I recently flashed to the Fresh 2.1.2 rom, and i'm having trouble using the "Wireless Tether". I've uninstalled the one that came with the rom, and i've installed a fresh new copy from the Marketplace. But every time I've tried hitting the "tether" button, it says "Unable to start tethering, please try again!"
My superuser app isn't doing anything, this might be the problem. Whenever I open the superuser app, it's a complete blank screen.

Hi i'm running CM6 on my nexus one for quite a while now and everything was working fine until today, for some reason i can't install or uninstall apps anymore, this means that when i try installing from the market, the app downloads, but it's gonna say "installing..." forever... at first i thought it was a market related issue, but even when i tried installing an app from an external source via the package installer, the same problem remained. When i try uninstalling, it gives me a black screen with the grey status bar loading, but it wont uninstall :Si have no idea how this happened or how i can fix it, i tried wiping everything and reflashing the rom, but no luck is there a way to fix this? thanks
Go to "Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications (click the all tab) -> Click "Market -> Clear Data"
and try installing from the market again.
I dunno about your other problem.. but that fixed my installing forever problem
I hope I am posting this in the right place. I successfully rooted using auto-nooter and almost everything seems to be working well - thanks to you all for the great instructions because I am a totally noob in the Android department.
You tube worked (not sure if it was before or after rooting but now it doesn't). This is found at the end of the auto-nooter instructions:
"If your Youtube fails to launch delete /data/data/com.android.youtube"
I can't find "data/data/com.android.youtube" to delete. I have ASTRO installed. Can someone lead me through this please? Thank you.
If you install Titanium backup, there is an option to "Wipe Data" for programs. Just scroll to Youtube in the list of installed programs, hit "Wipe Data" and it should work again. Just don't sign into Youtube afterward, or you'll be in the same place again.
THANK YOU, peiziyu
That was easy - it worked great. xda rocks!
You can use Titanium Backup or ES File Explorer.
No problem. Glad I could help.
You can also use Nook Tools. Sadly this fix doesnt work for me and everything I try only gets it to work for a short period of time.
Don't sign in next time you get it to work.
If you remain signed in when you quit YouTube, it will just close the next time until you wipe data again..
That's because this version of YouTube is not really for Android 2.1, ...
has anyone tried this version? its the froyo/gbread version ported to eclair.

Start by getting Titanium Backup from the market (free), then start titanium and hit "backup/restore", go down to youtube and then hit "wipe data"
Hoe that helps

I rooted fine last night (and added Zeem launcher) and apparently signed into youtube and closed out. As such youtube stopped working. I tried uninstalling YouTube via Zeem and was going to install it again from the marketplace. But could not find it in the marketplace. I then installed Titanium Backup and it started working again (I didn't go into TB, just installed it). Today it stopped working again, of course I know why now after finding this thread. However, I have already uninstalled it and TB shows that it is uninstalled and I can't find it in the MarketPlace. How can I reinstall YouTube if I can't find it in the MarketPlace?
I am getting the following error in Ti Backup.
Code:
"Warning - System Configuration"
Your system will prevent you form restoring application. To correct this, go to your phone's Settings the in "Applications" and tick the "Unknown Sources" checkbox.
I cannot find that menu so therefore I am stuck in trying to repair YouTube. ES File Explorer does not show anything inside the /data folder that I can delete.
Thx
Edit:
Nevermind, I found the answer. Ti Backup needs an empty SD Card in order to see Apps. YouTube Wipe Data worked perfectly.
I was able to fix my issue.
I shut the nook off (not just the screen) and put in the auto-nooter microSD card again. Plugged the Nook up to the PC and waited. Basicly I was trying to re-root it. My PC started chiming saying it it found new hardware and that it didn't have drivers for it. It did that a few times and after about 2 minutes the Nook was turned on. I first noticed it had my normal wallpaper on it, so I unlocked it and all my apps were still installed, and the YouTube app was on there again.
So it appears that the auto-nooter saw youtube was missing and put it back for me. Looks like I'm keeping that microSD card around in case I ever need it again.
Thank you
Ti Backup worked perfectly!

Flashed Cyanogen 7.1.0

After flashing ROM and installing google apps, I get "Server error, Retry" message when trying to connect to Android Market. Doesn't matter if I try connecting using 3g or wifi. When I connect to the Market using my computer, I see all my apps listed as "installed". When I choose to install a new app from the Market using my computer, it shows that it's being sent to my phone, but my phone never gets it. Anybody know what's going on?
Nothing Google is working. Typing a search in the google search box forces web browser to close. Reset phone and entered info for google account, but I get the same error message.
Try this:
Go to Settings>Application>Manage Apps>All
Then scroll down and look for the Market app. Press the app, force stop, then clear data. Do a normal reboot just to make sure. Then see if that fixed it.

Yeah, tried that a couple times. Did it again, just for fun, with same result. Am I using the wrong google apps pack? I'll try a couple different ones. Really want google to recognize my phone again. Currently, no syncing of gmail, calendar, contacts, app updates, etc.
ok. Quick update. Found info on Cyanogen forum that recommended Re-flashing Cyanogen 7.1.0 and re-installing google apps pak. After I did this, my phone asked me to sign in to google accounts, and immediately started downloading all my Market apps. I was excited until, my status bar said "error downloading xxxx" for each and every app it tried to restore. After the 47th app, it finally stopped and gave the error message: "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".
As it turns out, about 1/3 of my apps were restored properly. Not sure what to do about the rest.
Ah I'm sorry about that. I had the same problem before and all I did was clear data to fix it.
(For future reference, use titanium backup, downloadable from the market, to backup&restore your apps before flashing a new ROM. Make a copy of the Titanium Backup folder from your SD card and store it on your PC. That way, if you accidentally formatted your SD card, you'll always have a copy of the folder to restore your apps.)

Thanks. I did make a Titanium backup, but needed to install Titanium from the market in order to restore it. As it turns out, after rebooting the phone, the market app is working now, so I just decided to restore the apps I want manually. Currently, I am using my computer to look at my library of apps on the market, and clicking install to restore only the ones I really want. It's nice to see that all the ATT bloatware is available if needed, but it's not being forced on me.
Glad things worked out for you, eventually. Yes, that's a nice feature from AT&T. I don't like their apps it just takes up space. But if I need to sell my phone as stock its nice to have the AT&T apps back

So I deleted tethering guard after I rooted my phone under the impression from some other forum that would allow me to tether freely. Well its quite the opposite, now when I go to the tethering app, it wont even attempt to turn on, neither will any other tethering apps. I found the tetheringguard.apk file online and attempted to re install it to no avail. I have tried, command prompt, this is the result;
C:\Users\RC\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$EXa0.371\data>adb install <C:\Users\RC\Downloads>/<Tetheringguard.apk
Access is denied.
I have tried the APK installer app from the play store, it loads via Sim and when I click install it says "Application not installed"
Lastly I tried emailing the apk to my own email and opening it with my phone, that does the same thing as the APK installer app.
I am brand new at all of this stuff so please be patient, and thanks for the help
Also Im using holiday-dream-x2-Rom.
3rd party apps allowed
usb debugging is on.
Remount the system partition as r/w or download one of the ruu.zips and pull it from there

it wont install like a normal app because its a system app, you have to use a root explorer to copy it to the proper location and then make sure it has correct permissions.
Reflash rom, and only wiping dalvik and cache, and you will have it back.
