent but the person wouldn't receive it. That only happened once though, every other time it's given me a fail. The thing is, even though it says it has failed, some of the texts make it through regardless - which obviously means I've been sending a lot of people the same message twice recently lol.

texts for me fail once mms hangs. Nothing will come in or out until I get network failure responses 10-15 min later.
Either way, what the hell t-mobile?

My experiences have been for the past 3 weeks.
Yeah I was referring to my problem. It sounds like others are dealing with something different than I am.

So it just happened again, several texts failed to send, but I got a "Unfortunately, IPsec Service has stopped" popup. Maybe it's something to do with whatever that is?

That's Wifi Calling.
I can confirm issue occurs regardless of wifi calling
For me SMS or MMS were not sending with VOLTE on. I turned it off and the issue was resolved

Yeah, i've tested with it on and off no luck.
So update, I've narrowed down the issue to APN settings and Google Messenger.
Google Messenger has a tough time recognizing our APN's because the APN fields do not have mms protocol options which is what google messenger looks for.
So my next question is, what is the most ideal APN settings?
I'm at my end with this. Gonna try a int'l rom and see if that helps at all
Update:
Int'l Rom MMS while connecting to wifi or not on google messenger stock messenger any messenger works flawlessly, tested 20 mms 4 a piece on 5 diff sms apps that previously weren't working.
Why are t-mobile roms inherently corrupt in this aspect?
Can someone adv what the EPC apn is? EPC.t-mobile.com ??
Can someone explain the difference between epc.t-mobile.com apn and fast.t-mobile.com ?
MMS fails 100% of the time on fast.t-mobile.com
MMS Is successful 100% of the time on epc.t-mobile.com
I had the problem of messages either not coming in or not sending until I set up a new APN with these settings -
In Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Name: (whatever you want)
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Multimedia message proxy: Not set
Multimedia message port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: Not set
APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN roming protocol: IPv4
Mobile virtual private network operator type: Not set
Set this as the APN to use and reboot your phone
It's basically the same APN settings that come with the phone with the exception of the APN type
