diamond no reception - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi all,
I accidentally broke the GPS coaxial cable on the diamond (the one on the right of the phone when looking from the back). Wifi, bluetooth works fine (left wire), but I can't get any reception for cell service.
Does the diamond have to have both functioning inorder to receive cell service/
Thanks.

Why would they keep a cable if it doesn't do anything!! By the way if im correct its not the GPS cable , its the transmission cable ( Radio )...

GPS Receiver won't work :( Please help!

I have just got a Rikaline 6010 GPS unit, and make a cable that go's from the Ps/2 Connector to the XDA connector.. the GPS powers on, but Tomtom doesn't appear to be getting any data, on the GPS screen the little Satellite - - - PDA area is not showing any data being sent/received.
The PDA works fine, as I have it hooked up to my Digitraveler (Rikaline is for my dad)
I have tried selecting TomTom GPS Receiver, Rikaline 6010, NMEA 4800 from the GPS menu but none of them work
Rikaline have the Pinout in their manual: http://www.rikaline.com/download/GPS-6010-Manual-E.pdf
I have the RS232 TX & RX connected to Pin 8 & 10 on the XDA connector.
GND is on Pin 5 of the XDA connector, and +5 is taken from cigarette lighter.
Is this correct ?
Should I be using the TTL connections instead ? where would they go on the XDA ?
Many Thanks
Neil
Have you tried reversing the tx/rx connections, worth a try? How are you powering the gps?
GPS is being powered from ciggy lighter in the car, I've just made a PC cable and tried using some diagnostic software to read the raw data from the GPS and nothing
I think the unit may be knackered...
Well..... what do ya know! I thought what the hell.. i'll swap the data leads round and see if it makes any difference even though both cables were wired EXACTLY as is shown in the GPS manual. But IT WORKS!!
The unit can seem to hold a lock though, I will get one in about 20 secs if I unplug it and then plug back in, but after a minute or so it drops and never gets a lock again.
Could it be that the ciggy lighter (one supposed to be used to charge XDA) is not powerfull enough to do the XDA and GPS (the GPS doesn't appear to actually turn off when its losing the lock)
Cheers
Neil
Is it possible for you just to feed the gps with power using that adaptor? You could switch off power management on the xda temporarily so it stays on while experimenting.
Ok it doesn't appear to be a power thing, as the GPS does exactly the same thing when using my laptop, it will get a lock and hold the lock for exactly 2 minutes then the unit appears to power cycle as it loses all signal.
Certainly sounds like a component failure, can you return it or is it cannibalised?
Sent it back this afternoon, the unit has not been touched. Just made the XDA > Male PS/2 Connector, so hopefully it will work when the new one comes
ive also got the same uit and struggling to get it working i have tried to swapp the pins around too but nothing gps powers up and works fine but its not senidng data to the xda
looking at the datasheet i have connected the Rx RS-232 and Tx RS-232 to the pins 8 and 10 are they the right RX/TX's? as there are Rx TTL and Tx TTL too?
lmk cheers :\
----edit------------
works ok with only one cobination but it shows the dots going to the pda on the gps screen but it stops after about 4-6 little dots then doesnt do nothing
HEEELLLP!!!! lol dont tell me i brought yet another bluddy gps and it dont want to work with my xda

Where is this second port you think you've found?
According to all documentation I have seen, the Kaiser has an external GPS antenna port but no external GSM antenna port.

Well, when you put out the battery cover you can see two ports, I tested with one but the other is smaller....

GPS USB connectivity loss

Hey guys,
Odd problem here, and I've narrowed it down specifically to these two components: USB Connection, GPS
Situation: when using my Diamond in my car with a USB connection to my car's headunit, I often time would like to use the GPS connection (eg. with google maps). When I turn on the GPS, I usually get anywhere between 30 seconds - 90 seconds before my USB connection will be dropped and I have to manually reconnect my phone.
As I mentioned above this is directly related to GPS, if I have GPS turned off, no problem. Does anyone here know why there is a correlation between USB connectivity and GPS?
Thanks,
-Mike

[Q/A] Loosing GPS signal when using VGA-out

Hye all,
reading this board for years now and need your help because haven't found answer to my problem (of course...))
I've recently bought a X7500. (2 in fact... ex owner thought they were bricked after bad flash).
They are fine running under WM6.5.
My objective is to plug one of them in my RCA (composite) enter on my 2DIN car"s headunit and it's fine functionning.
MY problem: when I launch au GPS soft (Tomtom or Navigon MN7) the fix is ok, but when I plug the hub with VGA/Composite plug to put it on my car's head-unit video enter, I lost GPS signal !! ?
I try with the HTC docking station: it's the same !!
In fact, I loose GPS signal progressively after plug-in the hub or the dock.
All thoose tests have been made even if the alimentation usb is plugged !
Can some one help me to increas my diagnostic or is it impossible to use GPS when VGA out is physically connected to hub or docking station ?
Thank you for trying helping me.
SOLUTION:
In AP Titanium ROM:
goto start menu launch "Advanced Configuration"
goto "Power management"
select PPTP power management and switch to "disabled"
select L2TP power management and switch to "disabled"
tap "DONE"
(doing automaticaly a hardboot)
And right now the gps signal is no more lost when plug-in hub or dock-station ATHE 150.
Hope this could help somebody.
Cheers
(to modo: sorry for wrong sub forum posting, is it possible to move it into the right one please ? (X7500...))
